In response to the owner of Liz nails: I've been getting manicures and pedicures for over 20 years. I've left lacquer and gel polish on my nails for well over 6 weeks and not once did I experience crumbling nails or my nail bed separating from the nail. Not only is that not an appropriate response to a long time customer reporting a health issue but it's speculative. I did a fair amount of research before leaving that review - so I'm not placing blame erroneously. I took into consideration where I'd been, what I may have exposed myself to, I compared my nail growth to the nail growth of my partner who did not get a pedicure at Liz Nail spa. As much as I enjoyed going to this salon in the past - especially for nail technician, Zoey, I don't think I'll be back. I went in today and I won't be coming back. It was cool they gave me last minute appointment. When I went in, I took a look at the menu price, I was woah it's a bit pricey and also saw that three types of different shape would cost $10 more. I've never heard of that. My nail tech Lan I believe said I get what I pay for. Fine. I got gel x and honestly I had a design and it was literally a flower. $10 for each flower/finger. what the freak!! And cat eye $20 more. I've never paid over $10 for cat eye. And I didn't want the gel X to be that long. To be fair she did show me short and extra short but when she put the short one on. I thought it was a bit long and I asked if she could file a little more because it's too much and she's like it's gonna cost me more or whatever. I've never had a problem with other places when I asked to file it more because of length. I'll never go back. Ever. read more

I came here to get my nails done now the experience was not the the best but was not the worst. It was a little expensive more than It should be. As the woman was doing my nails she started filing her nails as well and then Used it on me after using it. The charms were $5 each even the little ones which were pretty expensive. I went to get a pedicure and during the process the exfoliating thing was painful and i never felt that for a pedicure. I came home and realized my feet were hurting and i see cuts and scrapes. I am so upset because i scar really easily. I should've never came back cause the last time i came they were removing my gel nails with a metrocard and it hurt too. NEVER come here if you want to protect your nails and feet. I'm reposting this review because somehow it got removed yesterday on google. I spent 200 on 2 pedicures it's just crazy. Not only did the lady ignore us but after we said we didn't have an appointment but I was trying to get my daughter a kids gel manicure and the sign didn't mention that it was age based. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great nail salon. They are masters of their skills. Everyone was so nice and professional. Everything was clean and they used new tools while doing my nails which I appreciated. They accommodated me when I missed my original appointment time. I've gotten my nails done at many places and have never been happier with the outcome than at this salon. It's small but they have a lot of staff working and no one had to wait more than maybe a few moments to be sat. They also had many color options which I loved. I haven't had a mani pedi since last Fall. I was looking for something in Flushing and found Liz Nail and Spa. I called and it's $30 for a mani pedi, which is a good price. It was well rated on Yelp and when I made the appointment I was told to use the parking behind Hmart and could enter in the back from the parking lot. They exceeded my expectations:-) Lots of parking and I walked right up and got a great mani/pedi from Esther and then paid $9 for an eyebrow wax. I paid for the services with a credit and tipped in cash, which is preferred and in some places required. It had been so long and felt great. They have wifi, a railroad arrangement, and take Covid precautions. The front and back door were open on a lovely 70 degree day and the place is clean, stylish and well maintained. Update: It has been ONE week and my gel nails are still going strong!! No chip, colors still intact ALL of them! the only thing is the very 'tip' of your nails, you can see your own nails vaguely peaking through under the color gel. You can barely see it. I come here monthly during the summer for the Liz spa pedicure ($45 as of summer 2023) and enjoy my time here. The staff are always professional and friendly and I've never had an issue with my regular manicures and pedicures. The space is clean and spacious with five wide, comfy pedicure seats. Vicky and Zaida (and the employee with the duck pin) are great and give firm massages. No complaints! Tip: they get busy so make sure you call ahead for a weekend reservation and show up on time. My $12 manicure was pretty good! I'm very careful trying out new nail salons because I've had bad experience before where the technician cut me deep enough to make a few nails bleed. This place gets pretty busy but for a good reason; they're extremely skilled at what they do! I stopped by mid afternoon on a Thursday for a gel manicure and regular pedicure and waited for around 15-20 minutes before a technician was available. The pedicure ($20) was pretty standard. I absolutely loved the way my gel manicure ($25) came out and am super appreciative at how meticulous my technician was at making sure they turned out perfectly. The salon is modern and very chic which contributes to the pleasant atmosphere. Additionally, Nancy is extremely personable and welcoming. For starters I have tried almost every nail salon in the Whitestone/ flushing area and truly none of them have what Liz nail & Spa has. They are insanely clean, all the tools are wrapped up and sanitized. The pedicure station is always so clean and equipped with a charging outlet ( USB). P Personally I go to Amy, and get UV hard gel she is AMAZING! She takes her time ( plan your day accordingly, but it's soo worth it) she pays attention to EVERYTHING. Her shaping is unreal, she looks at your nail in every angle and makes sure you're happy. Not only is she talented , but she's such a sweetheart you can have conversations with her and have a laugh. The nails last me over a month.. I know I shouldn't wait that long but it's nice to know they do last that long. The first time was done by Vicky and 3rd time was