My family of three stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. We poked our heads in to see if there was an open table since it's a quaint spot. It worked out in our favor. My wife and I order fish and chips and shared them with our toddler. The portions were generous, leaving us satisfied. I do want to come back and try the Rueben sandwich since that's a personal favorite at an Irish pub. I'll save that for my next visit. It was fun to see all of the various Guinness options on the menu. I've had a black and tan many times, and I'm aware there's many more mixtures. Seeing those on the menu was entertaining. Stopped in on a Friday for lunch from a friend's recommendation, I have been to Parkville a bunch of times and somehow never knew this place was there. There were only 4 other people there when we were there, and with all the TVs behind the bar it was a great place to catch on of the matches on TV. Behind the bar sits an amazing selection of Irish liquors, that you don't see in a lot of places. I ordered The Dubliner which when it arrived at the table in a Gimblet Glass I made fun of, Until we tried it. This is a great cocktail and had a good amount of a punch it packs as well. For my food I ordered the Chicken Sammich which was a large portions and had great flavor. I am sad it took me this long to find this place but I have already planned another trip with friends.!!! read more

Reubens and Smithwicks? Count me IN! The inside is on the smaller side, so this was our second attempt at trying it out. We were able to snag a table and I am so glad we did. The Reuben was delicious and of course, I enjoy some Irish fair. The waiter was kind, but he forgot things quite a bit. What a quaint Irish pub!! We met here for a book club and they were able to put us in a back room separate from everyone else! It was actually very scenic with stone, but it did feel like a break room maybe? Still nice to have had a separate room! Food was great! Most my party went with fish and chips being a classic pub dish! My mom had me try her Shepards pie and it was delicious, I had never try it but it seems like the perfect fall dish for sure. I ordered the smash burger and it was good, the cheese was crunchy in some areas which I like but my bun was burnt just a little too much. Fries were phenomenal, perfect cut! The waitress even took our picture outside! We definitely come back in the fall to order their shepards pie. Great addition to downtown parkville! read more

I came here on a Friday evening. I was able to sit at the bar quickly and order my meal. For a Friday the place was quiet. I order the Reuben whenever I try a new restaurant, I mean you can't screw up a Reuben can you? These guys came close. Wasn't a big fan of the slices of meat, it was tough to chew through and made a mess of 1000 island, bread and meat on my plate. I still give them 4 stars because the servers were quick and friendly. We stumbled onto this place by accident. What a happy accident I tell you. We were house hunting north of downtown Parkville. We had heard how quaint this town is, and we decided to drive through. Not just drive through but decided to stop in at this Irish Pub where we had one of the best poutines to hit our belly. The best part of Craic was Steven, the bartender/creator and master!! Creating and putting a twist on everyday alcohol drinks and mastering new creations. I had a raspberry mojito that tasted like raspberry ice cream as well as Steven's famous hibiscus sour. The Craic is well themed and has tasty traditionally Irish drinks. But boy is it loud. The front being open means you hear EVERY freight train passing by. Update: I waited two years to go back and I thought I had posted an update, but I don't think it took, so here's the update. I went in there with another guest and sat at the bar- figured enough time had passed and we'd give this place another shot. There were maybe four other people in the entire restaurant and we did not go during a rush time. We sat down at the bar, were given menus and water, and that was that. We looked over the menus, picked out what we planned to order and waited.... and waited.... and waited some more. We definitely gave all of the non-verbal cues that we were ready to order including looking around and "stacking" the menus. We didn't want to scream toward the other end of the bar- HEY, over here, can you take our order please?! With almost nobody there and the bartender and/or waitress (they appeared to be taking care of the whole place) just standing at the end of the bar we finally just walked out. Will never go back between the first and second experience. read more

Friday night was our first visit to Craic (pronounced crack) in downtown Parkville. It translates for "fun." We were so impressed, we're coming back next weekend and have reserved their private dining room. The restaurant, which describes its menu as "delicious pub fare with a special Irish flair," opened in late 2019. Hard to believe my Irish wife hadn't suggested we go there before this weekend. They've done an outstanding job updating a historic space, while maintaining that old school feel. It's an intimate place that probably holds about 30-40 at tables and the bar. On Friday and Saturday nights they have live music. The guitarist loves to play your suggestions, and a nice tip doesn't hurt. We were warmly welcomed by Steve and Haley. They gave the history on the place, plus tips on ordering. My wife who loves Irish whiskey was in her element that evening. We started with the amazing Sprout Chips, which are blanched and fired Brussel Sprout chips. Forget what you think of Brussel Sprouts, you will love this. Next time I'm trying the Poutine, fries covered with melted cheese curd and mushroom gravy. Many diners on Yelp suggested the Reuben sandwich and my wife couldn't agree more. I decided to try the Fish & Chips during Lent and loved the Guinness battered Haddock. I wish Parkville had 10 more restaurants like this. If it did, the downtown would be rocking on the weekend. read more

