My door jammed at home a week ago and we had to enter and exit through the garage. The homeowners are out of town and said they could fix it when they return (WTH, that's almost 2 weeks. A week from today). It was way too inconvenient to wait so I decided to call a locksmith today afraid of the cost. I was skeptical reading the yelp reviews which praise them soooo much for their service, and the yelp reviews were short and some seemed copied like it was already written (no ones that great yanno). The reviews were right on...I called and Dennis picked up on the first ring (he did not identify himself as Dennis), he said he could come out now and it all seemed too quick and easy making me nervous enough that I forgot to ask for an estimate by phone. Dennis said he would be here in 20 minutes, and arrived about 20 minutes later calling to confirm he was at the right address. He wasn't very personable, but was definitely about the job which worked for me. (I asked him his name and gave him mine as he was working to make it more personable) He told me the whole lock would have to be replaced and that the lock was expensive and interconnecting. He changed the lock in about 10 minutes telling me it would be 90. I'm very grateful for the service and would recommend them. One thing I want offered and didn't even ask for was a receipt, and he took the expensive lock. I do have his cell number and we communicated via text and he apologized. I will be going by the business to get a receipt and grab that expensive lock he took with him tomorrow to make sure I'm not charged for anything by the homeowners. My boss was quoted $45 just to program a 2017 Dodge Ram key fob. When he called back the company changed the price to $80. He still needed the service so I drove his truck to the business. After 5 minutes of programming the key fob WE provided, the guy says it's going to be $120. I wasn't involved with the original conversation about the price so I gave him $100 because that's all I had on me. Then I had to drive to an ATM to get another $20 bucks. I told my boss the story and he called the guy. The guy apologized and said " I didn't know it was you" he also said he would give us or $40 back. Be careful with this company. Didn't replaced the part, but charged us $100 cash only. Several days later, it got jammed again. We called Dennis, hoping he could look at it without charging us again. The general attitude of the man who comes by is dismissive and appears to want to leave as soon as possible. During our first interaction, I figured he might be having a bad day so I let it go, but the second interaction was much of the same. Frankly, I'm surprised that anyone would say he was friendly. The most important part: the physical key he made did not work and refused to refund me, even a partial. His words were, "no locksmith anywhere will guarantee the key will work." So he kept my money, waved his hand and told me to buy a new key. TL;DR Not only was his attitude unprofessional and disrespectful, he didn't get the job done and refused to do anything to help the situation. Unfortunately, low marks all around. I have never used a locksmith before until today. My front door lock has been acting up: hard to turn, seems to be jamming, not retracting all the way, etc. It's been like that for a few months now and I had been putting it off since I wasn't sure what needs to be done (a new lock?).. Anyway, I don't know much about locks and so I called this place and the gentleman answered right away. I explained the situation and he said he would be able to stop by to look at it. I was happy since it was a Saturday and it was stuck even more the night before so now, I am motivated to get it fix ASAP. Two hours later, he came by and looked at my lock and knew instantly what needs to be done (needed to re-key it). He quickly went to work. Upon completion, I asked if he would also put a peep hole in for me since I didn't have one. He checked his inventory and had one available and went right on and installed it for me. He didn't charge me that much more (on top of the original job) so I was very grateful. Overall, he was very profession, friendly, politie, seem honest and even helped me cleaned up. He made the experience pleasant and positive and the charges were reasonable so I was very happy. I defintely would call him again for future lock needs. He showed up after 30 minutes and parked in the driveway after I asked him not to because the driveway belongs to the residents in front of my house. He spent about 10 minutes trying to unlock the door and couldn't unlock the door. He was able to reach the door latch and turn the knob. I would have done this on my own if I had the tools.
