Tried this brunch place out for the first time, and it was really good! I would come back to try other things on the menu. My group got there at 10AM on a Sunday, and there was no line/wait. I did see a line start to form outside the door around 10:40 AM. Parking was easy to find at this time. The store is small and cute with lots of tropical vibes. Food was overall good! We ordered four dishes to share between three people: the silog breakfast bowl with tocino, poutine with longanisa, iloko moco, and Thai tea french toast. Portion size was good. We had some leftovers, which were enough for me to eat as my dinner later that day. My favorite was the poutine; it was so crispy and went well with the egg and longanisa! The only problem was that the tater tots got soggy after about 10 minutes so they were not as good afterward. The iloko moco and breakfast bowl were also good. For meats, i liked both the longanisa and tocino. The meats were flavorful and not too salty. I was not a fan of the Thai tea french toast because it was way too sweet for me. The Thai tea flavor was very strong. That being said, my brother liked it. He actually asked for additional maple syrup to pour on top of the French toast because he wanted it EXTRA sweet. First time here. Cute and clean place, nicely decorated with a mural of Lola. Our server was friendly and attentive. Parking can be difficult as there are so many eateries in the same plaza. Located outside next to Haven City. Our food was so tasty and flavorful. My breakfast bowl with the crispy pork belly was so filling. The fat on the pork belly melted in my mouth. It was crisp just right not charred. Our server suggested Maggi on the garlic rice and he was right, it was delish! The salmon sisig was tender and had the right amount of seasoning. First off, thank you to the workers for still letting us dine in even though we were cutting it very close time-wise . We ordered a ton of food, and everything was delicious! For drinks, I got the ube cold brew while my friend got the buko pandan cold brew. Totally biased, but I loved the ube one more -- and ironically, she did too . That's not to say the buko pandan wasn't good; the ube was just richer and creamier while the buko pandan had a more subtle flavor. I ordered the Chilaquiles Filipinas with longanisa and it was absolutely worth having longanisa burps for the rest of the day (iykyk). My friends got the silog breakfast bowl with longanisa and the two egg breakfast with lechon kawali. The kawali was super crunchy without being overly fatty, and shoutout to our server for bringing us extra mang tomas LOL. Now for the real star of the show: the ube pancakes. I still think about them. So fluffy, decadent, and delicious. HIGHLY recommend ordering them, especially with a savory dish to balance everything out. We discovered and came in today by accident and as Bob Ross would say, "It's a happy accident" The inside is beautiful and gives you all the island vibes, including the music. I arrived at Lolas (West Covina) on Thursday (around 10:27AM). Parking is surprisingly easy because it's early; however, the lot is shared with the popular Haven City Market which is notorious for competitive, busy parking. Staff is exceedingly friendly, smiley, and personable. Staff regularly walked from table-to-table to chat and connect with customers. If you peak at my attached "interior photo," Staff sneakily snuck a happy pose. Staff is also efficient; I was helped immediately. The food took five minutes and 29 seconds!! EXTREMELY fast. As mentioned, I enjoyed the Silog Breakfast Bowl w/ Longanisa ($17). The food felt modernized for a more health conscious consumer; it lacked the saltiness typically associated with traditional Filipino food. Curiously, the Longanisa lacked the familiar "SNAP" when bitten into; rather, it offered a very soft, tender body usually found at a BBQ restaurant. These sausages were different but pleasant; they're sweet, plump, and gentle. Its rice is also a little dry, but it successfully carried the loving flavor of fresh garlic. Still, the cooked sunny side egg is the meal's showstopper, perfectly prepared and seductive. All in all, this meal arrived with a very picturesque and attractive appearance. It's a gorgeous and tasty dish. Concerning ambiance, Lolas (West Covina) is sleek and clean. The air felt fresh and well-ventilated. What an amazing place to eat filipino cuisine! The staff is super kind and recommended their salmon sigsig,which is not on the menu and their crispy pork. We also ordered the thai tea french toast. Had a girls day out with my sis in law with her mom and my mom. We came here for lunch and the parking is