They are a sister company to their neighbor Aburiya Ibushi, so naturally after eating there, we came here for dessert. Immediately when you walk in, the order/cashier is right there. You have to order your items first and then go find a seat. During a busy night it's packed, so patience is key, as everything is made to order. We opted for a bar/countertop seat and it did not disappoint. We got to talk to the servers and see how everything is made up close. Everything was delicious from the hot and iced teas to dessert. My only suggestion is to remove any of your limited item signage or make a notation on the signage when you run out. We were so fixated on trying those new menu items and were sad to hear it wasn't available when we tried to order them. Overall, such a great spot for late night dessert.

We ordered the Matcha Old Fashioned and Sencha Gin Soda, and both were so beautifully balanced. The Matcha Old Fashioned in particular was genuinely one of the best cocktails I've had in my life. Creative and unique without being overly sweet or having any one flavor overpower the others. For dessert, we had the Matcha Anmitsu, and WOW. The matcha flavor actually came through rich and complex while still feeling light and balanced. On top of the food and drinks, the ambiance was amazing and the service was excellent. Everything felt thoughtful and intentional from start to finish. An absolute must if you appreciate matcha, Japanese flavors, or a really well-made cocktail. A million out of 10 would recommend and until then ima dream about coming back.

I LOVE AFTERNOON TEA! I love tea, finger sandwiches and desserts! I've been wanting to try…read moreHalekulani's Afternoon Tea but it isn't at the most convenient time or on the most convenient days for my schedule (Tues - Sat, 2 PM - 4:30 PM). My daughter and I made last minute reservations on Open Table for 4:30 (last seating) on a Wednesday. The basic Afternoon Tea is $75. You can get the Champagne Afternoon Tea for $85 or Celebratory Afternoon Tea for $95. When we arrived we saw people enjoying their tea but we didn't see a host stand to check in so we went to Orchids and the hostess showed us where to wait. There were five tables that seat four people each and one server. I tried the Halekulani 40th Anniversary Blend and my daughter tried the Pineapple Coconut Rooibos with Mango (caffeine free). We both enjoyed our tea. We enjoyed the scones with strawberry preserves, lemon curd and cream as well as the lemon poppy seed cake. We also enjoyed the Bresaola Beef, spinach tartelette, salmon gravlax and chicken salad sandwich with peanuts. We weren't entirely impressed with the pastries, which were beautifully crafted but just not our favorites. I would have preferred Halekulani's coconut cake.

Once we were seated, we were given the menu and invited to select our tea. Since I wanted my friend to feel extra special, I chose the Celebratory Afternoon Tea Set, which included two glasses of champagne and a cake (forgot to take a pic of the cake). To be honest, we didn't think the afternoon tea would be filling and had planned to head to Orchids afterward for more food. We were definitely mistaken...the pastries filled us up more than expected! The highlight for me was the variety of pastries. Most afternoon teas I've had elsewhere focus heavily on sandwiches, but Halekulani offers a fun and unique selection of sweet treats that made the experience feel a little different. The main downside was the birds. They frequently flew into the dining area and tried to eat the food, which made it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the experience.

I love the cozy Japan vibes of this cafe. It's small with limited seating so I recommend doing to-go but it would be nice to have a coffee date here. My bf & I got two drinks to-go -- the matcha latte & yuzu choco oat cold brew. We both really enjoyed our drinks. I also got two bottled drinks -- the ume iced tea & lilikoi lemonade which were also sooo yum. The worker let me sample these two which was nice. I enjoyed the bottled drinks a couple days later, it was a refreshing treat. The staff were friendly & it didn't take long for us to get our drinks. The only challenge may be finding parking as they have only a few stalls in front. We ended up parking a little up the street on the opposite side. It was a short walk to the cafe & well worth it! Will be stopping by again soon for my matcha & tea fix.
