My friend and I were in Astoria as it had been a childhood dream to come here and check out the Goonies sites. We were looking for a place to grab some food and drinks and came in here because our 1st choice was full. Willah (spelling?) was at the bar and we asked her for a food recommendation. She gave us a few options nearby, once of which was the Mexican place across the street. We ended up going there and had the best time, so we wanted to come back to say thanks and have a drink. We ended up staying here the rest of the night. It was the perfect, clean, dive bar. We talked to some locals, laughed, had fun and felt like we were one of the neighbours. The atmosphere was friendly and light. It wasn't overly loud, so you could actually have a conversation. I only wish this place was in where I live now as I'd come here all of the time. read more

You know, you read some of these reviews and it seems like The Triangle is an awful place. I think we had severely different experiences. We were served by Ashley. Contrary to other reviews, she was delightful, engaging, kept checking in, and I even got a hug at the end. I don't know - doesn't seem to be the awful person that is mentioned in these reviews. Let's talk about the selection. They had a great selection: beer, wine, spirits, non alcohol. They have some food but all we had was a bag of Doritos, so I can't speak to that. However I was impressed with their selection of both national and local brands. Last note: the ambiance was great. The bar is exactly what you would hope for in a local bar: local history, great signage, funny quotes on the wall, and fun, kitschy Christmas decorations. Glasses and tables were all clean, bathroom was clean, and it seems like the locals were all friendly and approachable. We'll be back. read more

Definitely a great dive bar to go to if you are in the area. We were bar hopping around town. This is was probably one of the last bar we went to. There were bunch of people in this place. Full of friendly and welcoming people. Mostly local, if you can tell. We got couple of drinks from there, before we called a night. Our bartender, she was really friendly and interacting with all her customer which was awesome. Cheap drinks and friendly service/people. I will for sure come back to this little cozy bar again in the future! read more

Fun dive bar on the weekend (and probably the weekday but we were only here on Saturday) Laid back place with good drinks and welcoming environment. Our group of friends came in here after having dinner across the street and did not mean to stay so long except the lady behind the bar made it so much fun that we just kept staying and drinking after the first few games of pool were over. I can't wait to come back here next time we are in town. Next time I will try the chili. read more

Absolutely insane- walked in for service and bartender didn't serve us at bar- went to end of the bar- waitress was wanting to deliver drinks- then bartender made a comment of saying I was intoxicated- hilarious. Great little historic .dive bar Friendly bartender and a nice mix of local color and travelers. You can tell tourist towns because inevetably someone will ask "where are you from". Drinks came "tall" automatically, not sure why but they tasted kind of watery so I think next time I will stick with shots of beer. Overall not a bad experience and we would return. read more

The ambiance was amazing! People were great! Everyone was friendly, the bartender was great too! She was so nice and friendly. Felt like I made some friends once I left. Didn't try the food but people who were there said we had to go back to try. What I loved most is they have a bell that they ring when drinks are on them. When they rang that bell and everyone in the bar cheered including the bartender I was confused, had 4 drinks on someone else. That was great. Thank you!!! I'll be back! read more

Make that a negative one star. Just pulled into town & wanted a close by place for a drink & found this dive next door to the hotel. I peeked in the door before before entering. Knew right away it was prominently locals, but felt "safe". Sat down with my husband. Fat, male, bearded bartender comes over. I specifically & VERY clearly stated I'd like a tequila with club soda & a splash of oj. He immediately said he wasn't going to serve me. I asked if he was joking & he said, "no, because I was slurring." My husband said I wasn't. I'm absolutely offended as I have NEVER been cut off, nor denied service in my 54 yrs of life. UNREAL. Of course, we immediately exited. Went to the Workers bar nearby & had zero issues. Shared my experience with some locals there & learned the bartender at the Triangle has a reputation with his attitude & his name was possibly Travis. Here's a clue, maybe don't judge so quick before denying service. It seems from other reviews, I haven't been the only victim. I didn't judge you on your weight until you discriminated against me. It wasn't like I was obnoxious falling all over the place. Hope the owner can review possible cameras of our short visit. I also am known to talk super fast & you never know if a person has a speech impediment. We had a blast at Workers two nights in a row. Glad our money went to them instead. Their place is more classy as well. I'd think you'd treat tourists better and depend on them. The rest of the establishments in Astoria we visited were top notch. We will be back, but will never give your establishment a penny. I also have shared my experience with all of my friends who may consider to visit. One, in fact, is pretty sure it was the same place they got denied service as well. Do better. read more

