Had two amazing meals here this week. Isra C. was our server yesterday (Sunday) and very attentive. I got the fish sandwich with cornmeal breading and fries. My mom and bro got the soup of the day tomato bisque. Aunt got onion rings and a margherita flatbread pizza. Everything was very good and perfect portions. I asked for a kids menu as my mom doesn't eat much and they gave me a cute little coloring sheet menu with crayons. Mom opted for the soup of the day instead but there were several things she could have gotten, much appreciated to know this. We were also here on Tuesday evening and they had Music Bingo!!!! We had a blast, my bro won a game and a gift card to use at the restaurant! Very generous and a fun time. A very good selection of wine and food, special summer menu with drinks and desserts. I really can't say enough about Finley's. The service was excellent and so was the food. They have a wide variety of items to choose from on their menu and if what we had is any indication of the flavor, as first time visitors I can say we'll definitely be back! My spouse had the Pasta with Broccoli and Mushrooms with chicken added and she loved it! It's a large portion and she had enough for another meal to take back to the hotel. I had the Yakisoba Noodle Saute with chicken added that was excellent! I'd have a hard time skipping it next time we visit to try something else. My fiance and I came here for an afternoon hang out and got lunch and it was so worth it! I got the smoked brisket dip with homemade kettle chips, and my boyfriend got the grilled salmon sandwich and everything was so fresh, homemade and absolutely delicious! We have been Finley's over the years several times and always had great food and drinks. Today was very different. Our server was very nice and attentive. Food on the other hand was very disappointing. We had Brussel sprouts as appetizers, which was as good as we remembered but our main dishes were really lacking the flavor. My Nashville hot chicken sandwich was anything but hot or spicy, it was basic breaded chicken sandwich with barbecue sauce on the side. My husband's brisket sandwich was just regular roast beef sandwich, tasteless, and our truffle fries were soggy. I don't think we'll back again. read more

Upon arriving at the restaurant seated right away, it took five minutes too order drink water and then asked about doing happy hour as told they happy hour beer was out because they had not received it but that was kind of crazy she said well we only get a delivery once a month was amazing we should've taken it as a key to leave however we ordered about 15 minutes; because she was waiting on tables had a presentation close to where we were setting. Diner3: Salmon on mashed potatoes--salmon was burnt and dry, potatoes stuck to the plate as if with Elmer's Glue Diner 4: Horseshoe with hamburger meat--cheese sauce cold and more salty than cheesy. diner ate all of it because he was "so hungry" Diner 5: Cajun Pasta with mushrooms and red bell peppers. pasta was overcooked and clumping, sauce had flavor of garlic-infused salt water. Mushrooms and red bell pepper- 3 very thin slices of each and one red pepper sliver was overripe and rotten. Service: beyond poor: received starter but no napkins or plates/forks till requested twice. Entrees were served without napkins and flatware. dinnerware from starter not removed when entrees served. server disappeared for 20-30 minutes at a time during our visit, preventing timely feedback and attention to our needs. at end of meal, we waited 20 minutes for server to bring the check. we then asked man at the bar if he could ask our server to bring the check--he replied that she had probably gone home or was out smoking. she turned up about 20 minutes later. We came on a beautiful night so we sat outside. Perfect weather. The service was what I'd expected. The menu prices were a bit on the high side but honestly after eating it is worth it. I had a handheld chicken bacon sandwich and the potato salad was homemade. Amazing. The cheese curds with beer batter cheese, amazing. My ex husband had the horseshoe. He said it was good. My friends and I arrived to Finley's at 8:30. We were seated immediately and our waitress vanished. Twenty minutes go by and no one has even offered us waters. If the place was packed I would have been more understanding but at least half of the tables were empty and I saw at least three workers on the floor. Every single table was getting attention beside us. I saw a table get a full condiment refill. Got refills on drinks. And get food all different tables all different times. I am just astonished with this service since this was our first time coming here and have always heard extremely high things of Finley's. Per Google search results: "A gastropub is actually a combination of the words pub (short for "public house") and gastronomy (the study of the relationship between culture and food). Think of a gastropub as a, "restaurant in a pub." This place seems pretty popular, it was packed when we arrived and there was a wait. I saw all the demographics here, just as you would within your neighborhood. So they nailed that local watering hole expectation. I have a feeling this place is bustling even more during warmer weather, as they have an outdoor patio area too. Upon being sat, I noticed there was a quite a bit of debris on the floor and I had to dodge a few tater tots. I mean, we all drop stuff but it looked unprofessional. The vibe reminded me of a self-taught interior designer from the '90's who could not relinquish control and allow the more contemporary designer to do