I was actually on my way to another coffee shop, but I saw Local Joe when I turned on Smith, so I turned on that side street, Marin, and there was a parking spot right there. Meant to be! I ordered the Royal Hawaiian. This was delicious! I also had a slice of banana bread. It was heated in the oven with a pat of butter on it. Sooooooo good! Said I'd come back for the pumpkin bread, and I did a few days later. Ordered the Royal Hawaiian again. Can't get enough of it and the pumpkin bread heated the same way. Lots of people getting coffee to go and food. It's in a great location! I was also looking for a new coffee supplier. I used to go to Downtown Coffee but the last batch I bought was not very good. I bought Guatemala, Columbia, and Hawaiian. Had them all ground fine. Each one proved to be a winner with the family! So happy to have found this not so hidden gem! It is now my go to for beans! The staff is great! The owner too! And it's a comfortable place to take a break at! Mahalo Joe!

I'm reviewing again because my previous one deleted somehow. There are very few cafes that have their own latte art, and for that reason alone, you should visit. But obviously, you're going to continue to visit because their drinks are also creative and tasty! I haven't tried their food yet. They also have limited outdoor seating which can get pretty hot so I prefer to take mine to go. They're a situated next to a large paid parking lot, but if you plan to be quick and have someone waiting in the car, I recommend parking right outside and sending someone in for your drinks.

Great walking distance with everything else, pick me up coffee treat while exploring china town! Got the royal hawaiian iced. Usually go to the kapolei location, same great tasting products. Only thing is that the bathroom is oddly super dim... all for ambience but it was very low lighting in there. Clean but dim.

Everything was so terribly mid or worse. Very unpleasant service, a stale bagel, but the coffee was decent enough and it's a cute place and I thought the price was fine.

The coolest coffee shop ever! They can transfer any pic to your coffee. The service is a plus here. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Love that about this place. The coffee shop also has its own unique decor and vibe here. Not too big but they have chairs outside to hangout on. The parking is paid parking right outside or to find street parking. I tried the Audrey Hepburn iced latte and it was good. The taste was super good and not too strong. I can't wait to taste everything else

Cute coffee stop on the edge of chinatown! There's a good selection of drinks from classic offerings to seasonal, more creative ones. I got the royal hawaiian mocha with oat milk. It was a bit sweet for my liking but the flavors went great together.

Our go to place for a quick grab and go coffee to start an early weekend morning! Hours are: M-F 6:30AM - 2:00PM Sat & Sun 8:00AM - 1:00PM Convenient parking right outside for quick pick-up & go orders! Coffee comes out hot & fresh! Lots of latte art to choose from. Breakfast menu is available if you want a quick bite to eat. Limited indoor and outdoor seating available!

Local Joe is a coffee shop located on the edge of Chinatown on Smith and Marin. It's a pretty popular spot, and there's limited parking available on the street or in a paid lot. The cafe itself is kind of small so there are a few tables indoors and outdoors; I visited on a weekend morning and it was pretty packed, so wasn't able to find an open spot. I placed an online order for a turkey pesto sandwich and Thai latte with oat milk, and took a bit to be noticed by staff. I told them I was there to pick up my order placed 30 minutes ago, and then they started making my order (which took around 15-20 minutes). Then the owner (I believe) as he gave me my order mentioned they replaced the oat milk with macadamia milk, which I'm allergic to. I asked for it to be remade, which took a bit of time; it would have been nice if they asked me first before making the substitution, esp since I was waiting right there! When I did dig into my order, the Thai latte was too sweet imo and I felt that the coffee wasn't strong enough. The turkey pesto sandwich was ok! Overall was a little frustrated with the online ordering process and wasn't a fan of their drinks, but would be willing to go back to try their sandwiches!

What a great guy who not only taught us how he roasted the green beans but also made a fine cup of iced cold brew . The smell of roasting drew us right in . Come visit and wake up

We came here two days in a row because it was a short walk from where we were staying. The specialty coffees were very good! The staff was helpful and allowed us to substitute ingredients in the breakfast burrito. It was nice that it came with avocado and salsa on the side. The breakfast croissant was tasty too and the croissant was flaky. We came back the next day and ordered an avocado bagel with cream cheese and bacon. Those were pre made and sitting in a glass container which I thought was odd. When I got it, it was very hot and I wasn't expecting the avocado and cream cheese being very hot. There was not a lot of cream cheese and I did not like having the items hot. I couldn't finish it which was disappointing. The ambiance inside is very cute and chill. The service was ok. I would still recommend coming here, but not for the abc bagel.

