Waiting for the owner to show up

Highly recommend this place!! Ask for Junior (the owner's son)!! One set of my Honda Odyssey keys and fobs got stolen from my house! I went to honda dealer for a solution to prevent my car from being stolen by the thief. The guy told me I would need to change the tumblers of the door lock and ignition. And it's going to take more than a month to get the parts cuz it's on back order. The quote of the service was around $1200. He suggested me to try a locksmith if I couldn't wait that long. He told me about this shop! I called and talked to the owner Raj. Made an appointment for this morning. And in the meantime, calling more than 10 other locksmiths, but most of them couldn't provide the service I need. They make keys and fobs, can't deal with car locks or tumblers. This morning, Junior, son of the owner, helped me to simply reprogram my still owned key and fob with his computer. Also made me a new set of key and fob! The price I paid was incredible!!Junior, you are a genius with a beautiful heart!! It's a blessed day because of you!!

Follow Hank Hill's advice: "If it's a father and son company, request the father." First time I came here was easy enough, I had lost my keys to a 98 and 03 Subaru and the owner was able to copy my spares onto other generic key slabs he had in less than 5 minutes, no problem. I wanted original keys so I ordered OEM key slabs and came back to copy onto those, and this time it was a younger guy, I guess the son. I showed up the two slabs that I had and the keys I wanted copied onto them, and so he accepted them and did not express that there would be an issues before he began. It felt like a very long time, maybe 5-10 minutes for him to set up the machine before cutting the first key. After the first key was cut, he took it off and put it to the bench grinder, but then had to put it back on the vice to cut the same key again. That should have been a red flag, but I usually give people benefit of the doubt. After the first key, he processed the second key the same way, having to put it back in the cutting machine a second time. So I get back they keys and the first key, to my '98 ended up rough and frayed along one edge (which I couldn't try at the time because the car wasn't there, but I would find later, I couldn't even fit into my key hole due to the rough edge making the key too thick) and the '03 key was uneven and missing a chunk of metal near the base. He asked me to try my '03 Subaru key since I had driven there with it and with a only a bit of luck was I able to turn it after 10-15 wiggles. I told him it was definitely difficult compared to the original key and took that many turns to make it work, but he was like "It did work though, didn't it?" I mean yeah, but only by luck and no one would find that acceptable. He then tried to explain that I need to go to the dealer and provide my VIN to get the key codes for my cars because actually, he couldn't copy onto my slabs since they were not brass like the key slabs they provide, and he could have copied if I had the key code instead so he could do it on the other machine. Me: "...So you're saying on your machine that you just cut a key from the copy, it wasn't able to cut this kind of metal?" Him: "Exactly." Me: "But if I had the key code, you'd be able to cut it on the other machine that can do it from a code?" Him: "Yeah." Me: "So you're saying that other machine can cut this type of metal but only can do it from code and not physical key copies?" Him: "Actually it can't cut that metal either." WHAT!? Then he said he knew he shouldn't have accepted the slabs, and the was like, "live and learn, right?", okay, yeah that's life, but if he had so much trouble on the first key then why'd he proceed to try the second one. Then after a few seconds of silence, I was waiting for him to offer me something like a replacement, but he didn't say anything so I was like, "So, are you going to offer me the brass key then?" and then he was like "Yeah sure, better than nothing right?". I let him just do one key, the '03 and he was able to copy in less than a minute, and of course it works fine. "Next time when you buy online check if it's an OEM key". Like what does OEM have anything to do with it!?! It was OEM by the way, but it's the OEM key that you can't cut because it's the stronger metal, and yours is the generic key that you can!!! Perhaps this next part was my fault because I never asked about the price before letting him finish the brass key that actually worked, but he rung me up for the labor of the two keys he messed up plus the 3rd key that actually worked. I assumed he would have done the bare minimum customer service, which was not charge me for the first two messed up keys because he lost none of his own material for that and I'm out $13 each of my own provided slabs. And now all dumb things he was saying before make sense: He was trying to push accountability to the customer instead of accepting guilt by saying it was me who didn't have the code, me who bought the wrong key online, and asking me saying the key works even though it takes a few tries, so now he can somehow justify charging me. Unfortunately I am not a confrontational guy and I didn't know how to react since I've never encountered such horrible customer service in my life, and the guy's eyes looked a bit red and watery like he was about to cry. And then in an attempt at making himself feel like he cares about his customer I guess, tries to make small talk be asking, "Where are you from?", to which I respond, "Here, Hayward". Then a "No, like what's your family heritage?". Needs to learn small talk skills too, asking out of nowhere about my ethnicity in a way that a 7 year old would have asked just felt inappropriate after the horrible service I received. In total, wasted 30+ minutes of my life and $26 worth of my own key slabs and $10 labor for him to destroy them.
