I'm not a wine expert but I had a very enjoyable visit at Silver Oak Healdsburg. Callie our wine ambassador was so kind, knowledgeable and friendly. Although I do not know a thing about wine she took her time to explain each wine we were tasting and made the experience special. The winery itself is so beautiful and with the big open windows it was nice to enjoy the sun setting over the vineyard. I would recommend it is a worthy stop if you're staying in Healdsburg.

My BF is a member so she took me here for tasting! It's absolutely beautiful here! They are friendly and very knowledgeable! I'm not a wine drinker and learning about it.

The wine speaks for itself and is top quality. I especially like their Alexander Valley varietal's. This Sunday I had a very awkward and uncomfortable experience while at Silver Oak for their bar tasting. I'm a long time fan and have several bottles and have come for a paid seated tasting previously. Currently Silver Oak is participating in A Taste of Alexander Valley which hosts you for free at their bar. There is a welcome pour of Chardonnay and then two Cabernets one from Alexander Valley and one from Napa Valley. When I go to these complimentary tasting around the area I usually always buy at least one bottle and tip. My daughter & I were planning on buying the $100 Alexander Valley bottle which we tasted until things went sideways. The couple next to us were also in for the deal and got rung up for the tasting, so they were confused and let the staff know they were there for the complimentary tasting. The staff was rude about it and telling them they should have stated that in the beginning. From there it turned to the staff talking about us being locals and we hadn't said anything either. Once I overheard what was being said I spoke up and told them I was there for the complimentary tasting as well. At that point the niceties went away and I honestly felt dismissed. Now Silver Oak is a top winery and I don't think any bottles are under $100, but the staff should not have treated anyone differently. As a local it's crazy to me I received that treatment as I routinely recommend wineries and frequently visit. Management really should look at how this program is being carried out if this was to try to get business in the door, my opinion a fail. Just unfortunate. I left a tip and won't be back.

A modern design wine tasting room with warm and knowledgeable staff waiting for you in the reception area. The Silver oak Cabernet Sauvignon, which what they are famous for, is top tier wine and each bottle is a statement in every gathering. I arrived around 11:30 am and welcomed by a very welcoming host. I opted to do bar tasting and purchasing two bottles of their vintage wines. The tasting was excellent and packaging and whole buying process was hassle free and pleasant. Inside the winery is spacious and they can accommodate large groups for wine tasting. If you are visiting don't forget to visit the wine bank. There are ample parking spaces with electric car chargers. Parking is in walking distance from tasting room.

We had an unexpected stop at Silver Oak in Healdsburg. I am so glad we were able to come here. That's one of the advantages of coming during the off season... You miss the crowds. We loved the sleak and clean look of this modern style tasting room. The shop is set up so well to be big and airy with the bold Silver Oak look of silver and black. It was a nice-comfortable place to relax and taste the amazing wines at Silver Oak. Everyone there is just so nice. after the first pour they took us into the library. That was quite an experience especially with that large block right in the center of the room. The use of the back and sliver tops to spell out Silver Oak was brilliant. Silver Oak will always hold a special spot in my heart as it was one of the first higher end wines of Napa that we drank on a regular basis. I fell in love with the wine the moment it touched my lips. So rich and flavorful with an amazing start and finish. As always, I look forward back to Napa (will be sooner than later) to return to the tasting room in the Valley. KUDOs to the team at Silver Oak - Healdsburg

We stopped in while in the area and we were treated so good. The service was great and the Vineyard was beautiful. We got to go in the cellar room that was Awsome! When you take a picture of the bottles a surprise appears. The wine was yummy too. We tasted the Napa and Alexander Valley, several vintages and it was all supper good. Glad we stopped. Will be back for sure

This winery is just stunning. From the moment you drive up you are drawn to the beautiful architecture and reflecting pools. The wine is absolutely delicious and each pour was very generous. Everyone is very attentive but not obtrusive. You are free to wonder amongst the vines and check out their herb and vegetable garden. So relaxing and not to be missed.

Very modern tasting room with minimalist and sleek look. The winery is spacious and you can room around freely. The wine tasting is at $30 per person which makes it really accessible. Service was very personable. The staff pour generous portion and of course the wine was delicious. I loved the modern design and architecture as well.

Tasting menu: 2 twoemy Pinot Noirs and 2 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon. Outdoor patio seating.

Worth the haul. The vineyard is beautiful and the tasting room is modern and airy. The definition of California Vibes. If you're a Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon fan, this is the place to go. We were able to taste both Alexander and Napa Valley cabs here and it was nice to taste side by side. They offer bread sticks with the tasting but if you want additional snacks they have prepackaged charcuterie/cheese options and other light fare. We sat outside on the patio where we could take in the vineyard and the fresh air. Even though it was a warm outside, sitting on the patio there was plenty of breezeway and regardless of time of day you'll be in the shade. A big plus for us, since it was a long drive, they have EV/Tesla chargers which was such a relief and a great add. There are not Silver Oak membership options but they have other partnering vineyards you can join with some Silver Oak perks. We went home with a magnum of their Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon so I'd say it was a success.

Great hospitality, wines were excellent, property was beautiful. My favorite thing was that they let you roam around the property on your own. There was also a good balance of checking in on us and letting us enjoy the wine on our own. I will definitely be back!

