Here's a possible Yelp post: "Disappointing experience at Loft Marina Del Rey I bought clothes from Loft online and decided to return them in-store at the Marina Del Rey location on Admiralty Way. Arrived around 9:57-9:58 am, parked right in front. The sales clerk at the door greeted an Asian customer but ignored me completely. The cashier didn't greet me either while I was doing my return and purchase. As a longtime Ann Taylor shopper (since the 90s, when Loft launched!) and I work in corporate , I know what good service looks like. This Loft location didn't get it right. This is one of the most incompetent stores I've been in a long time. I was supposed to be given an extra discount on an item because of a stain and after she completed the purchase, I checked my receipt on the way out and saw the discount was not taken off. I showed her the receipt again and she says: well it's on there somewhere. I added up all the discounts according to the receipt and showed her: the discount was nowhere to be found. After I showed her my receipt, she started rattling off about my options at which point I just left because I was just so disgusted with the whole situation because we also waited very long in the line. Lack of customer service, I've shopped at Loft for so many years now never had a bitter sour taste experience everrrr, today I'm taking my time to write this review for simple reason; the level of disrespect and disappointment I got from both staffs (ladies); one thing that I've always notice and enjoy at any store weather is a cheap mid class or high end store is the "customer acknowledgment " as you walk in a store I've been to all kinds of stores and never felt like today. Today as I walked in NO ONE greeted me whatsoever, that's not the issue the issue is the disrespect, if this was to be an undercover manager that's investigating store customer service quality, this would've been epic; as I'm walking with the 3 corduroy pants I chose because those are the ones I buy each fall/winter season for work and I get them at Loft beside all their other beautiful and affordable clothesline; proceeding my point as I'm walking pretending that I'm browsing around suddenly and intentionally I moved against one of the walls of clothing; suddenly and immediately I got the attention of this worker she's a curly hair to her shoulder length or slightly below she's a light skin I couldn't get her name , however she came almost running towards me and couldn't make it more obvious that she was chasing/following me; in all this she didn't simulate to cover up and patch it up by greeting me or offering assistance on the items I had in my arms; today I went specifically for this pairs of pants; she was behind me I felt so uncomfortable that I felt like leave everything and walk away but because I came from far and I was also waiting for my daughter that was next door; she did not greet me meanwhile she kept greeting every single customer's that walked in after me and my intentions was to confine myself that I was not the one with the issue ; after few minutes my daughter came in; but prior to that I was still browsing around and there comes the second exhibit, there was another staff member a lady like with a medium tan with a black or dark brunette hair if I'm not mistaken she's Hispanic however same thing the condescending behavior the stereotype demeanor; she was greeting every single customer coming in and offering her help both of the workers and back and forth in all this I commented to my daughter about it; I was so disgusted by these workers because I can't understand how is it that corporate and management allows this and how is it that they match an assessment test that they passed while applying online and how is it that the hiring managers cannot compare and tell or enforce customer service and that these assessments test should match with their in person interview demeanor behavior expressions body language; I understand robberies and shoplifting is going on 24/7 but come on you should be able to distinguish between a person who walks in and browsing and needing assistance with a fitting room or color sizing etc; and they couldn't see me????? Really???? They couldn't see me walking the whole entire store from wall to wall square ft this is ridiculous and unacceptable. BECAUSE AT THE END IF THE DAY THEY THE TWO WORKERS SHOULD UNDERSTAND THAT THEY HAVE 2 OPTIONS AT THAT POINT: EITHER APPLY FOR A DIFFERENT PLACE OR HAVE SOME MORE TRAINING IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THEIR SKILLS, THEIR DEMEANOR, at the end of the day if they're there is because they need the job and they applied in retail because they committed to customer satisfaction; and therefore their paychecks depend on each POS, each sale on a day to day basis. And in the contrary to close this review I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU TO THE YOUNG LADY IN THE FITTING ROOM NAME GENESIS WHO MADE IT UP AT THE VERY END. Very courteous very professional and very polite, UNLIKE the other two who were VERY UNPROFESSIONAL RUDE AND CONDESCENDING . This store has a good selection of clothing and a pretty extensive petite section which I appreciate, since it's super difficult for me to find clothing that actually fits me. I absolutely love the clothes from the Loft! They're really cute and fit nicely! The only reason I gave them a three is because I had an online order that I decided to pick up at this store. I waited in line and the sales associate, lady with dark long heat in a ponytail helped me out. She was really dismissive and when I asked her if they had any scarfs, she answered "very few"... didn't even go show me the fee they had. I just felt she was rude, she acted like she was doing me a favor. Maybe she hates dealing with online orders, who knows, but it's not likely I'll be back! read more

