This place never disappoints. Their French fries are the best I've ever had. For the price, it's the best quality around.

Some serious tri-tip going on here! Cool little joint In a small complex next to a 7-11. First time to this area of the Bay......I've said this before, when hanging out with a local, let them pick where to get a snack. A snack is what I asked for.... I have to love the people around me that know my definition of a snack :) Pull up, walk in. Theres a tiny seating area, one counter and a kitchen. Ambience is something I could care less about, I'm here for the food! Small menu with burgers, sammies, a few salads, a few sides and drinks. Simple yet complicated! D said get the tri tip Sammy, yes sir! Sliced, toasted sourdough, horseradish, grilled onions and jack cheese. Crunchy, melty and meaty! Super good! Tender non fatty thick slices of tri-tip. I ate the hubbies other half unbeknownst to him...... such a pig! P.S. The hubby wasn't too happy with his pig wife :/ It was worth it tho guys......sssssoooo good! I love preset sandwiches. Choices are great and all, when it comes to choosing what bread, what goes inside the sandwich, what sauces or condiments to use...it gets to be too much stimulation for my brain. SO with that being said, Little J's has premade sandwiches and burgers to choose from! The Tri-tip is their most popular, but I felt like trying the spicy cajun chicken and it did not disappoint. I ordered a sandwich basket which comes with fries and a drink, it came out to be about $10. They also have fries that you could add toppings to. My kind of place. I recommend that you try this hole in the wall out here in Pittsburg! read more

But, I was still indeed recovering from the "epic" night I had the night before on my birthday. I was still on vacation and I was sure that I had more party in my system. I needed fuel to keep me going and what better way than to go and get one of these.."Best Tri Tip" sandwinches and enjoy my time off. I had been to Little J's a few times before and met the owner Aaron @ my job back in 2013 when he came in to buy some supplies. Of course if I was "Yelping" then I would propabubly have a crap ton more pics and such to post but, now is better than never right? Little J's is one of the few small businesses that deserve to be in the spotlight. Little J's gives back to the community, and from the decorations, support "Pittsburg High School" to the fullest degree. Little J's is real a real true to nature "Burger Joint" of sorts, although they have much more to offer. They have something for everyone's taste here, and even options for the kiddos and those of you that decide that you don't want to eat anything that once was living..yes i'm talking about you plant and veggie killers out there ;D On this visit I wanted to really treat myself, it was my birthday week and a regular or double burger wasn't going to suffice. "The Best Tri Tip in Town" was what I had my sites set on, and in sandwinch form is how I wanted it! So, after taking a few snapshots and getting in the line, I placed my order, the "Tri Tip' sandwinch $10.65, with onion rings and a drink which came to a total of $11.82 with the tax and I got to "Fry Sauces" to dip my onion rings in $.50 each. I got my sandwinch pretty simple, tomatoes, a little mayo, and added BBQ Sauce. The sandwinch was pretty well balanced and "The Bomb!" The Tri Tip was cooked a perfect medium well, it was tender and held up in the sandwinch. Nothing like eating a meat sandwinch and you take a bite and then you end up pulling all the meat out in one bite. Was this the best "Tri Tip" sandwinch I ever had....Yes! and kudos to Aaron and the staff for staying true to their word. I've had "Tri Tip" sandwinches at other similar joints before and this one takes the "Best" title forsure in my book. The onion rings were a nice support, not over the top by any means though. They were hot, crispy and had a nice flavor and with the fry sauce it amplified the taste. I really recommend getting the fry sauce for dipping, it's the bomb! Will I go back? Yes, and in fact as I write this review and look at my pics....i'm getting hungry, the food is worth the hype and the good reviews from me and my fellow Yelpers should be proof that this place is pretty legit..2 Legit too Quit! In Conclusion, if in or around Pittsburg, you've got to stop in here and get something. Not only will you be partaking in great food, but you would be supporting a small business. Little J's has a lot of character, and it's refreshing that they're bringing a whole new vibe to this side of the east bay area where the food scene is kinda....repetitive. The service in this place has really gone down a lot. I don't know what happened lately, but it's as if they really don't care anymore. I placed an over the phone order and was given a wait time of 20 minutes. I got there prepared to wait a bit because I had arrived a bit early, but 40 minutes later and still no food. They hadn't even started preparing it, and what I ordered was easily one of the simpler items on the menu. The lady at the counter spoke to the cooks about the order and they looked as if they hadn't even gotten it, and really didn't even care. I wasted my entire lunch time at this joint and left with nothing. Sad thing is this is the second time this has happened to me here. I grew up on little J's, so it makes me sad, but unless I have hours to kill, I won't be back. I would suggest going someplace else if you're pressed for time, because even phoning your order in ahead of time won't help. read more

