I had traveled to Springfield for work, and was excited to try a Horseshoe. The hotel where I was staying displayed a list of restaurants that offered Horseshoes, and I picked D'arcy's Pint because of the positive Yelp reviews. I arrived for a late lunch around 2 pm. It was fairly busy, especially for mid afternoon. I ordered a veggie Horseshoe, with extra cheese. The cheese sauce is incredible, I definitely recommend ordering extra cheese. The Horseshoe was excellent! Service was very fast and super friendly. My meal was huge and I took more than half home in a box. Besides their famous Horseshoes there were many other menu items I would like to try. There are many vegetarian selections on the menu. I'll definitely return here the next time I am in Springfield. read more

Visiting my daughter and her husband here from Washington state and they've heard good things about D'arcy's Pint. They heard the shoe was supposed to be the best in town and the first time they came to try. The line for seating was out the door. We had dinner last night had the chicken bacon sandwich on a ciabatta roll, the Philly cheesesteak shoe, and the whole fried catfish for dinner. We were disappointed with the taste of the food that was served. The chicken sandwich was OK, the cheesesteak shoe was bland and the catfish, although the breading was tasty the fish was mushy and tasted like dirt. It's been several years since we've dined here and it was a very snowy day, sign on the door said they were going to close early due to the weather but we still had plenty of time for lunch. Even though they seemed really busy but we were seated right away. My wife had the house salad and added grilled chicken, I ordered the hamburger ponyshoe because I heard they were really good here. Our food came out extremely fast (too fast for fresh cooked food) the French Fries on my Pony shoe were a little undercooked and soft and the burger seemed to be precooked because it was barely warm and the cheese sauce was still hot. It was okay but I wouldn't order it again especially when the best Ponyshoe/Horseshoe in the state is at another restaurant just around the corner. We decided to stop by while in town for a WPBL game. Based on suggestions from others, we went a couple of hours prior to game time and the place was already busy but we didn't have a wait! Went on a Saturday evening and it was really busy. Got lucky and found seats at the bar so only had to wait about 5 minutes. I had the strawberry salad which is always good. My wife went with the boom-boom shrimp and she loved it. We had a starter of the 217 Baked Brie, which was the cheese with raspberry, chipotle, apple butter jam with slivered almonds. A staple in Springfield, IL! My mom and I go here every St. Patty's Day, and the wait is always just as long as it is on the holiday. As a native to the Springfield area, I already expected the long wait- about forty minutes on a Friday. The speed of food makes up for it (at least if you get horseshoes because they crank them out in bulk). What is a horseshoe sandwich? It is Texas Toast, meat ( sliced turkey was my choice), and cheese sauce with fries on top. I don't eat much, so I chose Pony size, which is less cheese and fries. Darcy's Pint is an Irush pub. Ive heard great things about. Lines are all the way out the door. I went at the perfect time. There wasn't a wait. I liked the decor. The food was good but not great. I would have been disappointed if i had waited outside to get a table. But I would go back. I got the horseshoe pint. If I knew what that meant I would have gotten the half pint. It was huge! The fries were smothered in cheese and somewhere underneath was my grilled chicken. I was trying to eat more healthier but I was visiting Springfield and had to try it. Basic ass bar with some average food. D'Arcy's Pint is a place to get sloppy drunk and eat sloppily to be honest. It's nothing fancy for sure. Good place for the basics. They're best known for serving the Springfield classic Horseshoe, a big ass open sandwich covered in cheese and whatever. As the saying goes, it's not for the faint of heart. It's best to make sure your heart is good before going, really. The stuff here they serve. Drinks are good. It's about $6 for a cocktail or so. Everyone should have an Irish Mule. This is made with ginger beer, lime, mint, and Paddy's. Both of us got one. We also got one of the few healthy food options, the House Salad. It's about $7 for a big one. This came with cheese, which we left off, and a ton of vegetables. Getting this avoids clogging arteries. The Horseshoe is the main thing. It's a massive open faced sandwich with a crap ton on it. This is covered in a cheese sauce. For those wanting to pig out, get a Horseshoe. If not, there's drinks and other food for those with smaller stomachs. We went during a very busy time (dinner rush) but surprisingly we were seated immediately after arriving. On tour performing at the state fair and had the pleasure of stopping in here and all the locals told us it was to the "go to!" Spot! We were greeted kindly and ordered the red ale to start. This was a deelish brew and then my buddy got the corn beef hoarse-shoe and I got fries and an Irish coffee. I'm vegan but after talking to the Wednesday night crew and getting to know them/their menu is well diverse, made from scratch daily, and they can accommodate all types of dietary requests!