I am so glad that I went to read yelp reviews...because I thought it might be me. I have had the worst experience with an attitudinal salesperson. She tried to say I was a problem when actually it was her. I complained to the manager. I hope it will help but I doubt it. The horrible employee seems like her attitude usually works for her...not for me. I suggest better staff training and they need to be more proactive dealing with bad employees. read more

I wandered into this location to buy some time before heading off to our YEE Badge event on the marina. Located in a shopping center next to starbucks, and near sephora, fresh brothers, and Sees candy. Inside was inviting, and signs stating sale! You had me at Sale! Usually my sizes are online but I decided to look around to find a deal. Boy did I!! I found an adorable long navy blue stripped dress and a cute orange top in my size on sale 40% off and although final sale, everything was under $25 score!!! Always neat and today a great value of everything in the store at-40% and the final sale items are an additional-60%. Perfect pricing to promote fashion experimentation out of your comfort zone. Also, a tip from the nice associate- when buying petite sizes when you normally wear regular, buy one size bigger... No service this time. No associates. No greeter. No personality in the ONE CASHIER when asked if any associate was working on the floor as she made chit chat leisurely conversation with one of ten customers ignoring everyone else. Loft moved ages ago to the other side of the Villa Marina Marketplace. They are now next to West Marine and Sees Candies. The store is still great and the employees here are all pretty friendly. There must be a lot of people my size who shop here. Or not a lot of people who are my size because they had tons of Size Small and Extra Smalls but not too many Large or Extra large clothes. In the past, I've had great luck at Loft and recently ordered a pair of pants for curbside pickup. The store's website informed me that it would take 2 hours. Instead it took several calls and 2 days as it wasn't actually in stock and had to be shipped to the store. Then I drove 45 min to pick up the pants. Arrived at 5:30 to find the store closed. Sign outside still said 6pm closing on Tuesday. I give up. Staff don't seem to care about service and the store isn't maintaining its systems. read more

Suzie Q's Fun Facts: Marina del Rey is a lot smaller than it seems: It's only 1.5 square miles. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ The manager in this store is such an inappropriate, snotty, raving b%4tch, that I practically had a stroke from the frustration and stress of dealing with her. I went to return some stuff the other day. It turns out I was out of the return window. I get it: I mistimed the return, which is my fault. BUT: While I can stomach the consolation prize of a merchandise credit at the "then-current price" (read: super deep discounted), I will NOT stomach being informed that after purchasing the items, they have since become "final sale," so can't be returned even for a merchandise credit. Oh HELL no. I know false advertising when I see it. You can't sell someone something that isn't flagged as "final sale," then arbitrarily deem them "final sale" when the hapless consumer tries to return them. I had to threaten to file a complaint to get this horrible individual to give me the merchandise credit that I deserved. Meanwhile, I was ignored as I shopped after that encounter. And when I purchased enough merchandise to qualify me for six of the $25 merchandise "coupons," I somehow wasn't shocked when the same bee-otch of a manager refused to give me my six $25 coupons, and instead, wrote on a single coupon that I was owed six of them. (I saw a whole pile of these coupons..... she just didn't feel like giving that many to me). Word to the wise, sisters: Stay the heck away from this toxic, crappy LOFT. Give your business to the nearby White House | Black Market, instead, where the clothing is beautifully made, and the sales associates are generally very friendly and accommodating. P.S. I agree with another reviewer who mentioned that the clothing at LOFT has gone downhill. What's with all the shapeless, polyester, maternity-looking blouses and tops here? Why no flattering darting or seams? And why are all the work trousers now "skinny" (so you look like you're wearing leggings)? Just when you thought customer service was a thing of the past... Ann Taylor Loft associates are the best I've seen ever and I have a retail management background. I was looking for a dress for a wedding last summer and one of their associates saw what I had in my hand. She said..."that is a very nice dress...but, you must try this as well...it looks great on." It wasn't a dress I would have normally noticed off the shelf. But, she was on the money! Not only did the dress fit beautifully...but, they had a nice shrug to match. They didn't have the shoes in my size...but, quickly dialed up a store in Orange County and had them delivered to me at home. I must mention...I got everything on sale as well...an added bonus! To have a complete outfit for a wedding for under $100 is almost unheard of these days. Keep up the great work Ann Taylor Loft. You have a customer for life! read more

