To-go container mac and cheese
Michelle L.

Best Mac & Cheese ever. I like to consider myself a mac & cheese connoisseur of sorts. Most mac & cheese is typically gooey and cheesy but not anything truly exemplary. However, this mac & cheese is truly phenomenal. I have had a lot of mac & cheese in my life and genuinely, nothing compares to Ok Cafe's mac & cheese. Incredible cheesy perfection. When dining in I'll usually get their thanksgiving plate with turkey/sweet potato. I like that their turkey isn't dry... I also love how they consider mac & cheese a "vegetable" on their menu. Their cornbread is also good (your classic crumbly cornbread). Grilled cheese is also solid. Honestly, haven't had anything here that I wouldn't mind ordering again. Such a homey spot and always consistent food and good service. I cannot stress how delicious their mac & cheese is. One of my favorite meals ever.

We came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was crowded but we managed to get seated right away. The place remained me of an old school diner. Our waitress was awesome and gave us recommendations and kept our drinks full. From the time we ordered to the time our food showed up was less than ten minutes. The food was great and the portion size was large. Overall it was a good experience but next time I'll order from the takeaway side. The takeaway side has items I like that's not on the menu. For example, fried okra.

Mary Mac's Tea Room, Bones, the Varsity, OK Cafe. If you are from Atlanta you know these icons. OK Cafe is one of those Atlanta institutions that, when you hear the name, you know EXACTLY where you are. In the heart of the ritzy West Paces Ferry area of Atlanta/ Buckhead, just off I-75 South. I have been coming here for 39 years since the beginning when visiting my Aunt and Uncle off of West Paces Ferry. This is the quintessential diner/family spot with lots of comfort food options. My go to for dinner is usually pot roast or a burger. But we came for breakfast and they do breakfast RIGHT! Come hungry whenever you come! I had an omelette with potatoes and a biscuit and a short stack of griddle cakes. The griddle cakes were bigger than I've seen in most places. Fluffy and perfect! Our service has always been excellent, quick and efficient. The place is spotless! (Most recent score 100!) Lots of table sizes and great for large parties from what I could see. You will find some beautiful folk art and other pieces all over the walls. My favorite is the one I snapped below. Really cool textured painting of Atlanta showing the most identifiable spots in Atlanta. I cannot express enough how much I enjoy this place every time we come here. The food is always perfect and the service and decor are memorable. You must add this place if you ever visit Atlanta! It IS Atlanta.

Admittedly I don't get the hype. Old cafe with simple food. Stopped in briefly and tried tenders, fries, jalapeños fried cheese, and more. Lots of unrecognizable sauces etc. Didn't try them but they do serve mimosas at least. Three stars for lovely server and clean bathroom.

Finally made it to Ok Cafe which was amazing!! We came here after seeing a movie on a Saturday night and it was PACKED. We had to wait about 20-30 minutes for a table for 3. Once seated I got the house made cherry cola and omg it was stunning. You could tell it was homemade with the red tint and it was crisp and refreshing. For my meal I got the fried chicken with Mac and cheese and green beans it was so yummy. Delicious southern cooking in a charming restaurant. My only complaint was I wished the green beans were seasoned more. We split the strawberry shortcake for dessert and it was light and delicious. Yummy!

My luncheon companion and I went to OK CAFE, a place I havent been to in a long time. It had a massive fire a few years back and had been rebuilt. WOWZA!!! It is now way larger than before but still has ample parking. We entered through the backdoor through their newly added cafeteria style to go room. There in addition to refrigerated cases, they had almost the whole lunch menu laid out. I saw what I ultimately ordered and it all looked fresh and yummy. The wait staff hustled with purpose and efficiency. The restaurant has a new room whose central theme is a huge tree coming up from the floor with money attached to all branches like leaves. They clearly wanted a dramatic focal point and they hit the mark. Their expanded curving lunch bar accommodates a lot of folks comfortably. The prices were mid range and the portions more than ample. Anytime of day oe night, OK is the OK place to get a fix for superb southern style home cooking.

