LUPICIA THE GOAT the company has a pretty name that matches its pretty teas. the store smells like flowers and faint clorox. love it. all the workers are nice and super helpful AND give out samples. i am a huge fan of pu'er. please do me a favor RIGHT NOW if you are even 10 miles away from the store and drive here and smell the cinnamon cookie pu'er. smells like snickerdoodles and a great life. the chocolate strawberry pu'er smells like neapolitan with more strawberries. the momoko is very scrumptious as well - nice floral vanilla scent that is suitable for the nostrils of a dissatisfied asian mother. love u lupicia! if you like sniffing things like a dog come here! read more

Their customer experience feels overconfident until something goes wrong -- at which point they deflect rather than own it. Staff knowledge and communication are consistently poor. What's especially frustrating is the performative feedback loop: they solicit input on the BOPIS experience but show no genuine interest in understanding how their customer base actually interacts with their last standing U.S. location at Ala Moana. If you're going to ask for feedback, do something with it. And if your online inventory doesn't reflect what's actually in store, why offer BOPIS at all? The tool exists precisely to bridge that gap -- using it poorly is worse than not using it. At a deeper level, this might be a mismatch between high-trust brand culture and a low-trust customer environment -- made worse by the fact that their own tools are clearly designed for low-trust interactions. That contradiction needs to be reconciled, not ignored. read more

Having recently experienced afternoon tea in London, I was inspired to walk into Lupicia, while shopping at A La Moana, to see what they had. To my surprise, they had many decaf options available which is right up my alley. Although Lupicia has many "display only" tea leaves, not all options are available as they are out of stock. For example, loose leaf decaf earl grey was out of stock. Bummer! However, the Decaf Muscat and Decaf Momo (peach) looked good. Although I could not sample these particular teas, Lupicia was serving samples of their "tea of the day" which was White Sangria which was served cold and it was delicious. When I asked the salesperson their recommended way of brewing, she admitted that she wasn't a loose leaf tea drinker and to look on the bag for instructions. After brewing a pot of Decaf Muscat at home, I have to say the tea was fragrant and flavorful. As for the Decaf Momo, I haven't tried it yet, but I have high expectations. At $16/50g, don't forget to bring your pocketbook. With every purchase, you get a tea bag to try. In my case, it was Tian Cha. read more

Came in because I was curious and there aren't a lot of stores specializing in loose leaf tea. The selection was incredible, and thats apparently when they're low on stock? Definitely will be back for their Momo Oolong Super Grade because it tastes and smells amazing. Now why is this review 2 stars? The associate that helped me had kind of a standoffish personality, she just didn't seem very into helping me and oh. My God. She smelled awful. I was trying to smell the tea leaf samples but all I could smell was armpit and , if you get me. Not what I want in my nose when I'm shopping for aromatics, and definitely not an enjoyable experience while shopping in general. I frequent Ala Moana where the store is located so but I'll definitely be peeking through the windows before I come in to make sure she isn't making the place smell like a hotboxed gym first. TEA -- The tea here is amazing. What I like about this place is that there are tins placed across the store, that you can open so you can smell how that particular tea smells like. This gives you an idea how that tea may taste. They also offer matcha powder but because of the worldwide shortage, they don't always have it in stock. I've tried their cheapest option for matcha and I was honestly impressed with the quality of it, despite it being not 'ceremonial grade.' SERVICE -- The workers are generally nice. I've had loose leaf tea that I'd requested to be transferred on a tin can container, which they give you an extra charge of about $2. Because of the matcha shortage, you would need to request to be put on a waitlist to be able to get your hands on it. The first time that I've asked to be put on a waitlist, the older lady was nice about it. But the second time, on other day, a younger lady made it a bit confusing -- I'm not even sure if I am on the waitlist or not. AMBIANCE -- The place is organized. Though they have tables that display their featured tea, my favorite part about the store is the long bar across the wall that has all the tea selection in tins. You are able to open each tin to smell it to get a sense, an idea of how the tea will taste like. It makes tea selection a bit more efficient if you don't care too much about presentation and care more about the tea itself. read more

