This was our 2nd timing coming here. First time we only got drinks so needed a full experience. Both times we had fantastic service! We went for Trivia and had a blast! Again service was top tier. Our sever was very attentive and friendly. Burger was cooked very well and was fresh and juicy. Bun was fresh and toasted. All together was delicious and I'm looking forward in going back. Fries you could select multiple options. We had the pub fries and they were crispy and delicious. Beer selection is honestly probably the best in Lees Summit! They had a 4 hands on tap and it was fresh and delicious. Atmosphere was typical Irish bar and it was perfect. Bar is huge with 2 bar rooms and huge patio. Plenty of space for trivia too. Llewelyn isn't a girl I'd marry or commit to, but I'd take her on a few dates for sure. And I have, I've tried out this traditional Irish pub located in downtown Lee's Summit a few times. However, it's interesting to note it's never somewhere I sought out on purpose, I just always sort of end up there. Honestly, it's not my cuisine of choice, and I don't like Guinness much, but they have a good alternative selection of local craft beers- including a special exclusive brew from KC Bier Company (my memory could be off but I do know it was something that was local to kcmo and brewed solely for Llewelyn's. The drinks are where this pub tends to shine, and there's nothing wrong with that. The traditional appetizers aren't anything I'd order again except for the housemade chips, which are very thinly sliced and salty, but they're also a side you can add to the sandwiches. If you order them, make sure you order the side of cheese to dip and a side of horsersdish, if that fancies you. But, you can skip them. The fried pickles and the pub pretzels are quintessential bar appetizers that are executed okay, and if it's what you're craving, go ahead and order them, but don't expect to be impressed. Now, the sandwiches are pretty solid here. That is if you're not afraid to get a little bit messy because a lot of them, especially their take on an Irish Dip, are bound to fall apart and get your hands a little greasy. My tip is to make a trip during happy hour because my favorite thing on the menu is only available then. And that is the mini corned beef sliders served with a tangy (but not too spicy) giardiniera- if you ask nicely. These are nice little snack or light meal although, they could use some more melted cheese or horseradish because they're still a tad dry. Let's face it, Llewelyn could use a bit of a modern makeover, but, I guess what Irish pub do you know that isn't stuck in the past...and beyond dark inside? She fits the stereotype completely, but does that make her a good fit for you? That's what you have to ask yourself before you take Llewelyn out for a date yourself. read more

Llywelyn's Pub is a great spot to watch any big sports matches. I watched the playoffs for the Super Bowl here in 2023, and the crowd was so fun and lively. My Boyfrend and I were doing a staycation and decided to check out Llywelyn's one of the nights. We were greeted welcomingly when we walked in and seated right away despite them being quite busy. Our waitress was great, she was there enough for us to enjoy but not feel pressure. BF had a grilled chicken sandwich and skinny fries. He liked the fries and said they were cooked perfect but the chicken while having a nice char was chewy and over cooked. I had the adult grilled Cheese with sweet potato fries. I felt the sandwich could have used a little more toasting but the cheese was melted all the way. It was the cheesiest and thick and the side of tomato basil stuff was perfect. The sweet potato fries were also great, not too crispy but just perfect. The space we were in was great, as the booth was comfortable, high sided so we felt it was more us, and the space was not overcrowded with people. We will be back as the BF wants to try some other food. read more

Go hit the road of Lees Summit and you'll hear similar feedback about unfortunate below average experiences. Do I hate Llewelyn's because of it? No. Do I want the food experience to be better? We sat out on the patio on two different occasions. The first occasion the server dropped off the menus and then went and chatted with the bartender for 15 minutes. She completely forgot about us. So I walked up and got her and we finally got our order. She was bland and unfriendly. She was cold and mediocre. We just shrugged it off. These things happen. Eventually, we decided we'd give it another try. Again, patio. Our server seemed new. She didn't really greet us. Just dropped off menus and walked away. Ok.... She eventually came back for our order. I ordered the mac and cheese add bacon and chicken. My husband ordered the club sandwich. Food got dropped off. There was no chicken on the Mac and cheese. Oh well. I started to eat it anyway. 10 minutes later busboy comes out with a plate of dried cold chicken. I dump it on top of the Mac n cheese. I mentioned it to the waitress and she kind of laughed and said, "yeah, the cook forgot your chicken". It was cold and leathery. Lame. I kept trying to eat it but the Mac n cheese was pasty and salty. I wanted gooey, cheesy mac n cheese. This wasn't good. I finally just told my husband, "this is just not worth the $20. When the waitress stopped by to ask how everything was I told her "this mac and cheese is just not good. I really don't want it. Can we please take it off of the ticket?". She looked upset and unsure. "I guess...I'll have to ask a manager". Again, she may be new. Anyways, she dropped off the ticket and it was removed. She gave us zero interaction. I used to be a server. If anything like this ever happened I would say "I'm really sorry that the food didn't turn out how you liked it, is there anything I can do to help?" Or something of that nature. But she didn't apologize, she didn't say "we took it off for you." Nothing. She just dropped off the ticket with a very bland attitude. Overall the food was lame, service was slow and lame. Two strikes and you're out. Will not be going again. read more

