I visited this place over five years ago, and it was so good that I remembered it when I came back to Azusa. First off, I totally recommend the Canyon City Sampler if you can't decide what to get. It can easily feed 2-3 people (I'd say 3, but 2 if you both eat a lot). Here are my thoughts on the individual meats and sides: Pork Rib - WOW. It's so tender and fall-off-the-bone. Nice BBQ flavor and just so good. (5/5) BBQ Chicken - Tasty with a nice bite and tons of flavor. I added some extra BBQ sauce to make it even better. (4.5/5) Beef Brisket - Cooked really well with a great texture. Soft and easy to eat. (4.5/5) Pulled Pork - Very good, but my least favorite of the meats. A bit drier than the rest. (4/5) Cornbread - Tasty and served with flavored butter. It's not the moistest cornbread I've had, but it's still super good. Recommended! (4.5/5) Mash & Gravy - A classic done well. The gravy has a strong flavor and is made from the brisket drippings. Tasty. (4.5/5) This place is a total hidden gem tucked away in a random corner. They serve really good BBQ at what I'd consider a reasonable price. Parking - They have a small lot for 3-4 cars, but there's plenty of street parking.

Carnitas taco. A rub, not bbq sauce! Heartburn!!

I have loved this place for years. Awesome bbq. The old guy who owns the place is my type of guy. They only get four stars this time cause they changed their carnitas on me. Instead of just being plain pork they made it with a rub of some kind. Don't know if it was cumin or paprika but it did not agree! Heartburn city! ‍ ‍ Kept burping it up all night. I just hope this is NOT the new norm.

Service was great! Food was pretty good, however I wasn't a huge fan of the bun. It was kind of crumbly and had a weird texture. The fries were also just okay they reminded us of McDonald's fries. The meat itself had great flavor though! Ambiance was cozy and very fitting for the cuisine.

I have heard from several people that this place was great. IT WAS. It was a great call. We were in the neighborhood so when they asked where we should go eat, I suggested this place. My wife and I agreed to order the brisket and rib combo plate but at the last minute, she ordered the Rodeo Fries. Nope, I just ordered the brisket [7 oz] with garlic bread and Mac N Cheese sides. I also ordered a smoked sausage on the side. Between my daughter and I, we both ate and still took a lot of brisket home for tomorrow's lunch. My daughter's boyfriend ordered the three BBQ sliders and they were really good. In fact, he did not eat the BBQ chicken slider so into my lunch container it went! :) The food was prepared very well. Great taste and we ordered the BBQ sauce on the side because the girls like the sauce lightly spread where my meat should not be visible. Both sauces were good. Ain't gonna lie, and nobody can prove it, but I used the "pork" BBQ sauce on my beef brisket. Cause I'm a rebel like that :) Service was great; our drinks were continuously filled and they were very friendly. Place was cute but it was a bit warm during this lunch hour. They have a bar up front; wish they had a Happy Hour. wink wink

We ordered the Canyon City Sampler on line so I havent seen the restaurant. The food arrived packed and warm. There are four meats included in the tray - tender seasoned pulled pork; bbq tender, juicy chicken,; juicy, thinly sliced brisket seasoned and topped with bbq sauce and pork ribs. The mashed otatoes were fluffy, well seasoned and pefect as was the mac and cheese- yummy and creamy. This meal is well worth the price!

Attended a retirement party, which was catered by Canyon City BBQ. The host had ordered pork and beef ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and chicken entrees, along with all of the sides. It was an amazing event, and everyone kept raving about the food!

Heard rumors on the BBQ wind about Canyon City BBQ, so naturally, I followed the smoky scent of meat dreams to San Gabriel Ave.... right in the middle of suburbia, where you'd least expect to find BBQ bliss!! Walked in and boom........ greeted w top-tier service and the smell of smoked heaven. I ordered the 10 oz brisket (because I'm not here to snack, i'm here to feast) with potato salad and white rice slathered in brisket gravy. I gotta say, that rice w gravy combo was so good it could file for joint custody w the brisket!! Soulmates!! Flavor besties!! A BBQ love story!! The place itself was spotless. Like, sparkle-level clean. The restroom? I walked in and was hit w a bleachy breeze so strong I thought I was being interviewed for a janitorial job. My boss would've wept tears of pride!! In short: great food, better vibes, and restrooms so clean you could host a BBQ in there (but please don't).

