Scotch Eggs in Leawood? Located in a suburban strip mall around 129th and State Line in Leawood, there is ample parking in the communal lot. Stepping inside the atmosphere is that of a real (modern) Irish pub, with a full bar and comfortable tables. An old wood and leather feel that sets the stage for authentic Irish fare. Having been to their restaurant in Westwood, I have to say that I like this location better - it just "feels" better. Being part of a group of about 20 for lunch, we were seated in a separate room which made socializing easy without bothering the other customers. After being welcomed by our waiter, menus passed out and drink orders taken, we were informed that their chef was from Dublan and that dishes were made fresh in-house. While I did see Scotch Eggs (I like to think of them as an Irish version of an Egg McMuffin) on the menu, I jumped on their Fish & Chips. The breaded North Atlantic Cod was moist and flakey at the same time, with a great flavor. Included was slaw, mushy peas, and their house cut fries (all very tasty). A dash of malt vinegar and a squeeze of lemon later and I was loving it all! Portions were all pretty large, so come hungry and expect to leave satisfied. Prices are well within expectations considering quality of service, food, and atmosphere. Having been a waiter "back in the day" I was impressed with the friendly and efficient service. Not once did I see anyone waiting overly long for drink refills or their meals. That is very comforting during these "post COVID" times of reopening and short staffing. Kudo's to all involved. It is nice to see a true Irish pub in the middle of Leawood. With this one and the one on Rainbow being about the same distance from my Lee's Summit home, expect to see me returning often. Fun atmosphere, nice people, good food. Not impressed with their fries but their sweet potato fries are really good. Their cheese curds are really good but they serve them with marinara- not my first choice. The French dip was good but the au jus was not good. Their fish and chips are really good and their ranch tastes homemade. The pea mash has like zero flavor and their coleslaw also has no flavor. Overpriced for sure. Sweet salmon was yuk but my teenage son really liked the salmon / lettuce / tomato sandwich. Their curry is pretty good. The Mac and Cheese was meh. Would go back though. read more

Ok I have to say that I was happily surprised with Conroys. It's hidden in the corner of a strip mall in Leawood on Stateline so you have to "look" for it. It was a slow time of day to go to a pub so the service was immediate and friendly. The floor stuck to our shoes which sounded unpleasant and the indoor area seemed dark. Our drink orders came out quickly and they have lots to offer! I was not only impressed with the drinks menus but the food options gave me a few "healthy" choices which was nice. This place was great! Super friendly staff all around and a really cool atmosphere, as others have said. Piano player on Friday night was fun to listen to. The bar and restaurant is decorated nicely (very pub-ish!) with a variety of seating for quieter areas if you want to be away from the music/bar. We were equally impressed by the food. A menu that has something for all, with good prices/portions. The fried pickles were not only some of the best ever (with crust that doesn't fall off), but we got practically a whole jar on the platter. My kids got the soft pretzel stick appetizers, which they gobbled with the pub cheese. I ordered a salad and turned it into a wrap, my hubs got the Irishman sandwich - SO much meat on it, and he said it was pretty good! One more thing- I ordered sweet potato fries and regular ones came out. Within a minute or so, they brought out a big bucket of the correct fries and let us keep the incorrect ones... that's great service. We'll be back! read more