1 star solely because of the bartender named Ashley. The most most unprofessional and rudest bartender I've ever met. Apparently if you are not one of her favorite locals she feels it's her right to treat you with disrespect. The other people that work there are great but she is the polar opposite and cannot believe she actually is employed working with customers. Sad to see such an iconic tavern be ruined by one bad apple. Management, please strongly consider firing Ashley due to her toxicity and unprofessional behavior. Stopped here on our way home from Long Beach. We were here for less than 30 minutes but that was long enough to fall in love. Oyster shooters are fresh and delicious, beer was cold and the atmosphere was perfect. So there's a super gregarious female bartender on some nights who's worth the stay. They should have her on most nights.

It is what it is and it is perfect at what it is. This is a small, local dive bar. I love dive bars and only because I meet genuine people and am allowed to relax. No false pretenses here. The Triangle is small. It has one pool table, a small bar, Oregon Lottery and just recently started serving liquor. They now accept credit cards. They have a tiny kitchen that you can see from the bar. The food is basic hotdog hamburger style. This is not a dining destination. I don't think about eating food here. I come for the feel of this place. I come to sit with the locals and talk to the personable bartenders. These bartenders do not work for tips and they don't do fancy dances. This is a hometown establishment. I recommend the Triangle if you are looking for a comfortable place to sit and relax and not have to worry about tourism. They do have local brews. The bartenders are as sweet as pie but they will also let you know if you are acting like a jerk. For a dive bar the Triangle gets four stars. Almost perfect in its own right. read more

The Triangle is everything you would expect and want from a bar, in the Union district of Astoria. Classic Dive Bar - make no mistake about it. If you are a hardcore foodie or gastro pub type - this is not yer place. However, if you're open to small bar expericence, and open to sharing yourself with the locals, then you will have a great time. That's what makes this place great - the staff are more than friendly, and if you are a nice person then you will be accepted , no problem! If however, you try to pull the 'Money, Power, or Title' card and expect special treatment...this place has no problem reminding you that you 'pull your pants on the same way as all rest of us' and get over yourself! Thank God. Its why its my fave dive bar in all of Astoria. If I truly want to relax and just drink a beer, tell and hear stories, and unwind, then this this my place of choice, everytime. FYI - as a reformed Portland foodie snob, do not pass up on the homemade chili! Its hearty and it warms the belly well - and served over a standard hot dog, onions, shredded cheddar and all, and you will feel like an 8 yr old in heaven again, just with permission to chase it down with a adult beverage. read more

This is the most negative bar I've been in, it's no wonder it's empty on a Saturday night. The bartender is horrible and rude and gave me a hateful stare down in between her heading off to the bathroom with her friends to do drugs. Visiting a friend from out of town who took me to her neighborhood bar. As soon as we walked in there was commotion. Come to find out and off duty bartender was fighting with clientele about them mistaking their drink for hers. Long story short she ended up chasing them out of the bar with a bat. Completely inappropriate. I will never return to this bar on any future visits. How uncomfortable. You lost a group of 6 who was ready to spend money and have a good time. What a great little dive. We were looking for a quick beer before calling it a night and found this gem. Excellent service! A small cozy bar that fifteen years ago may have been covered in a haze of smoke but no more! Everything was clean, tables and chairs, and not too loud.