Everytime I come here it's like I am in a tea museum. Always in an awe. The smell is so calming and I just wanna stay here the whole time. I adore this tea shop in Ala Moana Center on the Lanai side. They got plenty of choices when it comes to flavor from loose to bag. Unique flavors like ratatam, matcha black soybean rice tea & their Hawaii exclusive teas. They also sell tea pots & serving cups which is by the way very pretty in which some are made in Japan. I love teas and I always get their green tea & chamomile when I'm here. I also tried their matcha & elderberry. They are pretty tasty and love the pure flavor. The staffs here are nice and would love to assist you when you need one. Tea lovers out there you need to check this out. I am sure there will be always something that you will love here. Mahalo & happy juandering fellow Yeeps! read more

Hi I'm Brigitte and I have a tea addiction! Haha, admitting an addiction is the first step. I guess I could have worse addictions. Sooo I have to always scope out the local tea places and read reviews to see where I'm going to go. This place was top of my list and I made a shopping list of what I wanted before I went. Which actually helped because the staff member that helped me out was able to explain which ones I'd like better based on flavor I was looking for. I ended up getting the Paradise Green and the Momoko. I couldn't wait to try so I opened the paradise green. It's so delicious. Has great flavor. Light tropical taste. Love it. Be sure to follow directions for brewing. Also got a cute mug and some tea strainers. Upon entering this store it's amazing. Bright and beautiful! Smells great and is very organized!! They are pricey but it's great quality! read more

I go here because I don't really.habe anywhere else to go. They have tons of different teas and too many employees. They are always busy packing or unpacking something but none of them seems to know much about tea. If you ask, they get snobby, but can't answer questions about the teas. It is also rather expensive compared to what I've been able to buy in other countries. Still, I enjoy loose leaf teas and don't like the prepackaged teabags. I like to brew my own Chai, milk tea with a strong assam, etc. They also have a nice collection of teacups. If anyone has another tea shop, send me a dm so I can check it out read more

This is one fancy tea shop and the prices definitely reflect that. You can find whatever kind of tea you want here. They have it all including a chocolate and strawberry tea. I usually just get the green tea or chai tea. I haven't really tried anything else. I have to say that their teas are smooth like butter. I guess you get what you pay for. I've always gotten good service. They always ask if I need help finding anything and make suggestions. They're also good at giving samples of tea to take home and try. read more

Lupicia lovers from Japan will enjoy the Hawaii exclusive flavors, which come in 10 tea bag boxes or custom tins. The Hawaii exclusives also come in gift wrapped boxes if you're giving these out as omiyage. Lupicia launched a new rewards program this year that gives you back a percentage at your next purchase. The current promotion is $5 off for new rewards members. It's well worth the effort of signing up. Just make sure you remember to give your rewards information because it's an entire journey claiming rewards retroactively. Pay close attention to sales that occur a few times a year. I'm not really a tea drinker, but I get dragged along to every tea shop within a 50 mile vicinity of wherever my wife is at... This place is located in the downstairs garage area of the Ala Moana center. I had never heard of it, but my wife apparently had so off we went! Walking in, the location is lighted really well and you immediately see the wide assortment of teas (both packaged and in bins so you can pick and choose tog et what you want packed. They also have an assortment of tea accessories like steepers, pots, and other knickknacks that I have no clue about. The employees were helpful and gave the wife a few recommendations. All in, it was a good experience. I don't know much about teas, but I'm sure there were varieties available that you cannot normally get elsewhere, which is why I got dragged here. BTW, they offer online shopping as well so you can order teas if you can't or won't ever fly to Honolulu! read more

Good service from Lupicia staff. Bought assorted gift pack, local honey and tea bags for omiyagi. Got free sample.

