This is a pretty typical burger place or American food place. They have burgers, chicken fried steak, and catfish - and then there's some sides and extras and things. Very casual, plenty of country music playing and not a lot of other ambient noise. I ordered a cheeseburger all the way with mustard and jalapeños. I read the reviews. It said they're onion rings were excellent, so I ordered some of those also. The burger and onion rings came out pretty quickly, but the burger had mayonnaise on both sides, lol, and no jalapeños. So I sent the burger back and they fixed it pretty quickly. So they used shredded cheese on the hamburger. I don't think I'm a super fan of that but I'm not gonna knock it either. I will say this: I couldn't eat all the onion rings, and I barely finished my burger. I thought the onion rings were pretty good - - not the best I've ever had but pretty darn good! 1st, I wanted to state that I usually eat here every couple of weeks, either pick up or dine in with my kids. I order water and always get water with the same hostess every time and I always tip Even though you order and pay at the counter. This past experience was by far the most rude and disrespectful experience I have experienced in a restaurant setting. My parents were visiting from out of town and I wanted to take the some were with the kids that had familiar menu. We ordered at the counter like normal. When my mom and I went to get water, she asked me if it tasted weird, so I tried it and it tasted like bleach (as if they cleaned the machine but didn't flush it completely). We both dumped it out and with her getting a kids meal, she got a drink so she switched to 7up. I got tea in my baby water glass. When the hostess brought out food she said it in front of everyone in the restaurant that I got a drink and not water so I had to pay for a drink before I left. I explained to her that the water taste bad and I don't feel comfortable drinking it. She refused to acknowledge the water concerned and just kept repeating herself. Causing a scene over their inability to offer decent drinking water and a 35 cent glass of tea. So, after I ate my meal, I went up to the counter to pay for the 10oz of tea. It was $2.25. I asked her to taste the water herself and that i wasn't trying to get a free tea after spending $70 on the meal. Her response was that she would notify the water authority as she gave me my change. I have never left a dinning experience more embarrassed. My parents were beside themselves. They asked me if this is how people get treated in Texas. Based on her actions and response to the situation, they do not value their customers. Refusing to listen to the concerns of customers and wanting to call them out in the rudest way possible over a 35 cent tea, is a easy way to loose my business, especially when the food is mediocre at best. The only plus was that it was convenient. But after being treated like I stole something in front of my parents and children as well as the rest of the restaurant. I will gladly spend my time and money with a business that values it. read more

Used to be really good years ago so we thought we would try it again. Food was sorta okay but not near as good as it used to be. Would rate it a 6 out of 10. Decor inside is old and showing its age. Best comfort food EVER for the best, most reasonable prices EVER. This place is a gem and has been for decades (even when it used to go by a different name, it was still the same food and same place and stellar staff). You honestly cannot go wrong here. I love their fried zucchini, their hand breaded onion rings, the cayenne chicken dinner or the cayenne chicken sandwich, the chicken salad, the tuna salad (and I usually loathe tuna salad, but this is somehow how to die for), their chicken fried steak, and their sweet potato fries, any mom loves their chicken kabobs but never leaves me even one note to try! Oh, and their homemade honey mustard and their homemade ranch are literally finger-licking good. I wish I could buy them by the bottle to take home, as in THAT GOOD! You also can't go wrong with any burger. I am sure everything else is just as delicious. I just love all the above items so much that I can never expand my horizons as I already have too many mouth-watering choices to choose from each time I go. And- even more impressive-this place is 100% consistent. I have eaten there since my terms and I am now 51. I have never once even been slightly disappointed. And I am actually super picky, though I realize it certainly does not sound like it from the variety of things I like above- lol. Last rave: the portions are huge, and, somehow, miraculously, take out orders from here are every bit as good as eating it there! And I have an 18 minute drive home; yet STILL my food is hot, crispy and delicious. ‍ I honestly don't know how they do it. But I hope they never, ever change. I ruined dinner, so out we went. Upon arrival, there were at least 10 people waiting for take-out orders. I thought we had found a true gem. Instead, we were disappointed in the service, food, and wait. Pricing was average for the area and quantity of food. There is lots of parking. COVID restrictions mean the inside has tables/chairs stacked to reduced seating. The staff was friendly enough, but there was nothing