Eleanor's is a fun, truly hidden speakeasy located through the Muss & Turner's restaurant. You go through a freezer door and it opens up into a whole other room that's fairly spacious. The place is nice inside but not as intimate as I was expecting for a speakeasy. It's a fairly casual vibe inside with a bar and some seating around the sides. I really enjoyed the cocktails. They're light but really well balanced in their flavors. We had called ahead of time and were told the place closed at 10 PM but at 9:30, they already turned on the lights and were getting people to leave. We felt rushed out of there which wasn't fun especially since we called ahead. Also, there were fruit flies all over the place and in our faces. The entire time, we were fighting off the fruit flies which really dulled the experience. There was 10+ so it was very annoying. Hopefully they can fix that problem and it will make for a more enjoyable experience. read more

We came here with a group of 12 to celebrate a 60th birthday, and overall the dinner experience was great. The food was excellent, the drinks were on point, and our waitress did an awesome job handling such a large party. She stayed on top of everything and made sure we were taken care of all night. After dinner, we decided to check out the speakeasy through the freezer door--Eleanor's--and unfortunately, that's where the experience took a turn. The atmosphere itself was nice--semi-dark with a cool concept--but it could definitely lean more into a darker, more immersive speakeasy vibe. The bigger issue, though, was the service. It was night and day compared to upstairs. The waitress came across as rude and unwelcoming from the start. A few of us sat down in a small corner area with an L-shaped bench and some extra chairs we had to pull over ourselves. Obviously, with 12 people, there was no way we were all fitting there, yet she insisted she wouldn't take any drink orders until everyone was seated. That made no sense, especially since there was standing room and even a bar-height table available. To make matters worse, there was zero acknowledgment of the birthday--not even a simple "happy birthday," which felt like a missed opportunity given the occasion. When we asked about Fireball shots, the response was a blunt "um, no," followed by "you can have water," as she started filling glasses. That pretty much summed up the vibe we got. Not sure if this is typical service down there or just an off night, but it was enough to make us decide we wouldn't come back to the speakeasy. Bottom line: If you're in the area, definitely check out Muss & Turner's for dinner--it's worth it. But I'd skip Eleanor's and save your time and money. read more

Finally had a first visit to Eleanor's and it most definitely will not be the last. Eleanor's is a small speakeasy in the back of Muss and Turner's that you access through a faux freezer door. It is first come first serve and cozy. You can access the full restaurant menu within the speakeasy, as well as fantastic and unique cocktails. Multiple waiters take care of your table and every one was extraordinarily friendly and knowledgeable which made for a wonderful visit. The food was fresh and delicious. We loved the options on the cocktail menu and the flexibility of the bartender to customize drinks. read more

This is a quaint hidden gem in Smyrna. This speakeasy has good food and the drinks are yummy. For our starters we made our own Charcuterie board. We ordered 3 selections on the menu. For the cheese selection, we ordered the Ewephoria | Rouveen | Holland which comes with house jam and lavosh crackers. For the charcuterie (meat) we ordered the Mortadella, which came with dijon, house pickles and lavosh crackers. Lastly for the 'Assorted Provisions'' we ordered the Salmon Dip - fresh herbs, capers and house crackers. House crackers? All we got was the lavosh crackers. We did however enjoy the charcuterie board. For my dinner, I got The Tuscan Raider sandwich, which is: brined and wood-grilled chicken breast, prosciutto ham, tossed Italian herbs, melted mozzarella, roasted garlic crème fraiche, and focaccia bread. As you can see from my picture of The Tuscan Raider sandwich, the focaccia bread was super thick! I had to take the top part of my sandwich off because I couldn't take a bite of it. The taste was good, except, my sandwich was super salty! I like salt but omg, it was salty. With a different type of bread this sandwich would have been a hit for me. A cute and funky little speakeasy tucked behind a 'freezer door' in Muss & Turners. The drinks are tiny, and a tad pricey, but super unique and tasty. The menu is limited, however everything I have had was tasty and the service is spot on and with a smile. Because it is small, it's never too loud for a conversation and the ambience kind of pulls you into chatting in comfy booths. Liz has been the bartender every time I have been there, which is a huge plus - not only is she there timely with her killer smile, she has great custom drink recommendations if you tell her what you like. I asked and they listened... yay to tequila drinks!!! I really enjoyed the bartender there and trusted her recommendations. She created a perfectly balanced citrusy and somewhat sweet but not too sweet summer tequila drink. My date also very much enjoyed his whiskey drink. The prices are on the higher end but it's a nice speakeasy bar in Smyrna. Very classy ambiance. Excited to see what they'll have for the upcoming fall menu. Cool concept and great speakeasy-type atmosphere (save for the punk rock music being played through the speaker system). It was also almost uncomfortably cold in the place during lunchtime. I had the Gobbler sandwich and fries. The sandwich was satisfying and the hand cut fries were outstanding! The pickle was a disappointment as it was extremely mushy and inedible. Service was excellent courtesy of Tyler. Full bar and limited seating. Fell short of the 4 star on this first visit but I would definitely try them again. read more