I like little sandwich shops, and this one did not disappoint. It has simple, quaint deli-style seating. Our crew ended up eating here 3 times over a couple weeks. The southwest chicken sandwich had a nice large green chili on it, giving it great flavor. The western cheese burger was huge, tasty, but really too much for one meal. Many people pumped up the tri-tip steak sandwich, but I found the meat overcooked, dry, and really leaning on the sauces to provide some moisture. Soda refills are extra, but the fries were tasty when hot and fresh. The biggest issue, as I see it, is that sandwiches made with the french roll (southwest, tri-tip) have an egg-brushed exterior that is far to tough and elastic. Trying to bite through the sandwich made the contents want to push out of every end. That can lead to a mess, so get plenty of napkins. read more

Ok, so I initially wanted the #5 sourdough cheeseburger. They ran out of sourdough bread, That's ok and it wasn't a deal breaker being I'm very picky about my food. I have driven past this place for YEARS until my dad kept pressuring me to go. We finally went and I was blown away by this place! The burger was phenomenal! Cheesy, beefy, bacon goodness! Service was great. The girl behind the counter helped us choose and told us the 4 cheese burger was the most popular, so of course we got it and added bacon. Fries were perfectly crispy and they gave us their special sauce for free. I wasn't a fan of the cheese sauce that we ordered on the side though...really bland. But the BURGER is great! Ate there for the first time and it was really good food! We had 5 meals and every one of us loved it. We were so full afterwards and we all had leftovers. We had their fish n chips , fish n shrimp , cheese burger, tri tip sandwich and chicken strips. The tartar sauce was delicious, the fries were great! I live in Antioch so it's about a 10 min or so drive for me and everything was still hot and yummy! They even threw in an extra soda which was cool . We will definitely be back ! read more

Pittsburg's best kept secret is this tiny hole in the wall! I ordered the tri tip sandwich and garlic fries. The meat was juicy, the veggies fresh, and the sourdough baguette was perfect! Alright, so technically, I'm not a customer. BUT, I wanted to be. So, this review is more about customer service than the food. So, if you're looking for a review of the food, I'm sure there are other reviews to handle that. Let me explain. We were hosting an event. Little J's was recommended as a caterer. We interviewed a lot of possible options. "Aaron" the owner of Little J's did EVERYTHING he could to try to accommodate our needs. He had the very best attitude and clearly has a passion and a love for creating delicious food. We ended up going with another caterer, mainly for geographic reasons than for anything else. BUT, if Little J's was closer to where we were hosting our event, there is no question, we would have gone with Little J's. Aaron was gracious in accepting that we went with another caterer, and understood that the reason was not something either side had control over. In fact, he actually made a donation toward our event!!! Yes, you read that right. He actually CONTRIBUTED to making our event a success even though he didn't get the business. This guy (and by default) Little J's is as good as it gets. If you're looking for caterer with heart AND soul, look no further. Your search is over. Go Little J's! Located in a small corner strip anchored by a 7-11, this unassuming spot did not look especially promising ... but as Mom said you don't judge a book by its cover, especially this classic burger/sandwich joint. The Texas-style smoker outside was the first clue this might be something special. Friendly counter-help was a Big clue number two - Kristina made us feel at home!! Three was the tv in the corner, tuned to espn. But the food itself - fabulous! The tri-tip was perfectly smoked, great BBQ flavor, whether served on nicely crunchy sourdough or on the side of the "carb-free plate" salad. Our neighbors' burgers looked great too! I read a lot of good things about this place and so I decided to grab a bite to eat here today. The service was very friendly and pretty quick(no one was in the place when we got there). I was able to add cheese to my sandwich after I had ordered it( a plus because the nice woman at the counter added it for free. Thanks!). The food ... It looked so delicious when it came out but it was just okay. ( kinders would be a better place to go for the Tri -tip.). Loved the customer service though(that's why the four stars) so I will be back to try other food. read more
