We had the best experience at Local's Tasting Room! Zachary was amazing. I emailed him to ask for recommendations before even coming to the tasting room and he gave me so many food and wine recommendations just because he is a truly kind person. Then we went to the tasting room and had the best time trying different wines and hearing his recommendations. We all ended up buying several bottles. The prices the are very reasonable and tastings are free! It's such an amazing carefree place to hang out and the music is great too. I am beyond delighted we found this gem of a place (first came in 2021 and now back!)

Great experience with quick education on variety of options. Gave real insight to products and companies behind them. Will be back.

When you first enter the Locals Tasting Room, Patrick and Dick are there to meet you and say hi. Dick is actually a wine producer and has lots of fun stories to share. Both of these gentlemen were welcoming, kind, gracious, and full of great information. They didn't charge for any of the wine we tasted, which was probably about 8 or 9 varieties. There were four of us adults. I did buy a bit more wine then I would normally, as I felt I wanted to contribute back to their business for all the free tasting they provided us. The establishment was clean, neat, but basic. But that's ok, because the experience was about the wine and learning all about the processes and different grapes used to make each one. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend trying this place out.

You can literally taste every wine in their tasting room..for free, but that's like over 60 wines, I'm sure you could get into a lot of trouble here doing that. They also have other non-wine things to purchase as well. While we were tasting there, one of the winemakers was coming in to drop of a delivery and he was so sweet and had us try his wine and signed a bottle for us!

Locals offer several local wineries wines. I didn't find anything spectacular to purchase. But I did like the wide range of varietals offered.

Appreciate the new outdoor wine tasting area. Glad to see you all open! Some greenery and garden like additions would be welcome. We Enjoyed ourselves!

Tired of paying all those excessive tasting fees to get a measly 4 or 5 pours of Dry Creek Valley wine? Looking for a spot to taste wine before walking (unsteadily, perhaps) a few steps away to order wood-fired pizza, halibut fish tacos, pasta fazool, and house-cured meats? Ever want the wines to come to YOU, rather than the other way around? If you answered "yes" to any of those things, then Locals Tasting Room is totally right for you. It is probably the best wine country tasting room of its type that I've ever encountered in all of California, with not only some of the most interesting local wines. but also a complimentary pour policy that makes it possible for each and every member of your party to personalize their tastings to their specific preferences. But how, you might ask, does one choose? There are basically three ways to play it: (1) The "Vaya con Dios" shotgun style method: close your eyes, grab a pencil, and point at the printed, 2-page tasting menu (front and back, nearly 65 choices!). Once you've reached 4,5,6, or 7 pours, stop! After sampling them all, pick some of your favorites to take home and don't forget to thank the wine tasting gods for their beneficence. (2) The "college kid" test prep method: download the tasting menu ahead of time from the LTR website. Do research on the wineries. Make a list the night before. Stick to your choices, even if tempted to wander. If you did your research well, you'll discover a few really good bottles to buy. (3) The "horizontal mambo" method: pick a preferred grape varietal, or wine style (Rhone blends, sparkling, oaked whites, 15%+ alcohol, etc.) and try wines across the spectrum of winemakers. 4 Pinots. 5 Zins. 6 Chardonnays. If you have enough friends with you, and it's close to the winter holidays, you could even sing the "12 Nights of Christmas" with wines substituting for all those birds, barnyard animals, leaping lords, and golden rings. (Eg. "Fiiiiiive Pinot Noirs ... four Alexander Cabs, three French blends, two sparkling wines, and more 'Struttin White' in my empty glaaaaass ..."). Have fun with it. It's not the MCAT®. Truth be told, I sampled from a little of all three methods (but I kept my singing to myself). I chose three wineries of interest - Arbios/Praxis, Pendleton, and Peterson - and also saved room for a 3-flight tasting of Petite Sirahs. I also stole a few sips from a friend who was trying the Kitfox blends (Mattress Police, One Time Spaceman, Voodoo Vixen). With names like that, how could one not? While there was no consensus winner here, we weren't picking a President, and none of us were named Robert Parker, so there was no need to reach a majority or assign 90+ scores. I liked the Praxis wines a lot, esp. their rare bottling of 2012 Central Coast Lagrein (an Italian red variety from Alto Adige, genetically related to Teroldego, Pinot Noir, and Syrah). It was superb, like an Austrian Zweigelt, with perhaps a little more black fruit and wet earth and a bit less spice. So, too, the Praxis 2015 rosé of Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast, a lively pink, rose-petal of a wine with some intensity that will compliment autumn vegetable dishes like kabocha squash soup. Rosés like this are not just for summer sipping anymore! My other favorites were made by Pendleton, especially their Alexander Valley estate Petite Sirah and Mourvèdre. The elevation of their vineyards is 2000 feet above the valley floor, so this tempers the fierce heat in summer and results I think in more complex, earthier, mineral-driven wines where the rich fruit has something to play off against, making it less jammy and pulpy than lower-elevation Alexander Valley fruit. There are no Costco or Trader Joe's wines here that you can pick up for less than $12. Most are fairly priced in the $20-35 range with reserve wines and Cabs and some Pinots pushing into $50 territory. Staff here provide snacks to accompany the tastings, also complimentary: sliced Columbus dry salami, chips and dip, crackers. Just enough to hold you over until lunch at Diavola, right next door. How could your average Sonoma County wine taster be unhappy about any of that? Note: there is also a lovely $5 used book shelf to the left of the tasting bar where you can pick up some good reading if you're staying here for a few nights, plus gifts and clothing for sale. The vibe is laid-back, but passionate. These folks like to share their wines, and it shows!