$15 turkey bacon burrito and ragu salsa

Got here because I saw they had breakfast burritos so like any man, I ran to this place to get a breakfast burrito. I was greeted by this cool dude that spelt my name wrong but no harm since it happens a lot anyways. I then notice they have a turkey bacon breakfast burrito for $15. Just bit into this thing my tastebuds were graced by Tostitos or ragu salsa and the taste of the same ham Papa John's puts on their pizzas. Burrito was alright. Pesto sandwich was better. Both were way too expensive for the experience. Tap water was $.50

Large latte

I ordered large latte, they only have one type of like whole milk and the drink tastes mostly like milk, no coffee taste. If you like milk, it is ok place

There's a latte art machine and it doesn't cost extra. It only works on hot latte or cappuccino.

Is there dining in right now?

Yes. I was there yesterday (7/24) and there are tables outside and you're also able to sit indoors where there is a table and also counter seating.

Have Gluten-free options?

I believe they do

This place can be for any occasion whether for a date night or a hangout with friends. The place can be kinda small so big groups might have some difficulty, but they do have a private room upstairs if you want to inquire. The round table also isn't the greatest for sharing multiple plates so eat accordingly So far my must orders have been the Basil Caesar Salad with Crispy Chicken (this is coming from a salad non-enthusiast), the Fete spread and Steak Tartare (especially with their anchovy buttered toast - chefs kiss!), the Crispy Potatoes, and their Roasted Carrots (which apparently is off-menu). I typically love most of their pasta dishes but the last time I had their Carbonara, it was pretty salty... but nonetheless, good vibes all around!

I was staaaarving so for me and baby I ordered: - Cornbread - I love their cornbread. This was my fave of all the dishes we had. - Bone Marrow - This was probably the biggest marrow I've had anywhere. Like choke marrow. Awesome. Alcohol didn't light on the whole plate so only had little bit and baby couldn't have any. Think no bourbon next time. Just sprinkle some salt and it would be perf. - Chopped - All kine goodies in this salad but the dressing was very "nothing." I added some garlic salt when I ate the leftovers and it kicked it up a notch. - Chicken Pappardelle - The pasta was terrible. So thick and doughy. Took away from the chicken which was okay. Ended up dumping the leftover pasta...which was pretty much the whole thing. - Oxtail Mac & Cheese - This was more like an Oxtail Helper (like Hamburger Helper). Very not cheesey. Baby ate some but think she wanted more cheese. Tasted better the next day. Friends had the Prime. The temp on each was given to the wrong person, which needed to be right since 1 person didn't get the roasted pot. The medium-rare one was cold. Like COLD. Strange. Overall think they fell a little short on the food. Some things GREAT, some thing the opposite, so balanced out. Will I go back? Of course, but now I know what not to get.

We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. Both me and my fiance liked the lukki lemon dessert, like lemon meringue pie but broken down version. TLDR: Long lines even at opening, customizable options but consistently good!…read more Can't say I haven't had authentic acai up until this point. For some reason, I totally forgot that good acai could be found in Hawaii!! Hello!! Its not just the fresh fish ya'll I walked here and there was still a line by 7, and even longer one when I went the next day, but it does move quite fast, especially with some of the workers letting people know they have a sit down resturant next door so just food for thought if you want more actual food options! As it stands they have quite an extensive list of juice, coffee, acai. I decided to go with a more basic route but instead subbing my fruit for what was in season which was mango, lilikoi and lychee. You order at the front and they call your number. They have some seating around as well but if you're at the hawaiian center you can just sit downstairs. The fruit alone was out of this world. I was actually so focused on that I wasn't even thinking about if the acai was good which I think it was! It comes out rather creamy, not frozen or icy. The price is a little steeper than what I've had in the past but honestly the fresh fruit alone made it extremely worth it. A regular sized bowl was quite filling! I came back the next day and it was still just as good. I know some people probably prefer different locations than others but I can rep this one for sure.
