Stop reading this review and call Long Grain for reservations. ...... OK, back now? Start with the dumplings, which I usually don't like but loved here. Order one of the housemade noodle dishes. Then consider the specials. (We loved the chicken wings.) Don't pass up dessert. Go home happy. PS: I'm serious about reservations. The place is tiny and popular with locals and tourists. read more

I go here as often as I can. Never disappointed. Best food in Maine. There pad Thai is tops.

Yum! I was looking for a dinner place in the area and fall into the Long Grain. The place was packed, you could hardly see the sign for the place but that didn't seem to be an issue. The server created a space for me at the end of the bar and boy did I dived into Thai food haven. I got mussels soup which was Mussels in Tom Yum on Steroids, to die for! The place is crowded so be prepared. read more

The food is very good. Considering that they are in Maine, I would have liked to see more seafood items on the menu. The restaurant is very casual and small, so do make reservations. The service could improve. They forgot one of our dishes and did not even bother to say sorry. read more

Asian influenced deliciously fresh food. Definitely need a reservation, and definitely worth it.

Placed an order for carry out and was told it would we an hour, which we said was fine. Arrived to be told they were running 15 min behind, which rapidly became Ober half and hour of waiting outside onthe rain. When we asked why they didn't call customers to let them know of delays, the response was, "yeah, we don't do that". And then asked us to keep waiting. Rude, unprofessional, and not deserving of anyone's business. read more

The food here is excellent. Just be warned that, at least when we went, the takeout wait was unbelievably slow. We arrived at the restaurant on time for a 6pm pickup and waited 43 minutes for the food to be ready. read more

We come here as regularly as possible for folks who don't live in the area. Once again we order as many things as possible with the goal of having leftovers. The photo I posted was from kao soi the next day. Everything was packaged extremely well and pick up was a breeze. We ate their pork dumplings, Thai beef, crab fried rice, and pad seaw in the parking lot of a marina right down the road because we couldn't wait. Everything is fantastic! read more

Just WOW. This was really incredible thai food. Everything was so fresh and delicious! I had the Kea mao noodle with tofu and I had to stop myself from licking the plate. Everyone at the table was very happy with pad thai, panang, rice cakes, and spring rolls. As far as desert goes, sticky rice with coconut custard is my absolute favorite, which is great because it's the only desert they offer. Why offer more when you do this one sooooo well. Again, wow! They also offer a large variety of Maine craft brews, which is really nice. Like everyone has said, make a reservation! The place is small and the food is great, you will be happy you did. read more

Our reservation was for 8 pm for four people and the table was not ready until nearly 8:15. I'm going to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and say that the patrons that had the table before us were slow to get up. The decor is really nice, kind of a farmhouse and Asian fusion. The restaurant is far more upscale than most of the Thai places in the area. The food was delicious and arrived promptly. Our server was pleasant and friendly and was happy to answer questions and make suggestions. The bartender/hostess was a bit overbearing, obnoxious and loud, but the rest of the experience was so good that it barely mattered. The place is small and fills up quickly, make a reservation definitely if you plan on eating in. Also, there is no sign currently, save for an 8x11 sheet of paper on the door, so it is kind of hidden (next to Zoots Coffee) right now. read more

We are visiting Maine for 2 nights 3 days. We had long grain takeout at our friend's house and then we came back today for lunch before we left. Amazing!! Our table had: Northeastern style Thai beef salad (Nua nam tom) we had this both times, steamed mussels in spicy coconut lemongrass broth (after we ate this we used spoons to drink the broth wow!) spicy stir-fried with Thai basil, organic greens, mushroom with chicken (pad ke Mao), Pad Thai and house made kimchi with pork belly and rice cake. Then dessert: coconut custard with black sticky rice and coconut cream! Reservations are a MUST! Very small place. Beautiful waitress! read more

Surprisingly legit Thai food in Camden. We had our fill of seafood after a week and figured any Asian-ish food wood fill a craving. We were pleasantly surprised that the Thai food was on point. I had the Pad Kee Mao and my fiancé had the basil fried rice. read more

I'd order the Kao Soi and Pad Thai with pork belly for take out on a busy Tuesday evening. The pick up order was 45 mins which was fine since I was driving from Rockport. Let me say, it was definitely worth the drive and wait! I was chasing the sunset so I had time to kill while listening to country music since it was the only station that came in on my stereo. The take out meals was very favorable and delicious. You can't beat the price either unless your were in Thailand. The interior had a collective refreshing vibe and the little shop inside was an added touch to make the restaurant truly unique. Hats off to the chef and owner of Long Grain! Saap Ver! read more

Stopped in for dinner, the restaurant was very busy so they were not able to seat us so we did take out. While the menu looked promising and the reviews were solid, we found the food just slightly above average. So definitely call ahead to make a reservation, the place was packed so maybe we just missed out on their better dishes. read more

