Yummy yummy spot with great Mexican food! The mexican street corn was full of flavor and the half lime that came with it was amazing and greatly appreciated. The birria beef tacos had a decent amount of flavor but definitely could've had more and we wish a lime wedge had came with it. The Lone Star Margarita was good but was pretty much your average marg and the Congress St was decent but a little on the bitter side. It can get a little pricey but if you're looking for good authentic Mexican food, this is a must stop!
Some of the best tacos in the area. Patio dining available and not too busy on a Monday night. The guacamole, salsa Roja and Lone star Margarita are all great. Would also recommend the Dallas spicy beef tacos. We also ordered chicken gringa tacos (a special for the evening) and loved them. Only negative was service was a bit slow but we haven't noticed that in the past so may have just been an off night.
Growing up in Texas and recently moving to New England from Colorado I have been DYING to find some authentic Mexican food. This fits the bill and then some. We started with a large bowl a fresh guacamole and chile con queso, both of which were fantastic, especially because of the chips! The pictures don't do it justice because it was dark inside and I didn't want to use a flash but the nachos were unreal. So happy I ordered them and they're much bigger than it looks! We ordered several different street tacos to try. The pork carnitas came out on corn, also very delicious and the breakfast tacos you could get with or without chorizo. These are pictures without but they have an avocado crema which is just fabulous. I love the cute atmosphere. My only complaint is sitting near the window there is a mean draft that comes in and hits you on the back of your legs. It's enough that made it uncomfortable while we were sitting so I would say they could fix that but otherwise go early because they're popular and have limited seating! I'll definitely be back!

My husband and I went to Lone Star Taco Bar for the first time tonight. The service was quick, friendly, and efficient! Our waiter answered all our questions and took great care of me with my food allergies! I felt totally safe!! The food was packed with so much flavor and everything just melts in your mouth! The guacamole was literally the best I've ever had in my life and the tacos were flavorful and fresh!! We wanted to try one of everything so we will definitely be back. The ambiance is welcoming and I loved the decor. 10/10 stars!!

Lone Star is a unique place in Cambridge... a hot-spot for happy hour, approachable and delicious ala carte menus, and a BANGIN' brunch option (if that's your thing). I've been here a number of times and each time I discover something new and interesting. They are constantly tweaking the menu and offering items that used to be "late night only" (such as the Frito/Taco Pie) to the regular menu. It's not fancy/upscale type of place but feels more like an upscale bar or dive that serves up great food, has a fantastic menu of libations, and will not leave you yearning for more or that you need to stop somewhere else for a 2nd meal. If I lived in a closer proximity, this would be one of my regular staples - however, when I'm in the area I can't say anything really bad about Lone Star. The prices per taco are pretty standard for the area, but if you are expecting an enormous serving size ala Chipotle or Anna's... this is not the place for you. They are the smaller taco shell but stuffed with high quality ingredients and toppings. Is it worth the price? Yes... unless you expect the 3# of tex-mex food plated for under $10/plate. However, if you are looking to create a meal that is varied and will satiate you at a reasonable cost this is the place for you!
They have a pretty extensive drinks menu but we decided to stick with ordering food. For starters we got the shrimp ceviche ($11). The shrimp was good quality but the ceviche was mostly tomato and cucumber. I liked how the chips were fried fresh so they were hot and crispy. I tried the beef birria taco ($6.25) and the Baja fried fish taco ($6). The consomme that came with the birria was quite mild-- there wasn't any particular flavor that stood out and it wasn't very salty either. The birria taco had a lot of melted, stringy cheese which I enjoyed! I didn't find the birria meat particularly memorable. The Baja fried fish taco was ok. It came with an aioli and pickled cabbage, both of which had nice flavor, but the fish itself didn't have that much flavor. The breading was also very thick. The aioli was a little too sweet for my liking. My dining partner tried the chorizo ($5) and Veracruz fish ($6) tacos. He was a huge fan of the Veracruz fish taco but thought the chorizo was forgettable. The tacos come with tiny chunks of lime that are a little difficult to squeeze! For the size of the tacos I think the price is very reasonable because you get a pretty big portion of meat. I could see myself coming back to try their drinks but I wouldn't focus my visit on the food.

Having a late lunch after our drive into town for a wedding out of towner party tonite. It is about 4pm. We each got a cocktail a sangria and a Lucha Libre. A tequila drink. I ordered a grilled avocado and Baja fish taco. My wife got pork carnitas. All very good and fresh. I finished with a Vera Cruz fish taco. That had a nice kick to it. Each taco was prepared for us and served right out of the kitchen. The place is great and we have been here before for brunch. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great. A good value for a quick bite and couple of drinks. We will return when in town. Mark & Nancy.