I don't normally drink wine but came for the olive oil and the experience and it did not disappoint! I also eventually changed my mind that red wine can be good:) We were seated indoors and Edd gave us the rundown of what we'd be tasting for the afternoon complete with stories and lots of fun facts. (I now look at any bottles that say "cold pressed" with some light skepticism since it's clearly only written there for marketing purposes!) We ordered a selection of the panini sandwiches, the burrata and butternut squash salad, and the charcuterie board. The fire cheese was delicious and the spread was perfect. Throughout lunch, Edd brought us different wines to taste and by the end we were most definitely sold on the Stone Soup (the red version). The olive oil tasting was so much fun. First of all the bread was so delicious. And then we tasted about 15 (?) different olive oils or vinegars. The raspberry, lemon, and garlic ones were clear favorites. My personal favorites were the garlic and sage. Even though it was a bit of a rainy & cloudy day, the views from the patio were beautiful. We finished our wine out by the fire pit outside, and now I really need to come back during the summertime when the skies are more clear for the full experience. I left with lots of olive oil and great Christmas gifts for the family. The four piece olive oil sets are perfect for that and I brought one home for my family and we did our own inspired mini taste testing (I still miss Trattore's bread tho). 10/10 recommend and yes I definitely want to come back for the summer views and this pizza oven I keep reading in all the other reviews:))

The restaurant is the building to the left as you enter as well as the museum. We ordered the 3 course menu with wine pairing for what I thought was a great price. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the wine pairings. The crab fritter with caviar: 3.5 stars. It was a fried potato ball with minimal crab. The caviar and accompanying sauce is what made the dish. The mushroom risotto: 3 stars. Perhaps it's because I don't care for risotto - too moist for rice. However the flavor was good, albeit a little salty. The mushroom were cooked for perfection and delicious, wish I had more. The salmon with broccolini:3 stars. cooked to order. I like mine well done due to preventions of parasites. But it was still moist. The accompanying sauce did not help flavor much but I guess I could have put more salt. I really enjoy the veggies in the dish. The broccolini was cooked the way I like and the rings of squash were tender and sweet. The hubby got the beef shoulder for his third course:5 stars. Tender and falls apart much like a pot roast. Flavorful as well. Apple tart and ice cream: 4 stars. I actually enjoyed the dish. Not too sweet. You can taste all the flavors and texture. Over all we had a great time with the wine, food was accompaniment. The museum was fun to stroll thru as well.

A tasting worth the drive -- and one we'll remember for years…read more We first met the Mercury team at a recent event in Sausalito and could immediately tell they were offering more than just wine -- there was artistry and playfulness behind every pour. We knew we had to experience their tasting room in Geyserville, and it did not disappoint. In fact, it was the best tasting we've had since 2012 -- hands down. The Vibe The moment we walked into the tasting room, we felt completely welcomed. The energy was light, engaging, and genuine. This wasn't your typical stiff, scripted tasting -- it felt more like visiting a friend who just happens to be incredibly passionate (and knowledgeable) about exceptional wine. You don't just taste here; you connect, laugh, and learn something cool along the way. The Wines Each pour had personality -- creative blends, bold structure, and something memorable in every glass. We ended up taking home a few bottles that are already earmarked for upcoming holiday dinners: 2023 Skins - an orange Chardonnay that stopped us in our tracks. Golden, aromatic, and layered with apricot, pear, and tropical brightness. It's ancient in method but totally modern in vibe -- unlike anything we've had before. 2021 Freddie Rosé - somewhere between a rosé and a light red. Beautiful ruby color, bright cherry, tart quince, and a juicy finish. A standout for its structure and fun factor. 2021 Syrah (Pigoni Vineyard) - deep, rich, and elegant. Cherries, vanilla, and a touch of cocoa. Smooth from start to finish -- the kind of Syrah that feels both grounded and luxurious. 2021 Rocket - a red blend with complexity and finesse. Every sip revealed something new -- cassis, plum, dark cherry. A fantastic wine for a slow evening and good conversation. 2021 Zinfandel (North Coast) - bold and festive, perfect for chilly nights or hearty meals. The kind of Zin that reminds you why the grape got famous in the first place. Each wine told its own story, but together they also reflect the creativity and boldness of the Mercury team. It's not just about making wine -- it's about playing with tradition and making it personal. The Experience This is what tasting should feel like: casual, elevated, and full of joy. You'll laugh, you'll sip, and you'll probably linger longer than you planned. We're already talking about coming back -- not just to try new wines, but to keep this experience going. Because at Mercury, it's not just about what's in the glass -- it's about the people, the energy, and the memories you take with you. Thank you to the whole Mercury team for making our day! We came for the wine and left with so much more.