horrible. You are fighting for a spot with people going to the food hall so be prepared. We got this order to go. We ordered a Silog Breakfast Bowl with Chicken and my bf got the Jeepney Breakfast burrtio. The breakfast bowl was pretty nice, it taste very home made, but the flavors were all pretty interesting since I never had filipino breakfast before! Chicken is more on the sour side, but that's because of the flavoring. Garlic rice was really nice! The tomatoes were also kinda sour, but didn't really mind it. My bf had the breakfast burrito, which he said the first few bites were pretty plain. It does taste better when you have a bite with the sauce that's inside, which I thought was pretty good! My critique on it though, is that everything inside the burrito was quite chunky, so if it was cut up more, I would have personally liked it more. She's obsessed with longanisa, so I already knew that had to be part of the order. First impressions: service was super friendly, the place is small but really cute, clean, and welcoming. Parking is easy since it's in the plaza at Haven City--huge plus. I decided to try their milkfish because I kept seeing posts about it and got excited. Unfortunately... it wasn't what I expected. The texture was nice and fluffy, but it was so underseasoned that no amount of sauce could save it (unless that's how it's traditionally meant to be?). It tasted really bland, and even the tomato and cucumber salad on the side had no flavor. Sadly, my dish was a letdown--6/10 for me. My bestie's longanisa dish was better. We were greeted as we walked in by the entire staff. The restaurant is a bit small and they are only open for breakfast and brunch from 8:30-2PM. To note, you can hold a big group dinner/party after hours if you request online for the kamayan dinner. I ordered the Silog Breakfast Bowl with Birria. It comes with garlic rice, tomato salad and a sunny side up egg. For my drink, I ordered the Calamansi Hibiscus Agua Fresca. I loved the presentation! The color contrast really made the plate pop. The flavor was all there with the birria. However, it was a bit dry. Normally, a side of consommé is served or offered with birria, but here I didn't see the option. For me, I would have liked to have it with this dish. I finished half of my plate and took the rest home. The drink was the right balance of refreshing and not too sweet. The drink was not too sweet. Visited this place twice and it's consistent in service, warmth, and taste. Henry took care of us our first visit and Dom this time around. Staff are so kind and welcoming from start to finish, and slip in small talk inbetween meals without seeming too forced. Ambiance is very cozy and nostalgic with pictures of maybe the family that started the business and pieces of Filipino culture. The vibe overall is comforting. Food is PHENOMENAL. A friend wanted to try this place out. I'd been to the Anaheim location for a huge birthday before where we had the kamayan family meal - one served on banana leaves with different meats and rice. It wasn't overly filling where I felt bloated and full, and it was just the right amount since my friend and I split the lumpia. The interiors are cute - the mural of a lola with her apo was nostalgic. The food came quickly. My son loved his Nutella Abuelita French Toast - it wasn't too sweet. He also snarfed down their chicharon, which was freshly cooked and sizzled when dipped in their vinegar. The adobo omelet needs improvement. I didn't like the sauce, and I felt the flavors didn't marry the way they were supposed to. However it was a good idea in need of better execution. Loved the visual of it. The bangus sisig was ok - there was more mayo and egg than there was bangus. What also bothered me was that they gave us this serving of garlic rice in a tiny plate whose diameter was a mere 5 or 6 inches. It felt cramped having to eat the sisig in that plate - and I didn't want to have to ask for a bigger plate because I was already hungry. I know they are sorting themselves out because it's their soft opening so I'm sure they'll get a better rhythm a few months from now. We loved the servers and the concept. Never had Filipino brunch. So let's see if they're pretty good eh or ew. The people are super chill and I got their drink flight, pancake kamayan flight with their avocado, ube fruity pebbles, and guava flaves, and brunch kamayan to try. The drink flight came with a citrusy hibiscus calamarsi, average mango and apple juice, and cinnamony spiced ube horchata. All the pancakes had crisp edges and were super fluffy and buttery and topped with flavored yummy sauces. The avocado one had all those earthy and creamy