Silver Oak winery has beautiful views, and very pleasant staff. This is one of my favorite wineries in the Napa/Sonoma/Healdsburg area. Overall, this is a beautiful winery with stunning scenery, a very nice modern building, and fantastic, fresh food paired with carefully selected wines. I always recommend this specific location (I've never been to their other location in Napa) whenever friends ask for Napa recommendations. My boyfriend and I came here for a food and wine pairing around 11 am on a Saturday and were pleased to discover that because we chose an early slot, we got the large private room with an incredible view all to ourselves. The experience started with a tour of the gardens behind the winery, where we walked through rows of plants and flowers. We had a tour guide who introduced key plants to us and encouraged us to pick certain plants to try, such as raw stevia and fresh fennel. Like with many wineries in the region, they make their food with almost all ingredients from their own garden and anything they don't grow themselves, they source locally from places nearby in the same valley. We got one bite-sized course while outside after finishing up our tour. We went back inside to continue with our remaining courses, which composed of a wonderful and fresh pasta dish, an absolutely fantastic main course (which I believe was duck though I can't quite remember and I'm sure it changes), and a cheese course that was "dessert", which my boyfriend absolutely loved. He called it the best cheese course he's ever had. The food was fresh, beautifully presented, and carefully explained to us by the chefs who came out to serve us themselves. The wine pairings were also explained very thoroughly with each course. Even though I discovered that I'm not the biggest fan of Alexander Valley wine (I prefer Russian River wine), the whole experience and pairing experience was still so enjoyable that I didn't mind. I also only discovered this wine preference after they were nice enough to pour us extra glasses of Russian River to compare with the Alexander Valley. Most importantly, everyone would leave after serving us the course so that we could enjoy the gorgeous view and the breeze (we asked them to open the doors to the outside patio) while eating. It was the perfect balance of relaxing eating time and engaging conversation with the chefs as they brought out each plate. A few other things to note: we got two wine glasses as souvenirs from our visit in a cloth tote bag, which was a nice surprise. In addition if you plan to come here, you NEED to either have a driver or drive yourself. Ubers are extremely hard to come by in this area and while Silver Oak has some taxi services they frequently recommend to guests, it's not always the case that there will be an available driver to pick you up immediately.

***3.5 Stars***…read more Beautiful grounds with a gorgeous tasting room! Medlock Ames definitely impresses when it comes to their estate. Their tasting room is located right in the heart of Alexander Valley and is surrounded by lush and vibrant gardens. They have an adorable patio space with great views of both their gardens and vineyards. Their indoor tasting room is so hip and chic. It features a center tasting bar that is surrounded by beautiful artwork and a backwall that showcases their wine cellar. My friend and I came here for a tasting and we had a very pleasant time. Laura was our host and she was really sweet and very knowledgeable about the wines that she poured. She told us about the history of the winery and how it began. It was neat to learn that Medlock Ames was started by two college buddies while they went to school in NYC. Most of their grapes from their wines are sourced from their own vineyards in Bell Mountain. The majority of the wines that are produced here are small lot and limited production. Tastings are $45 and available by reservation only. Although I enjoyed the atmosphere here, I wasn't blown away by any of their wines. My friend is a big fan of their sauvignon blanc and I'll admit that it's tasty and probably their signature wine. It was odd that it wasn't featured on their tasting list, but Laura was nice enough to pour it for us anyways. I'm not usually a fan of merlot, but I actually enjoyed their Jefferson Clone Merlot the best out of all the wines that we tried. I just felt that wines were overpriced for the quality, but it could have just been that my palate didn't align with these particular wines. Despite this, I would still come back again to try more of their wines. Hopefully, I'll find something that I truly like here in the future.

We're experienced wine connoisseurs and have enjoyed wine experiences around the world, including in Healdsburg on numerous occasions. In our search for Pinots to serve with upcoming holiday dinners and parties, we stopped into Marine Layer. The space itself was inviting and had many comfortable seating arrangements from living room style areas with a plush sofas and chairs to more traditional table and chair seating to bar stools at the bar. Typically we enjoy engaging with staff while we sample wines, so naturally we gravitated to the bar. We were hoping to learn more about the wines they pour and about the winery itself. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. There were two gentlemen behind the bar and we obviously drew the short stick as our assigned staff member just couldn't be bothered to engage with us at all. He poured us our two glasses and proceeded to busy himself doing everything and anything behind the bar than to engage with us. We knew this wasn't the norm because the other staff member was readily and easily engaging with the other patrons. We ordered glasses of the the 2023 Grand Vent and the 2023 Cap's Crown. Both were palatable wines, but we were left wanting as literally no information was shared with us about these two wines, although we made it clear our intent was to find and purchase suitable wines for upcoming celebrations. Needless to say, Marine Layer failed its first interview and won't get another from us. Perhaps we've been spoiled by the exceptional tasting experiences we've had out on Westside Road - where anyone should go who's seeking exceptional Pinots from the area (Russian River Valley). We know that Healdsburg remains a great place to sample wines from Sonoma and beyond. We also know that a spot on the square in Healdsburg doesn't equate to excellence. We're often asked to recommend approachable wines and wine tasting experiences to friends, family and colleagues. Unfortunately, we'll not be recommending Marine Layer.
