This guy ROBERT is a crook. I called him to re key two doors which he did. He then upsold me to do some alarm system in two offices which I agreed too. He even offered to put up an outdoor security camera which staff would have access to monitor and it would be free, I was curious how he would offer a free camera and he kept saying "because he wants us to be happy" yeah famous last words. He was monitoring the camera and upon arrival of office employees he would show up and one time dropped off some thermostats telling a female manager that he needed payment for materials. We had never even asked for them at all. The manager stated she had no approval to pay for these and to keep them, he insisted on them being left with us and came back two more times for payment, making everyone in the office very uncomfortable. He finally took those thermostats back. In the middle of all this we had some minor electrical work to do at a second location, this is where it gets really shady. Robert is clearly not an electrician, although his contractor license would tell you he is, he brought in another gentleman who was and they did the work requested. It was very sloppy! Installing 3 boxes in the wall crooked and not lined up, after they left we plugged a power cord into one of the boxes and when we pulled it out the box came out of the wall, he came back to fix it and immediately started blaming one of the laborers on the job site who had zero to do with this, they left loose wires exposed in another area and I questioned him about those they said they were dead and needed to be removed. He then grabbed said wires and electrocuted himself. Next we got the classic shake down, he started talking about an alarm system for the premises, I told him that I had other priorities at that time and declined any further work be done. Two nights later just before 10pm I got a text message with a bunch of invoices for equipment he had purchased. I ignored it, another day passed and he called me, I politely explained I wasn't really happy with the quality of his work so at this time I was working with a different electrical contractor and I would call him if I needed any further services. Now the shake down begins, he starts yelling and screaming at me that someone on the job site was out to get him and set all those mistakes up, not true as there is only one other person on site apart from myself and we have worked together for a number of years and would never mess with anything, plus he was there doing some ceiling installation, nothing to do with electrical or alarms. Robert then tells me just to pay him the $1500 for supplies he purchased on my behalf, I advised him that I had never authorized any further work and to simply return his materials or use them on someone else's job. Nope! He needs the money asap or he would call one of his "buddies" at the county and have us turned in. Now I asked him for what, he says no permits, I explained that permits would be pulled once we are settled on a bid. This was for electrical work, all the while he is insisting that he install an alarm system, with cameras that he would monitor. I was pretty sure he was setting the place up so he could come rob us one day. His business card was two sided, vevo electric on one side and the locksmith on the other. The calls late night kept coming, it was like he would get drunk and then want to call me and shake me down for money. I eventually had to report him and his license to the county to stop him hounding me. Overall a very traumatic experience that I wish I had of not even become part of. read more

Terrible customer service. Call the number based on a good review from a family member who used them for her house. Saw they did auto's and programming also, so called them. Received a text to confirm. Initial person I spoke to was a little condescending but helped me figure things out with my valet key. Advised me to buy two more keys online, and then call him and he would come and cut and program the keys. Quoted me a price. Keys arrive, I call, they are too busy to come out, or schedule an appointment further out, advised to call in two days to schedule an appointment. Work got crazy, called and texted, asked if I could have an appointment today around 4. gave my address and details. was asked to call them back- said i was in a meeting for a few hours and would call when meeting was over- they said good, I called, received VM, and left a long message. No response. Called again, spoke to a person who swore he had never spoken to me( even though he answered the mobile phone i had been texting on) . This person tells me he is driving ( They were always driving during every call I placed) and that the information I had been given was incorrect, that they can't guarantee that the remote portion will work, yada yada, will be an extra charge, and no, they do not do it mobile, but they will come cut the key and then go back and forth to the shop. Then said he would call me back in 10 minutes after he "looked up my car information" and I never heard back. read more

I had Robert make a key for me today and he was able to get it working on the first try. The process didn't take long at all, and he provided me with a spare metal key incase anything happened to my main key in the future. Most places I found a hard time to get it done, saying that my 2012 honda civic was a laser key and had advanced security and had to be done at a dealership which would have cost twice as much as what Rob charged. read more

I called Locksmith Central about a week and a half ago to change out the locks on a rental property in Rocklin. They were responsive and very polite. I had to change the date from one day to the next as the tenant was not going to be able to move out on the original date scheduled. Not problem, the change was made. The technician (sorry I can't remember his name and business cards are general with no name which I found strange) was running a little late and gave me a call to advise. Traffic is crazy sometimes in the Sacramento area, that's how it is. He showed up in a very tricked out portable locksmith shop....in a Toyota Prius. I really liked how it was customized for the business. He changed 4 locks in 3 doors in about an hour and gave me 6 keys The charge was $249 which I wasn't sure was a reasonable price or not. I live in SF, everything is crazy expensive but thought for about an hours work seemed a bit on the high side for Sacramento. All in all, the service was very positive. The technician was very polite and did a good job. One small comment with the job is that there was lubricant left on the door handles and keys. For a five, details like this should be taken care of. Robert Bradley that owns and operates locksmith Central gets a negative 1 star to match his ethics. He quoted my wife $250. to make a key for our Tacoma. This job will take a competent locksmith approx. 1/2 hour. It took this guy 2-1/2 hours and he added another $250. to the original quote that was not agreed to. We took him to court and got a judgment against him for $250. and court costs. It appears that he has a history of poor reviews for taking advantage of women. He is under investigation with several agencies at this time for his unprofessional and unethical business practices. Its not about the money people its about the ethics and principal. read more

