Easy access to the elevator from the lobby to get to the rooftop. It's a smaller rooftop space and when we went on a Saturday evening (6:15pm, 3 people) it was self seating. They did a good job with the space for sure. Now for the actual experience....we sat ourselves as indicated and servers saw us choosing a table but it was about 15-20 min before anyone even approached our table and the server asked if we had been helped yet and when we said no, asked if we were ready to order. But we hadn't even been given a menu so we requested menus and waters as it was a warm day. She brought back one menu for the three of us and some lukewarm waters. Which fine it's water and we were thirsty. We ordered a round of drinks and four appetizer plates altogether. Drink wise we ordered a Harbor Rose, A Rosenbrook and a Peach of Mind. The Harbor Rose and Rosenbrook were excellent. The Peach of Mind was just okay. Food wise we ordered the Charcuterie Plate, Crispy Fries, Crispy Mozzarella and Whipped Goat Cheese Tartine. DO NOT ORDER THE CHARCUTERIE PLATE. For $26 we received a very sad looking plate of minimal cheese and bread. The picture is included. No preserves were included as the menu indicated, the bread was not toasted as indicated, no cornichons were included as indicated, it was definitely not a $26 plate at all. We asked our server about it when she came by to check and she sighed like she'd been hearing the same complaint multiple times. She did bring us some more cheese and bread to attempt to fix it but even then it was just dry cheese and bread. The crispy fries came out cold and not fresh like they'd been sitting out for a while and then under the heat lamp even though the cheese sauce was warm so I think they premade the fries and left them sitting out way too long to maintain freshness. We sent them back to the kitchen to be remade and when they came back the fries were fresh but the portion was smaller and the egg was cold so no real win there. The cheese and egg yolk did all the lifting flavor wise the fries didn't even seem salted. The crispy mozzarella wasn't terrible but again it had been sitting under the lamp ready to come out for too long so the cheese wasn't super melty anymore and was thick. It wasn't all the way cold and didn't taste terrible lukewarm so we didn't send it back, but if it had been at the proper temp it probably would have been fantastic as the breading was fresh and crispy and the sauce with it good and who doesn't love a giant mozzarella stick. The goat cheese Tartine was the standout of the starters, my only note would be that one huge piece of sourdough bread was hard to cut and share. Luckily being a cold dish we didn't have temp issues. The intent was to have a few rounds of drinks and food but after the first we decided to just continue our night elsewhere. When we ordered we clearly specified we were on separate checks and what belonged on each check. But when we asked for checks at the end of the night it was all on one. Not wanting to spend another 20 min waiting for it to be fixed we just asked her to split it evenly three ways on our cards and she acted like that was the biggest inconvenience ever. In summary, it's a beautiful space with good drinks and good bartenders but sadly lacking in good service and food delivery. Now they are new so they might still be figuring things out but there are definitely a few things to solve before I'd dine there again. I thought perhaps the kitchen was too far but no, there's a kitchen for the rooftop inside the space right across from the bar, so that wasn't it. If I were to return anytime soon, it would only be to sit at the bar and order a drink.

The eggs are moist and delicious, very similar to the eggs we had in Paris. They have a few gifts for sale and I bought two of their china cups with baby succulent plants to take home. It's a nice reminder of a happy memory. On our last day, several employees said hello and remarked that we had been in every day. It was a kind send off to a great trip! My experience with her had nothing to do with her rules about dogs. It was about her attitude and the way she delivered a message, condescending and rude, in a tone that talked down to me as a customer, not an explanation, just contempt. That's the problem I have with her: the way she speaks to people, in this abrasive, angry, mean tone. If you're running a business and taking money from people, learn to deliver whatever you have to say in a friendly, kind way, not a condescending, dismissive, disgusting one. That is what this review has always been about: her behavior, not a dog. If it were about a dog, I would have said so. Having rules is fine, every business is entitled to them. What isn't fine is delivering any message with contempt instead of basic courtesy. There's a difference between enforcing a policy and being rude while doing it, and she consistently chooses the latter. I've also noticed her own staff don't follow her stated policies when she's not around, dogs sitting at tables inside, that kind of thing, which tells me something about how her own employees feel about working under her. And I'm not the only one who's had this kind of experience. I've talked to other people locally in Savannah who described the same condescending treatment from her. The latte is good. The staff, aside from her, are friendly. But an owner who can't speak to paying customers without an attitude problem is the reason I won't be back. Take accountability for how you talk to people, not for a dog that was never the issue.

You are stunned. Why? Because way back when, ya know, then?, you have actually enjoyed once listening to a String Quartet. Do you remember when, no. Do you remember where, ah, it could have been the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC? Or, maybe it was on one of your trips to NYC to see plays and musicals? But no, you do not remember where. So you think to yourself in an instant, "Sting Quartet playing Beatles music?" Ah...then you remember your good friend and his wife, said yes to you the last time you choose the musical genre event. So dazed and confused, you hear "Yes", coming out of your mouth. You agree he will get the tickets, and you'll pay him back. About a month before you go, your Buddy calls and says he decided to make it easy and eat dinner at the DeSoto in Savannah, GA. You reply, "What is the DeSoto?" Although, the Dakota in NYC flashes in your mind because you remember John Lennon , and Yoko Ono lived there when he assassinated. Later, you again say a prayer for him and his Family. Your Buddy says, "It's where we will be listening to The Beatles music. We just thought it would be easier, since we all will be there already." You again ask, "What's the DeSoto." He replies, "It's a nice venue, we've been there before and enjoyed it." You decided to go with it and say "OK." Although you're not sure where you're going, or where this theater venue is located, except that, it is in Savannah! OK... Your evening arrives, they pick you up, and while driving, your Buddy says, "I made a mistake in making dinner reservations at 5:30 because I thought our show started at 7:00 PM." You think "Rut Ro!". He continues, "but it's a 8:00 PM." You admit to him, your breathtakingly beautiful dinner date looked it up today and there is another show at 7 PM. So to ease his mind, you say, "We'll have plenty of time to sit back and relax and thoroughly enjoy our dinner." He says "Yeah, about 2 1/2 hours", chuckling. We arrived at the De Soto, and I look up and it's a hotel! Ok..., "Hotel food", I think to myself. We Valet park, and our good Buddy has no cash, which is all they accept. I say "I got it." and up the stairs we walk. Ah, then our first surprise, it's a huge, pristine marble entryway and long hallway, "Ah, ok!" you think. We walk along while talking to each other. Then we enter the 1540 Room, and your first thought is "Very impressive!". Huge ceiling heights, terrific ambience, with enticing tables arranged with plenty of room between them. Our Server PJ, is very personable, and friendly. We all review our questions about their different fare. I decided on the Steak with glass of red wine. And if you like steak, you should definitely too as it was a very savory, tastebud tingling, perfectly prepared as ordered, experience! Our dates ordered Grouper, but after our round of cocktails as PJ sheepishly informed us, they "ran out". But all was not lost, since they both said "We like Salmon." Did their menu price change? Sadly no. Did they offer them a dessert each, on the house? Sadly no. However, all of our entrees were all, very delicious, and perfectly prepared. So we still highly recommend the 1540 Room to all of you as an exceptional place to dine! But how was the Sting Quartet playing Beatles music? It was a soothing, relaxing sensory delight as they gently filled our venue with their mellifluous, sweet, tones while we all sat back closed our eyes and floated aimlessly within our minds and souls will being emotionally massaged with their music's eclectic flow.
