It has all the personality of a neighborhood dive bar and all the best things you love about your favorite karaoke bar. Because, yeah, this is a karaoke bar. And it's a great one. But karaoke is not what makes Water's Edge a great bar. It's not even the food, which by the way is phenomenal (try the pepper jack cheese cubes!). What makes Water's Edge a great bar is what makes any bar great - it's the bartenders. Daniel was engaging, friendly, funny, and -- most importantly -- he actually appeared to love his job. The crazy thing is that attitude seemed to permeate the staff, even as the night went on. (Cause yeah, of course we stayed.) And that, my friends, is evidence of one thing - a good boss. After meeting Ozzie, her infectious enthusiasm and charm made it clear to us that she IS the reason Water's Edge is now our go-to for every future visit to the KC area, and we may even be so bold as to claim it as our own neighborhood bar, as long as it's cool that we consider it a pretty big neighborhood. So we were in town for holidays and decided to go to closest bar to where we were staying......SUPER DISAPPOINTING!! I know we were at a bar but every other restaurant and bar we've gone into from KC to Las Vegas is following Covid guidelines!! The place was packed not a mask in sight, no social distancing people crammed around bar....I was shocked!! We had 1 drink.....from a bottle, over heard one group talking about having Covid no symptoms though....then while leaving we had to walk by a group of at least 6 people we saw inside literally in a circle passing a joint literally in front of next door business on walkway!! ......no way is any of this acceptable!! First off let me admit that I was in there a bit early, around 7:00pm. The average age was about 55. Including the staff. That might be due to the time. The beer selection is a bit sparse, hope you like bud or miller, and the bartender working seemed like it was too much trouble to pause for a second, and make sure a new person knew what they had. After my beer sat empty for awhile, another girl finally asked if i wanted something...granted i could ask, but customer service dictates that they should be on top of it. Prices and happy hour length is unbelievable. For a little Pub the food and drinks are truly incredible. Customers and staff are friendly and welcoming. Lots of TV'S. Total lack of disrespect for the people running poker to run off 5 customers for showing up at 7:01pm for a poker game that started at 7pm.
