I went with a group to Llywelyn's. I pondered over the menu and decided on Shrimp Pub Curry. Glad I did. Now I'd never order meatloaf but, my friends entree of meatloaf was only a sliver. Have some meatloaf with your mashed potatoes. My other friend had Shepard's Pie and it cold in the middle. So food was iffy. They do have a very nice French Dip sandwich. I would return to order it. I think their appetizers are way too expensive. For dessert I had Gooey Butter Cake. Did you think I'd pass on that? Still doesn't hit the St. Louis mark. The service was really good. I'd return for the grilled cheese (minus the tomato bisque, why ruin it) or the French Dip. Other than that and the Pub Curry being delicious, Llywelyn's isn't one of my faves. read more

Waitress was great! Food, no. 4 of us. 125 plus tip. Son and I got the pot roast. The meat was all white fat. The bowl had a small dollop of mashed potatoes, 2 cups of gravy, probably a cup of peas and carrots then the fat. I mean there were 12 pieces of fat and 2 of edible meat. I would have preferred meat instead of fat and maybe some bread to help fill my belly maybe?! My son is 24 and he just eats everything. Hubby has the steak sandwich was very lack luster for $20. The sandwich was half full, about 10 fries. Son's GF had the fish and fries. Everyone was snacking on the fish she didn't eat because we were still hungry. We ordered pretzels, and dang....for the price there were 3. My old fashion was good but clearly overpriced for the amount and an orange peel thrown in. Last time I was here I got the Shepard's Pie and it was not very tasty. I decided to wait to review until I tried the restaurant one more time. This time I had the Cobb salad. It was good but they forgot the turkey which is a key ingredient to a Cobb Salad. They then brought me a side plate of turkey so that was good I guess. Overall was good. Great food, great atmosphere! This pub has both a dining-in restraunt and an outdoor bar area with tables and umbrellas. It's adorable and it's something different than the usual pub/grill on 3rd st. It was a great setting for lunch with the simple menu and limites choices. I wouldn't pick it for dinner though. There is enough food and drink options on the menu to suit most people's appetite but it wasn't too extensive. What they do have on the menu is GREAT. But if you are looking for lots of choices, this isn't your place. It's simple, and I liked that. Even the music playing in the background was good. Tried it out for the 1st time today and I will definitely be going back. Was walking around downtown Lee's Summit with my dog today and was disappointed that many of my favorite food places don't allow dogs in their "outdoor seating." Strolling down 3rd street and found this pub with outdoor dining and an outside bar. We thought we would give it a try. It was FANTASTIC. I ordered the cod fish and chips. It was delicious! Honest Review I tried Llewelyn's for the first time today, I will say that I had it delivered, but that was taken into consideration before I wrote this. Since I was trying someplace new, and in a pinch I might add, I ordered something safe. I ordered the "Adult Grilled Cheese," with a side of Tomato Bisque and Mac and Cheese. I also ordered Bread Pudding bites. The Good: The Grilled Cheese was really good, like when I want grilled cheese and I'm at work, I know where to go. The Tomato Bisque was really good and went so well with the Grilled cheese. (What better pair is there?) The Bad: The Mac and cheese was SOOO Salty. Like I eat salt and vinegar chips and love them, but it was too much for me. I know when cooking pasta, you're suppose to salt the water a lot, but yeah it was ruined. The Mixed: The Bread Pudding bites had good flavor, but they were like hockey pucks. Again, I ordered via Door Dash, so the time it took from Prep, To Delivery, To consuming was considered. I will say that I will try them again, at the restaurant, because I normally hate raisins in my bread pudding, but with theirs it was good flavor. We've eaten here like three times before and never had problems. Once on a Saturday night when they were packed and still got our food quickly. Though my biggest complaint is how loud the music is you can hardly hear and talk to the other people in your party. But we went a few Friday's ago and the place wasn't that busy we got seated within 10 mins, but they did have two big parties there. But this last time the service was sloooow. And we waited almost an hour and 1/2 for our food. Meanwhile we watched people who came in after us, ordered after us and left before we ever got our food. We had ordered drinks so we were afraid if we left we'd be accused of dining and dashing or something. We had to talk to the bartender to get a manager, cause our waitress like disappeared, she never came back to our table and avoided eye contact. We complained after we'd be waiting an hour that we still didn't have food. He said the kitchen got slammed and sometimes "complicated" orders take longer. Mind you we got soup, a burger, wings and pot roast and Mac n cheese. You know they're not making the pot roast or Mac n cheese fresh. The Mac n cheese was dry as the Sahara, no longer creamy and amazing as before. Will be hard pressed to ever go back. read more