special about placing our order at the counter. The staff seemed harried and couldn't care less about the people in front of them. The first disappointment was the wait. We had to wait 25 minutes for 2 meals. We did not see any food coming from the kitchen in the first 15 minutes we were there. No apology for the wait. No explanation. Once we received our food, it was rather bland. The corn was overcooked and dark. The gravy must have been recently watered down as it was really thin. Although tables were empty, no one was cleaning. Several tables had new customers sit without being wiped down. During COVID, this is unacceptable! I love supporting small businesses, but I won't be going back here. It was Friday after work, and I was looking for a quiet food place with reasonable prices. Lone Star Grill got good reviews and it was just off the I-20 on HWY 377 so I gave it a chance. Fried catfish sandwich with sweet potato fries and an ice-cold root beer. Three strips of fish!! The perfect way to end a busy day and commute with temps of 112*F and tempers to go with it. Not usually a "look at what I had for dinner" picture taker, but I had to text my husband to show what he was getting half of for dinner. Very good service--excellent, courteous and Food served promptly and hot. (Keep in mind this was after the regular dinner hour so next time the service might be slower since it is made up fresh.) My family's been coming to Texas- or Lonestar- Grill since I was a child. The inside now is nothing special- severely outdated and borderline trashed out. HOWEVER- their food is excellent. This had to be the worst place I had ever been. My husband and I went on a Saturday afternoon. the meat was over cooked, the orka was not done, but the grease was too hot and just got the outside and the fries were cold. When we asked for a couple of to go boxes and a bag, my husband was told he asked for too much. the cook was spying on us, so when we didn't us one of the boxes and decided to just take it home, she went back and reported it to the girl who waited on us, who came out and asked for the box back, and reach into our bag to get it. This place is an oasis, tucked away off Benbrook Blvd in Benbrook. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel like family. In fact he might forget you are not family. The next time I come in I have to find out everyone's name that works here, I believe it's a family. The first time I came in about a week ago, I had the chicken fried steak and white gravy with hush puppies and whole kernel corn. It tasted amazing. Tonight, after thinking about this place all day and craving the hush puppies, which are the long skinny ones not the round crunchy ones. I love a little long ones. To me they are more tasty, And I have great memories of the first time 80s in Oklahoma at a restaurant called Der Dutchman. That restaurant serves all you can eat pill and eat shrimp and hush puppies, yes the little long ones. I don't know why, but I love the little long ones. So tonight I came in and ordered the fried shrimp, which comes with two sides, so guess what I ordered. I ordered two hush puppy sides for my sides. OMG! This food taste amazing, the shrimp tasted so fresh, and the portion was excellent, you really get your moneys worth here, I would expect to pay a lot more at other restaurants for a portion that size, and such an awesome taste. I can't wait to come back Again and try more of their dishes. Heck, I might just order for orders of the hush puppies, and eight hush puppies until I pass out. We went for lunch had tuna sandwich & hubby had spicy chicken sandwich plus we split a side of HOT French fries. The tuna was really good even had pieces of apple in it, it did have just a little too much mayo for my liking but it was good and fresh anyway. The chicken was hood just not really spicy. Since I live in Benbrook, I've been dining at this restaurant for years. I have almost exclusively ordered their hamburgers and onion rings (which by the way are delicious), but tonight I decided to go outside of the box and get the chicken fried steak with sides of mashed potatoes and green beans. Let me tell you, LSG did not disappoint! The steak was hefty with a generous slathering of gravy. The golden breading was spot on--not too thick or too thin. And oh so tasty! We were camping over at Lake Benbrook and I found this place looking through Yelp. Instead of going to the usual places, we decided to give this place a try and I'm glad we did. Lone Star Grill is at the end of a small strip mall and doesn't look too visually appealing from the outside, but it's the food that counts. On that part, they seem to have their act together! We noticed right away that the plates that other people had were big and piled high with food. You order at a counter - not my favorite - but not a big deal either. We ordered chicken fried steak, the catfish platter, and a burger with onion rings. When we got our food, it was just as loaded with food as we had seen. Everything was good and I enjoyed the creamed spinach I had ordered. The fried zucchini was good, as were the onion rings, the burger - in fact, everyone liked it a lot! We ended up taking about half the food with us because we weren't close to finishing it. Do yourself a favor and stop here to eat.
