Amazing drinks! You need to try this place. You can get food from Roots ran over. The best of both worlds. Great date night!

I tried this place with a friend. We had reviewed the menu online so we would have an idea of what…read moreto eat when we got there. The in house menu does not match the online menu, but we both enjoyed our sushi rolls. So you walk in and upon approaching you can't miss the beer garden. If it wasn't so windy that day it would have been a perfect dine outside situation. But because of the wind we got a booth inside. In the middle of the floor is bar height tables a chairs, booths along one side of the room. The booths are only on one side because the other side is a beer wall. That's right, I said a beer wall. A wall full of taps. You get a swipe card and it charges your swipe card by the ounce. I don't drink beer but my friend appeared to be really happy with the selection. Because she couldn't pick just one, she made herself a flight. That's right, you can make your own beer flight from the beer wall. So for you beer drinkers I imagine this west side establishment is a hidden gem. I'd definitely come here again, with spouses and adult children in tow. There was fun food, good drinks and some entertainment. And not just karaoke either. We played name that tune. There was a prize at the end but we didn't stay long enough to see the winner. Well, we also didn't play competitively enough to be the winner either. But we had a great time and for a fair price. So, let it be said...I give this place 2thumbs up and definitely give it my seal of approval.

The food and drinks were good, not mouthwatering, but definitely enjoyable. Not to mention this place has a wall of taps that are self-pour! We had a couple of beers, cocktails, and sushi and were pleased with all! The staff was meh. A lot of waiting on our part, but we're overall kind when they did check in on us. I wouldn't write home about this place, but if you're looking for a cool place nearby with good beer and good sushi, then it's your place! Outdoor patio is dog friendly which is a plus.

October 30, 2025. I'm so sorry to write a negative review; I really don't like to complain,…read moreBUT... I had picked LONG 9 for lunch for a monthly lunch meeting with friends as I'd been there 4 years ago and the restaurant was quiet and comfortable and lunch was good. It's still a lovely, quiet restaurant and so nice to be able to hear a conversation....but the food today was horrible!! The waitress was personable and friendly. I ordered the small plate French Dip sliders. I should have refused what came. Menu says "sliced sirloin, carmelized onions...." What I got looked like the scrapings of hamburger bits from a too-hot grill (in fact, perhaps it was, as my friend ordered a burger and it was burnt). The meat scrapings were on 3 Hawaiian rolls with a smattering of grilled onions and cheese to hide it. A bowl of au jus came with it. I did manage to consume some by dipping it in the au jus but that was very salty and I lost my appetite quickly. What a disappointment! One of my friends ordered a hamburger (came with lots of fries); the burger was burnt but she ate parts of it. My other friend ordered salad (it was ok) and soup d'jour. The soup finally arrived 10 minutes after our meal and tasted canned. Her breadstick was hard and inedible in the middle--obviously stale and nuked. Awful! I can't begin to say how disappointed we all were. We left our waitress good tips because it was not her fault. She did offer to bring us something else to eat. We should have taken her up on the offer. Perhaps the "cook" could have made us decent sandwiches to take home? What a disappointment. We'd give it a negative star rating and we are not picky people. I sure would love to hear back from a manager about this!

On a Monday night, this isn't a tourist-heavy spot. The atmosphere felt very much like a working dinner environment, with nearby tables engaged in animated and colorful conversations about what sounded like upcoming Illinois legislative meetings. It gave the whole experience a unique, real-time connection to the state capital just steps away. After a heavier meal earlier in the day, I decided to go lighter and ordered the crabcake bites from the small plates section and made them my dinner. The menu is clearly set up to support that kind of choice, and pairing them with a fresh side salad turned out to be a great call. The salad was crisp, well-prepared, and a solid complement to the meal, with dressing served on the side. The crabcake bites themselves were excellent and worked well as a smaller, satisfying dinner when combined with the salad. This is a practical option if you're not looking for a full heavy entrée but still want something quality. Overall, this is a convenient and well-executed dining option right inside the hotel, especially for anyone staying nearby or doing business around the Illinois State Capitol. The combination of solid food, efficient service, and a uniquely "Springfield" atmosphere made for a very enjoyable evening. The Globe Tavern & Restaurant 701 E Adams St Springfield, IL 62701

Instead, I got a plastic container (hello toxic emissions, that thing is NOT intended for hot food) with soup blopped in it that looked like it had been pulled out of the freezer. To add insult to injury, the cutlery packet included in the bag (fork, knife, napkin, salt, pepper... um... it's kind of missing something important for the consumption of SOUP... the pack had been opened and the spoon removed, then I guess they threw the opened pack back in with the rest of the packs. Lucky me). The soup was just under $10, so plus tax & tip it wound up close to $15. I had to drink it from the plastic container because I was not, after a 12 hour journey, trudging back downstairs to get myself a damn spoon. And I asked for a roll or a slice of bread... and got a couple of packets of stale crackers. Really, really unimpressed.