We went there for beers and simple pub food. The servers were friendly and charming and the atmosphere was nice, but the Fish and chips were the worst I have ever had! Fish tasted like nothing, the batter tasted like cardboard and the sauce was awful. After my friends wedding rehearsal we had our dinner here and the food to a pretty long time to come out. Some people's came fast and then some, me being one of them, took so long that almost everyone was done eating already. After my food finally came the order was completely wrong. I got bone IN wings and they gave me boneless. I told her it was wrong but I'm to hungry to wait another 40 minutes for the right order. She did nothing to say sorry for the mistake. Like she didn't even say sorry. While the food was still alright, I'm just annoyed I didn't get what I ordered and that it took soooo long and that I'm basically eating by myself while everyone else waits for me and 3 other people to finish. Most the time when a restaurant gets an order very wrong they immediately offer to fix it or offer to take it off your tab. So maybe next time this happens this action will be taken. read more

This was my first time at Llywelyn's Pub and I must say that the patio area is what brought us in at first. The food was decent. I think it has potential to be great, but it's missing some flavor. I had the fish and chips, but the fish was a bit overcooked and dried out. The french fries were delicious and my friend really enjoyed her chicken wrap. Oh my word!!! This place is Awesome My husband and I have been on a city-wide tour to taste the Impossible Vegan burger at every restaurant in the city. Llywelyn's is the best for three reasons. 1. The patty is juicy with a nice crisp. 2. The have an egg-free brioche bun (first place that actually has a vegan bun to go with the vegan burger.) 3. Waffle Sweet potato Fries! Need I say MORE!! If I could give zero stars on the food I would. If you are only going for the bar you won't be disappointed . No issues with the bar or overall service. The food is straight up garbage. Last night ordered a "nacho" made from potatoes. The concept was fine. Still have zero idea what the leathery meat was on top. We were a table of 5 and we maybe ate half. Then we had Rueben sandwich. Not good. This is literally the only place I have ever not finished a Rueben because it was just not good. Was not even properly toasted. Last time we went my burger was charred. While the service and food was reasonable to good, be forewarned that if you don't see a price on the beer/beverage list, ask before you order. The restaurant shows prices for the "bud/busch/miller/coors" offerings, but not for what they refer to as "craft beers". I ordered a Boulevard Whiskey Barrel Stout, available in many stores for $14 for 4-pack, and was charged $11.75 a bottle, an approximate mark-up on a STORE PRICE of over 330%. In my opinion and others in my group, this is unreasonable and a hidden ploy since they don't show prices. Again, in my opinion, such practices are the epitome of "highway robbery". I brought this to the attention of our server and the night manager, basically suggesting that if they are going to charge such prices, they need to show them on their beverage menu so the customer is not duped into paying what he would deem an unreasonable price, as I was. The night manager spent no time asking how he could improve the situation (a discount, meal voucher, additional beverage). Rather, he wanted to convince me (debate) it was related to the alcohol % (you can get a glass of good bourbon at a upscale bar for less than this price) as well as other BS factors like the availability of the product (it is everywhere in KC and also St. Louis) and they don't get wholesale prices (but certainly far less than store price for average joe cool). He essentially talked down to me as if I did not understand alcohol content and was dismissive regarding my math comparing prices. He appeared to have no interest in my suggestion to put prices of all beverages on the menu. Ultimately, he needs a strong lesson in customer service. For the same price point, I'd rather visit the many establishments in KC that have similar beer selections but operate in a more straightforward manner. read more