their thing. BRICK RED ALERT! BRICK RED ALERT! Brick red is not trending and no one told Midwesterners; as they are still doing accent walls too. Also, the other walls were mustard yellow (if memory serves). Then we have those generic canvas pictures on the wall. Beer taps in foreground? Heck yeah. Wine glass in foreground? Probably. Carpet? No!!! Let the contemporary designer continue ripping out the carpet and adding in wood floors that match what is around the bar. Let's keep going with the natural looking rock walls and built in fireplaces. While we're talking about updates, let's drop the cocktail menu cleverly named after Queen songs. Are we having a good time? Now you may be saying, "Ang, we've seen you go on about clever menu descriptions and puns. What gives?" Sometimes, when it's sprinkled here and there it is clever. With everything else feeling outdated, this just added to the body of evidence. There's a difference. Okay. Where was I? So the appetizer of cheese curds with sriracha aioli was ordered. The presentation was cool (served in a mini fry basket) and it tasted on point. Yet, the size was surprisingly small. I'm looking at the appetizer, thinking about the $14 price, trying not to chuckle at the absurdity, while listening to my husband encourage me to just enjoy the food. Yeah, he was right but that was not the serving size I expected. I ordered a Cesar Salad to balance out the deep fried cheese curds and paid around $14 for that too. Meat options were available for an up charge of $3-$5. What?! Now here is where I grab my soapbox. How can you serve a meatless salad and charge the same as a burger with a side? If I order a burger without the bacon, why don't I get a price reduction? If you offer vegetarian options, why don't you add in a creative side so the price feels justified. I'm kind of tired of paying the overhead for the entire restaurant. I'm eating salad folks. Up charge the carnivores so they can pay their fair share. I'm so annoyed at this point. This isn't just an issue with this place, it's most places! Just balance the perceived value. Most people will not pay $20 and $4.99 in shipping and handling. However, they will pay $24.99 with free shipping. Same with the menu. Burgers should cost more than a basic salad. Now I'm just complaining. Sorry! Overall, it was an average experience. Pub food should feel inexpensive and if it's not, the value needs to be upped. I would probably go back if I was with others who really liked this place. On my own accord, probs not. Attended Finleys with friends on Feb 10th. The bruschetta Benedict had red onion on it. That was not on the menu. Had it been listed I would not have ordered it. Also there was no holindaise sauce. The English muffin was dry. The only moisture came from the poached egg on top which was nowhere near enough. The egg and yolk was lovely. It also included avacado which also wasn't listed on the menu but I love avacados so no biggie. But the red onion overpowered every other taste. I ended up having an onion Benedict. It was horrible. There was no tomatoes. I believe there was still at least balsamic drizzled but it was not prominent. This place used to be so good and my first brunch there was total crap. I'm so glad we randomly chose this place for lunch. It will be our new go to in Springfield. Everything about it was great, food, drinks and service. We sat at the bar, so bartender Laura was our server. She was friendly and had great suggestions and info about drinks and menu. She made us several cocktails that were fun and super tasty. I ordered the Harlem supper club chicken. It was juicy, crispy, salty, sweet, it was stellar. Hand cut fries were crisp and well seasoned. My husband ordered bourbon gouda burger, he said it was good and the homemade potato chips were phenomenal. Can't wait to try more menu items on future visits. Stopped in two weeks ago and my party of seven had a mixed response. My food was outstanding, however, three of my dinner guests had their food come out wrong or simply did not enjoy their meal. Everyone loved the Autumn/Halloween cocktails but our waitress was not on top of her game; bit all over the place and it bothered some of my group. All in all I would go back again but some of the group said they would not. If the prices were 30% cheaper maybe you could bypass the small mistakes but for a tab of four the total hit $200...too expensive to have a mixed review from the crowd! read more

Worst ever! We went on Sunday morning for brunch at 11 am and they were no longer serving... it's not brunch it's breakfast then. Brunch is from open until like 2pm not 9:30am. Yes it was a table of 10 but still our waitress didn't pick up a single glass off the table until I took all 12 and put it on a clean table. The food was ok but they charge for everything! This was my first visit to Finley's Tap House but I will definitely be back! The service was friendly and very good. The food was absolutely amazing. Kudo's to the chef for sure. The only reason my review isn't a five star is because the Taps we let down and we couldn't try any of the craft beers which was part of the reason we chose this place for our family to have a get together. They were very apologetic and said that it being Sunday they couldn't get the company out to repair it. Considering Sunday is the only day that they open at 11 am. I would think that they could have paid for a Sunday repairman. Hence the four star. Just bad timing for us unfortunately. Burgers are a bit on the pricey side at 16.99 but they are specialty burgers so we felt it was priced right for what you get. Everything