Great stop in the Catskills. I love the specialty food items. Each is made with natural ingredients and the flavor is amazing.

I have come here quite a few times for breakfast and have yet to ever be disappointed. The staff is nothing short of nice and accommodating, and their food is delicious. The cafe itself is unique with it's decorated interior and I'd recommend this place to anyone. Parking is a bit difficult if/when they are busy, but everything else makes up for it. While driving through we came across this little gem. We were greeted by Erin she was extremely nice and very welcoming. As she read off the specials we found ourselves each ordering one of them. Once we received our food we each gave a little to each other to try and may I say if I could have eaten each meal I would have, they were all delicious. Erin came back several times to check on us and I could not help but compliment on how good the food was. If you get a chance it is a must stop and if Erin waits on you she is the best. read more

Service was slow, the ATM wouldn't work (was told they use dial up) didn't get a whole lot of food, what I did get was ok. It did have nice things to look at for decorations. My BF and I went to the Log Cabin Café because it came highly recommended from the ladies at the Greene County Visitor's Center. The place is small-ish but holds a few tables (and stools for counter sitting), shelves of locally made products and a convenience section for those on the run which offers eggs, milk, newspapers and a coffee bar. I must say the place is charming and clean-so clean! The menu is on the smaller side but provides something for everyone. They have a menu board behind the counter with the days specials which adds another few items to choose from including whatever homemade soup the chef made for the day (Italian Wedding soup was the days specialty). Also on the board, written very tiny, is the fact that this place is cash only. For our lunch I decided on the black bean burger wrap for $8.95 which came with a choice of side and the BF got the Caribbean Salad which was a large season chicken breast over mixed greens, sliced almonds and mandarin oranges. Was the service slow? ...it was close. Just when I started to remark that the food was taking a long time, it came out and was beautifully presented. You could tell the chef wanted to perfect his product and he succeeded. Both our dishes were delicious, well thought out and were a nice change from the normal Catskill fair. I don't mind waiting a few extra minutes if I'm going to get food that's good! Our waitress was cheerful and eager to please. We cannot wait to return to this little gem! read more

The interior of this little cafe is adorable. I love that owners are actually there waiting tables and cooking in the back. The food could be a bit better though. Their french toast is made with rye which isn't how french toast should be made. Also, maple syrup is $1.50 extra. I think if you're going to have the option of maple syrup just work it into the price of the breakfast dish and do away with the cheap syrup. The Catskills is big on breakfast, so I don't see myself returning when there are a lot of other great places out there, but if you're in the area give it a try. read more

Took an early morning motorcycle trip up to this spot with some of my friends. They were extremely accommodating to our large group even though the place is small. Every single thing we ordered was fantastic! We came in right before they were supposed to close, along with a group of ten that had just been seated when we arrived. The waitress was so friendly and really great. We waited longer than usual for our food but it was totally worth it. The cook actually came out and apologized for the wait. Who does that? So nice. I had the turkey ruben and it was just wonderful. It was served with delicious macaroni salad. My sisters both enjoyed their meals as well. One had a burger and the other had roast beef. We came upon this cafe when our original destination was closed. It was only a half hour before closing, but we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Our order was taken as soon as we were ready. There was a little bit of a wait because we arrived just behind a large group. When the sandwiches came, they were worth the wait. I had The Round Top- roast beef, sautéed onions and cheddar cheese on a roll with a side of macaroni salad. Wonderful! My two sisters both had turkey Reuben's made with coleslaw on marble rye. One had the potato salad, the other had macaroni salad. Both raved about their sandwiches. The chef came out and personally apologized for the delay. We told him his food was worth it. My weekend house is not too far from the Log Cabin Cafe, yet I've only eaten here on 3 occasions, each as mediocre as the last. First off - the water: UGH! If you're not from around here, you're probably unfamiliar with what we call "sulfur water". It's a hard, smelly well water that imparts a horrible "rotten egg" taste to whatever is prepared with it. They have the nerve to serve this stinkwater to their paying customers! Folks around here don't even consider this water drinkable, and most of the local restaurants serve purified water to their customers, but not this place. One whiff, and you'll know what I mean. Their foul-smelling coffee and juices-from-concentrate are all made from that same bilgewater, so don't bother ordering any of those, either. Bring your own bottle of water, as I learned to do following my first visit. Yes, the service here is indeed S-L-O-W! The place usually has just a handful of local regulars in it, plus the occasional visitor or two, so there is really no excuse for that. As for the food...meh. It's average, at best. Eggs, toast, sandwiches, etc. None prepared out of the ordinary, and certainly nothing to write home about. And to make matters worse, they don't take any cards, either - strictly cash only. So if you happen to not be able to find this little place in the middle of nowhere, don't sweat it, don't GPS it, just keep going. You didn't miss much. read more

The pro's: One of the only places you can go to when you are in the Cairo (NY) area - usually camping. The setting is nice. It is clear that though has been put into the design, in order to make it seem like a friendly cabin. The staff was very friendly. The con's: The food was mediocre. The eggs were actually good (sunny side up), but the omelette and pancakes were bland. In my opinion an omelette is not an egg folded across vegetables. The vegetables should be incorporated into it (in their favor I would say that this is quite typical to many places in the US. But it does not make it right. Also in their favor - they did not smother the egg with cheese). The pancakes were bland and there were no options to spruce them up (such as chocolate chips or blueberries). Next, the service was very slow. Finally, having to pay cash in the end, in a place that is quite far away from normal ATM's is not pleasant. read more

A recently opened/renovated cafe/diner that serves good breakfast food and a reasonable price. I was there on 1/30 and was very happy with my 3-egg omelete with tomato, peppers and ham ($6). My buttered rye toast was very fresh and the home fries were very tasty. I also like the style and neat appearance of the cafe. Even the bathroom was very clean. Overall, if I am ever passing through this area again I will make a stop here. Keep in mind they only serve breakfast and lunch and they don't except credit cards. read more

We camped and mountain biked the past few days so the Log Cabin was a welcome retreat in the way to the UCI MTB DH at Windham. After all, BGH burned just about everything edible in the campfire. I ordered the Lumberjack and really dug the crispy cheese deal on the outside of the omelette (a first for me). The ham was great too. All the fellas liked their meals as well. My friend and I had a simple breakfast; eggs, hash brown, toast, and coffee. It was simple yet fulfilling and good. Not all places know how to cook good eggs, as simple as it sounds. The hash brown was just right. I've never been to a place where they give you quality bread; I've always been served the Wonder bread type of quality. The portion was just right.
