A hidden gem. Amazing people. Epic wine. A must visit. We were treated like family here and will definitely be back.

Stuhlmuller Vineyards is located on the southern border of Alexander Valley- to the adjacent north of the Russian River Valley appellation, and to the adjacent northwest of Chalk Hill. Their riverside Chardonnay vineyards benefit from the cool morning fog of the Russian River. The Cabernet is grown on the slopes off the river. The Stuhlmuller's bought the vineyards in the 1980's and operated the property solely as vineyards until 2000, when their son Fritz achieved the dream of establishing an estate winery on the property. The style is rich and crisp, cool climate Chardonnay; and approach-ably bold and balanced Cabernet. It's a great little spot in the middle of the vineyards- in a tucked away part of Alexander Valley. The modest tasting room looks into the winery. We were treated very well by Fritz and his staff. As for the wines, their estate Chardonnays are great. Very balanced with only partial oak aging and malo- well priced too. Killer estate Cabs too- very balanced with good depth, lush fruit, and very approachable.

***3.5 Stars***…read more Beautiful grounds with a gorgeous tasting room! Medlock Ames definitely impresses when it comes to their estate. Their tasting room is located right in the heart of Alexander Valley and is surrounded by lush and vibrant gardens. They have an adorable patio space with great views of both their gardens and vineyards. Their indoor tasting room is so hip and chic. It features a center tasting bar that is surrounded by beautiful artwork and a backwall that showcases their wine cellar. My friend and I came here for a tasting and we had a very pleasant time. Laura was our host and she was really sweet and very knowledgeable about the wines that she poured. She told us about the history of the winery and how it began. It was neat to learn that Medlock Ames was started by two college buddies while they went to school in NYC. Most of their grapes from their wines are sourced from their own vineyards in Bell Mountain. The majority of the wines that are produced here are small lot and limited production. Tastings are $45 and available by reservation only. Although I enjoyed the atmosphere here, I wasn't blown away by any of their wines. My friend is a big fan of their sauvignon blanc and I'll admit that it's tasty and probably their signature wine. It was odd that it wasn't featured on their tasting list, but Laura was nice enough to pour it for us anyways. I'm not usually a fan of merlot, but I actually enjoyed their Jefferson Clone Merlot the best out of all the wines that we tried. I just felt that wines were overpriced for the quality, but it could have just been that my palate didn't align with these particular wines. Despite this, I would still come back again to try more of their wines. Hopefully, I'll find something that I truly like here in the future.

We chose to drop in Marine Layer Wines. The tasting room is located in a very nice area in beautiful downtown Healdsburg across Healdsburg square. The vibe was inviting and family friendly. There was a cozy fireplace in the front as well. We ordered a glass of Lyra Pinot Noir and a glass of Aries Chardonnay. My Pinot Noir was smooth while the wifey's Chardonnay was crisp and refreshing. The wine was great quality. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Marine Layer Wines. The staff was nice and helpful.
