Chicken fried steak with burned corn
    Danyelle A.

I ruined dinner, so out we went. Upon arrival, there were at least 10 people waiting for take-out orders. I thought we had found a true gem. Instead, we were disappointed in the service, food, and wait. Pricing was average for the area and quantity of food. There is lots of parking. COVID restrictions mean the inside has tables/chairs stacked to reduced seating. The staff was friendly enough, but there was nothing special about placing our order at the counter. The staff seemed harried and couldn't care less about the people in front of them. The first disappointment was the wait. We had to wait 25 minutes for 2 meals. We did not see any food coming from the kitchen in the first 15 minutes we were there. No apology for the wait. No explanation. Once we received our food, it was rather bland. The corn was overcooked and dark. The gravy must have been recently watered down as it was really thin. Although tables were empty, no one was cleaning. Several tables had new customers sit without being wiped down. During COVID, this is unacceptable! I love supporting small businesses, but I won't be going back here. It would be fine in a pinch, but there are plenty of better options in the area.

Best onion rings ever and the hamburger was really good too

Lone star grill had the best onions rings in the state. The burgers are very reasonable and the service was great

Fried catfish sandwich with lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce on a toasted bun with a side of sweet potato fries.

It was Friday after work, and I was looking for a quiet food place with reasonable prices. Lone Star Grill got good reviews and it was just off the I-20 on HWY 377 so I gave it a chance. Fried catfish sandwich with sweet potato fries and an ice-cold root beer. Three strips of fish!! The perfect way to end a busy day and commute with temps of 112*F and tempers to go with it. Not usually a "look at what I had for dinner" picture taker, but I had to text my husband to show what he was getting half of for dinner. Very good service--excellent, courteous and Food served promptly and hot. (Keep in mind this was after the regular dinner hour so next time the service might be slower since it is made up fresh.) Highly recommend. I'm definitely going back.

Price and food was good. It feels old and a bit dirty though. I probably won't go back but the food was good and the staff were friendly.

Every time we go to Fred's we ask ourselves why it's taken so long to come back. The hamburgers are gigantic, juicy & almost cannot fit into your mouth. Delicious!! However, the fried onion rings are the real stand-out-- homemade battered, hot & crispy. I could almost make a meal out of those. One of our party had the chicken-fried-steak & declared it to be the best he's ever had. We had a real sweet server named, Savannah, who gave us excellent service & was pleasant & cheerful throughout. Honestly, I have to warn you about the margaritas--they are very strong & will kick your backside if you drink a whole one. I was glad I had a sober partner to drive me home. We will definitely be back & hope it doesn't take so long to return.

Hostesses were polite and the place is huge with TVs everywhere, not huge but a lot of them. Hubs had the chicken fried steak as recommended by our waitress, he ordered medium. I was craving a burger and ordered the bacon chili cheese burger gluten free. First, absolutely was gluten free, the kitchen is taking precautions. However; despite being asked how I wanted it cooked it came out just like my husband's, cremated. I have no idea what it would've tasted liked because all I got was greasy and crispy charcoal. They do serve mixed drinks, beer and wine, not a lot of choice on the wine though. Ambiance is surprisingly bright in the room we were seated in and definitely family friendly.

My family ordered salads, some pancakes, a club sandwich, and I went bold with the million dollar breakfast sandwich (I too deserve nice things). Everyone else's food came out together... mine did not. Apparently my sandwich decided to take the scenic route. Our waitress didn't seem to notice or care that I was just sitting there without a plate. When I asked the runners about my plate, they said they'd let our server know since it wasn't on their ticket. That's okay, I get it. It happens! We all forget a thing or two. So I waited til I could locate our server to ask her if she entered it. It took our server a solid 15 minutes to make her way back to us, at which point I asked her for the sandwich I'd ordered a while ago. She did not seem moved by my plight and wandered off to, presumably, locate it. Another 10 minutes later, my sandwich arrived like a conquering hero around 25 minutes after everyone else had basically finished eating. Was it good? Yes. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely not, it was just a breakfast sandwich. It would've been great if it had just shown up with everyone else's food like a normal menu item. The restaurant didn't seem busy, so I don't know what happened. Regardless the food was solid. The service could use some tweaking. Probably will be back, I won't let one bad day ruin my experience.

Especially with a bill over $400 for just two people. The Wagyu ribeye was very bland and it was not tender at all. I never use steak sauce when I go out to eat. But I needed it that night. It was also the toughest Wagyu that I ever had. The Shrimp smelled very fishy so we didn't even eat it. The Brussel sprouts were good. I also tried the Lamb Ragu. It was bland as well but adding some salt helped. I commonly fine dine. And this was my worst fine dining experience as far as food thus far.