Way over priced! I should have done more research before calling this company. I needed a key made for my Honda. Turns out I would have saved a lot of money had I just gone to the dealer and had them make a key for me, plus it would have been a fob key compared to the standardized key I got from this company. Also, the entire process from call to finish took over 8 hours. When I called the dealership not only were their prices better but the process wouldn't have taken more than an hour and a half. read more

I bought a used Volkswagen Jetta, which only came with one key. Unfortunately, it's one of those fancy-shmancy jobbers that has a transponder chip in it, so I couldn't just bebop over to Agent Orange (Home Depot) , my usual quick-n-dirty key cutter. I started my research by talking with several Volkswagen dealers (including Elk Grove and Niello), who cheerfully offered to cut and program a basic valet key (no door remote) for $200+, and prices for one to match my current spiffy one - with a switch-blade-like-flip-out key and remote lock - started at over $300. So I started poking around on the internet again. I had found third-party keys starting at $69, but the dealers' warnings that they had never been successful in programming a key ordered off the internet (which I'm sure was probably part of their sales pitch to force me to buy one of theirs) nagged at the back of my brain. So I started searching for an ALOA-certified locksmith in my area, which lead me to Locksmith Central. I had spoken with a couple of locksmiths that charged $125 to $150 just for the programming, which was about what the dealers charged. Then I noticed that Locksmith Central was very local for me, so I gave him a call, and he told me it would be quick, easy, and only around $75-80. In short, Robert was great. I set up an appointment for the next morning, went over to his place of business. An hour later (he was interrupted by a couple of phone calls), I left with a perfectly functional valet key (he didn't have the remote fobs in stock, but told me he could probably program the more inexpensive ones I had seen on AutoTransponder.com) plus a free extra door key for emergency lockouts - all for only $85 including tax. So, if you are in need of a replacement transponder key for your car and live in the Sacramento/El Dorado Hills area, I definitely recommend Locksmith Central. They fixed it! Told me they'd be there in 20 minutes and showed up in three hours (did knock $10 off the total). It was a beast of a problem that I had spent five hours on. He fixed it in just over an hour working intensely on the ignition lock cylinder. Saved me quite a bunch if I had to tow it and have a mechanic fix it in who knows how many days. Very professional. Had 2013 Fusion key cut and programmed, half cost of dealer.

I needed a second set of keys and fob for my 2004 Acura. That requires cutting the key, matching it to the car's security system and computer, and programming the remotes. Quite involved. Posted experiences with Honda/Acura dealerships were mixed, but Robert at Locksmith Central came recommended. Called Robert and he could fit me in the same morning. Since I didn't expect him to stock transponder keys and remotes for every car out there, I came prepared and brought a Honda transponder key blank and an aftermarket fob, both of which I got online. Robert cut the key and it worked right off the bat. He then programmed the key to work with the car's security and electronics, and that worked right off the bat as well. He then programmed the second fob, and, again, he got it right on the first try. All work took less than an hour, and the charge was far less than what I would have had to pay at a dealership. The only reason I gave two stars is because it didn't take him long to get to my house but that was because he happened to be in the area. He still charged me an additional $75 because it was a Sunday, next to the $65 for the service, only to unlock a main door. Outrageous pricing! It was my own fault to not research enough before I called them. I was in a hurry to get it done, but who doesn't want to get back into their own house as soon as possible. I found (after the fact) a much cheaper company but oh well... a lesson learned. read more

Rob came over to repair our front door locks and after trouble shooting the locks which were not broken he told us that the doors were misaligned. He rekeyed our locks and recommended an excellent contractor to repair our two front doors. Rob also rekeyed the garage door. He does very excellent work. It took a bit longer than the 20 minutes the guy told me on the phone; but when he arrived, the locksmith was very apologetic for the delay and he was extremely courteous, polite, and absolutely professional. Just got off the phone with the representative that answered their 1-888-81-LOCKS number. It sounds like some referral company and the person who answered was not competent. I just wanted them to unlock and make keys for a truck bed cover. After explaining that multiple times and being on hold while she checked twice with someone else she asked me for a VIN number and started quoting prices. When I repeated this was not related to the VIN and calmly asked to speak with someone more knowledgeable she hung up. Perhaps if I had called the other number on the website I would have had better luck... but I chose to go elsewhere. read more

My daughter lost her keys and they needed to have a special chip so we couldn't buy a key at Lowes or where ever. Mazda said it would be over $200 to get a new one. But they also said that locksmiths can often do the same thing for cheaper. Fantastic job!!! I needed a replacement key for my 2005 Nissan 350Z and after checking with 2 local Nissan dealers they told me it would cost about $200 to cut and program a new key. I asked them about buying one off the internet and having a local mobile locksmith cut and program and they told me that they often won't hold a code and only the dealer should do it. I saw these Yelp reviews and called Robert at Locksmith Central and asked him his thoughts. He told me he's never had a key lose a code. He suggested buying one off eBay since there are reputable companies selling OEM keys, so I did. After I received it I called him back to arrange for the cut and program. Since there is additional cost to have him meet me at my residence, I met him at a local supermarket parking lot where he had 2 other jobs. When I arrived I thought it might take a lot longer but after about 3 minutes he had the blank cut and then got to programming it with his special computerized equipment. After another 20 minutes he had the new transponder key blank programmed and then reprogrammed the original key. They both work great and the total cost including the key was $82! If you're concerned about him doing the job right, don't be!! Robert told me he's been doing this for over 20 years! He was very professional, courteous and engaging.
