Chris Hall is such a wonderful member (and leader) of the ATL culinary community. As a rockstar chef, he also lends his stardom to many great local (and some not so local) causes. Actually he started the Giving Kitchen, a great cause you should all support, but I digress. Chef Hall ROCKS! Local Three continues to innovate and execute well. Chef Hall obviously had built a great team at L3, and I won't even try to go into everyone's names here. Just know that when you go to L3 you will be well-cared for, like coming home for Thanksgiving, but without Aunt Mildred asking whether you'll ever "settle down". Ok. Obviously I have personal issues and you're not reading this to learn about me. Let's talk about the food. Local three has snacks, small plates, big plates and specials. READ your menu!! Then order the specials. Tonight we started with truffle popcorn topped with Parmesan. Just order it when you sit down and have a nice red wine by the glass while you mull the menu. Then we had the blackberry and kale salad topped with goat cheese. Again, another glass of nice red wine. (They have tons of wines by the glass and also great beers.). This salad is to share! It was excellent. Light goat cheese that paired with the fruit quite well. For mains we did duck confit as "duck and waffles". This is in their summer menu and stupid good. Make sure someone at the table orders this. Have another glass of lighter red wine, preferably a pinot but could be something with more structure like a CDR if you prefer. We also did the venison special. This was a special special. Amazing! Chef Hall had a special gift with sourcing food (any time they have house made sausage or pasta GET IT). As another rule, anytime they have game meat, Get it too! Chef Hall don't play! Holly helped is tonight and was awesome but honestly the L3 team is great. (Also, please support the Giving Kitchen and Beats and Eats!) Lastly, I will just say that some of my foodie friends and I have discussed how L3 used to use a lot of salt in their food. Excellent food, excellent service, validated parking. We will be back again and again. For drinks, I ordered the Pink Floyd, which was described to me as basically a blackberry margarita and it was excellent. My husband found it a little too sweet, but I thought it was just right. For starters, we couldn't decide between shishito peppers or fried okra, so we got both. I thought the shishito didn't have enough heat to be my jam, but husband liked them. The fried okra was excellent; REALLY delicious fry batter. Only way it could have been better is if they weren't cut length-wise so I could have gotten more fried batter. For dinner, he got the burger and split it with me (perfectly cooked and I LOVED the melted cheese) and I got the burnt ends and split them with him. They were phenomenal. Our dinner last night was amazing! We came back to try the chef's table again as we tried this experience back in December. This dinner and experience was incredible and one that hit on every level. Everyone was very attentive. The service from Megan was top notch. She was so friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. Reid's drink pairings were wonderful and he did a great job explaining each of the selections. Sous Chef Brandon and Executive Chef Kelly did a fantastic job with the creativity, flavors and presentation of every dish! The food was so so good! Every dish was eaten with a big smile and compliments discussed around the table. The marinated Argentinian Jumbo prawn was packed with flavor and the lemon curd and chimichurri sauces were perfectly balanced. The Foie gras mousseline tart was very creative and the rosemary crust, peach preserve topping mixed with a cocoa dusting made for an explosion of flavor. There was a sautéd foraged mushroom dish over a goat cheese polenta. My friend who doesn't like mushrooms cleaned his plate and said it was awesome. The Morels were delicious! The main course was dry aged bone in prime ribeye. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned! It was so flavorful and didn't need anything to go with it. It just melted in your mouth. We did get a little extra chimichurri to try with it because that sauce was so tasty. The desserts were also a variety of flavors, techniques and treats. The dishes we had were very creative and unique and perfectly flavored...Hats off to the chef! This was truly an amazing experience and one we definitely would recommend to others. Great brunch! Excited to try this spot for dinner ASAP. I loved this because it was set up buffet style .. but in the kitchen! So awesome. We were told by our waitress they have one of the largest kitchens on the eastern seaboard. There were brunch and lunch options and you could go get food as much as you wanted. My favorites were: shrimp and grits, Mac and cheese, salad with apple, perfectly cooked bacon, soft eggs, beet salad and the biscuits.. amazing. Flaky. Soft. Buttery. Peppery. Oniony. Idk. Such a hidden gem! Stopped in on a Saturday for my birthday brunch. The food was wonderful and so was the service. Drinks were a hit or miss. Liquor on ice or with a chaser were favored over mixed drinks, as a few said the bloody Mary's were just ok. There are such unique food selections, and just about all the choices were tasty. All you can eat for $25 per person for adults. No other menu option is available so if you don't like buffet style this is not the place for you. Buffet items are not set up like traditional restaurants. You go in the back where you can see the food prepared to make your plate, which is hidden from the seating area. Parking is only available in the parking garage, but they validate your ticket. The atmosphere is mixed between dressy, business casual, and t-shirts. What was supposed to be a casual Monday dinner with