My dad and my grandpa are avid tea drinkers. More so my grandpa. Whenever he goes to Guangzhou each year, he'll always visit his favorite tea shop and buy a lot of tea. His suitcase was half tea and half clothes lol. His favorite is Tieguanyin. He'd purchase the same tea from different areas. I was there for one of his visits! My dad's favorite is pu'er. He doesn't drink often, but collects them. The longer, the better. If you've had 50-year old pu'er, you know what I'm talking about. You can't get 50-year old pu'er here (anywhere trustworthy...anyway), but you can get your regular pu'er or tieguanyin and a vast amount of other teas at Lupicia located in the Ala Moana Shopping Center, center, ground level, facing Target. You can't miss it! I've been to Lupicia several times, but never purchased anything for myself since I have great sources for tea. This store hasn't changed at all since the first day it opened many, many years ago. It was here before the expansion! Very organized, spacious, bright, and clean. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and helpful. Almost every single employee asked us if we were doing okay. It's been a while since I stepped foot into this store, and you have to appreciate the vast selection of teas from different parts of the world. Every tea is (was, due to covid) displayed with information. You used to be able to smell the tea from canisters. We got a green tea, and a couple of herbal teas. The aroma is strong and pleasant. The taste of them is very clean and fresh. Overall, Lupicia is a one of a kind store in Hawaii with so many selections of tea. You can purchase single loose pouches or in tea bags. Prices are acceptable. Service is excellent. Tea has many benefits! read more

I stumbled upon this store on the way to Nijiya, but I found the interior to be very aesthetically pleasing so I made a detour inside. I didn't realize this was a tea store, and it had a crazy extensive selection of black teas and green teas! There were so many different blends for purchase including sizing, loose leaf vs tea bags, and packaging. You can tell that this store cares very much about their tea because each package has very specific instructions for steeping. Everything smelled absolutely amazing! I personally loved that there were so many interesting fruit variations. I spent a long time browsing and ended up purchasing some of their exclusive Hawaiian tea blend tins and a Lychee barley tea as souvenirs for my family. The staff were very attentive and helpful when I had questions about blends and retrieving the tea. This is a great spot for tea enthusiasts! read more

Lupicia - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

This is one of those SMH moments where I've been checking in on Yelp, drinking their teas and haunting their online website for years without writing a review....YEARS! What is wrong with me? Why have I not written anything about one of my favorite shops on the entire planet before?! What's not to love about having an entire store dedicated to tea, and every single type of tea you can imagine, with a ton of different flavors including one of my all-time faves Red Pepper Oolong (great when you are feeling sick) and Jingle Bells, which only comes out around Christmas time (black tea, champagne, fruity flavors). I brew Jingle Bells by the pitcher-fulls and my teenager drinks the whole thing, it's that good, and I don't even use sweetener. Lupicia Hawaii store also has limited edition Hawaii-only flavors, like Anela, Huaki, Lanikai, Kuuipo, etc, which are pretty as they are flavorful: sprinkles of dried flowers, fruits, herbs and tiny sugar beads in some of the blends. Aside from teas, there are gift sets, honey, tea pots, cups, matcha tea ceremony supplies, pitchers and accessories. If you are new to tea or just venturing out, don't be afraid to reach out to the sales associates; they are super friendly and can guide you to the right tea-match based on your taste preferences. read more

I have one from else where but they sell one in store. They also sell teabags for if you aren't the type to have all the accessories of tea material or if you just want to bring to work. They have plenty blends of flavored tea. My favorite is green tea. Sometimes I love the one melon green tea. Sometimes I'll get the "yummy" which is a black tea and you can add milk to make milk tea. 5 Stars for Lupicia Teas! Thumbs down for customer service, current staff and stale environment. Have you ever walked into one of the worlds most expensive tea shop and gotten the 'my poop don't stink' face from a worker? Come to Lupicia and experience that! It's customer non-excellence! These days, customer service seems to be on the back burner. It seems to me, that these retail zombies just stand there getting paid. Why don't you be grateful for having a J-O-B? Lupicia corporate LISTEN UP!!! This piece of real estate is $$$$ at Ala Moana. When I was in Japan, I used to buy their tea constantly but honestly I had no interest to buy their tea here because I couldn't assume there is one made in Hawaii. However once I had Hawaii limited flavored tea, I changed mind 180 degrees. Cold oolong tea with tropical fruits hint was so delicious. No bitterness and just fresh light fruity flavor left in my mouth. Very refreshing. The cashier gave me a sample tea bag too. As a tea addict, I switch between Ito En and Lupicia Tea. Lupicia has a large selection of teas, with my favorite being the momo oolong super grade. All of the teas I've tried thus far have a gentle and delectable taste and aroma. You'll notice that all the bad reviewers are anti-maskers or those who refuse to give good reviews unless their tea products are less than $1 (broke much.....), while the good reviewers are tea connoisseurs and enthusiasts, and normal people. That should tell you enough about the Lupicia tea quality, right? ;) read more

