Friend and his family invited me out for a meal, and this is the place that was chosen. Years ago, I ate at the one on Bluebonnet Circle. Figuring it was the same company or owner, I knew I was in store for a treat. It was way better than I ever remember. From the layout of the restaurant to the decor and ambiance, I knew this would be a great experience. The place was crowded, but the noise level wasn't very loud. Great acoustics, I suppose. I had the Bacon Blue Cheese Burger with onion rings. The onion rings tasted like they were battered in buttermilk. Utterly delicious. The server had her hands full with as busy as the restaurant was; however, she was a real pro and provided the best service. I never had to ask for anything. She was on top of it all. Please choose here to eat. You won't regret it!

Me: "Where's the best burger in Fort Worth?" Three different people: "Uh, Fred's Texas Cafe." Me: "Alright, let's do it." And, Fred's did NOT disappoint today!!! Highly recommend reviewing the menu before arrival because WOW it's long. Staff is very friendly, from the hostess who seats you. To the table servers. Meat is well seasoned. Food is served quickly. Few TVs are around for viewing. Nice bar seating available. RECOMMENDATION: Sweet potato fries! Enjoy.

I tried this place with a couple of my coworkers. It is very "cowboy" but it was clean. We always go for burger places and I will say that this place had very good food . The waitress we had, Cass was very nice. I ordered a patty melt with loaded fries. The food came out very fresh and quickly. I would recommend and I would love to go back

I sadly no longer get to Fred's nearly as frequently as I used to now that it's in west FTW as I live up in North Richland Hills. Back in the day my world revolved around Backwoods for fly fishing supplies, Fort Worth Camera for camera gear and Freds... all within blocks of one another. I always found myself close to Fred's around noon. I was not initially impressed with the new store as it was not, well, Fred's if you know what I mean. On Curry street I always sat inside at the bar or by the bar in a booth, never out in the Fort as inside has always been Fred's to me. I guess it often just takes time for change to become comfortable. I'm relatively comfortable now in the new store if sitting at the bar or close to the bar on the patio side. The one major constant that makes me most comfortable in the new store is the presence of the great Brian Naehritz at the bar. And, well, the food ... and, of course, the Cold Ass Beer, LOL. All my old favs are still on the menu and just as good as before and maybe even better. And new, very appealing items have been added to the menu. The kitchen's game here appears to have been notably elevated. The Diablo burger today was spectacular. I cannot recall if this was an option back in the day but for three bucks you can substitute onion rings for fries. The onion rings are world class and just the right proportion to accompany a burger. I'm so happy for the team here that this location is obviously working out so well for them. Long live Fred's!

Dropped in on a weekend for a late lunch, a great decision! Service was excellent! The hosts, waitress (Emmy), & the servers who also brought our food would were all so pleasant & friendly. Fried Green Tomatoes - definite yet, thick tomatoes slices with pimento cheese that took it up a level! HH Burger with loaded fries - the egg was perfectly cooked, burger was juicy, & the loaded fries were plentiful with toppings. Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes - huge portion with a generous amount of gravy. A great crunch to the batter. Place was clean, service an A+, food came out quickly & still tasted delicious. Very fair prices, we'll be back soon!

Finally made it out but not for a burger. We came for a drink. Big variety of beers. We tried their margaritas and they were good and did the job. I felt like it was missing something not sure what it was. As we were setting at the bar we noticed some dirty glasses I'm glad we didn't get any of those! Their patio is nice and open. TVs all around plus they have a projector tv! A great place to watch any kind of game.

As I sit here at the bar of Fred's Texas Cafe in Fort Worth, Texas, awaiting my Apple crisp a la mode, I realize I haven't left a review in quite sometime. Perhaps uninspired...one can safely assume that if I don't leave a review, the meal was, at most, somewhat above average or absolutely awful. I won't waste any time writing about anything less than magical...and choke my chicken, I just had a top 5 all time burger. I like my burgers pink in the middle (death to the smashburger sandwich! Yeah, it's not a burger.) and I like mine with a good amount of heat to them. More so than your standard jalapeno burger (only bc jalapeños now taste like bell peppers, wtf???)....well then partner, RUN and get you a Serrano Burger at Fred's. Bread is 37% of the burger. I freaking hate it when burger joints forget this and the breads sucks....not so at Uncle Fred's. REALLY good quality bread. I call him uncle now bc this place has entered my, "The Byrnes Family Circle of trust"...that's how good this burger is. I'm from Houston...but if I'm ever at least an hour away, I'm swingin' by Fred's.

First time to visit and had a wonderful experience! The restaurant has indoor, patio, and bar seating. We decided to sit on their patio since it was such a beautiful day. All staff was wonderful and attentive! I had a small order of the lamb chili with a Bloody Mary. The lamb was tender and the chili had a nice spice to it! I should have ordered the larger size. Bloody Mary was very good as well and had the right amount of spice!

