I'm not a local - I'm a tourist, visiting the Lincoln sites and looking for lunch. That said, my…read moreimpression of The Stadium Smokehouse is that it's a bar that serves food. As a bar it appeared to be a neighborhood hangout and is probably pretty good. As a BBQ restaurant, not so good. The service was OK, she was fast and attentive. The sides (cole slaw and potato salad) were right out of food service tubs. The French fries were OK. But you come to a BBQ restaurant for what . . . BBQ. The Brisket was probably cooked days ago and kept in the refrig. The waitress said that they slice it and throw it on the flat top to heat it up. Yea, it also dries it out and gives it a hard crust. The smoke ring and taste was OK, you just had to drown it in sauce to soften it up. My wife had smoked turkey and it was exactly the same, good smoke ring, interesting taste, but dry and hard from the flat top. The only thing interesting was the sausage made out of burnt ends that was really good after I fished it out from under all the cheese sauce the drowned it with. Who puts cheese sauce on smoked sausage? Ball park franks maybe, not smoked sausage! The only reason for even two stars was the service and the sausage.

I just found out today that they have a brunch menu too...definitely coming back to try! Their specialty bowl this week was a Jamaican jerk chicken bowl and it was seriously to DIE FOR (and only $16!)!! I really really hope they make this bowl a permanent menu item because I would eat it every day for every meal if I could for the rest of my life. This is legitimately the first review I've ever left of a public place and I couldn't wait to get on here to rave about this restaurant if that tells you anything. Come here! Bring everyone!

My mom ordered pasta with marinara off the kids menu. I was so relieved they let us order off the kids menu for her because she is picky and doesn't eat a big quantity. It was the perfect portion. Last week I shared the ahi tuna bowl with my bro and onion strings appetizer. Mom had a side of Mac n cheese. Excellent food and service. It is quite loud in here and a sports bar and grill atmosphere. Also a bit on the chilly side with the air conditioning but it is quite hot out today!

SO glad I walked for a mile in the blistering heat to come here…read more I am staying at the super 8, and it was on the hotel recommendation list. I wanted to watch the Michigan wolverines game so I called down there and spoke to a really nice woman, who ended up being my bartender when I got there. I was originally going to go to four stars, but they are getting five because the bartender told me that they would change the channel for me at whatever TV I was sitting at so I could watch my game! I sat at the bar naturally after being greeted by the really nice hostess. Now generally I despise this state outside of rural areas because the people here are just menacingly rude and judgmental. That being said, walking to the bar, all of the afternoon patrons in there were casting looks at me that could tame a rabid polar bear. Already dealing with that in other parts throughout the state, I just sat there and smiled as they stared and judged. Anyhow, my first bartender, I never caught her name, but she was excellent! Took really good care of me. Shift change in the middle of my visit, and my second bartender was jennifer, she was equally as delightful! I ordered fried okra for an appetizer when I got there, drank some beers, had a couple VERY well proportioned glasses of whiskey and watched my game. Come suppertime, I turned around to see the crowd and the entire restaurant was completely packed! And the personalities of the people that I interacted with at this point were a complete 180. SUPER nice people. For supper I ordered the ribeye, rare. I first cut into it and it looked medium, but sometimes steak just Cooks quicker in certain areas, but outside of the end piece that was cooked perfectly. I had a loaded baked potato which was seasoned great, and green beans and I had blackberry cobbler for dessert, per the recommendation of my bartender. Right through the doors, they have gaming, and a few slot machines also, if that's your thing. I really enjoyed the decorum, and the place was really clean, even the bathrooms. It's not very often that I would return to a restaurant in the state, but this is definitely worth revisiting if I'm ever back in the area! ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. While staying in Springfield, Illinois, where Abraham Lincoln built much of his life and career, I…read morehad dinner at The Globe Tavern & Restaurant, located inside the President Abraham Lincoln Springfield - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in downtown Springfield. On a Monday night, this isn't a tourist-heavy spot. The atmosphere felt very much like a working dinner environment, with nearby tables engaged in animated and colorful conversations about what sounded like upcoming Illinois legislative meetings. It gave the whole experience a unique, real-time connection to the state capital just steps away. After a heavier meal earlier in the day, I decided to go lighter and ordered the crabcake bites from the small plates section and made them my dinner. The menu is clearly set up to support that kind of choice, and pairing them with a fresh side salad turned out to be a great call. The salad was crisp, well-prepared, and a solid complement to the meal, with dressing served on the side. The crabcake bites themselves were excellent and worked well as a smaller, satisfying dinner when combined with the salad. This is a practical option if you're not looking for a full heavy entrée but still want something quality. Overall, this is a convenient and well-executed dining option right inside the hotel, especially for anyone staying nearby or doing business around the Illinois State Capitol. The combination of solid food, efficient service, and a uniquely "Springfield" atmosphere made for a very enjoyable evening. The Globe Tavern & Restaurant 701 E Adams St Springfield, IL 62701
