My favorite clothing store on Abbot Kinney. Ananda is one of the first stops on our list when my friends and I are in the area. This small boutique specializes in female clothing, accessories, and fun knick knacks. I purchased my favorite corduroy pants here, as well as a few tops/dresses. I love that every item is unique and you won't find it copy/pasted across the Venice boardwalk. It's also a great place to search for the perfect gift. I found a dainty gemini necklace for one of my best friends and she's worn it non-stop for months. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area! While the items aren't cheap, they're definitely more affordable than the majority of Abbot Kinney shops. read more

Thanks to Coachella, Outside Lands and the like, the bohemian trend is a look that won't go away soon. Ananda called to me because it's not a typical store that I would go to. I don't own anything remotely fringe-y, flower child, retro, zen vibe at all. I love that the prices here are much more affordable than the rest of the stores along Abott Kinney. From chunky jewelry, cute booties, sexy crop tops, floral dresses, candles, journals, etc. If you need to kill an hour of your time and be treated aesthetically, this is your spot. The store itself is everything one should love about Venice: equal parts kitschy and ethereal. The employees are everything you would hate about Venice. Out of all the stores lined on Abbot Kinney, you'll at least get a chuckle out of the behavior these part-timers (and possibly owner) project onto their customers. This was a surprise find! We went to explore abbot Kinney as we haven't been there in so long. I found this place and all I can say is wow. The customer service was above par. We were greeted right away and were offered help by friendly employees. The place is just adorable and had the cutest dresses in so many colors. Their accessories were also amazing and I found exactly what I wanted. This place is great for gifts as well. Hip little shop on Abbot Kinney in the cool shopping and dining area of Venice beach. Stopped in yesterday. It smells a little like incense and oils and they sell yoga beads and quartz stones. But they also have some chic clothes - pretty blouses- funky fall sweaters and romantic skirts. I loved the jewelry. I bought two silver bands for $22. Very thin and great for layering. Also bought a gift for my daughter. Might go back and get one of those sweaters too. The employees were lovely- stop in when you are visiting Abbot Kinney. read more

I spotted this great boutique because of the wall art outside the building. On entering I'm feeling this zen boho vibe with a stylish shop girl greeting me calmly. I felt as ease pondering the soft tunics, dresses, jewelry, books, and accessories. Reasonable prices invite me to try on several items and I leave with the treasure of my vacation to California. A long sleeve t shirt dress, knotted-back fringe crop top, 2 lace bralettes, a crystal wrap bracelet, and a sterling midi ring come home with me. I want to go back and buy that dress in every color! I've never before written a Yelp review, but I've never been so humiliated in my life by a shop owner. I spent the day shopping in Venice with my friend, bought 4 things at this shop. Afterwards, I was stalked down the street by the shop owner in her car and was interrogated and accused of shop lifting (but she wasn't even sure of what items). I was so bewildered, I didn't even understand what she was asking at first. When I realized what was happening, I immediately offered to show her the contents of my bag. She refused and told me she would watch the videos in the store to see if I'm telling the truth. No apology, no nothing. I was shocked, humiliated and embarrassed and will never step foot in here again. I would recommended others to do the same. I wish I could return the things I bought. I stopped in here this past Saturday afternoon and wound up getting two tank tops (on sale for 2 for $20!), an ombre sea blue jersey dress for $32, and a nice chunk of Pyrite for $12. Their prices are quite reasonable for the Abbot Kinney shops- great if you want to pop in for a cute casual date outfit or want to pick up a cute gift for a friend- they had several Frida Kahlo wall hangings, dainty beaded bracelets, books, crystals, and fringed purses. The workers are friendly and let you browse without interfering, and there's an upper level with more finds, including a sales rack with $20 and under pieces. read more

Whenever I'm walking along Abbott Kinney, I always make a point to pop in to Ananda to see the cute stuff they got, and they've got cute stuff in spades! I totally agree with Lotus L. who said it reminded her of a cheaper, friendlier Urban Outfitters, and I'd also like to add "less pretentious" to that list. I'd never bought anything here for myself before last weekend when it happened to be my lucky day and there were two cute tops that called to me. My friend who came with me got a super bargain on a snazzy yellow top and matching scarf. Also, while the salespeople aren't bubbling with enthusiasm most of the time, when you get them going they do turn out to be pretty nice people. I wandered into this store when I was killing time, and I was absolutely not going to purchase anything due to a recent spending spree. But then I saw this black skirt that looked like I could dress it up for an evening out or pair it with sandals and a tank top for a more casual day thing. And since I was trying on the skirt, I needed to try on a top because the one I had on wouldn't look right with it, so I grabbed this Kelly green drape-y thing. I tried on the outfit, loved it, and justified the purchase by telling myself it was just what I needed if some "hip cocktails" type event arose. (The justification sounded silly even to me.) Strangely enough, I got a last minute invite to a hip cocktails event the next night. Clothing karma? Maybe. Also, I bought a wallet (I needed one!), but I still walked out of the store spending less than $100 total. My only qualm: the skirt doesn't seem like the most well-made product ever. I really enjoy this shop! Probably one of my favorite stoes to shop in whenever I'm in Venice and doin the Abbot Kinney thing =) I've visited on several occasions. Things I have purchased here include a blouse, jewelry, and Inspiration Cards. Besides clothing they also offer other items such as books, cd's, and decorative pieces. It is a "quaint" place that has a nice feeling and not corporate as say....Urban Outfitters? There's a bit more personal feel. ** There is also One thing that I also adore here...They use "Bio Bags" to hold your belongings after you purchase them. BioBag's are "100% compostable and biodegradable! I've never seen these bags used anywhere else (at least so far) Also when you stroll down Abbot Kinney most other women's boutiques are much much more pricey! This place has become my favorite new spot. I stumbled up on it on a Sunday and loved everything in the store. I've been looking for a harem jumpsuit to wear for the summer and they had it along with plenty of other colors. I ended up buying 2 and a few accessories. Here is the main reason I shop at Ananda: it is literally, the only clothing store I can afford on Abbot Kinney. On a block peppered with eclectic, high-end and esoteric labels and hip restaurants du jour, Ananda stands out as the funkier, perhaps shabbier younger sister of the bunch. You know, the one who thinks that flip-flops and a jersey wrap dress are the solution to any fashion quandry. I don't exactly mean this as an insult, but let's face it, their stuff isn't as nice, hence their affordability. Ananda carries a selection of basic tees, jeans and sweaters. They'll always have some cute dresess and jackets on the racks too, plus a selection of menswear and gift items. The selection is very casual and laid back with some fun color choices. My main issue is not with their aesthetic, but with the quality of the clothing. The very first item I purchased from there was a truly adorable frock that I wore out of the store and onto the dance floor where the seams up the sides of the dress unraveled before my eyes. If the dress hadn't been lined, this could have been a huge embarrassment. They do have some bargains, but ultimately, you get what you pay for. Fortunately, what Ananda lacks in quality craftsmanship they make up for with a pleasant, always friendly staff. read more
