Called this place because they are local and I was told that will take them 30-40 mins to get there and $30 for service fees. They came in a family van 1:50mins and glanced at my lock for 1 min and said they have to destroy my lock which I already told them I don't want that to happen. Worst service I've ever experienced. They had a tech come out and he walked off the job. Said he had other jobs to go to and couldn't finish. Left the lock hanging from the door...I had to call them to get another tech out and they never sent anyone and no one called me!! I can't believe they run a business like this. Extremely unprofessional. Lock smith didn't seem to know what he was doing either. Finally found another tech with a different company and he was shocked at the work their tech even did! Avoid!!!!! I was testing it today and it appears that he installed my key entry upside down? I was confused during the time of installation and until my roommate came back and told me what happened I had no idea. For what I paid I expect a resolution. I had 2 locks rekeyed, front door and storage room. The technician was friendly and did his work quickly but he was 45 minutes late to our appointment. He didn't even call me in advanced to let me know he was late. I waited 10 minutes after the appointed time then called Primary Locksmith to check the status of the technician meeting me and that's how I learned he was running late. The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars rather than 5 is because the price I was quoted on Yelp Messenger and over the phone ($20-55 per lock) was different than than the price the technician attempted to charge me ($325). When I was shocked at the difference in price he said that the type of locks I had changed is more expensive than the average lock. When I scheduled the appointment I told the person over the phone it was a lock to a front door and storage room. I showed the message I received on Yelp to the Technician and he kindly reduced the price to $150. I appreciate him meeting me in the middle for price given the difference between the quote and what he wanted to charge me. Then he gave me a free copy of the key which was a good way to end an angry encounter. read more

I called Primary Locksmith to schedule re-keying of several doors. I was told someone would call me to set up an appointment, and that occurred. Given the age of the locks, he suggested and I agreed to just replace the locks. After installing them and stating he was finished, I tried the new locks and noticed one of the deadbolts could not be latched at all. Wondering did he even try these out himself? He fixed this (or so I thought; later realized it's still a little flaky getting it to throw into the frame). Another doorknob he installed was rubbing a lot on the strikeplate, so I asked for that to be fixed. At first he said it couldn't be improved due to something related to the door hinges and the house settling. I persisted, and he was able to make it work better. Then I noticed that he had not installed the new strikeplates with the doorknobs that I'd paid for, so I asked him to do that, which he did. A day or two later I realized yet a different doorknob was not latching into the strike plate, and the backdoor deadbolt was still flaky. They came out after a few days to address these. Ultimately I'm satisfied with the results, but wasn't thrilled with the amount of oversight and re-work. read more

ME: Is there any way to give me estimate with the info I provided? PRIMARY: estimate only the two bedroom locks $125.00 ME: Will the $29.00 go towards the work if I decided to have work done? PRIMARY: Yes Moe arrived same day (I wasn't pressing to have same day service). ME: Is it possible to make one master key for all the locks (5 doors)? MOE: Yes $25.00 a lock ME: Oh wow MOE: How about you just do the outside door locks that would only be $75.00 ME: I guess OK MOE: quoted me $650.00 ME: Om my god! I did not expect the cost to be that much. MOE: OK I will deduct my labor cost -$70.00. So $580.00 I have never used a locksmith before, so I am very lame when it comes to what questions to ask. But Moe should be the professional, and let me know and make suggestions, Right? I really needed to get to my things in my dresser and cabinet, so I told Moe go ahead Moe went to is van and got his tools. Came in and started with the bedroom door locks. I sat in the living room sofa while I heard drilling down the hallway. After a while it got quite, so I went to check on him. He was finished with installing the bedroom door locks, and was working on my dresser as I entered the room: MOE: I already opened your file cabinet. ME: (I was a little concerned that he opened file cabinet with me not being present) I did not complain, I was just concerned. I continued to watch Moe work at opening the dresser. Just a few extra holes with the drill and some scratches, but he got he it opened. He originally said he could put another