Dropped by with some friends to this establishment for the very first time last night. It was almost impossible to get service despite bar staff chatting it up behind the bar. We were rudely told that we have to order from a server. Once we finally saw a server after sitting at a table for 10-15 minutes, she told us that we have to order from the bar. We stopped in for Lunch on Mother's Day. They were not busy at all. We ordered the Welsh Rarebit for an app and it served almost cool, but thankfully the bacon was crispy this time. We had to ask for silverware, napkins and appetizer plates. The little one and I split the adult grilled cheese with bacon and fries. The sandwich was large (enough for sharing) and very, very tasty. This is my first time trying this location while in town. Lees summit downtown is really cute, and this looks like a nice option where you can enjoy live bands outdoors on the weekend, or a quieter environment at booths/tables inside. When we walked in, they had lots of good deals for local and major breweries, notably boulevard ($5/selter, etc.). Booths were comfortable and service was great, our drinks were always full and our service consistently checked in to make sure that everything was OK. COVID-19 Update: Finally went back to see how Llywelyn's has survived the lockdowns and was very pleased with the results. Llywelyn's has been going through the same trials that others in the industry have had to battle. From all appearances the trend continues of fewer walk in diners and increased carryout / delivery. With the kitchen being run over with demand, wait staff has been reduced due to social distancing and lower demand.That said, while a bit slower, the quality and taste of their food much improved over my last visit. In fact they are now back on our go-to list! COVID-19 Considerations: Social Distancing is enforced, Masks required for staff and customers when not seated, Gloves are required for selected staff as appropriate, Dine in seating is available as is Carry Out, Curbside, and Delivery. Coffees, dark beers, whiskeys,... oops sidetracked! Anyway, this is another great representation. The dark wooden furniture and comfortable bar/pub atmosphere. The great pub fare that you expect. Is it authentic? Well no... it is Americanized like we do with everything else. But, you will find the Shepherds pies, fish, and chips, bangers and mash, etc... you will even find the Pub Curry there. Which is worth a shot. I stuck with Bangers and Mash as I was really feeling British at the time. (Don't ask) Our waiter was fun. And was happy to have him there taking care of us. The bartender was attentive, but not overly so. And makes a great Rye old fashioned. Pictured! I know what you're thinking... Rob! I went to Llywelyn's for lunch this week. It's a nice Irish style, pub fare, type of establishment in downtown Lee's Summit. I was determined to try the reuben, but having a weakness for queso (or basically any kind of melted cheese), I also opted for one pretzel stick with cheese sauce - because it was the right thing to do. The service was friendly and more than accommodating for a bartender who was serving the patrons at the bar and also working the floor. However, this seems to be a bit of a pattern at lunchtime with restaurants in downtown Lee's Summit. The area always seems to be busy enough that one server doesn't make sense, but I won't pretend to be a staffing expert so we'll move on. Back to my pretzel. It was soft, salty and crunchy in all the right places, with a light brush of garlic butter. The cheese sauce had a nice flavor too. It was a little gritty, but not enough to ruin the pre-meal snack. It was a mistake to order only one. The reuben came and was also good, it just didn't wow me. Fresh, soft rye bread with a generous helping of corned beef, kraut and thousand island dressing made for a respectable sandwich. I selected macaroni and cheese instead of fries, mostly because I'm a child, but also because I like cheese. We covered this already, but anyway it was a solid mac and cheese side dish with a delicious, creamy Gouda flavor. I ate every bite! I'm not ready to break out the bagpipes and dance the jig, but for my first visit, Llywelyn's, offered up a pretty decent lunch to make Irish eyes, or any eyes, smile. read more

They have a sign that says you can't use a card if your bill is under $10. Well one beer didn't meet that requirement so used the only cash I had. Waitress wasn't happy with her tip and decided to follow us out the door and tell us how terrible we are for not leaving her a big enough tip. Figure out your signage. I went with a group to Llywelyn's. I pondered over the menu and decided on Shrimp Pub Curry. Glad I did. Now I'd never order meatloaf but, my friends entree of meatloaf was only a sliver. Have some meatloaf with your mashed potatoes. My other friend had Shepard's Pie and it cold in the middle. So food was iffy. They do have a very nice French Dip sandwich. I would return to order it. I think their appetizers are way too expensive. For dessert I had Gooey Butter Cake. Did you think I'd pass on that? Still doesn't hit the St. Louis mark. The service was really good. I'd return for the grilled cheese (minus the tomato bisque, why ruin it) or the French Dip. Other than that and the Pub Curry being delicious, Llywelyn's isn't one of my faves. read more

The bowl had a small dollop of mashed potatoes, 2 cups of gravy, probably a cup of peas and carrots then the fat. I mean there were 12 pieces of fat and 2 of edible meat. I would have preferred meat instead of fat and maybe some bread to help fill my belly maybe?! My son is 24 and he just eats everything. Hubby has the steak sandwich was very lack luster for $20. The sandwich was half full, about 10 fries. Son's GF had the fish and fries. Everyone was snacking on the fish she didn't eat because we were still hungry. We ordered pretzels, and dang....for the price there were 3. My old fashion was good but clearly overpriced for the amount and an orange peel thrown in. Last time I was here I got the Shepard's Pie and it was not very tasty. I decided to wait to review until I tried the restaurant one more time. This time I had the Cobb salad. It was good but they forgot the turkey which is a key ingredient to a Cobb Salad. They then brought me a side plate of turkey so that was good I guess. Overall was good.