We had an OK time here! Arrived when there was almost no wait, but the process of putting yourself on their seating list was a little odd, since there were tons of people crowding around the sign in sheet to pay their bill. Once seated, the service was pretty good and the food was nicely prepared and offered in large portions. I would go back!

This place is always busy!! Great food and service each and every time. I did realize this time that there is a bathroom in the back as well as the front.

This place has been open for years and the food still delicious. Great place for comfort southern food . I had the meatloaf this time and it was juicy and full of flavor . Highly recommend for comfort southern food!

We got seated and got some classic diner coffee to start. For the meal, I got the bacon egg and cheese biscuit and shared the skillet french toast with the table. This is truly no frills which is why I love it. Great breakfast and 4 us of ate for $60 which felt like a great deal. I really am glad I came back and will be coming more often because I forgot how much I enjoyed it!

Some restaurants are trendy…read more Some restaurants are modern. And some restaurants take one look at changing food trends and say, "Nah, we're good." The Silver Skillet in Atlanta falls firmly into that last category. This place is an old-school Southern diner in all the best ways possible. The kind of place where the coffee keeps flowing, the biscuits arrive without apology, and calories are treated more like suggestions than rules. In fact, we took an early morning flight to Atlanta specifically to make sure we'd get there before they close at 2:00 PM. That's either a testament to how much we enjoy The Silver Skillet or evidence that we need a support group for Southern breakfast food. I'm leaning toward both. It's also been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, which usually gets my attention. But unlike some places that become famous and start coasting on reputation, The Silver Skillet still earns its following the old-fashioned way: by serving really good food. And judging by the walls and the stories, I'm not the only one who thinks so. Over the years, celebrities ranging from Samuel L. Jackson to Charles Barkley and Travis Tritt have eaten here. After this visit, I completely understand why. Whenever I'm in Atlanta, this place has become one of my regular stops. On this visit, my wife ordered the country fried steak smothered in white gravy with eggs and a biscuit. It was exactly what you want Southern comfort food to be: hearty, flavorful, satisfying, and unapologetically indulgent. Nobody orders country fried steak looking for a wellness retreat. I went with their signature country ham served with red gravy, scrambled eggs, and biscuits. Now, if you've never had country ham, understand that this isn't your average breakfast ham. Country ham shows up with attitude. Salty, rich, packed with flavor, and perfectly balanced by the red gravy. Combined with the eggs and biscuits, it was the kind of breakfast that makes you seriously consider canceling the rest of your plans and taking a nap. The atmosphere is part of the charm. It feels authentic because it is authentic. No manufactured nostalgia. No corporate designer trying to recreate a 1950s diner from a Pinterest board. This is the real thing. The Silver Skillet has survived because it knows exactly what it is and executes it well. Solid food. Friendly service. A classic Atlanta institution. And a place that's earned every bit of its reputation. Four stars. When you're willing to schedule a flight around a restaurant's closing time, that's about as strong an endorsement as a breakfast spot can get.

It was never bad just meh. I had no other option and the porterhouse steak I had from earlier didnt satisfy me for the whole day like I hoped and it was a big one too. I was quite surprised when I walked in to find it was busy for Christmas day (or evening to be precise). I sat down at the bar and placed a to-go order for a cheeseburger. Ive had them before, nothing to write home about but whatever I thought, just keep it simple. I got home and open the box I noticed they kept the lettuce and tomato separate. When I attempted to open up the burger, it was glued shut with cheese on both sides of the patty, a plus given your normal lone slice of cheese that gets lost in the beef, sauce and fixings. I then saw grill marks on the bottom bun and realized they used an actual grill, not the typical skillet you would see in your ordinary diner which is another plus. My first few bites surprised me, its not just some run-of-the-mill burger, there was char flavor and far from bland. The burger was cooked just right, medium to medium rare which is my prefer temperature. The crinkle fries were crispy, fresh and not pan-fried like I had the last couple of times elsewhere. Overall, I was surprised, i dont recall their burgers being this good. Its nothing to write home about, just about anywhere you can get a decent cheeseburger but this was not how I remembered my last couple of times going to landmark.

The matzo ball and chicken noodle soup tasted overly lemony and unpleasant. The Greek salad was okay, though it seems they now use sliced olives instead of whole ones.