friends turned into one of my favorite meals, ever! This place can be pretty impossible to find your first visit, so leave some buffer in your scheduling. But no worries- the drinks are fantastic, enjoy yourself at the bar. As for my cocktail, I enjoyed two of the Curious George drinks. Just like with food, I like to experiment in cocktails but I don't like to order something with ingredients that sound totally foreign. The description on Curious George was a good fit for me, and it was delicious!! Plus it came with a huge cube of ice, which is a nice presentation factory. Our appetizers include the McQuackers and the brussel sprouts. The McQuackers were good, but I am obsessed with their brussel sprouts. Of course, they are friend in duck fat so they probably don't maintain much of the nutritional benefits. But they were freaking good. You must order!! And great for sharing. For dinner- I had a really hard time deciding. The menu was really pushing my limits in terms of comfort level and flavors. Every dish had something both appealing and off-putting to me. Finally, that moment came where I had to order, and I went for the scallops. Mostly I ordered this dish because our server had mentioned that it's very popular. It was AMAZING. Normally I don't like scallop dishes - a little shellfish is good, but a lot doesn't sit well with me. This dish had 3 medium/large-ish scallops which was perfect. The quinoa and citrus balanced really well with the scallops. Our service was really great too. The server was always around, checking in on us, seeing how the food was, and providing answers to our crapton of questions on the menu (and just his opinion). As for the ambiance - what is usually most important to me- I'll admit that I liked it. My typical response to farm-to-table concept restaurants like this (and Empire State South, and others) is that just feels too damn casual for all the money I'm spending. And I feel weird if I'm in a cute dress and my server is in a plaid shirt. But I have to say, I'd totally come back here. Check it out!! read more

Tucked away inside the Forum at the Piazza at Paces complex, Local Three Kitchen & Bar is worth making the effort to find. Gorgeously redesigned since taking over the space formerly occupied by Joel Brasserie, Local Three is my kind of place. Straightforward, local, seasonal, and absolutely delicious food dominates the menu. The service is excellent, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. For lunch recently, I had the Blue Plate special, a cioppino made with calamari, tuna, and mussels. My dining companion had the house made fazzoletti pasta with italian sausage, kale, white beach, and roasted peppers. It looked and smelled amazing, and she assured me it was every bit as tasty. (Due to my gluten allergy, I could not sample her dish, nor could I mop up the delicious cioppino broth with the bread that usually comes with it. But the good news for people with food allergies is that Local Three will work with you to ensure a safe and happy dining experience.) If you can handle it, start off with one of their signature cocktails. I can recommend the Preferred Nomenclature, a refreshing blend of Hendrick's gin, Chateau Lamothe de Haux, and St. Germain. So my bestie suggested Local Three for brunch after a previous visit. I knew it had to be good because she typically does not stray from the usual brunch places. I loved the experience! The atmosphere was positive-you could tell the staff were genuinely happy to be there. I appreciated for one price you get a great all you can eat meal that included non-alcoholic beverages! For our meal, we had a choice of chorizo biscuits and gravy, coconut pineapple pancakes (i think...they were good), cuban sandwiches, and some other items I unfortunately cannot remember but everything was delicious! The space is not very large and they fill quickly so I suggest reservations if you would like to come here. I will return soon! read more

This is my 2nd review here, though I've dined here a few more times than that. They continue to be consistent, and high quality; thus the frequent return visits. This occassion, there were five of us, and everyone enjoyed their dinners. We had venison medallions, $14; beet ravioli, $12, sweet potato soup, $10, scallops, $27, slads, banana bread and other assorted desserts, glasses of wine, bourbon, and that's on top of bring one special bottle of red wine, for which we paid the very nominal and most reasonable corkage fee of $10. Subtotal before tax and tip was $262, for five persons. VERY good quality and value. I really enjoyed everything about this place. You can't give .5 stars otherwise I would give it a 4.5. The location of the restaurant is like a hidden gem. Inside a business park and when you walk in the energy of the place just gets your blood going. Sets you up for what will be a great dining experience. I held fort with a table of eight. Started the evening with a few different apps, but the keys to my heart were was the truffle Parmesan popcorn. I could have eaten three bowls and nothing else and been on 10. Guess you can tell I love popcorn, huh? For dinner I had the pork shoulder. It was good. The Mac n Cheese was a table favorite. The hungryman was eloquently presented in a tray like you were in grade school. Our guests loved it. The burgers received rave reviews. The only lukewarm feedback I heard about a dish was the cod. Wish I had tried to share an opinion on it. I went for the brunch. It is buffet style and totals to about $22 per person without tip or extra drinks (this price includes coffee, tea, water, and I think soda; excludes juice and alcoholic bev) There were a lot of different selections. I really liked the open kitchen concept. Service was also great. The menu changes frequently, apparently. Space