Steak Sandwich was not something I could recommend. If you are going to offer a steak sandwich the steak has to be a really good piece of steak. Llywelyn's steak sandwich was not that. The steak was chewy and tough to eat. It was chunks of steak which should have been easier to bite into and separate but that was not the case. The cut of steak had a lot of tendons in it which made it really tough to chew. The bread was good and so were the sweet potato fries, but stay away from the steak sandwich. read more

This is a good place to be social. Nice bar and patio area for meeting friends. Foods pretty good waitstaff are generally friendly. The bartenders are usually pretty experienced at making whatever you order. The ambiance and the whole scene is laid back and relaxing. On weekends there is live music in the patio area. When the weather is nice it's a cool place to sit out and have a drink. read more

Headed to Llywelyn's on St. Patrick's Day. Sounded appropriate. We got a table and the waitress hands us the menu. It is limited because as she explains, it is a busy day for them. No deviations from their limited menu. No children's menu but, hey we are flexible. She comes back to take our order and we all are having Ruebens. Wait for it! She then tells us they are out of corned beef and it will take one hour to cook. Corned beef is about half of the menu items on their limited menu. It is 1:30 pm on Sunday, they have been open about 2 1/2 hours and they run out of Corned Beef on St. Patrick's Day. This place is 3 restaurants wrapped into one. Front or main portion, middle bar (huge) where they have live entertainment then arguably one of the best (huge) outside bars and patios. All three areas have completely different atmospheres. You can bring your kids to the front and not worry about local bar patrons slipping the occasional curse word. When you don't have the kids come for happy hour the prices and selection are hard to beat anywhere in Lees Summit. The servers are always polite and helpful (and extremely attractive). Hadn't had a decent long island tea since AJ left El Ranchero. She'd told me she was coming over to Llywelyn's so I was anxious for the opening. I was disappointed to find her working as a server. Granted I've never owned a restaurant but it seems to me if you've got a talented bartender, you'd want her behind the bar. Anyway, I was there and gave it a shot. I knew I'd like the fish & chips as I've eaten at the Kansas location. But, I wanted to try something more unusual so I went with the Shepherd's pie. And, since I love freshly cooked potato chips I ordered them as an appetizer. I liked the thickness and degree to which they were cooked but the chips were bland. I added a bit of salt, meh... I sprinkled some malt vinegar on them which gave them a pop, but since I'm not a huge vinegar fan, I went ahead and ordered a side of the welsh rarebit cheese sauce. When I've had it before I enjoyed it's distinctive flavor. But, their's was also rather bland. I think it's the first time I've ever not finished my freshly cooked chips. Sigh ... I also had the Shepherd's pie and it was good. I'm not a huge curry fan and was surprised to taste curry but it wasn't so overpoweringly strong that I couldn't eat it. I frequently go to the location they have in St. Charles area. I ordered the same dish I usually order, and it came out totally different. In the St. Charles location the chicken salad sandwich is served twice the size and on a flaky croissant. Here, it was skimpy and on white bread... And also received half the fries we usually get at the other location. I'm assuming it's bc they're newly opened, but I hope they get they're menu straightened out. I've been back and feel it's time to update the review. I am now a fan. The soups are incredible. My favorite lunch is 1/2 sandwich and a cup of soup - the chicken chili to be exact. I also like the curry chicken over chips. It's wacky but delicious. Service at lunch is fast and the food quality is excellent. We sat outside on the patio. They had a DJ who was doing music bingo. That was fun but afterwards the music was cranked so loud it was hard to talk. Thankfully the server agreed with us and they turned the music down. I had a pretzel but didn't care for the cheese sauce. I just got one piece and it was the perfect size for an app. I had the grillled chicken salad and it was really good...it hit the spot. DH had the meatloaf. It was good but he got a ton of green beans. He loves them but this was "the whole can".