Sat at a high top in the bar area, bartender serving us was great, very hospitable and enjoyed talking with him. Fred's feels like your neighbor spot, I do miss the nostalgia of the W 7th location, but they have recaptured it here, everyone is super friendly and they have a great patio. The food, you have to get the steak fingers! I've never had better and the portion is more than enough for 2. Burgers are always good, cheese fries were a heaping portion, classic BLT was well done, and schooners of beer have the best frosty slushee chill when delivered! Fred's is a family friendly favorite!

Third time here for dinner and the food was spot on! They have a wide range of food choices from a very large chicken fried steak to any type of burger you can imagine. Drink choices for everyone in the family. Waitstaff was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. Very lively upbeat energetic atmosphere for everyone age group in the family. You will not be disappointed!

The Whistle Stop Burger here ranks in the top five of best burgers I've ever had. Authentic and delicious, this Southern burger with pimento cheese and a fried green tomato is unique and mouthwatering. The Texas Blond beer on tap is cold and refreshing and light. My hubby and I stopped in here at 9:45 at night after a two-hour sunset trail horseback ride over rugged terrain that ran long. I was pretty beat up and tired and needed some meat. Fred's did not disappoint. The atmosphere is friendly, the food is well cooked and delicious, the beer is cold, the glasses are chilled, and the music is country. Just the way I like it.

Dr Pepper bacon burger and fries with queso. Yum yum!

For some good comfort food with a twist give Fred's a try. Fred's service was good and food was very flavorful. It's a pretty lowkey environment, with some fun touches with the game room and patio music area. We ll be back to try out their drink specials and drafts.

Fantastic choice! The menu is very "urban hipster" vibes. Plenty of burgers, lots of fun appetizers, charcuterie, one of my friends has some dietary restrictions and they were easily able to accommodate her needs which made us all very happy. This spot has a great bar in the front, and a smaller bar in the rear of the place. Outdoor seating as well as covered seating. Plenty of shade as well which will serve their patrons nicely in the coming Texas summer months. This is also a dog friendly dining spot, plenty of people were there with some amazing canine companions (always ask before you pet a strangers pup, it's just polite and courteous. Almost no one says No!). Assuming you don't have a dog allergy, this will hopefully be a feature. There is a relatively new apartment complex across the street and I get the feeling a lot of the people stopping in were regulars who bring in their dogs during walkies and grab a bite before heading back home, but that is just pure conjecture on my part. Either way, it was a fun inviting atmosphere. The music was nice, not too loud for my old man ears to enjoy but still present enough to be part of the evening without being intrusive. Staff was very nice, helpful, friendly, etc. Everything one would expect from a fine Texas eatery. Lots of spicier options on the menu if you're into that, but by no means anything overpowering. My guess is the owner has stock in some jalapeno growers farm somewhere and the food is all the better for it! If you're in the area already or if you're thinking of branching out for a nice new burger spot, this place is great and I will be returning. I live nearby so it'll likely become part of the regular rotation for us in the coming months. We are spoiled for choice in this area when it comes to good burgers being close to Grumps, close to Kincaid's, and close to Tommy's up on Camp Bowie. But this place competes on good burgers and if you're looking for a fun hangout atmosphere, you'd be hard pressed to find better. Easily recommended! Give them a try, I don't think you'll regret it! Cheers!

The ambiance is relaxed, making it a nice place to unwind. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, so plan for that if you're visiting during a busy time. Service was on the slower side, and unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the deluxe chicken sandwich--it was overcooked and didn't live up to expectations. Overall, the wine selection and charcuterie concept are highlights, but the food and service could use some improvement.

The bar menu had some pretty interesting original selections, none of which I could partake in, since I was working. A giddy lil server took my order of a cheese burger with extra cheese and asked if I wanted a side salad. When I agreed to replace it for the fries and chose blu cheese as my salad dressing, she asked if I wanted blu cheese crumbles. Again, I agreed to that too. In no time at all I got my burger and salad, which was fresh shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese with a side of blu cheese dressing and a side of blu cheese crumbles. I'd told her too late that my burger should be cooked medium, but it was fine. It arrive cooked slightly over medium. It wasn't Hopdaddys and definitely not Houston's, but pretty good. Here's why Chubbby's got fewer stars. When the bill arrived, I was noticed I was up charged for blue cheese crumbles and the side salad. I mentioned it to her when she came to pick up the payment and asked how my food was. Me: "While you made great suggestions, you failed to tell me there was an additional charge for the salad and crumbles" Her: "he he he, yeah" Then later I had a stomach ache all night long.

They were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure we had a great experience. The onion rings were just okay. They and the chicken tenders felt like the only items that went straight from freezer to fryer, which stood out compared to how fresh everything else tasted. If I had one suggestion to take this place to the next level, it would be to offer a true build-your-own burger option with a full list of ingredients. They were very accommodating when it came to customizing their "designer" burgers, but having full control would make the experience even better. Also, while the burger meat was good, it tasted like it was cooked on a flat top. There is nothing wrong with that, but a flame grilled option with a bit of smoke and char would push these burgers into elite territory. Overall, great burgers, great vibe, and great service, with just a couple of tweaks away from being exceptional.
