Man, this place used to have amazing food. I would tell everyone about this place before it moved. I am NOT a burger fan, but was told I HAD to try theirs. I did one day, and I was hooked. That burger was so tender, juicy, and tasty. The elberta cheese was just melted into the crevices of the burger, the bread was definitely fresh. I mean, amazing. So, we come back.....and the burger was very confusing. There was juice dripping from the patty, but the patty was tasteless and dry with a weird texture. I could hardly tell there was cheese on it. I actually took my burger apart to check and see if it was there. It was, couldn't taste it though. My husband took a bite because he didn't believe me, he has been vegetarian for a while.....which says a lot. He looked at me in disbelief and confirmed what I told him. It wasn't a bad burger, but not what it used to be. Our server was great though. The atmosphere at the new location is good. I miss the Italian place that used to be there though. read more

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Hands down the best restaurant in Fairhope!! I had the bison burger, my son had the elk burger special and my husband had the beef burger. We all 3 had drink specials. Everything right from greet to table was phenomenal! The restaurant was cozy with blankets at the tables and outdoor heaters for your comfort but we sat inside in a room off the main restaurant that had 8 tables. Our server was incredible! It was just the best experience bar none!!! 10 stars!!!! read more

we have been going to Locals for years and have had a decent meal each time. Unltil last night. I had a party of 9 and had requested the glassed in room away from kitchen. We arrived to find another party of 11 in same room. IF that party was also booked I should've been told. the space is too small that that many people. We ended up in main room . It was busy, and noisy but we thought it would be better than with the other party in smaller room. Now the real fun begins. We selected Locals because they have options for vegan/ vegetarians and we had one in our party . It was listed on BOTH website AND the menu we were given. The veggie burger... not available, big disappointment as this is what she really wanted. She then asked for Mediterranean sandwich. Not available. So all that was left was salad which she didn't want. She ordered soups and fries as that's all the choices. And also NO arancini. The reason for these not being available was " they were short staffed ". Thats unacceptable. If you can't get them take them OFF the menu. Period. Also my burger came WITHOUT the bacon and mushrooms I ordered, and paid for as well as being medium not med rare. To say this night was a HUGE DiISAPPOINTMENT is an understatement. We will most likely not be back until they get their act together. Our waitress was nice. She was doing her best . We were told the owner was having health issues ( and I wish her a speedy recovery) but maybe everyone was doing their best but on this night it wasn't. read more

I have been going to this beautiful venue - it should be a wedding venue!! - for some months last winter, and hearing the stories around and inside it I got to understand it is not just the body nourishing food that makes this venue stand out: it is the soul nourishing owner. Being a local to Fairhope she takes her staff - that she pays more than average, always believing in goodness, knowing that she feeds their families too, not just with money but with exemplary deeds too - along beautiful initiatives: 1) does a homeless shelter need a Christmas dinner? She provides it for free. 2) does that same shelter need a car to bring homeless people to work? She makes her venue available for free, and also all the food, so the shelter could raise 25.000 dollar for the car via a fundraising dinner. And that in a winter period when weather has less people coming in the restaurant, or the wrong people. And she does it anyway. So the food I ate was not only to fill my stomach or her wallet, it fills heart and soul and hope in people, provided they allow themselves a world in which this can and will still exist. She is even organising food tours abroad to have her customers have the same heart and soul and body healing experience that she has personally had too! In Memphis - soul music capital - I saw several venues advertising with 'soul food', but Fairhope could consider to officially honor her as a citizen that with her food and existence represents the goodness of Heart and Soul, physical, mental, social. Beware. My lunch was 16.00 but when I asked for a print out of my bill (you have to ask for one) the charge was 16.55! When I asked why they just took it off my bill but gave me no reason. Please check your bill all the time. read more

I honestly expected more with all the rave reviews. The menu is pretty much a burger joint that charges 2.75 for every topping you add outside of a Big Mac. They do have some good pasta dishes and salads, but truly not the best burger or sandwich I've ever eaten. Cocktail menu seems fun, but you'll pay just as much for your cocktail as your scant burger. Went today for lunch! There were 9 of us and they were so accommodating to us! The food was so delicious and fresh! We had everything on the menu from appetizers, salads, sandwiches and burgers! Their fries are spot on good the shrimp and grits was spectacularly good! The shrimp scampi sandwich was also good but something you don't see on a lot of menus! Highly recommend this place! They have indoor and outdoor seating and the ambiance is so beautiful because of the flowers, the design and the decor! The wait staff were all so nice and accommodating! My wife and I went into this Locales last night around 7:30 (7/5/2025) The weather outside looks like rain and as a hostess grabbed her menus and started leading us through. I pointed out a table right up front, but she told me they were overwhelmed, so we followed her and followed her Outside the building to another building where there was a long bar, one person sitting at the bar and no one else in there but 1 employee. This room was like a dungeon!! She led us to a table in the back corner, which was dark and dirty and dirty napkins on the bench side. The table was so unlevel you could not have even eaten on it! I was appalled and felt insulted that she took us in there! I don't know that I've ever felt so angry! She might as well have put us in a mop closet!! I sat there for about 20 seconds and then told my wife we are leaving!! I had a few words with the hostess that took us back there, and she looked at me like she didn't care one bit!!! What started out as a wonderful evening turned into a despicable event!! We found a restaurant named Gambino's. We had a wonderful dinner, a great view and a excellent waiter! read more

We were seated inside looking into the open kitchen, while sitting there I observed a male blow his nose in the kitchen, still unsure if he washed his hands after (mind you he's the one plating the burgers) I also seen a waitress pick up a slice of cake from the prep area, the cake had fallen over on the plate so with her bare unwashed hands she picked it up and recentered it on the plate. Located at the heart of downtown Fairhope, this place is like a throwback to what restaurants were like before they all became chain restaurants and franchises. Food portions are generous and they have plenty of options to build your own sandwich/burger. They have choices of game of the day (duck), grass fed beef, grass fed lamb, vegan and gluten free patties.
