So sad, service went from a 10 to 0. Old time favorite has lost the local customers for a reason. The vibe has totally changed and not for the better. Old staff treated old and new customers with real customer service. Some of the best staff are gone since covid. They have struggled for a while and I hung in there, but this last experience was too much. The newer server shared racist comments toward other staff, inappropriate political comments and a lot of fingers pointing at other staff for their poor performance. We watched a lot of food being served to people who ordered after us, but we did not receive our food after a long wait. I'm a long-time customer and I'm not returning. It was that bad! Going back in time this place was always busy. The food was great, and the servers were fast and friendly. I'm a part time residence. LBT was the place to go to learn about the best clamming. fishing and what was going on locally. You could learn who to hire for home projects. I would bring in family and friends and recommend LBT to strangers. When they first reopen after covid they had some big misses in service and the quality of ingredients changed. This did not stop me from returning because I believed in this place. It struggled like other businesses. The pizza and Seafood Chowder was loved by many. My daughter and her family loved the chowder and shared with me it was no longer on the menu. They order the Clam chowder. She said she had 2 bites and could not it eat it. It tasted like dirt. The pizza in the past was excellent, sadly now it is just good. They have a few kind servers. The gal with long dark hair and an older gentleman. The manager quit. They have a few new faces, a loud gal and tall guy. I heard inappropriate political comments, racist comments about a coworker, blaming coworker and for misplace meals. Sad. I don't see local faces and now I know why. I will be happy to support other business in the Peninsula. I went to the Crab Pot. Excellent staff and food. read more

The appitisers were overpriced and the Norwegian pizza tasted like old fish. Told the server of the overpriced appitisers to verify that $12.95 was what was recieved when the order arrived and was told this is the price and there was nothing that they could do. We love a good pub/tavern, and walked in last night when wandering about town and hungry for fish and chips. Ordered a beer, and after reviewing the menu, decided we needed to ask questions about their kitchen and frying shrimp and fish in the same fryer --- my husband is allergic to shellfish, and as we are on our honeymoon, I'd like to keep him around! The server, Tamarra, was super busy, but went straight back to the kitchen to find out for us. Unfortunately, we could not stay for fish and chips last night with his allergy, but big kudos for the service in pulling the beer and the info quickly -- and honestly -- for us. Today, we wanted a burger, so we went back. Tamarra was there again, working her tail off with both tourists and locals, and remembered us. I sat inside for over 45 minutes and never had one waitress come up and asked us what we wanted to drink or eat. My boyfriend got up three times and went and asked multiple servers if We needed to order at the counter or if someone was going to come to our table and they assured us that somebody was going to come wait on us at the table and they never came they walked past us multiple times and and never stopped, those same servers would stop at the booth literally right next to us and wait on those customers. It was extremely rude and poor customer service. I am visiting long beach and when i was inside this bar it felt like they didn't like people from out of town. Because the locals werent invisible. It wasnt that busy. The whole experience was bad from when we came in to when we left. It was hot and muggy inside and there were a bunch of flys and it was dirty. Theres a bartender in there I believe her name is Lisa, she has dark hair, skinny build and average height. She's extremely rude and I think she's drinking while serving her patrons. She wreaked of alcohol when she handed us our food. My sister in law is pregnant and could smell liquor on her breath from a foot away while she was talking/passing out food to our table of 5. This was later in the day so I don't think it was alcohol from the night before. I'm not from around here but our friends are and they said this is typical behavior from this specific bartender. We used to frequent the LBT quite often and it seems like their service has dwindled down over the years. If the owners are reading this, DO BETTER. You're about to hit your busy season, get rid of her and find someone who can stay sober and treat the people paying their bills with a little more respect. read more

I visited this place on 8/16. My total was $29.95 and I tipped $6. total $35.95 (which is a 20% tip). In reviewing my receipts and purchases the server decided to add an additional $10 to their pocket. I wonder how much the server stole from patrons that night? If I were to create my perfect dive bar it would be the LBT! This is another go to stop in Long Beach. It's got wood paneling, a roaring fire, black pleather booths, pool, TVs, pub grub, pull tabs, stiff drinks and cheap beer! I go down to Long Beach with a big group of friends at least once a year. We always make a point to include at least one stop at LBT. It was Daytona 500 Sunday this trip. I'm not really a racing fan myself but when in Long Beach do as the Long Beachers do! Everyone was friendly and having a good time. In the time I was there I got 4 beers, a shot of Jack and a basket of clams & fries for only $24! How can you beat that?!? Love this place! Relaxed and friendly environment and staff. I appreciate that it's not too loud in there so you can easily converse. If you get the right bar tender, strong drinks that are expertly crafted. I told my bar tender I wanted a fruity martini, and she whipped up her own invention that was delicious! Great food as well. I ordered the seafood chowder, calamari, mozzarella sticks. Food was expensive for something that wasn't the best. The seafood chowder had great chunks of seafood meat but the flavor was more sweet. The calamari, did not seem like calamari. I thought they were chicken fingers. Big mistake there! And the mozzarella stick were not stretchy like mozzarella sticks. In fact they were stiff. The only reason this place even deserves a star was the food. My boyfriend was excited to take me here because he's always loved it so much. We went tonight and the bartenders lacked any type of customer service or hospitality. The calamari was good, but I was never checked on after getting my food or brought silverware. After several attempts to get one of the workers attention I ended up eating my Cole slaw without any silverware. Then we were completely ignored when we asked for our bill, for over 10 minutes no one would even acknowledge that my card was sitting on the bar in front of me. A year ago on a whim we stopped in while