Chicken fried steak with burned corn
Danyelle A.

I ruined dinner, so out we went. Upon arrival, there were at least 10 people waiting for take-out orders. I thought we had found a true gem. Instead, we were disappointed in the service, food, and wait. Pricing was average for the area and quantity of food. There is lots of parking. COVID restrictions mean the inside has tables/chairs stacked to reduced seating. The staff was friendly enough, but there was nothing special about placing our order at the counter. The staff seemed harried and couldn't care less about the people in front of them. The first disappointment was the wait. We had to wait 25 minutes for 2 meals. We did not see any food coming from the kitchen in the first 15 minutes we were there. No apology for the wait. No explanation. Once we received our food, it was rather bland. The corn was overcooked and dark. The gravy must have been recently watered down as it was really thin. Although tables were empty, no one was cleaning. Several tables had new customers sit without being wiped down. During COVID, this is unacceptable! I love supporting small businesses, but I won't be going back here. It would be fine in a pinch, but there are plenty of better options in the area.

Best onion rings ever and the hamburger was really good too

Lone star grill had the best onions rings in the state. The burgers are very reasonable and the service was great

You can tell there's care put into the build. The atmosphere was fun and lively, making it a great place to hang out and enjoy a meal. The staff stood out as well. They were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure we had a great experience. The onion rings were just okay. They and the chicken tenders felt like the only items that went straight from freezer to fryer, which stood out compared to how fresh everything else tasted. If I had one suggestion to take this place to the next level, it would be to offer a true build-your-own burger option with a full list of ingredients. They were very accommodating when it came to customizing their "designer" burgers, but having full control would make the experience even better. Also, while the burger meat was good, it tasted like it was cooked on a flat top. There is nothing wrong with that, but a flame grilled option with a bit of smoke and char would push these burgers into elite territory. Overall, great burgers, great vibe, and great service, with just a couple of tweaks away from being exceptional.

We ordered Beef (i think is what beef short rib? Ravioli with marinara sauce, garlic bread, calamari (best we have ever had) iced tea and a glass of Rose. This weeknight meal was amazing. The entrees hit on all notes. The calamari is the star with the chili sauce. So soft with Panko crust. Just amazing. Table set up felt like fine dining. Prices were very reasonable. Place was very romantic feeling.

The fried mozzarella was perfect and we loved that it came with pesto in addition to marinara and ranch. We got the caprese too and it disappeared almost as quickly. Pro tip- make sure you keep the pesto off of the mozzarella to have a little extra for the caprese. It doesn't *need* it, but it's good pesto! We each ordered the pecan old fashioned and they were dangerously delicious- not overly sweet like I was worried about. The branded orange peel was a nice, fun touch. We got the lasagna and the ragu. You know the lasagna was good when your man was talking about it two hours later! I was really impressed with the amount of meat in the ragu- and it melted in your mouth. The paperdelle was a smidge over cooked, but I almost don't want to mention that because it was so good. And the portion was huge-SO much food! We sat near the bar/kitchen so we saw all the food coming out and it all looked good. We were stuffed but ordered the tiramisu anyway because it looked so good. And it was. The service is what really set these guys apart. The staff worked really well together and everyone was taking care of each other's tables. The manager (owner?) seemed to know about half the people in there- it was packed- and was still working just as hard as the rest of the staff. We felt incredibly well taken care of and couldn't be happier to find something so good, so close to home. Best advice is to come early because it gets busy!

I absolutely loved my summer seasonal elote breakfast burrito. Next time I will stick to the first watch on camp Bowie which has a more relaxed atmosphere even when people are waiting. I think this is due to less high traffic walkways in the way it was designed.

First Watch is incredibly busy on the weekend, so this step is critical if you don't want to wait for a long time. The menu is varied and there is a good selection to appeal to everyone in your party. I got the traditional breakfast which was plenty of food. While the food was fine, the service fell flat. After taking our order, we didn't see our server until she brought the check. I'm sure she was busy, but a check-in or two would have been nice to avoid having to flag her down from across the room to get refills or jam. The restaurant itself was pretty clean with a nice waiting area outside, but the restrooms needed a little attention. I would visit again, but First Watch wouldn't be my first choice. It just felt too rushed and inhospitable compared to other brunch places in the area.

From the moment I walked through the door, I knew this wasn't going to be ordinary. The space is opulent, sexy, and unmistakably a vibe. Think mid-century modern meets art deco, but done with intention--every detail feels curated, not accidental. Even the bathrooms are stunning, which says a lot about how much thought has gone into the entire experience. And then there's the food and service--both matched that first impression perfectly. Phenomenal across the board. Every dish felt elevated and purposeful, but the standouts for our table were the steak, the crab hush puppies, Brussel sprouts, date cake and the rhubarb dessert. Each one was memorable in its own way and executed flawlessly. What really sets The Mont apart, though, is their ability to deliver at a high level for groups. I brought in our senior leadership team for a dinner where I needed to impress--and they exceeded every expectation. The patio alone is to die for, and the team handles large parties with a level of polish and ease that's rare. A huge shoutout to Orio, the general manager, who made the entire evening seamless. She thought of everything--literally everything--including sending us off with breakfast pastries for the next morning. That level of care and anticipation is what turns a great dinner into an unforgettable experience. From beginning to end, it was perfect. The Mont doesn't just understand dining--they understand how to create a moment. And they absolutely nailed it.