We were immediately greeted by the guy behind the bar when we entered. This place has a cozy feel to it. It's not huge but you can tell there's a lot of love in there. The service was so prompt and handled with true care. You could just tell the people working actually enjoyed what they did. In a world where everyone is short staffed it felt good to sit in a place that felt the opposite. The food was amazing!!! Definitely homemade and definitely fresh. My fiancé and I were headed to a different restaurant when The Craic caught our eye. We are both large fans of pubs and decided to stop by. Worth the front window open and music coming from inside it had a very welcoming appeal. We waited in the foyer to be seated. We took our seats at the bar and got our menus. I ordered the Patty Melt which has two 3oz parties on it. The bread was amazingly toasted and the sauce and onions made the overall sandwich one of the best I've had at a pub. My fiancé had the shepherds pie and loved it! A good portion of meat complimented by a layer of carrots and topped with mashed potatoes. Overall the two meals were exceptionally tasty. I paired my melt with the house IPA which was great! It wasn't too bitter, as IPAs can be, and it had a good full taste. We will defiantly be stopping back for more delicious food!! read more

I was an original patron of the Craic when it opened a few years ago. After my wife had two experiences with food poisoning there, we stopped spending money at the Craic. After a change in ownership, I tried it out again, giving six months for the transition. Tonight, I was served raw lamb meat. This is not hard. Give your cooks a temperature gauge and use it. Really. Solve so many problems. Stay away from this place until they learn how to not poison people. read more

Myself and a couple of my fellow historical costumers were up in Parkville for cruise night. We were decked out in our 1940's,50's, and 60's best. We were looking for a place to cool down and grab a bite before going back to the car show. Let me start that our waitstaff was attentive and informative. For what we ordered it was good. I had a Guinness and some poutine fries. We were advised about some menu issues to some items, which helped us make the right choice. I would have given this establishment 4 stars if it wasn't for a member of the waitstaff that was just rude. We had finished our meal and wanted to use the bathrooms, we walked to the back and a very aggressive waitstaff came after us telling us we needed to pay for beer or food to use the bathroom, never mind we had been in the restaurant a good 30 minutes before this. I very curtly replied we were patrons and if they wanted to talk to our sever they should talk to the lady in the purple tank top. She never bothered with an apology. If this is how you address people who may, or may not have ate in your restaurant, you need to get someone in to train your staff on the right way to speak to people. A simple how was your food would have been a better way to gauge if we had already ordered. Needless to say I hope they see this review and address this staff issue. Update, they also apparently decided they could charge me for my bill, and someone else's. I had Poutine and a Guinness. My bank has been alerted and we are disputing your second charge on my debit card. That's another star gone! Update, they made it right a credited back the overcharge and my bill as well. First time visit. Great location in the very nice downtown Parkville area. Tavern vibe, wife really liked the Irish Whiskey Sour - on the tart side, liquor supplies the sweet. Had the fish and chips and the Reuben. Both were excellent, wife refused to share hers - enough said . Fish was crispy, Reuben was loaded. Server was prompt and attentive. They have a very nice collection of Irish whiskeys! I'm talking about a place in Parkville, called "The Craic," it's an Irish pub that's got a fairly nice selection of brews and a very nice selection of whiskeys, gins, vodkas and bourbons. Along with that they've got three whites and three reds when it comes to wines. And even though their food selection is somewhat limited what I saw it looked pretty darn good! From a standpoint of sandwiches, they've got a grilled cheese they call the Meltie, a Patty on a bun, along with Patty melt, and they also have a Reuben, and that is what I went with tonight. They also offer a Beef Stew and Fish & Chips. I got to see both of those serve tonight and both of them looked outstanding! The Reuben! They take a couple of slices of marble Rye, toast them, put a little 1000 island dressing on it, add some house made sauerkraut. lay down some Swiss cheese and top it with wagyu corned beef! This sandwich had all the flavors and the textures that typical Reuben would have. You bite into it you get the crispiness of the toasted bread and then a little bit of the creaminess of the cheese followed by the sweetness of the 1000 island the bite of the sauerkraut, and then the savory deliciousness of very tender corned beef. Tried this place again after a so-so experience 2 years ago. Both my wife & I ordered drinks. Got mine after a few mins but my wife's (a dirty martini) wasnt made for 5 mins, then sat at the end of the bar for 10 mins. Server not around & manager on her phone. Finally got her attention & got the drink. By then our food had arrived. Fish & chips-fish overdone-very dark brown almost black and lamb skewers also overdone and tough. Chips & drinks were good. Visited here for the first time for dinner tonight. It is a tiny little place, much smaller than I was expecting. It has a bar, and a few tables, and that's it. There was no where to sit when we got there, but people moved quickly. We were seated and served quickly. We both ordered Guinness, which came out just as expected. We ordered and shared the sprout chips and the Reuben with fries. Food had a good taste, but was very greasy. That would be my only complaint of the place- I wish the food was less greasy!