The food pairings were delicious but we didn't particularly care for most of the wines that we tried. Mercury tasting room in located right in downtown Geyserville. Since Geyserville is so small, it's pretty hard to miss. This place is usually packed with people on busy weekends. The staff in the tasting room were all super welcoming and pleasant. They lead us to their back patio which has a really fun and casual vibe. It's a great place to chill and catch up with friends. Despite how tiny this tasting room looks on the outside, their patio is actually quite spacious. They were pouring wines from their two different wine labels so that everyone could compare the differences in taste. And while both labels did taste different, we weren't really impressed with either. Most of what we tried tasted pretty..... young. Too robust and too tannic. Even when paired with the bites, they still tasted like they needed to age a bit more. The only wine that I liked during the tasting was their Zinfandel, and even that didn't blow me away. Who knows.... It could have just been a bad batch or maybe it was produced from vines that were hit with the smoke from the fires. I really enjoyed the atmosphere but the wines were a bit disappointing. This should really be a 3 star review based off of the wine alone, but since the service and atmosphere was great, I'm bumping it up to a 3.5 aka 4 stars. Although I wasn't too impressed with the wines this time around, I would still come back to try something different on a future visit.

When I tell you that my friend and I were hooked from beginning to end during our tasting, I am not kidding you. Reece was absolutely phenomenal and so was our entire tasting experience at Zialena. After passing by Zialena several times on my trips to DeLorimier, my friend and I finally decided to check them out for a tasting. You know I have to start off with their estate and grounds. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I will always be a fan of classic winery setups, BUT... I LOVED the modernized look of Zialena! The exterior of their building alone is so eye catching and unique. And then you walk inside and think, damn this place is so chic and hip! I love the artwork, I love the stylish tables and chairs with the bright orange seat cushions, I love the youthful and fun atmosphere and vibe. It's just wonderful. Those views! I underestimated how great they'd be because you can't see much from the outside. But once you're sitting on their patio, the views seem to be endless. Countless views of the hills and their beautiful vineyards. It helped that it was a stunning day outside too. Reece set us up on their side patio which was glorious. Now about this wine; fan-freakin-tastic! I loved every single wine that I tried. All were scrumptious. I'll get more into the wines in a bit, but first I'm gonna tell you a little bit about what I learned from Reece. Although the actual tasting room is newish, the winery is a fourth generation run operation by the Mazzoni family. The family hails from Italy and they've been harvesting grapes and producing wine for years. The winery is actually named after their Great Aunt Lena (Zia Lena in Italian). Mark and Lisa (sister and brother) are the owners and they also run the winery. Zialena grows grapes for over 90 different varietals and all of them are estate grown! That's right; those vineyards that surround their property are actually their own. They use whole cluster fermentation to produce their wines which basically means that they ferment the grapes with the stems (the stems aren't removed). This allows for more of an elaborate flavor profile in their wines. They also ferment in concrete with the top open. Never really heard of open top fermentation prior to coming here, but it allows for more oxygen to come in contact which helps with faster yeast production amongst other things. Alright, let me take my geeky wine brain hat off for a second. Reece had us completely engaged during this tasting. I literally started taking notes because it was so much interesting information. But those wines, dear GEEZUS! So, so good. Their unique fermentation techniques really paid off because their wines are so rich and complex. We tasted one welcoming white wine (Sauvignon Blanc) and 4 reds which were all incredible. The Cappella Red Blend was to DIE for and undoubtedly my favorite wine of the bunch. The spices were so pronounced but yet the wine went down oh so smooth. Took a bottle of that and I don't think it even lasted a few days. Reece was so knowledgeable and confident.
