Ladies and Gentlemen, y'all have arrived.
Let's call the decor Stetson 1,000 X Diamante chic along with a sidekick of Gingham avec plunging decolletage to the Turquoise Belt. This place exudes what makes Texas so American. Ain't no rich like Texas rich all dinin' under two stories of drippin' wealth. It's like Gene Autry bought the Will Rogers Ranch and Dale Evans did the interior decoratin'.
Thankfully, you don't have to compete with a loop a Brooks and Dunn at concert volume. The Dining Room is definitley conducive to closing that oil and gas lease deal, takin' a knee and proposing or at least makin' a proposition.
Just look at who's in the booth yonder. Angela and Ainsley Norris from Landman along with a bevy of beauties that Father Time hadn't got around to yet.
The Staff: An army of Bussers, Runners, and Servers plus several roaming Somms all roundin' up your vittles from a bustling kitchen crankin' out creative dishes worthy of Oil Tycoons and Cattle Ranchers with acreage large enough to be the 51st State.
Hudson ran his section like a polite trail boss if there is such a thing. That young man tended to his guests every whim along with making suggestions as needed with confidence and sincerity. He wanted all his patrons to truly enjoy the entire dining experience. He accomplished that with humor and a handle on everything the Kitchen presented on the classy menu.
The Bar: First and foremost it's the place to be seen and obscene. It's where the Millionaires wait patiently for the Billionaires to sip the last of their cocktails and sashay to the richly appointed Dining Room where every thing is ready. The Horse Hair bound Menu Book complete with Bull Horns Brand, Silver Saddle Napkin holders holding Napkins with button holes to protect that Robert Graham shirt.
Of course there are well made Classics, but ask for a special cocktail not listed on the Signature Cocktail Page and you'll get exactly what you asked for. Isn't that how life should be?
The Wine List is as deep as Lake Travis.
My Knotty Mane had Novel Cold Brew, Licor 43, and Expressed Orange. It was vibrant and serious. So, after that I asked for a Perfect Pear served in a perfect pear shaped glass. This had Bowie House Private Barrel Balcones Texas Rum, Spiced Pear Liqueur, Lemon-Lime Soda, Lemon Juice, Cinnamon, Turbinado Sugar on the rim and the sturdy straw. Now, don't that sound like somethin' y'all gonna like? Well, it was terrific. Apparently, it wasn't the Apple on the tree in the Garden of Eden, it was the Pear on the cocktail napkin in front of you here that's become a legend.
The Food: Italian/French Steakhouse.
The first order of business was to order a Crab Cake Louie to ride shotgun with the cocktails. The Crab Cake, as big as half a brick, was a natural born killer with absolutely no filler.
Chunks of juicy briny Crab breaded in seasoned crumbs and served with a puddle of Aioli garnished with Oak Leaf Lettuce, Asparagus Coins and Halved Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes. This is what a seafood lover loves to dream about.
A Fancy Caesar followed right behind. The Salad had Seasonal Bitter Greens chopped to bite size and laced generously with Toasted Sesame Dressing and a Black Sesame Rice Cracker instead of soggy Croutons. Yep, it was damn fancy and delicious.
Time for Chorizo Corn Fritters. Why? Never seen it before so I had to have one or three. Glad I did. There were pretty as a photo shopped Graduation Pic.
They came with Spicy Avocado Creme, Smoked Paprika Aioli, and Jalapeno Coins for a kick and some clogged arteries. Hey, it was so good it's was worth a stent or two.
Finally, the Halibut Fish Fry came with Nori Hushpuppies, Sweet/Spicy Cucumber Coins, and Kimchee Tartar Sauce. They should offer this by the bucket. The Fish was delicate with just enough time in the sautee pan to remain juicy, flakey and translucent. It was magic.
My dinner eclipsed any thoughts about Dessert, so I'll just have to spur the pony and return quick as I can.