I have traveled across this country enough to know the real deal when it comes to Thai. How are we so fortunate to have the best Thai food I've ever had in little ol' Camden Maine?! Equal parts chance and owners passion. Do not miss the mussels! And though it doesn't seem too adventurous the spicy basil fried rice is incomparable! While these are a couple of my favorites the reality is anything you'd like to try from dumplings to beef salad, or the curry are outstanding! read more

Pretty good place! I like the dumplings and the Pad Thai. I know they are trying to keep it authentic by only offering chopsticks initially, but waiting for the waitress to come by again to ask for a fork while your food is getting cold is a bit annoying. The service could also be a bit quicker with bringing drinks, forks, appetizer plates, the check, etc. We went at 5pm right around dinner opening and though the tables were full within 20 minutes of us sitting down, it didn't seem that busy or chaotic in there for the time it took for the waitress to come around to our table again. read more

Great place for takeout. We got the Pad Tai and Ramen and ate it on the picnic benches at the harbor. The Ramen is a bit spicy, which I like, but the Pad Tai is not Both were fabulous! read more

I visited Camden on my way to Acadia national park and had lunch at long grain based on the good reviews on Yelp. The food here is surprising good. We ordered basil fried rice, crabmeat fried rice and pork belly rice noodles dishes and all are delicious. read more

I have heard rave reviews about this place for years and came in with some friends recently. The food was flavorful... but the service was lacking. My table was neglected for about 25 minutes to order and one person in my party got her entree around the time when the rest of us were done (after asking...) and it was the wrong item. I'm sorry but usually an establishment will offer something to make up for that. Not here. Not coming back. read more

Amazing food and great set up for safe to go service. They were incredibly helpful and nice when I called in my order, even though they were clearly very busy. read more

Amazing Pad Thai! Their COVID rules are that you call ahead to put in your order, then pick it up inside a cooler that is situated on sidewalk. If you're paying with card, you need to do payment over the phone rather than in person. We loved their food and would definitely come back read more

Dined on Saturday night. No res so sat at bar. Understaffed to keep up with the throngs of patrons picking up takeout. If you don't mind the wait you will be rewarded with some authentic yet creative asian fusion. Would return. read more

$25 for plain old Pho and $18 for curry. Average Asian food that you could get anywhere for 1/2 the price or less. Nothing special here but the prices. read more

This was our second visit and the first at this location. Excellent food and service. Hard to Get a reservation so keep calling. Delicious and creative menu . We are vegetarian/vegan and they were very accommodating . Great find . read more

Food is great and they have a market that has good essentials to cook Asian food. The service is a little "flaky" (didn't inform us of specials and seemed very indifferent when we asked for some things) but polite. The spicy ground chicken with rice (add the egg) was my favorite dish. The house made noodle was good as well. read more

Houston has great Thai restaurants. Sadly, we do not have Long Grain! This was absolutely the *best* Thai meal I have ever had so far. The menu was limited and creative. All the food was incredibly balanced and well-seasoned. There was no need for the multitude of condiments one usually finds on Asian Food tables, which was a good thing. Expect to be cramped (the place is very small), and to wait for a table, even with reservations. Do not be put off; it is well worth it. We had the chicken wings as appetizers, and the daily curry (that evening it was beef) and crab fried rice. I would not be above Grand Larceny to get that curry again. We met lovely people next to us who were regulars from out of town. This is their favorite restaurant. You can expect to wait even if you are doing take-out. Reservations are a must. There is no waiting area currently (they will be moving soon to a new location around the corner), and if it is raining, make sure you take appropriate gear, because there is very little awning. Do not miss this restaurant! read more

Have loved this place for years, and now they have a beautiful new building to live in! Good for us because they can serve more people! Top 2 Thai restaurants in America "in my opinion". Love the fresh Vietnamese salad, the Pad Thai is always wonderful and my husband got Pad Ke Mao which was fantastic!! Don't miss this delightful place- and if you don't have reservations- you can get it to go! read more

The food was decent enough, but the attitude of the server all but ruined it. None of these issues existed at the former location. Now I have no idea if the experience will be grim or good, so as a local, we stay away. read more

This place did not meet expectations at all. We made a trip up from Portland, ME for the night to enjoy Camden before it got crowded for summer and everyone recommended this restaurant. Food was bland and did not live up to the hype. I had to ask for a side of soy sauce to add flavor to a dish. Instead, they brought out magic sauce which was essentially chili oil and fried garlic and it too was also bland. The dishes had no hint of authenticity at all. Not only was the food mediocre, but the service was terrible. We waited long periods of time for our waitress's attention and my partner called in and asked the waitstaff two times while he was there to add a candle to our dessert. Dessert came out late and without a candle. This restaurant is good if you've never had Thai food before and like to be treated like a second class citizen We'll stick to Portland's Thai scene. read more

I heard great things about this place, but I found the food completely underwhelming, and flavorless...I've had better Thai food in a lot of other places around the country. I think this place caters to "foodies" and "hipsters", who boost up their reputation. However, if you want non pretentious, honest, good, flavorful Thai food, don't eat here. read more