I love coming to the Loft. I'm 36 years old and at that awkward stage where I am too old to shop at Forever 21 and I'm too young for Chicos. ATL has great options for me that are age appropriate. I admit that the store could rotate stock a little more but then again, maybe I just need to shop here a little less! The clothes are a good quality that lasts for years. The styles are timeless but you can always find the latest trends as well. The only thing I can't buy here are pants. For whatever reason, I have never found a pair pants that fit me well at the Loft. For that, I go to Express! read more

I hate to have to write a bad review, but my experience at this store left me infuriated at the manager and I absolutely had to share. Talk about lack of professionalism! It was mid week (very slow at retail, I know because I work in a sector of the industry) at around 7pm. I walked in because 1. I love LOFT and will say that they have great clothing even for someone in their mid twenties and 2. Because let's face it they have great sales and these sales are pretty much going on ALL the time. Anyways, I had an email coupon that I wanted to use so I asked the sales person if I could use the $25 off my purchase coupon on top of the 40% sale they were having. She told me yes so I went to try on a few pieces. Here is where it gets interesting: Upon trying on my clothes I go up to the register with the pieces I want to purchase. There is a sweet girl standing at the register and the manager and another associate are standing directly behind her talking amongst each other. The girl at the register does her typical lingo "would you like to open a loft card bla bla" the corporate spiel was on point except I could tell that she was very uncomfortable and nervous. As she does her "register presentation" which I know most corporate companies require, I notice the manager and associate snickering amongst each other and laughing. They were gossiping about this poor girl! Or maybe it was about me? Who knows, who cares, but it made both this girl at the register feel uncomfortable and me as a customer. The girl continues to ring me out as the manager and other associate walk away from behind the register. I notice there is a price discrepancy ( every item I picked out did not ring up as 40% off as I thought). I ask the sweet girl at the register about this and she explains to me that only CERTAIN items in the store are 40% off, not all, and she points to the signs showing me around the store. No problem at all! I tell the girl at the register that I am sorry but I would rather wait for those items to go on sale (because I know they will have one within a week, sorry Loft). I kindly tell her that I will certainly be back and apologize for the confusion. Here's the kicker: The store was silent while I was having this discussion with the girl at the register (because as I mentioned it was slow that day). As I'm turning around to leave the register I hear the other associate and manager laughing and the associate (in a mean girl kind of way) scoffs and says to the manager "hah she thought the whole store was 40% off" and laughs. This was out loud! I could have really gone on a frenzy...who does that in front of a customer?? But I didn't. Instead I walked out and fumed. Really?? Is it uncommon for your entire store to be 40% off? Because as far as I know you send out daily emails of this sale and that sale. Doesn't seem too far fetched to me! Anyways...point here is not sale or no sale. Point is that the management is SO poor and the customer service is God awful! This is the closest loft to my home but I refuse to go back and give that particular store my business. Their corporate really needs to be alerted. read more

I have to say that my one star rating is based on my non-shopping experience at this store as opposed to retail therapy, which I was very much looking forward to. I recently moved to Marina del Rey and I looked up the nearest Loft store and whatdaya know there is one a few block away from me. I searched the hours of operation and there it is on the website, clear as day - Tuesady 10am-9pm. So I show up at 8:15ish and there is store is closed!! No one inside, lights are dim and the door is locked! I guess that I'll just stick to the online shopping or visit a store closer to work. But, needless to say, I was very disappointed. read more

Spent some good $$$ here the other day during their after-xmas sale. They have a pretty big space with a lot of petite wear items. The small sizes seem to run out the quickest though. I think this store stocks a lot of large sizes too -- up to a 16 -- when other stores only stock up to a size 12/14. Just a note though -- ATL down-marks their sizes (if you normally wear a size 6 pants, you're a size 4 ATL). Took a while to figure out since I didn't know they did that until I tried a couple of items on and wondering why they fit all weird and had to choose the smaller size. The service was pretty good except one lady gave attitude and didn't want to help me find an item. It's ok though, I went to the other ladies and they totally made up for it. The sales rack is at the back and I've always managed to find some good items there. Parking is free at the back of the mall. read more

