I discovered Holy Mo's Kitchen while I was in the area. I have not seen the restaurant before. So, I decided to go and try it. It is a Hawaiian fusion restaurant. Their menu includes; chicken katsu, bbq mix, kalua pork, fish and chips, spam Musubi, poke Nachos, butter mochi, pumpkin crunch and more. The owner was very welcoming and inviting. The place is a grab and go shop. I ordered Poke Nachos and Spam Musubi For dessert, I got Butter Mochi and Pumpkin crunch. OMG! The poke Nachos very flavorful, fresh, savory, generous portion of salmon poke complimented with delicious sauce. It's a must try! The spam musubi was perfect too. Now, the pumpkin crunch was creamy and rich, just phenomenal! The butter mochi was excellent! Holy Mo's is really a hidden gem in West Covina. I am craving their food since I tried it. Yes! The reviews on here are interesting... Got a BBQ plate. No flavor, no nothing. Maybe a little salt and pepper could've got things going but they might have forgot the salt. Holy Mo's Kitchen was a great experience yesterday. Mo is absolutely wonderful. He not only has that classic pidgin talk and Hawaiian/Islander tone and cadence to his voice but he just ooooooozes ALOHA. I FREAKING LOVE IT!!! My family and I came here after bowling on a Sunday afternoon. I only wanted, a musubi with egg. I can't quite remember what rest of my family ate, but I know for sure we were greeted so warmly by the most friendly guy you could ever imagine. We talked all kinds of food and restaurants and about family obligations and just family. It was so refreshing. It was a lot of fun. Everything is made to order. Nothing is sitting around in a warmer. That's another thing that makes this place so appealing I appreciate freshly cooked and freshly prepared food. The restaurant is very small and very casual. People do a lot of takeout here. There seemed to be a lot of repeat customers, especially those who come from across the street to grab lunch here during the week. You should definitely stop by if ever you are in the area. I need a quick bite. Try their mochi cake. That was really good. Braddah Mo, I hope you can find that shaved ice machine we were talking about before summer hits and it gets really hot. If you do, let me know. My husband moved here from Kauai 12 years ago and since then it's been our mission to find a place that serves the Hawaiian flavors he misses. This is it. We've been everywhere and tried all kinds of Kalua pig and loco moco, but this was finally what he was looking for. Home. Simple, good flavors without all the fancy "fusion" that most mainland restaurants try to bring. This blew mine and my husband's favorite mainland places out of the water. Sooo we went on food search, and once again... thanks to yelp for showing me Holy Mo's because HOLY MOLY... Super bomb service, totally get why people said, you come there and you feel like family! I almost dont want to say come try this spot ASAP because the seating is very limited. I think I counted counter space for 4 only. And outside on the front patio a table 4 four. Definitely wish for more indoor seating. The food menu is phenomenal and I can't wait to try the loco moco, and their spam musubi!! I got the garlic shrimp plate, that came with rice and mac salad and some yummy garlic stir fried veggies. Not quite the island style Giovanni garlic shrimps but they were still delicious !!! And that little side mac salad was a star!! He got the Hawaiian breakfast plate and said the bacon was bomb. And I personally love Portuguese sausage!!! We had many spice/sauce condiment options which included soy sauce Sriracha and chili water. This spot is intimate, and better than those "Hawaiian chain locations" looking forward to trying their Katsu chicken too! Wow! What a hidden gem of a restaurant. I am sooooo glad my family and I had a chance to visit this restaurant after reading so many positive Yelp reviews. Upon entering the small but cozy restaurant, we were immediately welcomed by the owner, Mo, and his business partner (I am so sorry, but I don't get her name ). They were both extremely friendly and welcoming, and it truly felt as though they were happy to have us visiting the restaurant. Top-notch service from start to finish, THANK YOU! We ordered the BBQ mix, Chicken Katsu, Fish & chips, butter mochi, and pumpkin crunch. I can honestly say that we were FLOORED!! The food was DELICIOUS!! Each item was cooked to perfection! Perfectly seasoned, portions were huge, and did I mention that everything was delicious?? My fish and chips w/no salt or sauce were huge, sooooo tasty, fresh, and left me FULL!! The BBQ was second to none as it was DELICIOUS!! The chicken Katsu was crunchy and full of flavor. I am a huge fan of anything dessert. The pumpkin crunch with whipped cream was truly one of the best and most creative desserts I have ever tried. This dessert would win first place if it were displayed and shared at the Pomona Fair in the food category. Wow!! It is 640 am now, and I am craving it all over again. Was the only one to arrive to the store, albeit there was a 3 person phone order before us. Told it would be 20 minutes. Didn't get my food until 45 minutes. Was told they ran out of cooked rice even though it's mid dinner hour and we are the only people. Then the katsu came out dry, brown and burnt. Usually the mark of old, dirty oil. Came here for the authenticity. I'm not the biggest hawaiian bbq lover but this is one of the