lock back on the dresser, but that didn't happen, I was just happy he got my drawer opened, after seeing how difficult it was. I cannot remember if Moe then went to repair the metal screen door in the garage or if he did the Sun room door lock. Anyways the Metal door lock was repaired. I had told Moe it just needed the right screws and tightened. Moe went to repair the Sun room door lock, I didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable by standing over his shoulder so I stayed in the living room, sitting on the sofa. When Moe was finished in the Sun room, he came and asked me for key to the front door and key to the sun room. I didn't have key to metal screen door. He then took the lock off the front door then went to his truck. He was out there for a good while. MOE: Here are the old keys ME: What do you mean old keys? MOE: they will not work anymore you have master key now Me: Oh I did not know that front door original key would not work anymore? You did not explain that to me? We have an issue now? I need the house key to open the front door. I have several other people with same keys. MOE: Yes that is an issue; you should have clarified all that with me. ME: No, you should have explained that to me, I am the customer and you are the professional. Can you reverse so that the original key would work again? MOE: Yes I can. ME: Are you going to charge me for this? MOE: No He removes the front door lock a 2nd time and goes out to van. While he's out in his van, I go try the key new key to the sun room. The first thing I notice is that the top lock has not been repaired but replaced. OK new lock but it was a different color than the bottom? Also now you have to either give it an extra pull or push on door to lock the new top lock. I was thinking because it's a new lock and that that it has to be broken in. So I didn't mention anything at that time. Moe got done with the front door. I took my house key and stuck it in the door and it turn to lock position ok. (I should have shut the door and tried to lock and open it that way) But I didn't. Moe was done and was ready to collect his fee. Earlier on I did ask him if I paid him in cash if he would give me more of a discount and he said no. So I pulled my checkbook out and he said no only credit or debit card. You would think a professional would have explained that before he began the work. So he was lucky I had cash. Wow. Wonderful. Reuben was a tad late but that was expected ( and he called ahead ), as he had a long drive and the traffic is always brutal. He was courteous, cheerful and very efficient! There is something seriously Dirty about these guys. I needed a locksmith to recode a key to a customer car. I looked on Google for local Locksmiths and saw the 5-Star rating these Guys had. I called the number and spoke to a message service who said they had no physical address and could only come to my location. I thought it odd that there was no physical location i could bring the lock to. Two young men showed up in a van that Had "Rex Lock and Key" painted on the side which i also thought was strange but thought perhaps Rex had sold the business to them. I explained what i needed done and the climbed into their van to look at the lock cylinder. I checked back later and they had begun working on the lock. I asked what this was going to cost and he said he would need to call his boss. I returned again later and asked him what the estimate was and he said there was a service call charge of $69 to come to my location and the recoding would be $348. I told him that was ridiculous and this fee was normally in the $65 to $85 range. He assured me he would talk to his boss about lowering the price. I thought nothing of it as i had this key recoding service done many times with other Locksmiths. Later they come to me and presented me with a paper invoice with no fee amount on it under the name "Red Rocks Locksmith". Who the heck were these Guys. Primary Locksmith to Rex Lock and Key and now to Red Rocks Locksmith. He asked me to put name and address on the invoice and sign it. I asked him why would i sign a blank invoice? He said after i signed he would fill out the dollar amount. He then writes in $348 stating that his boss said he would waive the service call fee only. This happened in my office and it became very awkward as i had an important client at my desk. I told him they were charging 4 times what any reputable locksmith would charge. His excuse was his boss makes all of those decisions about what to charge and he has no control over it. These guys are clearly scam artists. They are not forthright and up front about providing estimates. The invoice i got from them gave a website of "redrockslocksmith.com" which does not exist. Do not give these thieves the chance to get into your pocket. They are irreputable and they are liars and thieves. Do not give these animals the opportunity to cheat you. They will take advantage of your kindness! read more