I was in there this afternoon and had a wonderful experience by a really nice and helpful attendant and the manager was great also. The gal at the counter went above and beyond helping me a return, an online order, and some in store items as well. They seem to be stepping up there service and it's definitely noticeable. Came in today after lunch to see what deals I could find, Im a big stickler on greeting and customer service. One lady walk right by me without saying hello or welcome she almost bumped me in passing and didn't even say excuse me in a very small space,she went straight to the sales rack to put up a return item. Now I'm in the sale area right next to the checkout the sales/cashier never address me saying hello or anything the store was not busy it was one other lady and I and one lady on the sales floor putting clothes back on rack and one behind register. Now the other lady ask a question to the sale rep on the floor about a shirt and her reptile was I don't know so the lady put down and move on. Their fall clothes out right now are incredible. I usually don't find much when I go out shopping but I found about 10 items that I love. The sales girls are so helpful and friendly! I never sign up for store credit cards but I did here and got 60% off! The shopping center they're in is pretty cute with cobblestone walk ways, fountain, outdoor tables with umbrellas, etc. AND there's a White/Black next door (one of my favorite stores). I pop in this shop regularly as its close to home, but after my last experience I'll keep walking past. They are never much for greeting you which I have experienced several times now. I have had to ask them to start a room after I had several pieces I had collected. Last time I went in for a birthday present for a friend. Specifically on 6/22 around 5:00pm, (manager take note) No greeting this time, I asked them if they had any gift boxes, they said yes. When I had my purchase selected not 5 minutes later, the same girl did not ask me if I would like the box, a little test, on auto pilot, yup. Then I was handed a big gift box, I asked for something smaller, she did not have one, then I asked for tissue paper, and the other girl actually chuckled and said "oh we have not had any for a long time". I like this ATL since it is one of the larger ones in the South Bay. It carries more of the casual/sport line. The Petites section is somewhat more expanded than the others in the area. Customer Service at this location is great. We had an expired coupon and the person ringing us up did an override so we could get the discount. And the women working here were actually still smiling at 8pm on a Saturday evening. read more

This LOFT is located in the amazing Villa Marina Marketplace - you can hit the bank, post office, grocery store, grab a little lunch at CPK or Mendocino Farms, AND get a little shopping in at the nearby boutiques, LOFT, and BCBG while you're at it... HEAVEN. I really like LOFT's concept - Ann Taylor's more casual sister. I wouldn't call their style "trendy," but there are on-trend pieces that you could easily work into your wardrobe without looking like you're trying too hard. The staff here is super friendly and nice (they helped me track down a pair of shorts in my size and had them sent to me). The store is bright and spacious. A very pleasant shopping experience. Only con is the parking situation - there is a MASSIVE lot, but can get quite crowded during peak lunch hours. read more

The absolute worst customer service! I have never been inspired to write a negative Yelp review while shopping for clothes, but today's experience is worth mentioning. I walked into this Loft location and there was no greeting. I can live with that, but the two employees by the door were engaged in a full-on complain / gossip session with each other, instead of acknowledging my presence. I was there for some new work clothes and started gathering everything I wanted to try. It took me a while to find what I was looking for without any employee help, but eventually, my arms were piled with clothing. No one offered to start me a room. When I tried to flag down an employee, she ignored me. Yes, she actually did ignore me. I get myself a fitting room and then realize I need another size of something. Of course there isn't anyone nearby who is available to help with this. Although, I do hear two employees in the back storeroom chatting, so I guess that means someone was nearby -- just preoccupied with chit chat. I run out to find my size, obviously flustered. This is about the time I started formulating this review. Shopping for clothes is hard enough without feeling ignored and frustrated by bad customer service. There were a lot of employees on the clock during this time. I counted at least 4 or 5. And the store was empty of customers. What's going on here? Anyhow, this story ends with me standing at the register with the clothes I wanted to purchase, without a helping hand in sight. I was eventually able to find someone to ring me up, but her demeanor was less than friendly. I'm not sure what's up with this store. I generally like Loft's clothing, but if I'm going to leave feeling this frustrated by the service, I'll stick to shopping online. read more