I was at Eleanor's the night referenced in a recent 1-star review, seated nearby and close enough to hear what was going on. I'm leaving this because what I saw doesn't line up with that review at all. The group that was eventually asked to leave came in clearly intoxicated and immediately made another table uncomfortable. When they were told the table wasn't interested in being social, the intoxicated group sat down at a table directly across from them and continued making loud, inappropriate comments. The other table appeared visibly distressed and were clearly trying to keep to themselves. Staff initially tried to calm things down and keep everyone there. When the behavior continued and escalated, they made the right call and asked the disruptive group to leave. You could feel the room relax once they were gone. Unfortunately, situations like this happen sometimes when alcohol is involved. From where I was sitting, the staff handled a tense situation professionally and fairly. I've been going to Eleanor's for over a decade and have always found the staff to be kind, attentive, and respectful. This review doesn't reflect what I personally witnessed that night. read more

There is a great bar on one side, and a few cozy tables inside if you can get one. A great place to surprise a date or if entertaining out of towners. Great cocktails and good service. We walked in and politely asked if we could sit at a nearby table. A woman immediately began yelling at my friend, bringing up a very personal situation instead of responding appropriately. To avoid any issues, we moved to a table across the room. Despite that, the woman and her group continued talking about us. She then stood up, walked over to our table, and began cussing us out. An employee briefly asked us what happened -- the interaction lasted only a few seconds -- then spent about 10 minutes speaking with the other table. In the end, we were asked to leave, even though we had not caused the confrontation. The situation was handled very poorly, and the staff clearly took sides without hearing us out. Extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional experience. Do not recommend. read more

Well, what can I say about Eleanor's? if you're an Atlanta resident and have lived here for the last 5+ years, you probably know about them, but if you don't, you ought to. This is the kind of place you go as a young professional for happy hour or to entice a new date. It has all the cool contemporary vibes expected of a speakeasy, in that you have to open a freezer door to get to the main entrance inside muss and turners. Who doesn't like a little adventure when it comes to venturing out to a new bar scene, right? The regulars will probably just be sitting at the bar, but you can also get a high top or a regular table and sample some of their moules frites and many other tasty offerings. The first time I came here was through a foodie coworker, and she always knew the best places to go, so naturally, this one was a hit. But she didn't live in the area and so coming back was always a different experience for me whether it be with friends or a date. But the one consistent thing about it is that no matter when you come to Eleanor's, the drinks will always be daring and the dishes will always be delicious. If you like the whole casual luxury thing, this is the place to be. read more

I've frequented this well know "secret" speakeasy in the Cumberland area on and off over the years. The bad news is nothing has really changed, but the good news is, nothing has really changed. Nice ambiance, not terribly loud, at least not from tvs or music blaring. Attentive bartenders, good, albeit a bit pricey drinks are aplenty. Food options is quite robust as well and certainly helped by the M&T kitchen supporting. Great for a night out or dropping in for pre/post dinner drinks. read more

Their well stocked bar and dim lighting is all you need to get your fix of in mama's basement. We were served promptly and the seating makes it easy to mingle or sit close you your boo. read more

