I walked into the store and there was no one else but me. Two store clerks where there staring at their cell phones and none raised there heads to say hello or welcome. As matter of fact they seemed annoyed I walked in. Perhaps disrupting what they were doing. I started looking for some pants and I could have asked for help but I became so aware that they felt I was intruding that I waited for them to ask the simple question "can I help you find something?" Nope, nothing zip. These two dudes did not want to assist or be disrupted. I left the store and nothing. Wow what letdown from an shopping experience. I'm now going back and deleting every word of that praise. Brave Star charges an additional $20-$25 to hem its jeans. Do not use this service. Despite providing exact measurements, I was handed an expensive pair of jeans hemmed several inches too long. I returned them so the mistake could be corrected, came back to pick them up again, and discovered they had done absolutely nothing. No correction, no meaningful explanation, and no apparent concern that they had wasted my time twice and left me with jeans I still couldn't wear. A company that sells premium denim should be capable of performing a basic hem correctly. At the very least, it should take responsibility when the work is clearly wrong. Brave Star did neither. After more than ten years of loyalty and referrals, I was treated as though my business and the quality of their own work were completely irrelevant. I hope Mik and Maria Serfontaine are proud of the standards their company now represents. I certainly wouldn't trust Brave Star with another purchase, and I would strongly advise anyone buying their jeans to take them somewhere competent for alterations.

I have never left a Marshall's crying, especially not on my literal 30th birthday…read more I took the day off of work today for my birthday, and decided to spend the day at Marshall's. I spent three hours meticulously looking for all of the 50% off holiday items. At one point a staff brought a huge cart of holiday candles to restock the Christmas section so I directly took from her cart. At checkout I was told 2/3 of my items were NOT part of the holiday section. I pleaded that there are snowflakes on the lip balm, the palmers lotion said HOLIDAY GIFT SET, and the names of the scents of the candles to which I was told no. A manager and another staff came over to say ok to the lip balm once she saw the snowflake. Then validated her and said she's right these are just red candles it's a no. I one by one picked them up and pleaded "mistletoe noir isn't holiday?" She said ok fine you can have that one. I literally said wow I didn't realize I needed to negotiate and try to convince you for each of these?! As I went and read the names of these candles. She said you don't need to convince me I just didn't read the bottom were really busy. I said then why are saying no before looking?! (Mind you I come here often, there was no one in line, normally line is around the isle and I wait 20min) she stormed away. The way she talked to me was so beyond unacceptable and mean. NO apology for telling me no when not checking. I told the cashier I'm so beyond upset right now this is not how I wanted to feel on my birthday. Moral of the story Barbara didn't let me take many of the candles I am certain were holiday, ultimately I literally got on my car and started sobbing. What a crazy way to spend my day off, and my birthday. Ultimately while Barbara was extremely rude, the ultimate problem is that the items should be in the system as holiday or not instead of letting staff debate with customers. To honor my wedding in 1988, they ordered a candle for my husband and me. We are now on our second candle. And of course they are making candles for both our daughters who were married this year!