Just WOW. We finished our dinner 3 hours ago and we're still talking about how good this was. My husband and I recently got back from Tennessee (home of some serious BBQ), but this local spot, right in the heart of Azusa, blew me away -- hands down the best BBQ I've had in a long time. I ordered the piggy fries and a hot link, and both were absolutely packed with smoky flavor and just the right amount of heat. My husband and mom each went with a 1/2 slab of pork ribs and brisket, plus classic sides: coleslaw and potato salad. Everything was tender, seasoned to perfection, and clearly made with care. And by the way, the BBQ sauces are superb! From portion size to flavor, and customer service and cleanliness, this place nails it. Whether you're a BBQ snob or just hungry, you won't leave disappointed. We'll definitely be back!

Jimminy Christmas why did I not come here sooner? Came in on a random weekday for lunch, and every single thing I had was pitch perfect. Pulled pork: tender and delicious. Brisket: juicy and delicious. Corn bread: corny and delicious. You get the drift. Go! The worst thing about this place is trying to figure out which door is the front door, but don't worry, you'll figure it out.

Been here a thousand times we came in a little late, maybe they should have just turned us away because staff was super rude especially the large girl slamming the chairs while making death stair eye contact the food is always amazing, so maybe if I decide to come back it will be much earlier they made it very obvious that they were unhappy to see us

Not very friendly and not really acknowledging the people that were standing waiting to be seated. Finally got a table, gave us menus and then 15 minutes go by and they haven't taken our order for drinks. As I look around there were 4 tables that had been seated, as well and no drink orders. We all waited about the same amount of time to get our drink orders. This unfortunately is why i took off 2 stars. To me, this unacceptable. After being seated and food came out, no one checked in until I needed a box and to pay. Did not feel welcomed and /or appreciated that I was supporting a small local business. Food- Brisket without the BBQ didn't have enough flavor. These types of meat don't need a hype man- the BBQ sauce. They need to be good on their own. Buuut Meat was tender. I read that their sausage is not great it's quite dry so I skipped it, my son had ordered ribs so I was going to steal from him, so I decided to get chicken- dark meat options. Chicken was very tasty, juicy and tender. It was the star of the dinner plate!!! Whaat!!! Their coleslaw- loved how everything was chopped nice and consistent- loved the Julienned green apples- again missing seasoning. DINNER ROLLS- Soooo fucken dry and not warmed up. I expect that level of hardness on my rolls when they are about to expire. Warm them up put them in a basket and give me butter. Such a small - perhaps minute action- but it was a huge miss. Other patrons were also commenting how bad the rolls were. We even joked, "death by dinner roll! " LOL. Cornbread- small portion but packed with flavor. I would say ease up on the Honey. I want to taste the corn bread too. It's unfortunate, I didn't have the experience others have had. Most likely not going to add it to my new restaurant rotation. There are other better options with better customer service.

I arrived at Louis's Hawaiian BBQ (Azusa) on Tuesday (around 10:54AM). Parking is bad. The private lot is busy and cramped. Luckily, I found an open spot. Customers can order at the self-service kiosk or counter. Staff is professional and hardworking. Staff also happily answered my questions. According to Staff, the Lunch Special offers less food than the ordinary menu. My meal took 11 minutes and 44 seconds. Good pace. I appreciated the Chicken Katsu with Curry Sauce ($12.99). The Chicken Katsu is very crisp and crunchy while not being too dry. The rice and macaroni salad are clean and tasty. And the portions are very BIG! This affordable meal can easily feed two people. There's also genuine effort in this food. If I had to nitpick, the curry sauce is a little too salty, but it's comforting. Regarding ambiance, Louis's Hawaiian BBQ (Azusa) is clean and cramped. There's four shiny tables and one counter. There's also no restroom; rather, there's a bottle of hand sanitizer near the kiosk. I appreciated the clean windows and well-swept floors. Could have been fried a little longer but nice and meaty and the sauce is good. Our ranch came open and spilled all over the bag so that was a bummer. Both pizzas were very tasty. $17.99 for a small, but it was more than enough because they do not skimp on toppings at all. I wish the crust was a little crispier or chewier maybe a little more salty. It didn't have a great handmade crust feel or flavor and it wasn't chewy like 00 flour. I would probably try the thin crust next time. But the flavor of the ingredient toppings was fantastic. I got the butter chicken one, and as you can see from my photo it was absolutely loaded with chicken. You could taste the sauce, the red onion, and the chicken. This was seriously a yummy pizza. The spice level was perfect. Enough to have a tingle but not so hot you can't taste. And super super filling. My husband got the spicy pepperoni. He loved the big pepperoni on there. It was ooey and gooey. He felt similarly about the crust, but I bet you tomorrow in the air fryer that will be nice. We also like a thin crispy crust, regardless.