Found on some article " worth a trip" and I think it's definitely truly worth a zillion return trips to the authentic Asian food!!! Had crab fried rice and duck noodle . There is Wok hei . If you know what I'm talking about, you know this isn't easy to taste in Maine . Lastly there's magic sauce ! Which is truest chili flake I missed from my grandma kitchen . Thumbs up read more

I'm obsessed with their Vietnamese salad with nuoc cham dressing!!! So fresh! So delicious! I want to eat it everyday, forever. We had the wings, very crispy with a nice hit of bonito flakes. Pork dumplings were juicy and perfectly steamed, chives rice cakes were tasty as well. We got the bulgogi, which was a special which gave us the opportunity to have some of the kimchi yummmmm!! I have to try not to think about this place too often because then I would be here too much. It is very small although I've heard rumors that they are opening in a new location (where ebantide currently is) and the small location will be for carry out. Not sure if that's true but I would risk going after 5:30 without a reservation. read more

My mom and I go here quite frequently. We love the crab fried rice and tofu pad thai. Everyone who works here is super friendly and sweet. Highly recommend! read more

Stumbled upon this place as a recommendation from a local. Although they have a shorter menu than other Thai food places that I have been to, they were very accommodating to food allergies and had a lot of options. I ordered the pad see ew dish and couldn't be more pleased with the flavors and spices. The Tofu was local and there were fresh vegetables as well as homemade rice noodles which were fantastic! I would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to Camden. read more

After several attempts i managed to dine last night. Every time i walk by this place is full. I must say the food (wild rice and tofu) was wonderful. However, the service needs some work, maybe short staffed? Overall the experience was delightful. I certainly intend to visit again. 5 stars....the food is so good read more

My wife's brother gave us the WSJ article recently with a review of Long Grain. He knew we were coming to Maine, and the review made our mouths water. The city we live in has many Thai and Vietnamese restaurants, of which I have probably gone to ten over the years. None of those those overwhelmed me. Overall thoughts: My wife called Long Grain several times to see about getting a reservation. The phone went unanswered, but she persisted. Finally, she called last Saturday and we were able to get a luncheon reservation for this past Wednesday. When we were walking down the street, we expected to see a hanging sign for the restaurant. There is one sign on the door entering the place, but the "Closed" sign was facing out. Based on the crowd there when we arrived and the number of people trying to get into the place for lunch, I would not be surprised if Long Grain's owners go incognito and remove all signage! Unless you had a reservation that day - no lunch, except for a happy few who were seated at the bar. The restaurant has less than thirty seats and people coming in for lunch without reservations were graciously told that they would have to come back another time. The phone rang continually. Boy, was I glad my wife got us reservations. The Food: AMAZING. I could stop there. We started off by sharing the steamed pork dumplings - five little round jewels accompanied by a flavorful sauce. Each dumpling was hot with a moist wrapper twisted at the top and filled with wonderful pork. My wife ordered the wide noodles - sweet soy sauce stir-fried with organic farmer greens (Pad Seaw). The noodles tasted freshly made and the sauce was wonderful. I ordered the Stir Fry - ginger chicken with mushrooms. It came with freshly made rice and the variety of mushrooms in the stir fry. The mushrooms were perfectly cooked - no rubbery tasting morsels here. We will try and get reservations and eat lunch at Long Grain again before we leave Maine. And, if we cannot get a reservation, we plan to go there as soon as they open for the day. Maybe we can be two of the lucky few who get to sit up at the bar for lunch. read more

Highly recommend this restaurant! First, the food: It is on another level of Thai food. Having been to Thailand and enjoyed many delicious meals in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and other places around the country, I can say that Long Grain is the only Thai food I've had in the US that compares to that 'authentic' Thai style. The locally sourced ingredients (eg farm fresh greens, pork belly, chicken) are not only delicious, but also demonstrates a commitment to supporting other local businesses and advancing the local farm and food scene of mid coast maine. The noodles, curries, apps, specials - there's no way you can go wrong with anything, seriously! The staff/ownership: The owner is so nice and welcoming, and the very busy staff are warm and welcoming as well if you engage with them - it seems that some previous reviewers expected to be treated as royalty simply because they were there - I don't get this, as customers, you treat the people preparing and serving your food with respect and generosity and then you can expect that to be reciprocated. As locals previously, and now as a repeat customers that visit from Boston, my wife and I have become very friendly with the staff and have come to know them all as very nice people! Yes, sometimes it takes a while to get a table - expect to wait if you don't have a reservation, that's what happens when restaurants are as good as this place. Takeout: I'll also put a plug in here for the takeout - sometimes food seems to lose its quality when you take out, but that's not the case here. Takeout is a great and quick option here if it's too busy to get a table. The drinks: no shortage of specialty wines and beers The location: The restaurant just moved to a new location (its still in Downtown Camden) and now includes a small Thai food boutique style market that is closed at dinner time. The new location is more spacious than the old, and a but swankier and more comfortable, but the quality of the food is sustained! read more

The food is great the service is absolutely awful! 3hours for take out when I called at 4:30 when they open!? Come on! You guys suck!!!