I am so upset that no one is answering the phone after the fact that I called in and talked to someone about ordering a St Patrick's Day lunch for my Mom. They told me they would not take the order an hour early and I would have to call back. That right there is dumb and bad service. So, I called back after one hour and guess what?????....... All I get is voice mail and the voice mail tells you to keep trying. After 54 attempts, I am now really pissed that my 78-year old Mom won't be able to get her Cottage Pie & Potato Soup. Geez, what a terrible experience, bad business, and my poor Mom. All she wanted to do was have a good memory of her husband (my Dad) on his favorite day. Now, it was ruined. Not to worry, I will go to another establishment and never come back here. Word spreads like wildfire, good or bad. {UPDATE}....so my Mom decides to drive up there and see if she can get what she was so looking forward to today. The line to get a seat on the patio was very long. I don't typically have high hopes for Irish pubs (always envision greasy fish and chips and heavy sausage) but was pleasantly surprised by Conroy's. The grilled salmon was slightly well done but nicely flavored and the sides and sauce accented it nicely. We also shared the Irish nachos, and my husband had the leek and potato soup with grilled cheese. It was kid friendly with lots of local regulars coming in. My dine-in lunch experience was very good. The grilled chicken sandwich with side ($13) was served in just 9 minutes. The chicken patty was generously sized, juicy, and packed with flavor. The portion of fries was also generous. They were meaty, but greasy. I liked the newly remodeled interior, with a large bar, wood tones, 80's background music, free wi-fi, and a nice patio area. The service was somewhat friendly, and attentive. Menu items were pricey, but a few daily food and drink specials, as well as a happy hour (3-6 pm M-F) were available, although the lunch specials weren't about low prices, but about serving unique dishes, and there was no lunch menu. It was somewhat premium bar food at a premium price. Overall, very nice, but a very poor value. I'm thinking 3.5 stars and rounding down. read more

Are you like freaking kidding me?! How come I've never heard of this place?! Some friends sometimes meet for dinner suggested we try this place for supper. None have heard heard of it before in our group of five... It was a cold and rainy night... And when we got to what on the outside looks like your basic strip mall restaurant... We were transferred in to a public house atmosphere with a piano player and happy people all around. Not loud. Not crowded. Just people obviously enjoying themselves. The hostess came up to us as we waited and apologized that they just had two unexpected large groups come in... But said she'd figure out something for our group of five. While we were waiting someone else checked to make sure we were being taken care of... And we said we were. Soon we were in a large booth with a chair at the end. The menu warns that the food does not come out fast as it is being cooked for you. Our waitress came and got our drink order and made sure we were set to go. While she was getting out drinks... We got checked on again to make sure we were being taken care of . . . Assured that we were... And soon the drinks arrived. They didn't rush out two inquisitive people who were still pondering the menu. Then our order was taken and we had time to chat. The food arrived on huge plates hot and fresh. I tried the smashed peas.. If you like peas... And I do. They were delicious as a side. I got the Irishman sandwich with slaw. The show was standard. The sandwich was absolutely delicious. My daughter got a pesto pasta and loved it. We also got a club sandwich and a couple of chicken fried chicken plates. The food was just so comforting. We were checked on the right amount of times as we ate and talked. The plates were properly cleared and I ordered the bread pudding which is big enough to share but I did not. Lots of cinnamon and a very dense pudding texture. Almost like a thick flan Totally different than anything I've had but so very good We weren't rushed to leave. We were able to sit and talk. The prices edge up but are reasonable for what you get considering other restaurants. I haven't felt this attended to for a long time. I don't know if I wish this place were next door to my house or glad that it's not so handy.. As I'd be here a lot of this experience was the norm. Definitely would be my go to place and cost me some coin cause I'd be eating out more. The menu offers a lot of choices. I literally can't wait to come back. Yeah... We left and it was still a cold and rainy night... But we were warmed from our lovely time here. They have 2 other locations on the Kansas side... One in Overland Park and another in Westwood. Met friends here for a Saturday night dinner. Had a great waitress that promptly greeted our table and got our drinks started. We ordered a couple appetizers-the Brie board and the sausage rolls. Both were delicious. For dinner we ordered the chicken fried chicken, fish and chips, cottage pie, and corned beef. We all loved our meals! The service was top notch. This was sooooooo good. Everything was good! The service was good (thank you, Rhonda!), we were promptly seated, the drinks were plentiful, and the food was amazing. This is literally like a pub in Ireland (without the music... but hey it's COVID so.... not too surprising). Several people working there are Irish as well which is probably why. Multiple rooms, all wood, very cozy. I ordered the pork tenderloin and substituted mushed peas for the broccoli (broccoli in general = ick for me) and it was PHENOMENAL! My friend ordered the steak and Guiness pie and also loved his food. There were plenty of Irish beers/ciders/whiskeys to choose from as well. We're both just visiting, but we will also both be back!!! My only complaint is that TENNIS was on instead of the Stanley Cup playoff game where my Bolts were playing (!!!????).