by Patty, I left the salon looking like my gel manicure was done a week and a half ago. Too far from my cuticles. I messaged Liz Nail & Spa early in the morning through Yelp's appointment system and was replied to by the time the salon opened (10am). Though we didn't make an appointment via the messaging system (call instead, it's more direct, faster and response rate is better), I was still able to get an appointment for 2pm the same day! They were very professional and safe during this difficult time with the virus. They check your temperature and sanitize your hands before proceeding when you enter. Then you'll be ask to sign a health waiver. No complaints about this process as it's necessary and important to protect their customers and themselves. Each technician's station has a guard to shield direct contact. The salon itself was so clean, bright, open and airy. It didn't smell like chemicals and they made sure to social distance the spacing of clients. After the precautions and sanitizing were taken care of, I was given a great variety of colors to chose from. Since I have a small nail size and tend to pick my nails, I got extensions with gel color and design. I told my technician I liked a certain effect of a color and she advised me with no hesitation the types of products that can give that effect. Maggie (my nail tech) was so swift and calming to work with. I felt like I was in there for only 45 mins or max an hour because of how quickly but professionally she moved. (Total time was 1.5 hours.) I can't wait to go back for my fill in and to change up the color, thanks Maggie! As a person who loves to get her nails done, I am disgusted by how I was treated today. I had asked for an acrylic fill in and was treated like an unvalued customer. They could care less of what I wanted. The lady Vicky who was doing my fillings didn't pay attention to what she was doing, she acted as if it was an inconvenience to do my nails to the point she had filed deeply into the nail and drew blood. As you can see at the photo below there are no fillings added to my acrylic nails. They acted as if I was stupid and didn't know what fillings were. They were just being cheap and trying to save supplies. In such disbelief and anger I wanted to remove the acrylic nails and ask for them to be soaked. And they said no because it's UV nails whatever that means. But I know full well they can be removed through acetone. I felt as though I was being treated as an incompetent customer and what I wanted did not matter. I just wanted to have nice nails to attend a wedding. And I thought asking that from a nail salon I regularly go to to get a pedicure should be okay. I will be going elsewhere from now on to do both my nails and pedicures. read more

This is my first review, I'm not the type to complain or rant about things I dislike. I just take it and learn not to come back, but with this place I really wanted to like it, it's cute and neat. The manager is super nice, however they don't have the best service. You pay extra for having a long nail, for shape including almond which I already have when I walked in. Lady next to me was also complaining that day also, because she didn't know you pay extra for having a long nail! Claim is that you use more powder or product. Sounds fair but, glancing over her nails is shorter than mines... imagine! If any ladies here that's the type that don't mind paying as long as they get good services and what I want... that's also me! I know my average mani with either acrylic overlay (on real nails) plus gel or UV is between 80-140! So, in the beginning costs didn't phase me! So, I happily showed them the design and they said they can do it which is great because, I actually found it here on Yelp! It's one of their reviews the one with the heart and word love. Instead I want the gel in green for spring. So, after doing the gel she started designing with acrylic, on which she was still able to remove the design but insisted to keep on going. I said no, no, I don't really like it let's just remove it and stick to plain. She said no, you can't remove it. But part of it was already washed off with acetone! Then she said how about let's put a gem on it. Without telling me the cost, I got a gem that costs $40 each. I thought sure, if it'll look cute why not?! Now, comes the price I paid 180 with a discount given my the manager, including my gel pedi. While checking out I was asked to tip... Now, I'm upset because tipping is normally when you like the service and forcing someone to add "complimentary tip"... Not a good way to asks customers to come back in my opinion. Me, not wanting to argue I went ahead and paid 213 in total. Funny because, I was going to let it slide and give this place a chance until I woke up and saw my nail with this sticky residue that attracts fiber. Top of my nail has a top coat on it! I started obsessing and kept looking at my nails and seeing more problems! The sides of my nail are not completely color coated, tip of my nails are not completely top coated! In the end the only thing I was really happy about was my pedi! When I left the manager gave me a $10 coupon, which was nice! HOWEVER with this kind of business 10 bucks is nothing. I took a gamble and went in one day as a walk-in hoping to get an appointment. They were really accommodating and took me for a spa pedi and manicure, asking if I were willing to do both at the same time (I was). In hindsight, I don't think I would do that again because it was a rather uncomfortable experience. While one tech did the pedicure, another stood next to me to do the gel manicure. This resulted in me having to uncomfortably twist my body so she could get to my hands while keeping my lower body straight for the pedicure. The spa pedi was excellent and my tech for that was very nice and did an excellent job, asking for my feedback throughout. Unfortunately, my mani tech never asked for my preferred nail shape (I didn't think to say anything since my nails were already shaped) and gave me this odd and crooked square/ballerina hybrid shape. She also didn't do a very good job with my cuticles. Worst part is, the gel manicure chipped on one nail and started peeling off another the very next day. Then a few days later, a whole chunk of polish falls off another nail. $30 for a gel mani is pretty average, but I expect it to last more than 6 days.