The chicken tostada was good, I liked the different textures and they were generous with the cabbage. My favorite was the corn with an aioli sauce. I enjoyed the charred, sweet, and lime flavours were harmonious. I also liked the rice and beans. I would recommend; the music was great and had a lively ambiance. The staff was attentive. read more

Great late-night taco spot in Cambridge. The food came out pretty fast, which was awesome. I had the fish tacos--they were tasty and just the right size for a snack. We sat at the bar, and the vibe inside was super chill. My boyfriend liked his beer, and the staff was really friendly. Would definitely come back! read more
For Late night eats this is the place you want to go. The restaurant has good seating and even better food. It wasn't busy when we got there and the staff was nice. We were seated and served in about 20 mins. The elote was top notch!! 10/10 recommend it was buttery and delicious. read more

Hungry past 10 PM in Cambridge on a work trip and nothing could satisfy my craving like a vegetarian El Cruncho Supremo, which is a flavorful mix of beans, cheese and sauce on a crunchy tortilla shell wrapped in a soft tortilla. I ordered online and my order was ready by the time I walked over. There was plenty of outdoor seating, which is perfect for a warm summer evening. I hope to go back sometime with friends to try more Items and enjoy the vibe more. read more

I had a delicious takeout meal from here! Checked out some of the most popular tacos and some personal favorite items on the menu. I'd recommend those in the following order: - Baja Fried Fish: the best! - Carnitas Pork: hard to taste bad - Grilled Street Corn: might be too much mayo but very yummy! - Chips with Guaca: not amazing but good enough! - Chicken Quesadilla: quite small... somewhat flavorful - Beef Barbacoa: the ones we got had really dry meat, which is not ideal It's a great meal but I have to say it's a bit pricey for what I expected vs got. All portions are relatively small. We, as two big-stomach eaters (eats more than the average couple?), spent nearly $70 on food alone, and barely got full ... but satisfied the craving for Mexican food for sure! To save you some time on choosing delivery apps (yeah I noticed they're on almost every food delivery apps, as a person who happened to have all of them installed...) - choose any app! It seems to me that the menu item price is THE SAME across all apps, which is not always the case for some restaurant but I like it this way! read more
The doorman is quite possibly the best thing about this place. He was funny and congenial. Very poor service, otherwise- we were seated very quickly, but then our server never came around to take our drink or appetizer order. He wasn't any better during our meal. The tacos were just extremely average. I paired mine with a table Farmhouse Saison by Mystic Brewery. Lone Star has a very interesting looking mixed drink menu, and would be a good place to belly up to the bar and enjoy drinks in a lively atmosphere. Not great for large groups, I had to laugh at the group of eight squeezed together, hip to hip, outside on the patio. Sometimes you just can't invite all of your friends when you go out, y'know? I found this spot while traveling and, since it was walking distance from my hotel, decided to try it out. Place is decently strict on COVID precautions like wearing your masks if talking with staff (although we saw this not happen many times). They don't make you show proof of vaccination prior to entrance. Menus can be found in QR code at table/bar. The place was not busy at all. Only two other people at the bar so we sat there and opted for the Lone Star Happy Meal because why not? A beer, a tequila shot, and a shot of sangria. Beer and tequila were great. The sangria tasted like a sweet Bloody Mary which made me nauseous. We ordered the nachos to start. About 10-15 min later we see our bartender clock out, sit at the bar, and order food. Ok fine nbd there's a new bartender. It takes her about 15 min to come check on us which doesn't make sense bc they weren't busy. We ordered another round of drinks and I asked about our nachos. Since we ordered we saw multiple people, who ordered after us, receive their food. She checks on our order and says it was never entered and do we still want them? Uhm what? Yes I'm hungry! So the original bartender, who is currently eating/drinking at the bar, never put in our order? Ok fine. Stuff happens. But no apology! Not even from the manager who delivered our food. The new bartender did give a quick "sorry about the mix up" while she took away our finished plates. We still had to pay for the nachos, which is absurd considering they took 40 min to make when the place was dead. As a former bartender and server, this is not how I would treat a customer after an employee made a mistake. read more

I absolutely love this place. It's a great casual spot for food/drinks with friends. They have a bunch of drink options to fit any preference. All the tacos I've tried have been delicious. The star of the show for me is the horchata drink and their margaritas are great too. Make sure to get there early because this place fills up fast and there aren't a ton of seats. read more

In my opinion, this is one of the best Mexican spots in Cambridge. We started at the bar but then were moved to a table outside which was perfect. The service is so quick and friendly! The Lone Star Margarita never misses. My friend ordered the sangria and it was delicious. The guacamole was good but the way they served it was kinda skimpy. For $11 I feel like you should get a larger serving. The carnitas taco was flavorful and loaded which I loved. The Baja fish taco was so good and loaded with pickled onion. I genuinely cannot recommend the birria tacos more, they are so damn good I could have ten of these things. The Veracruz, Barbacoa, and chicken tostada were ordered by my friends and the only complaint was that the tostada was a bit smaller than anticipated. If you haven't come here before stop waiting!!! Certainly not the most authentic spot for tacos, but hey, if we only prized authenticity of cuisine we would have never ended up with such wonders of the world as Gobhi Manchurian or General Tso's chicken (tofu for me). Great unassuming vibe with a surprisingly lively interior on this Eastern stretch of Cambridge Street, which hosts numerous hidden gems. Orzata cocktail was probably my highlight of the night. The vegetarian fried queso taco was great, roasted cauliflower one was superb. It had a melange of cumin and tomato salsa that actually reminded me a bit of sambar. Queso and chips was mediocre, and I will probably skip next time. read more