notes, the guava one had light fruity tropical guava flaves, but my fave was definitely the ube fruity pebbles one which was amazingly nutty, vanillay, not too sweet, and perfectly complemented by the crispity crunchy fruity pebbles on top. The brunch kamayan came with Garlic Rice, sweet sticky Tocino pork, savory Chicken Adobo, sweet fatty Longanisa sausage, tangy vinegary Beef Tapa, crispity crunchy savory Lumpia, super juicy fresh crisp Tomato Salad, and perfectly cooked Sunny-Side-Up Eggs. I wanted to like this place. I love a good Filipino food joint, and especially one that focuses on breakfast fare. And to be fair, the food was good--great even. My Tosilog Bowl was tasty, filling, and left me wanting for more--even if it came to the table a bit cold. I would definitely order that plate of joy again. Even at $17. The ambience was also super inviting and on par with a place that wants you to feel welcome. Spaced out, good music playing, nice lighting that's more subdued and not harsh--it's a great environment to conduct eating and gathering related functions. The problem is the service. It was some of the least attentive and helpful I've encountered. One of the simplest things I want a server to do at breakfast is notice when I need a refill of coffee or another drink, or notice when I'm having a problem or request. I spent so many minutes here trying to flag down a coffee refill that it really disrupted my good feelings about trying a place with buzz that was new to me. And even when I was able to get my request in, it still took them minutes to get me coffee because they hadn't bothered to start a new pot or pots after it had run out. That's like restaurant breakfast service, ABB, always be brewing. Coupled with that, I just saw the same two members of staff standing idly by when I was trying to grab their attention. This doesn't seem to be the place for customer service. Which is a shame, like I said. I so wanted to love this place because the food is just so appealing. That's one of the best Tocino dishes I've had even not super piping hot from the kitchen. But all the aggravation and frustration trying to be heard and get my coffee filled left me tired. There is artwork of a Lola (grandma) and her apo (grandchild) on one end a welcome sign with common Filipino phases and translations on the other. The table settings have your well known Filipino condiments such as vinegar, banana ketchup, and Maggi seasoning! The menu is via a QR code and very extensive. I'll attach some screen shots of the menu. Many brunch options such as appetizers, breakfast bowls, pancakes and unique coffees and cold brew drinks to name a few. I went with the Lumpiang Shanghai its 8 pieces and priced at $10. I also ordered one of the Silog Breakfast Bowls (+15) with Tocino (+2). The staff was kind and hospitable the entire time. You feel welcomed the moment you step in. The food came out quickly and the presentation of each dish was great. It felt like eating at home. The lumpia was crispy, crunchy and savory! Then the Tocino bowl came out. SHEEESH!! Their presentation was extraordinary. Perfectly cooked egg on top of the garlic rice and the tocino flavor was on point. Everything that you remember as a kid eating breakfast at home. The bowl was a solid option for me and one I'd recommend to others to try. Tried Lola's, the new Filipino brunch spot right next to Haven City Market (it's not inside the food court -- it's to the left but in the same plaza). The place is clean, spacious, and decorated with really cool Filipino art that gives it such a fun vibe. Service was quick and pleasant. I tried the breakfast bowl with longanisa -- good but pricey! The beef tapa was flavorless... I want to back to try their Ube pancakes and Milo cold brew. If you're in the area, check them out. We had our Sunday brunch here and it was fantastic. We've dined at Lolas by MFK in Anaheim so it's exciting that we have one closer to us. They are still at their soft opening and that's reflected on their menus as well. Upon arrival we got on the waitlist thru a qr code. It was busy yet and we waited about 20 min or so. Friendly staff. I came to Lola's by MFK in West Covina for brunch with a friend, and it was such a great experience from start to finish. The vibe is casual, chill, and family friendly with a cozy modern atmosphere that feels really inviting. We shared the Pancake Flight and got the Sweet Avocado, Ube, and Manila Mango pancakes. We were both shocked at how big the portions were. We were expecting mini "flight" pancakes, but these were full size (and tbh worth it). I ordered the Jeepney Breakfast Burrito with Longanisa, and my friend got the