I liked the barbecue better than the low country because it was already salty and then they added way too much bacon to it. I get it now! I was very leery about how good this place could be. After all, I've lived in the neighborhood for 20 years and there has never been a wonderful restaurant in this entire area. Well, here it is! A business that cares about food and the customers! I was greeted immediately by a very professional and friendly hostess. Umm? This is rare. A yummy restaurant with southern flare. My husband and I have wanted to try Localz for a while and finally stopped in last weekend. The salmon was cooked really well and the asparagus was delicious! I had never had grits before but love goat cheese so I decided to give jt a try. The goat cheese grits was good but had an overwhelming goat cheese flavor. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for someone who isn't in love with goat cheese! My husband had the burger and said it was a solid burger but not the best he's ever had. I am a chef. I am also totally appalled at the food myself and a friend had tonight/Tuesday December 10th. I can't believe you have repeat customers. They obviously don't know what a four or five star meal really is! The ceviche is like a bottle of cheap salsa. My friend had the half spinach salad. It was like grabbing a hand full of spinach out of a box or package. The stems weren't even removed. I had the Ahi. It was over cooked. The bed of vegies was over cooked to the point of being burned. I was totally blown away at how long it took to get such a lousy meal. You really need to get a real recipe for your fake ceviche, it SUCKS! I wouldn't feed the over cooked fish to my cat! Lovely ambiance and absolutely DELICIOUS food. Their staff is always incredibly friendly and the service is quick. I usually get the superfood greens & grains or the chefs chicken sandwich. The truffle fries with the garlic aioli are also a must. My boyfriend LOVES the steak sandwich. It also has a full bar! Would definitely recommend for locals and especially people visiting Utah who want a true awesome local experience versus a chain restaurant. It's a husband wife and we've had their son Kai as our server a few times. He's great. We also love Shevaun. Service is on point and the food is BOMB. We always get the Asian Wings appetizer and sometimes we order another round. Fish Tacos and Orange soup are both great and the pasta is house made. If you don't try the chocolate chili moose pie, you're missing out. I'm kind of a food snob and I love this spot for causal and date night dining. They make great drinks too. The Orange tomato soup is delicious and different than your typical tomato soup with that hint of orange in it. Tonight I got the vegan sandwich and it was full of flavor! So pleasantly surprised! Locally owned, casual atmosphere. Got yummy beautiful fish taco starters, a really juicy burger with a large pile amazing truffle fries and aioli dip. The ahi Tuna melt, (looked like a grilled cheese on delivery but tasted amazing) and a cup of soup. I eat out a lot and I'm really picky about flavors and presentation and everything was great. We had the buffalo wings and truffle frites as appetizers. Both were amazing. It was just me and my husband and they were still gone in an instant. I got the Cajun chicken fettuccine and my husband got the steak sandwich. He thought it was good. I liked the fettuccine good enough but it isn't anything to write home about. The food came out quick, especially the appetizers which I appreciated. Overall, the food was very good but a bit overpriced. We at at Localz Bistro. We had the fried cheese curds for an appetizer. I had the fish and chips which was the special that day and my wife had the steak salad. The cheese curds were good nice and gooey. The fish and chips was ok it was a bit soggy in a couple spots with the fish and chips I had the Parmesan and truffle fries they would have been good but they were way over salted I like salty things but it was too darn much. My wife liked the steak salad she said that the steak was cooked perfectly. We went on a Friday night it was busy and the patio was open be there wasn't a wait when we got there. Localz absolutely blew my expectations out of the park. I am so glad I finally decided to visit. I am not gonna lie, the picture of the poutine is what brought me to Localz. I don't even like poutine THAT much but I love fries and a few of their reviews mentioned how great the fries were. Upon arrival, the place was a bit difficult to get to. I passed two sets of doors that said "use the other door" and had an arrow pointing to the right. It didn't bother me and I understand why they did it; I just thought it was kinda funny. It was like some kind of escape room but instead of trying to escape the room, I am simply trying to get into the room. I was seated immediately and I thought the girl at the front was extremely nice. She immediately greeted me with a smile and was super quick to come say hello. I am also pretty sure she is the same one that was my server but I wasn't paying good enough attention. I was a bit torn on what to get. I saw they had different sandwiches and a wrap but I was in like a turkey/ham/grilled chicken sandwich mood and they didn't really seem to have anything like that. I eyeballed the chicken caesar wrap for a while but it didn't appeal to me enough. So finally I decided on the burger with truffle fries. I thought about just getting regular fries but the server made the truffle fries sound so good. They came with garlic, salt, parmesan and a side of aioli. Once my food came, I was soooooo glad I chose the truffle fries. I could've eaten them all on their own. They were so flavorful and the sauce that came with them was great! The burger was super good too! I loved the bun that it was on and I felt that it was cooked just right. I also got a side of ranch and thought their ranch was pretty good. The aioli and the ranch were honestly a tie though--not because the ranch was less good but because that aioli was a home run and a half. I ended up needing a little box but I was even more impressed that the server gave me more ranch and aioli to go! What a nice little gesture. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great and I liked that it wasn't super busy and loud when I was in there. They also have a small amount of bar seating and potentially patio seating ( I saw it outside but I am not sure if it is part of their restaurant or if they ever open it up for people). We have been going to Localz since they opened. Over the past few months they have started to decline. The service is always great but the back of house seems to be struggling, especially on takeout orders. Last evenings burger came without any lettuce, tomato or dill pickle. No dipping sauce for frites. The ribeye sandwich came without Demi glacé dipping sauce and ribeye was so fatty you couldn't eat half of it. Side note. Someone was returning their to go order while I was picking mine up! Overpriced and underwhelming. Not one dish was memorable. Cold poutine. Cheese was still in cold cubes. "Medium" cooked steak was grey and dry. White rice was unpalatable, not even sure how that is possible. Ceviche was made with cooked shrimp and a lot of aioli, so it was a weird shrimp salad. Best thing we got was the shrimp po-boy...it was ok. No body was able to get through half of their dish, and not due to portions.