What a fun little hidden secret! But it's not so hidden because when we arrived around 8:30 on a Saturday night, there was not a seat left. We went to stand along the wall and ordered our drinks at the bar. Soon enough, a couple seats at the bar opened, and we enjoyed a casual night at this delightful "speakeasy" cocktail bar. The drinks were excellent. We each tried two different drinks off the cocktail menu, and not a single one was disappointing. My favorite was the "If you give a Liz a lemon" - a spicy vodka cocktail. You can also order food from the attached restaurant (Muss and Turner's), so we got the fries with truffle dipping sauce, and they hit the spot. The kind hostesses of Muss and Turner's guided us to the entrance to Eleanor's in the back of the restaurant - you go through what looks like a freezer door. Definitely a fun twist on a speakeasy. What a surprise!! Went to the mobility store located a few stores down to get a scooter for my mom and saw a plethora of ppl coming I'm and out of Elenor's so we decided to check it out! Come to find out, within the deli there was a Speakeasy!! Lead me to it! I love secrets! Mom and I sat down for a little snack and a couple drinks. We ordered some fries (offered with various dipping sauce options) and brussel sprouts. They were plentiful portions. Our bartender, I think his name was Axel, was super pleasant, welcoming, and made us some great craft cocktails. The fried chicken breast sammie was cooked on a Big Green Egg and was crispy and juicy. The brisket had a sweet tangy sauce, and it is sliced versus pulled so you will get a large serving. The basket of fries is enough for four so come hungry. As others have said the bar provides a new view in to the other restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy and if you've ever been to a southern juke joint this will bring back memories. Each sandwich comes with a house made pickle so enjoy. read more

I absolutely love this place. The vibe is perfect and it's a true speakeasy. You walk in and tell the host you're going to Eleanor's and can walk straight to the freezer door. Once you walk in it's like stepping into another world. The quiet restaurant quickly turns into a bustling private bar. The staff are always great and very knowledgeable. They do a great job of recommending spirits and checking in on you throughout the night. The food is also amazing! They rotate their menu which is lovely. I love their brussel sprouts (winter) and they change the recipe each time it's reintroduced on the menu. I've also had their fries, mussels, greek salad, and burger. All were amazing. I finally made it out to see what my wife has been keeping secret from me. She's been before with a bachelorette party. On a lunch break, I decided to grab a drink to kill some time. I wasn't sure the bar would be open when I walked in at 1230p. Thanks to the reviewers before me, I was able to walk in there like a boss and know where I'm going (after I confirmed the bar was open). Once I got in, I was impressed with the atmosphere. Sitting at the bar, you had a view (though limited) into the restaurant through the one-way mirror. The drinks were good - a little sweet for my taste. The Brown Thrasher had a big maple palate followed by the apple shrub. The Tong Po was good. The coconut cream made for a nice spin of its own. I think I'm going to make my own Thai teas with coconut milk/cream from now on. Again, this was a bit too far on the sweet spectrum for me. From my sampling, the drinks hide the liquor very well if you're into that. I think next time, I'll intentionally look for something that might not be so sweet. read more

It was pretty good-however I didn't get to see how they made it so I'll have to be sure to sit at the bar next time to see that. Ok so, I'm the interest of craving something different and exciting i stumbled upon Eleanor's. This place is unique, crafty, and too cute! It gives historical Prohibition era speak easy vibes mixed with gentle music great handcrafted cocktails as well as food and gentle music with a low lit and cozy ambiance. I went here for a drink and some food after work to check this off my "Must Experience" list. I can definitely recommend this place for a meet and greet or solitary pop out. You walk into Muss & Turner's and ask for Eleanor's at the host stand. You are directed toward a freezer door where you walk inside and are finding yourself walking from a family style restaurant into an elegant corridor with wine bottles on the walls which opens to a hidden area with a full bar and tables. The food was amazing... "The burger" is what they are known for so with this being my first visit I had to oblige. I sat with Chops (the bartender) at the bar and asked him to make me a handcrafted whiskey beverage. He asked for a few of my preferences and nailed it both times. I definitely will be back. I'm counting Eleanor's among those places that just do everything right. Have a look behind the freezer door. I was a guest at M&T for several visits before I learned of Eleanor's. It was like an early birthday present. You know that moment, when you just need a good hideaway, a dark & intimate spot, and maybe a good drink? A place where there's a mixologist behind the bar who really likes mixing delicious creations? A dining establishment that has a full menu during dining hours, and a selection of tasty snacks during the in-between times? Where commitment to customer service is a priority? Yes. Eleanor's. It gets busy on the weekends. When I say "busy" I also mean "noisy." Sometimes there's a wait for one of the few tables in this space. But the noise has never stopped me from having excellent conversations with my friends over an excellently mixed drink and some tasty food. Speak Easy to me!!!! Yesss finally I've been able to say I've been to a speak easy!! I loved the atmosphere it was cute and small but I loved the ambience!! We enter through what looked like. Freeze to get there! A friend invited me to come along and I'm glad I agreed to go!! The food was good and so were the drinks. Great after work spot or just to unwind from the day! For dinner I had the shifty dream which is a pork sandwich but opted not to have bread so they put it on a bed of lettuce for me. I had to glasses Of Riesling wine. That was great as well.