was nice and cozy. It is pretty hidden away so it's difficult to find... My favorite things on the menu were the bay scallops and shrimp with cheese and grits, the duck fat gravy biscuit, the peach honey jam, and the local three potatoes. I liked the consistency of the pancakes and french toast as well. but the pancakes had some cream and balsamic glaze that i wasn't crazy about.. and the french toast was orange creamsicle (I don't like creamsicles..) The broccoli mac n cheese was also good. The salad was overdressed and soggy. I also wish there were more veggies. Quiche with kale and some other stuff was bland and undercooked (bad consistency). Eggs were oversalted. I tried two different batches and they were both too salty. Coffee needs work (both regular and decaf). Wish they had more of a selection. Oh well. Overall good-- not great. I would return though. Will try it again and see if the selections improve or not. read more

Took the rest home. -parking was validated, which was nice -conveniently off 75 so easy to meet friends there from ITP/OTP Cons: -pricey brunch cocktails. I am pregnant and ordered a mocktail which was still full price ($12) despite no spirits. -distancing patrons was okay, but we were pretty close to the next table (probably not a full 6 feet). I recently attended a baby shower here and was very pleased with everything I ate. I highly recommend this place for a birthday, baby shower, really any celebration. We weren't in the actual restaurant, but they have a private room a little past the hallway leading to the restaurant, it's across from the security desk. It was a decent sized room that comfortably accommodated 28 people and the buffet. Food: Our meal included (for $26ish) bacon, eggs, potatoes, blue mac and cheese, pancakes, french toast, pork shoulder carnitas with cheese grits, shrimp fried rice, shortbread, blueberry coffee cake, cornbread, roast beef and cheddar panini, quiche du jour, hummus, and salad. I think this is their standard brunch menu. With so many options, I tend to try things I don't usually eat and 1 or 2 faves, that said I had; french toast, blue mac and cheese, shrimp fried rice, quiche du jour, hummus, green salad, pork shoulder carnitas, and shortbread. Of everything I tried the blue mac and cheese, shrimp fried rice, and pork shoulder carnitas with cheese grits were all delicious. I took a bit of each home. I also went back a few times for the shortbread that was a nice ending to my meal. Also worth noting, we had quite a bit of food left over and the wait staff brought out to-go containers without us even asking. Drinks: They had a few of the usual brunch cocktails; bloody Maria, mimosa, bellini, and few options of bubbly and rose. I ordered a Brunch Punch, which is their version of a rum punch. I was expecting it to come in a larger glass, but the 1 I had to the job. Parking: There's a parking deck around back and the restaurant validates tickets. Location: The restaurant is right off Northside Pkwy when you exit the interstate. It's tucked into what seems like a very nice mixed use office park. Signage for the restaurant is not very obvious and easy to miss if you're not familiar with the area. Overall: Enjoyed the food and the vibe of the restaurant. Not sure I'd go out of my way to drive on this side of town, but if I were in the area I'd certainly consider Local Three as an option. read more

I was really looking for something filling and tasty at this point and didn't expect Local Three to be as good as it was. The location is a bit odd, in some apartment/condo building. - EATING FROM THE KITCHEN. This is the first time I've had an opportunity to do that. It was really cool. You go into the kitchen, pick out what you want to eat and load it on the plate. - SO TASTY. Even though it was a "buffet" style brunch, every food item was exquisite. The rabbit quiche was phenomenal. The potatoes were cooked perfectly, spiced just right and extremely flavorful. Brownie is very tasty. Really, everything I got from the kitchen was just amazing. We were a party of 10 celebrating a birthday tonight. While everything I had and most people had was perfect we had some in our party that didn't think all the food was good. We started with apps of bread, Mac and cheese, ham charcuterie, and a cheese charcuterie. Then we all had different entrees. While it took a long time according to the wait staff, we didn't think so, and we got free popcorn!!!! Yay for truffle parm popcorn!!! Then because of some people's meals were not good and food took too long in the staff's opinion we got 3 free desserts. In my opinion everything was very good and the staff working with us and rectifying the slow kitchen issue with free food was a plus! So their brunch! YAAAASSS. I love the concept. It is served in their kitchen as a buffet style. I had a party of 10 people for my 30th birthday. The waitstaff was amazing and very accommodating. The coffee was amazingly strong very necessary. The food was great. It rotates weekly so it may be pointless to tell you what on the menu. Think glorious carbs! The pancakes were divine as were the biscuits. Bacon! There was plenty. But my favorite was their staple of the L3 potatoes. I really love their sauce. I deducted a star merely on the fact that it was quite difficult find. The decor was very contemporary and in the fashion of the gastropub. I loved the bar and the open atmosphere. This was an amazing dining experience. First, our server Christie was excellent. She knew the menu backwards and forwards, answered all our question and had a great sense of humor. Now the food...OMG!!! We had the Notorious P.I.G., the asparagus and the ahi tuna. All were outstanding and I would order each again. I had the cod and was in heaven. Our server Grace was gracious and professional; Manager Eric went above and beyond in correcting the issue and compensating us. Really wasn't necessary... The buffet line goes through the kitchen and the presentation was too informal. I didn't care for the food itself so had half a plate. Everyone murmured that the meal felt overpriced. Hidden gem! Located just ITP. Started by 3 local chefs (including Chris Hall who recently won a James Beard award). There are a lot of vegetarian friendly options. The location is a little tricky to find. But there is a validated parking lot right next to the building the restaurant is in with direct access from parking to the building lobby. 