I wasn't going to write a review at first because Jules and I were just stopping by to look. After receiving stellar service, I felt compelled to tell you about our experience... Wandering around Ala Moana Shopping Center can be draining. This is the world's largest outdoor mall! Searching for a healthy refreshment, Jules and I turned to tea. We each had received a tin of green tea from Lupecia from Randy S. and we both enjoyed it! Lupecia has so many varieties of tea from all over the world. The tea comes loose in a sealed bag, loose in a package in a tin, or already bagged for your convenience. Some teas were flavored with chocolate, cookies, ginger, etc. There were about 200 variations, including exclusive Hawaiian teas! Each tin is labeled and you can open the container to catch the fragrance! The service is really amazing. We were warmly greeted and offered samples. Jules wanted to try two flavors and they made us fresh, hot samples right there! Wow! I was so impressed! I'll have to do some research and figure out which one I want to get next, so I'll be back! read more

Bought tea before last year. Tea was great! Service was excellent. However, on Nov. 8, 2024, I wanted to get more of their great tasting tea. Signs say they open at 10:00 AM, I had a flight to catch at 1:00 PM, with Honolulu traffic and TSA and car return traffic, anyone who has been in Honolulu airport would agree I would be pushing it if I waited until they opened. However, I waited while the staff went about setting up their holiday displays while multiple waited for the store to open. But instead of opening the store and making a sale, they decided to tell the waiting customers, who were already watching the employees setup boxes of tins of tea that they wouldn't be opening for another 30 mins. At this point i couldn't afford to wait any longer. If i was the manager i would open the store for the waiting customers, especially if I was told that had to catch a plane to make their purchases and if they could avoid the section the employees were actively setting up (if they were concerned about bystanders getting hurt or people stealing). But hey, who am I but just a customer who wanted to get some tea before heading home. True they have a web-site but do I want to support a company with this type of customer service? read more

Being a newbie when it comes to tea preparation and drinking I thought coming to Lupicia would be a great idea..... Lupicia located on the Mauka street level side of the Ala Moana Shopping Center, close to the Keeaumoku entrance. As you walk into Lupicia you'll notice the wide variety of teas, I mean huge! I was in search of a tea to drink in the morning instead of coffee, just didn't need that caffeine blast and felt better sipping on tea while easing into the day. Since I have been drinking and enjoyed black teas in the past, this is what I was planning on purchasing. Service wasn't what I expected coming from a place specializing in teas. Maybe because I was being helped from a new worker, he couldn't answer any of my questions.. Hey I'm the newbie! I did request to sample two teas that I was interested in before I made made a purchase and found out that they'll only let you sample only one, I found that strange. What I did end up buying was 50g loose leaf tea of Earl Grey OP, found it really mild, delightful and a very enjoyable tea to drink. Also picked up a labeled tin to place the tea inside, perfect size for 50ml of loose tea. My expectancy coming here was to get great customer service and get a little education on the vast variety of teas they carry, but that didn't happen. I'll be back to try more and hopefully experience some of their knowledge about the products they carry....crossing my fingers! *Overall 3.5Stars...3 for Service and 4 for the Tea quality. read more

I'm in Heaven...Tea Heaven, that is. It's just great to have a loose tea store at Ala Moana Shopping Center...Lupicia has the globe and a full variety of flavor profiles covered. Being of Chinese descent, I grew up drinking tea...green leaf(Long Jing), pungent, highly-caffeinated black leaf, Oolong leaf, Pu-erh and Jasmine scented tea leaves. Admittedly, I'm not a connoisseur but I adore having a perfectly-brewed, hot cup of tea after a Chinese meal or just for its calming, relaxing properties. My family home always had jars or pressed disks of tea leaves around. Even herbal teas were present and were often brewed and consumed whenever a health issue arose. Well, just walking into Lupicia, my senses were piqued. The teas are stored and displayed in a clean and relaxing environment. I suddenly felt like trying everything they had to offer! Alas, trying everything in one visit is physically impossible so I settled on sampling a few. The staff is very attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant. I was attracted to and ended up with 2 of the Hawaii flavored teas such as Hoku (a pineapple and guava flavored Taiwanese Oolong) and Hanalei (banana flavored Rooibos tea with coconut flakes and yellow petals).