Bang-silog. Everything was flavorful and perfectly cooked. For drinks, we both went with cold brews. She had the Ube, and I tried the Buko Pandan, which was so good. I'm already planning to get it again next time. Service was amazing. Our server was super friendly, attentive, and made us feel comfortable without ever rushing us. I also noticed how kind the staff were to everyone who came in, it really adds to the warm, welcoming feel of the place. The only thing I'd warn about is parking. The lot is pretty small and it shares space with Haven City, so it can get hectic. Definitely plan ahead or be ready to circle around a bit. I've already told my husband we're coming back soon. Everything was great here. Came on weekday for brunch. For 5 very hungry girls we came out very full which was surprising because the portions seemed smaller this time. The moco loco, bangus, mango pancake and ube cinnamon rolls were so delicious. I kinda wish they had Kona coffee but the regular was fine. They also have a good list of cold drink options as well. I called past 10 am to place a to go order but nobody answered. Drove to place an order in the resto, the lady said she's alone and she acted so slow. I went back to my car and waited for my order. It was ready but she prioritized getting orders fr table instead of handling to me my order. The food was cold. The egg was overcooked. The tocino was so hard to chew. The hit Filipino Brunch restaurant Lola's by MFK originating in Anaheim has finally hit West Covina, in the recently poppin' Haven City plaza nonetheless. It is currently their soft opening and they have been open for a little over 3 weeks. My party of 6 arrived on a Sunday @ 11 AM and they were at full capacity, but luckily we only had to wait about 3 mins for them to prep a table for us. Service was great, and the staff were friendly. Dom particularly was enthusiastic and loved the vibe he brought to the table. And onto the food, we were disappointed the Bangus Sisig was sold out for the day but then we would not have ordered the Birria Chilaquiles! Great plate to share with the table and the beef was so so tender, it was clear that it had been slow cooked for a minute. Definitely the fav dish of the day for me and a few others! We also did the Kamayan with the usual spread of Filipino breakfast meats (tocino, tapa, longanisa, + chicken adobo and a few lumpia), some fried eggs and tomato over a bunch of rice. And of course you gotta drown it in vinegar. If you're eating as a party of 2 I think this would fill you up on top of maybe one shareable appetizer if you're reaal hungry. Not mind blowing, but super comforting - tocino was my fav. Pancake flight was huge! 3 flavors to choose from - we did Ube Fruity Pebbles, Ube Oreo, and Manila Mango. Mango was hands down every one's favorite and highlighted the natural super sweet Philippine mango flavor well. Adobo Rice Omelet (not pictured) was great for a few bites, but the sauce was extremely rich for us so I'd maybe suggest sharing the dish unless you're really into that. Thai Tea French Toast was tasty, but we could not taste too much of the Thai tea (more of an aftertaste), but it could be the super rich Ube we had from the pancakes right before haha Ube Horchata of course was also a banger highly recommended. Love that there's a closer location to the SGV. Great food and great service. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, their loco moco is delicious. The gravy is perfect and the patty is perfectly cooked and juicy. Lola's Modern Kitchen -- Brunch with Flavor & Vibes Jackie and I pulled up to Lola's for brunch and okayyyy... it was already buzzing even though we went early. You could feel the energy right when we walked in. Plants everywhere, modern but still cozy. It's giving cool tita house but elevated. Our waitress was on point -- greeted us, sat us down, wiped the table. Smooth start. Menu is QR code style, super easy, no waiting around flipping pages. Jackie went with the garlic fried rice + longanisa with cherry tomatoes and sliced red onions. That plate was hitting. Sweet, savory, garlicky -- 9/10 easy. I ordered the Iloko Moco (country fried steak smothered in adobo gravy over garlic rice) and added a side of tapsilog because why not go big? Man... 10/10. That adobo gravy was different different. Comfort food but leveled up. We had to tap into the pancakes too -- avocado and ube. Both solid 8/10. Almond and coconut flakes on top, saucy but not overly sweet. Soft, fluffy, photogenic -- brunch approved. Drinks? No misses. Jackie's ube coffee -- fire. My calamansi juice and ube horchata -- refreshing, smooth, not overly sugary. 10/10 across the board.