was absolutely worth the trip! This was a bad bad dinning experience. We got seated by a kind waitress... and she handed our kids menus which were 9.99 a piece ?!?!!? I have three kids and it was lunch on a Sunday so now i am realizing that it will be very over priced. I am from Texas and I am used to good portions and great food.... Since living in the Midwest i have lowered beyond lowerd my expectations. I had heard from lots of locals this was sooooo good. So i tried it..... my son and i split chicken and waffles, my daughter ordered fries with a side of ranch and my 11 yo ordered fettuccine Alfredo on the kids menu. The food came out the fettuccine was in a 2-3 oz bowl.... I literally burst out laughing when i saw the size . My daughters fries were on a large bowl and had great ranch. The chicken and waffles was beyond strange soooooo spicy chicken that tasted vinegary with hardly any salt and a waffle that tasted and had the texture of a sugar cookie. We couldn't even finish two bites before both of us regretted it. At the end our bill was 36.00 it had a 3% up-charge just so they wouldn't need to increase the prices. Lol!!!!!! The prices were so high.... ambiance was just ok. Minus the bathroom Which had poo stains all over the seat. We saw other tables get served the food and the kids burgers and fries were huge so why the tiniest blandest portion of fettuccine Alfredo??? Also no side at all With chicken and waffles.... And the fries and side of ranch ended up costing 6.00 lol!!!!!! This has made me never want to try another local Restaurant that is American food..... it is the worst. read more

This has to be one of my favorite casual restaurants in town. Food is always delicious and the service is outstanding! They have a great rotating tap menu that I appreciate. If you can request Jessica, you will be happy you did. She is an amazing server and very knowledgeable of all the food and drinks they serve. There are so many positives about this place - the food (everything is good), the service (our waitress was delightful but professional), and the clientele were average hard working people. The music was a bit loud & so we're other conversations- but the fault there is the hard surfaces on the structure itself. We tried brunch at Finley's because Le Pepe(amazing) was a 45 minute wait with piles of people in the parking lot. There is a reason so many people are there and there was no wait at Finley's. It seems Finley's thought they could catch all the overflow business from Le Pepe but they just aren't prepared for it. The prices are reasonable but we waited 1 hour for our food and could have eaten at Le Pepe instead. The wait staff complained about all the people coming in and how busy they would be. Not a good experience. They should focus on dinner and just stick with what they do pretty well. read more

Beer served was flat, and we were told by the waiter that we were wrong about that, the beer comes out of the "same tap"...made no sense. We offered the waiter to taste the beer, but he just kept making us feel like we were incorrect. No customer wants to feel like they are making a fuss or are wrong about their observations. Hands down our favorite place to eat in Springfield. We've been here 10+ times and never had bad food. Drinks are great, staff is friendly and always very knowledgeable about the menu. We have to get the Brussel sprouts every time we go. I'm on a veggie press sandwich kick, and haven't been able to get anything else since trying it. Very unique flavor combinations and something different than your typical "bar food." My only feedback would be the fries are just OK. There's so many other options that it doesn't bother me. My wife and I, and two of our friends, visited tonight for dinner. Food was good, service was good and then we got the bill. A 3% supplier cost surcharge??? The reason, I suspect, you add this to the receipt after we have eaten is we are stuck with the fee, and you do not want to pay to have your menus redone. Patrons should be warned of this surcharge prior to ordering. We will not be returning anytime soon. Instead of paying cash as planned, we used a credit card so you can enjoy that 'surcharge'. Very disappointed in this underhanded way to obtain more money from your customers. FYI, the restaurant later advised via Facebook the surcharge is listed on the menu. Not sure how you might read a menu, but I am looking for the food items, not the extra surcharge fine print. My wife and I attended Finley's for our Anniversary dinner while we were in Springfield shopping. We had a 20 minute wait, which was ok. However after that the waiting continued. Our waitress seemed very preoccupied with something going on at the bar. We ordered a cocktail and beer with waters and some roasted brussel sprouts. She came back with our drinks, minus the water, and asked if we wanted to order an appetizer. I replied "Yes the roasted brussel sprouts, when we order the drinks.?." She apologized, and said she get that in. She asked if we were ready to order then. We were, and ordered. My wife ordered the Chops Diane, and I had the steak with glaze. A little later, brought out by a different waitress, we received the brussel sprouts and they were under cooked and very crunchy. We sat for awhile and then the main course came. My wife said her's was delicious! Mine on the other had was under cooked / raw, and served with cold potatoes. I would have asked to have it sent back but our waitress was not around. Finally she came by and asked if I needed a Togo box. She apologized for not being attentive. Maybe it was just a bad night.