6 of us went for drinks and dinner. Started with drinks. All the cocktails were excellent. This month they were all Game of Thrones themed. They told us they rotate the theme frequently. All the cocktails are priced at $13.03, but very well crafted and yummy! We then shared a bunch of small/medium plates between 4 of us: Strawberries & Cream - the sourdough was very buttery and toasted perfectly. The burrata didn't blow me away. But the strawberry salad with balsamic and greens was fresh and a good compliment to the cheese. Buffalo Cauliflower - nice take on buffalo chicken. Sauce was great. The cauliflowers did get soggy quickly. But overall good flavors. Truffle Parmesan Popcorn - OMG the best thing we ate! So good we had to order a 2nd. Asparagus Cacio E Pepe - creative low carb take on the classic Italian dish. The cured egg on top was the star of the show. Spring Beet Poke - my favorite plate as a whole. The flavors were Asian inspired with a twist. The crispy noodles added a great crunch. The ambiance is nice, dimly lit, but with big windows so I imagine its bright and airy for brunch. They have several larger tables to accommodate bigger groups. Overall great spot for drinks and dinner with friends after work or an intimate date night. this place is super nice! its a small restaurant with a ton of bourbon options. i personally do not drink so i didnt try it but if that is what you're into, this place would be great for you. there werent many options on the menu which i enjoyed because they all sounded really good. i got the cheese and meat board and i loved them. a great variety but it wasnt a very big portion. i also got the paella which had lots of seafood in it. i didnt like the flavor of it but my boyfriend loved it. i also got the fried chicken which was pretty good. the skin was crispy and has lots of flavor. the chocolate bread pudding was so delicious. it was warm, flavorful, and had a great taste of coffee as well. the beignets i could definitely pass on because the sauce that comes with it looks like something inappropriate/bowl of boogers and tasted similar to be honest. this place is definitely worth a try for a date night! read more

A friend and her husband absolutely loves coming here for brunch on Sundays so when she asked us if we were free to go today, I was thrilled that we did not have anything scheduled and could meet up with them. The location is really weird and seems out of place but it also makes it interesting. It is a bit smaller than I thought it might be but has a very cute atmosphere and is cozy. I will say upfront that there is a bit of sticker shock involved. $25 for brunch is a tad steep and the drink prices are over the top. Still, I felt like I had to try a brunch punch because it sounded delicious and it did not disappoint. Just one at $12 a pop though. The food was excellent. I'm not understanding the one star reviews. I know every place has a bad day once in a while but it just seems hard to believe that this place is deserving of one star reviews based not only on my experience today but my friend's consistent experience because they come a lot and she said they have never once had a bad meal here. The brunch buffet really offered something for everyone and the things that were already portioned out were done so in a way that really allowed you to try anything you wanted to try without ending up feeling overstuffed. The menu changes regularly and I really like that you go through the kitchen for the buffet line. It's unique and I really think it adds to the overall experience. The service was really great too. Our server was attentive enough but not so much that it was obnoxious. This is always a fine line with me and I love it when a server gets it right. I can definitely see returning here for brunch in the future as well as other meals. But I will probably stick with water or soda in the future just so that we don't end up spending $90 on brunch again, which is what the total ended up being for two brunches, a brunch punch, one cider, taxes, and tip. We had a group of 9 of us out for a business dinner. We had a reservation so getting seated didn't take long. Trying to order drinks, appetizers and pay the bill took forever. Seemed like our waitress would just disappear. We had the truffle parmesan popcorn and the pimento cheese biscuit starter (fancy name, couldn't remember the exact name). Both were very good! I had the redfish for dinner. Found some bones on the top so I mainly ate the underneath to avoid to any others. It was ok, probably not worth $30. 2 coworkers had the deep fried brownies and a peach pastry. Both smelled and looked amazing, but I can't vouch for the taste. They didn't seem upset by their choices. Decent wine list and good atmosphere. Took me some time to find the Peking since it was my first time. It's a parking garage attached the restaurant which you have to go inside the building to get to the entrance. I made the mistake of walking around outside and had to sneak in the patio entrance. No one is checking the parking garage after 6 so no need to get your parking ticket validated. Just simply drive through the middle gate and it's free. read more
