I am a Venice local and avoid Abbott Kinney at all costs. However, one day I found myself at Ananda and haven't stopped coming back. The inventory was amazing, but more importantly the staff was phenomenal. I don't normally write reviews but the customer service I receive from Tiahna, David, and Noah is unparalleled. They are attentive, professional, make great recommendations. I felt cared for, appreciated, and truly enjoy the beautiful interactions I have with them. I absolutely love this store. I've lived in the Santa Monica area for a few years now and it's the only boutique I've consistently returned to. You can find great, unique pieces here that will not fall apart (other places seem to have cute but cheaply made stuff that doesn't last longer than a few months). I've gotten great shirts and dresses here that are always a fabulous color, have cool patterns or creative beading. And the prices are right-on for what they're selling. The people that work there are always friendly and they have great jewelry, incense, etc. that would make nice gifts. And there's guys clothes upstairs, too. read more

I came in this store for the first time on Saturday. I bought a pair of pants that were cute, but after seeing a nicer pair at another store, I decided to return the pants to Ananda (Less than an hour later). The girl at the register said they don't do refunds and pointed to a sign that was up on the wall to my right, not in plain sight. I explained that I didn't see the sign and my friend chimed in that she didn't see it either, and explained that I was just in there less than an hour ago and she claimed that their system won't even allow for returns, only store credit or exchanges - which doesn't make sense as the process for store credit can't be that much different. So I was given a receipt with store credit that can be used up to a year - definitely the more flimsy of the store credit options. So I have to carry around a receipt and hope that I don't throw away store credit to a store I'll likely never shop in again?? If your return policies aren't posted directly in front of a customer's view while they're checking out, it is your duty to make the customer aware of your return policies. I don't want store credit, I simply want a refund, and I don't think the poor excuse of a return policy sign out of plain view is a sufficient solution. read more

Ananda is an affordable, beach casual shop with a friendly staff. It's my favorite wallet-friendly boutique on Abbot Kinney. Nothing here is crazy expensive or designer, yet it all has style and personality. i live around the corner, and this is where I go when I have a date and need something new to make my look pop. Recent purchases include 2 belts that updated the look of a bunch of my weekend dresses, a chiffony-black and white tunic that is now in constant rotation, a black boho-chic blouse, and a slammin' red patent leather clutch. read more

She personally suggested some pieces for me to pair together as I don't readily exercise any fashion sense lol but regardless I left a happy camper! The energy swirling around Abbot Kinney is beautiful because of boutiques like Ananda. I was drawn into the colorfully painted shop by the kaleidoscopic array of fashion and accessories gleaming into my generally skeptical eyes. I don't often become enticed by visual aesthetics alone, but the fragrance of peace and calm put my attention on this undeniable wonderbox of something for everyone cool. The most important aspect of the shop is the personnel serving and attending the guests who enter. I immediately met the family owners/ design buyers (big plus) and was given the most courteous and gracious greeting. My fiance Ariana and I were able to make a pop-up jewelry presentation on the spot which came by recommendation from Skylark (sister boutique). We felt completely comfortable being here and we could tell we weren't just in a shop, we were in a temple of Ananda. "They believe and care about what they are doing here." I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to me that my jewelry is placed where the shop philosophy and my philosophy agree... and they did perfectly!
