I called quite a few locksmiths to do a small job for us, and many quoted much more over the phone than Dennis did. He was very straight forward and seemed fair in his pricing. He gave me an amount immediately, and came over the very next day. While the cost was more once he came out and looked at the job, it seemed very fair, and still far less than the other people quoted on the phone (chances are their estimates would have also been more once they arrived!). He did leave for an extended period in the middle of the job, but it wasn't a big deal, as we were around the house. In addition, he was very friendly and helped answer any questions that I had (which ended up being a lot). I have a Medeco lock which can be a pain for a lot of locksmiths. Mario was the technician who came out. I got locked out at 8pm on a friday night from my house so it was great that Mario arrived in 30mins from my call. He was also very friendly and nice. He made me a couple of spare keys with no additional charge. However, the flat rate charge is too high in my opinion. I paid $105. I would have given 5 stars if the price were a little better. I found Dennis on here and am very pleased with the work he did. I got a next-day appt. for him to re-key the locks on the house I bought recently. He worked quickly and managed to change two locks and re-key nine locks in a bit over an hour which was faster than the estimate he gave me over the phone. He didn't charge me for labor which runs I think $60/hour and said that's what he usually does for yelp clients. Pretty sure in my case that cam out to be around 25% off. The whole thing did turn out to be more expensive than I thought it would, but I'm stoked to now have one key work on every lock rather than three different keys for various doors. One minor thing was that he left doors open several times and it was chilly out. I was glad I'd managed to corral my cats when he first arrived. Not a huge deal but something to be aware of, esp. if you have pets or little kids. read more

So I asked him "what exactly are you doing?" And " how much do you charge to do that?" He replied "65$." I thought it was a bit steep. But I needed his help. NO CALL NO SHOW! I called this place on a recommendation from another locksmith, I told him I needed a car key re-cut for since I lost mine and that I was in San Francisco. He quoted 1 hour and $120 to come out (extra $20 to come to SFO). Its now almost 5 hours later and they haven't arrived or called. I bought a new condo and unfortunately the mailbox key is nowhere to be found.