strolling the town. The seafood chowder was recommended - best recommendation! It was delicious! Sadly I live alone. Which means when I go out, it's a table for one. This is the first time this was a problem. I selected a table out of the way and out of view of the TVs as people were watching the playoffs and I wasn't. The server didn't wait on me for 45 minutes and finally I had to ask if I was to order at the counter. When I did get waited on, I was told how I was taking up too much space. I moved to a different table but nobody sat where I was originally (they wanted to see the game). I quickly ate so I wasn't taking up valuable space. Literally have been waiting for an hour and a half for our food. Well drinks are garbage, under staffed and inattentive staff. Maybe a good place for locals, but not for cultured out of towners. There wasn't much of an opportunity for us to review your food as your waitress / services didn't even acknowledge or given us a chance to order food or any additional drinks. We waited, waited, and waited to get services to no avail. I'm an easy going customer that loves to support a local business whenever give an opportunity. LBT is currently rated as a 3.5 star. Typically I would say if we are going to rate a bar and it's bar food I would say that's above great, if not even maybe a 3 star, but honestly, LBT is pretty damn good and it's probably getting a bad rap it doesn't deserve because people are not looking at this objectively for what it is. LBT is not a seafood establishment, it's not a pizza joint, it's not a steak house. It's a bar people, a tavern to be precise. For a tavern, LBT is killin it. Had a round of shooters, those were spot on. Pulled up a plate of the beer battered fries (and please do not pass this chance up if you have it) those were amazing. I ordered the chicken burger and split it with someone who ordered the fish burger so I was able to try half of each and they were both great! The service was really friendly, felt like there was 5 people serving us (come to think of it I think there was) and each one of them was super nice too. Frankly I expected to get some greased up bar food with a loud rowdy crowd and some crappy attitude touristy bar service. I wasn't just wrong, I was pleasantly surprised and really cant wait to return to LB to have another go at it. The pizza is awesome and I do appreciate tasty cod fillets after a disappointing experience at Loose Kaboose down the road. The chowder was also pretty good. The cheese toast that came with the chowder was kind of a joke though, good cheese bread isn't hard, it was literally the heel of sandwich bread sprinkled with cheddar and toasted to death. Well, we have never been to this tavern before (vacationing at Long Beach, WA.) but have driven by it all these year and we should have kept on driving!! A local said it's the best pizza made on the peninsula. We sat down and it seemed as nice as a tavern could be. My husband saw a baseball cap with the tavern logo hanging on the wall (he collects them). When we placed our order for a med. pepperoni pizza my husband asked about the hat on the wall advertised for $10 and he wanted to buy one. The gal brought over a different hats but indicated that the price was the same. He agreed to buy one and she gave it to him. I put it in my bag. The pizza came and well it's far from locally made but rather a step up from frozen. The pepperoni was under the cheese. A sign of not really getting the pepperoni you had wanted but rather maybe like a handful tossed on and hidden with globs of cheese. Maybe they assemble previously frozen components but sadly it felt like a pit stop pizza. It also sat on our stomachs all night like a brick. Then to top off the visit the gal charges us $25 for the hat and we were like WHAT. Another gal had taken over our table and she explains that there were different prices on the hats and we point to the wall that it says $10. I felt like The Invisible Man at LBT. Stopped in for a beer. I sat down, and put a twenty on the bar in front of me, the universal signal that someone would like to buy something. The bartender walked past me several times without saying a word or even glancing at me. She busied herself serving other customers that were already there when I arrived, so I assumed I was "in the rotation" and waited patiently while reading the newspaper for the next fifteen minutes. Then a group of locals walked in. Immediately, the bartender took care of them - while still ignoring me sitting right f----ng next to them. I finished reading the paper, and still no acknowledgement from the scatterbrained bartender. So I folded my paper, folded my glasses - and folded my twenty-dollar bill, put it back in my pocket and walked out. I've never done that in a bar before, but LBT elevated crappy service to a level I'd never seen anywhere. I tended bar for years, in a series of joints, some not even as nice as this place. So I'm pretty well schooled on how bars work. Because of that, I'm usually an excellent tipper, even for mediocre service. But my twenty-dollar bill - which was theirs for the taking - sprouted wings and flew out their door all because they couldn't trouble themselves to simply make a play on it. This one is a little difficult to rate as I had two different experiences here. The first night we came in our waiter was super friendly. He told us about what was on tap and when we said we wanted a pizza he talked us into the captain (so much pizza!) and also a double pepperoni. We had some local cider that was on tap which was also really good. We took our pizzas to go. He even suggested some places for us to visit in Astoria. The bar was pretty full but he took the time to be a kind human to some out of town folks. Now onto the second (and last) time we came in to this tavern. We were seated in a different section with a new waiter. She told us, over her shoulder while running around, that she'd be right back. The bar was just as full as our first experience. No big deal if she's busy, we just wanted a drink while we waited for our table at the Drop Anchor. When she came back and asked what we wanted, I said my usual response "what do you have on tap?" Even though I knew which ciders there were. She mumbled something while pointing at a chalk board. Since she was basically tapping her foot waiting for our answer I just panicked and said "the cider please" lol. We got a pitcher and she asked, before we got our drinks, if that was all we were going to be having for the night. That is weird because... It's a bar and if we wanted another drink shouldn't we be able to decide that after our first drink? She brought our cider and like 2 minutes later brought our bill. She was so rude and obviously trying to get us out of the bar. She came back with a mobile credit card reader and the option for a tip was already on the screen. I selected "no tip" and she slammed the card reader down on the table while my card was being charged. We won't be coming back. Unfortunate because the pizza was delicious.
