This spot used to be the place to go to for fried fish and recently coming here to grab a bite for my kids... Ughhh. The food was terrible! I took a bite of the fried fish and it tasted like it was sitting in oil before it was served. I understand everything here is fried, but it literally tastes like it was sitting in the oil instead of put on another area to drip dry. Can't believe my kids actually like this place. I won't be coming here to dine in or grab it to go for myself... I don't know if I've spoiled myself by trying fried fish elsewhere, but it was not as good as I remembered it. Long John's really needs to re-evaluate their fish cooking process and I'm not even sure if it's just this location, but there has to be a way that they serve their foods not drenched in oil. The staff was rude it seem like they didn't want to be there. The food seen a bit different maybe the food changed or something. The fish was thinner and very salty. I also got a shrimp basket with a side of cole slaw. The shrimp and fish were both very oily and smelled very fishes and the cole slaw did not taste good. If I could give a minus 5 stars I would. Ordered salmon tacos with no sauce (cant eat mayo based sauces as I am allergic to eggs) in the drive through. It came with sauce underneath the fish..no biggy that happens. I went in and asked for the tacos without sauce as I ordered. The cook came out very aggravated and confrontational saying there was no sauce on the tacos. I said there was it was under the fish...he continued to keep arguing. I got my my money back and left. We have always had very good service and food but tonight Friday 1/17 @ Apx 6:30pm they did not show Their best. There was an employee doing a shift change, only one employee working the front counter and the drive-through Chama 3 cars in the drive-through waiting at the speaker and for people waiting inside at the counter. The only reason I am giving this place 3 stars is because the food was hot and came out in a timely manner. But the employee's need a class on Customer Service ASAP. The young lady that took our order clearly does not appreciate she has a job, and made it a point to let us know before a single word came out of my mouth to order: We are closing in 10 min. This was by far the worst experience ever. There was a new girl at the register all by herself and no help. Management no where in sight to help this new Co worker who was clearly really confused. She started to have a line and orders were being messed up. I felt really bad for her that I would of jumped around the counter to help her if I knew her job. This was my friends first experience as well and she said she will never go back. They need to have some consistency and help new employees more instead of getting frustrated at her. Man, I used to love Long John Silver's when I was a kid. Now, it's just one frozen fish filet doused in a pound of batter, quickly fried and then thrown into your meal (yes, it is still dripping with oil when it lands in your plate...I think that's why they put those little crunchies in there for you). Super heavy and super dense...it's tough to enjoy these things again. I still do like their hushpuppies though. Yummy. I went around 3pm with my brothers on Saturday. It was not really busy as we dined in. I ordered the super sampler while my brother ordered the fish, chicken, and shrimp platter; both platters were only $8.99. Monica D. was our cashier. She was very nice, friendly, and approachable. She did not mind our questions about the food items as she was also very patient. She brought our food to our booth when it was ready and noticed that one of the pieces of chicken they gave me was small. She stated that she will give me another one along with the pieces of shrimp that they forgot to include on my platter. I never like to leave knee-jerk reviews. I realize all businesses have their good and bad days. No one's perfect. That being said, I'll describe yesterday's experience. The food was coming out VERY slow. Most of us were waiting 15-20 minutes, when lo and behold, new food finally did come out. But it was with an employee on her break. The rest of us still had to wait quite a while. I know employee have to eat and have to take their breaks at set times. But it didn't go over well at all. Don't understand the low reviews here, I think people are just unable to be pleased in general. I come here a few times a year and have never been disappointed. The quality is great for fast food and the people in the drive thru have always been pleasant and super attentive. I've never had an issue with my orders and that's rare because I never can find a place to get my order right. The line doesn't take long but it depends on the time of day you come. When received my order realized ordered the wrong meal and dinner (after 4pm) Manager on duty gladly corrected my order with no problem. The service has always been good for me, but today me and my son went there for lunch. We walked in and there was a girl at the counter. There was no hello, no greeting whatsoever!!. We stood checking out the menu, still she's standing there just talking to her co worker about "school", 2 minutes later still no acknowledgement from her at all, 3 minutes later the other girl looks out yet they continue to talk still no acknowledgement, 5 minutes later (we timed them) still NOTHING. After my visit to Los Cabos Pupusas House-for those pupusa's are my dinner. (SURPRISE hubby!!) I written a review on them..... I came here seeing their $5 3 piece Chicken meal deal with additional sides. I thought: Okay lunch sealed. I came over here using their drive through. Mind you, I haven't been to Long John's since I left Bakersfield almost a year ago. I order the meal deal through the drive thru. It was kinda hard to hear the girl thru the speaker and wasn't very clear on what options were on the side were to be available. So I took a guess and order the onion rings and coleslaw. Okay, yay! I wasn't denied the sides I chose. I drove up first window-nobody. Okay, I'll drive up to the second window. After a few minutes, the girl took my card, paid my order and shut the window. Waited for about 5 minutes and got my order. My order came too hot to eat. Which is fine. Hey fresh is better than here to go out the door you go. Funnily enough, I used to LOVE their batter, and it was used on their onion rings which I didn't really care for. Such a major let down!! Parts of the onion were thick, but I didn't really care for their batter. Their chicken was good. I'm surprised at that. I used to get real thin and small chicken tenders and this time it was an actual chicken side. The coleslaw was decent. The hash puppies were a bit oily for me.