few joints thats got a real hawaiian dude operating it. His name is Mo and we enjoyed meeting him and dining in. The space inside is small but there are patio seating if it's not too hot. You can also walk the food across to the Edwards theatre courtyard. The prices and portions are decent. I had the spam musubi which was delicious. Butter mochi was stocked out so can't speak on that. The mac salad wasn't anything special but gotta eat those greens. The meat was fresh and good cuts. The chicken is definitely love or hate but I really liked the short ribs and beef. Yum. Overall great experience. And the owners quite nice. Holy COW. I was craving for some Hawaiian food and they did NOT miss. We had the poke nachos, loco moco and the buttered mochi. Poke nachos was packed with tuna poke -- some places be skimping, but they did not skimp at all. The loco moco had its own unique flavor, I'm not sure what it was but it added a little sweet-tangy flavor and it was really good. The butter mochi had a light salt top and I did not think I'd love the hint of salt, but now I don't think I can eat butter mochi the same without it. My boyfriend said the owner was really cool, kind and grateful we came by for dinner. It felt more homey, rather than experiencing a new restaurant for the first time. Overall a solid meal. I ordered the BBQ mix plate (2 items for $18.99), which came with 2 scoops of rice and 1 mac salad. The mac salad was actually really good -- not too heavy on the mayo, which I appreciated. The portions were decent, and the meats were flavorful, though a bit on the greasy side. I'm usually not big on rice, but for this plate, I actually wish there was even more of it to help balance things out and soak up some of that grease. One downside was the card transaction fee -- $1.50 (around 7%) just to pay with a card feels pretty excessive. That said, the food itself was enjoyable, and I'd still come back -- just maybe with cash next time. read more

However there is seating outside and minimal seating inside (counter with stools). I ordered the butter mochi and the BBQ mix plate. The mochi was delicious. Buttery, as expected. As for the bbq mix plate, very disappointed. My meat was not cooked all the way. The parts that I did eat were salty. The macaroons salad was good though. Came 20 minutes before they closed and Mo welcomed me in! I ordered the chicken katsu plate, 2 spam musubis, and the butter mochi. I have to say this was the best chicken katsu I've ever had! I'm always weary of getting katsu because it's usually all breading, dry with no flavor. The chicken katsu was perfection!!! Crispy and the chicken was SO juicy. The sauce paired with it so well, and they don't skimp on the meat at all. The macaroni salad was delicious too. The spam musubis were hot and not too salty! The ratio of spam to rice was perfect. It's a new location in the semi-connected plazas by the Edward's movie theater. Located next to Bun Street and other local eateries. There's bar seating (fits 3) facing the parking lot and one cafe style 2 seater outside. Everything was decorated tastefully. They played complementary music at a safe volume. Service: Everyone from the owner, to the cashier, and kitchen staff were welcoming! No attitude or annoyed glances when I took too long looking at the menu. They are now offering a new breakfast menu (ube pancakes or a breakfast plate of bacon, eggs, Portuguese sausages, etc)! Food: We already ate breakfast so I ordered dessert. Shaved ice for the youngster and butter mochi for myself. The youngster rated the shaved ice 5/5. They usually take about 1-1.5 hours to eat anything but they polished it off in about half an hour! Even drank the watered down syrup in the end. I wasn't feeling well so I didn't sample it. The butter mochi is a Hawaiian staple. I normally bake it so deep fried version was a treat. If I had to guess they cubed a 4x6 block. Since it was cubed all surfaces had a chance to develop into this wonderfully crisp sweet cube. Would order again. Plan on coming back for lunch read more

Was super excited to try this place and ordered a little bit of everything but was sadly disappointed. The bbq mix plate look nothing like the pictures on the menu. The ribs were very chewy and lacked flavor and also to mention was a sad grey color, which did not seem appetizing. The chicken was okay oddly enough had a strong lemon taste which tasted overly seasoned and to say on theme the Mac salad was okay and could have used some seasoning but wasn't as terrible as the meat. I ordered some desserts for thanksgiving and they were bomb! The coconut cake was delicious, not too sweet and not too coconutty, it was the perfect balance. The fudge I got was a peppermint, very delicious and not overpowering. I also got the pumpkin crunch cake which was mouthwatering and again, just a perfect balance. Mo is so awesome!! He's super friendly and kind, always willing to help out. We had catering for a student film and he was so generous with us! Even came in early so we could get our food back to set on time for our lunch hour! All of the food was delicious! The pork was my personal favorite and I will definitely be going back to eat there again. There was an abundance of food and by the end of lunch, there were no leftovers. He also gave us fudge at no charge simply because he's generous! The fudge was delicious and if you love chocolate you are for sure going to love that. Highly recommend!
