The pizzas are made to order from scratch, and can take a little bit of time. But it's definitely worth the wait. The red sauce is flavorful, and the toppings are always fresh. Not quite NY pizza, but close. My one wish is that they would put cornmeal on the bottom of the crust. Some of the less favorable reviews mention excessive wait times, which can happen during peak lunch and dinner hours. This, however, is not unique to little Coyote. It happens commonly in the restaurant business. I have also picked up an order when less than friendly employees are there. For the most part, though employees are courteous. It was cold outside, and without asking, Elizabeth said she would turn on the patio heaters for us They have canned drinks (we got diet cokes) but Elizabeth also brought out a big glass pitcher of water for us which was really thoughtful They have a bunch of paper plates, napkins, utensils and etc at little stations where you can grab them yourself. But of course, Elizabeth went above and beyond and said she would bring everything to us I think the large pizza took around 15 -20 minutes until it was ready. I've had Little Coyote from this location (only as takeout) a handful of times but finally getting around to leaving a review as I was able to try one of their weekend special flavors. Love that every weekend they do a unique pizza: as a garlic-and-clam lover, their twist on this type of pizza just made it so I HAD to come this time around. This parking lot can be crowded if there's a lot going on but otherwise you should have no trouble finding parking in the neighborhood or in the plaza. My favorite part is that it's not hard or annoying to drive to this location at all (as most of non-downtown LBC is like). I still hold onto my previous notion that Little Coyote makes one of the best thin-crust, NYC-style slices in Long Beach; the online ordering makes it easy to pick up and take home. All the toppings were well balanced and the dough has a great texture. The pies can be a bit on the pricier side from what you might expect but they are quite big; with the rising cost of chain pizza places, the price is actually pretty good here. Picked up a couple of pizzas, a sub, and an antipasto salad from here about a week ago. We got the Meat Lovers pizza that tasted great and was loaded with pepperoni, sausage, and bacon. We also got the White pizza with spinach, ricotta, Calabrian chili, and we added sausage. It was great with just a little heat from the chili. Would definitely order it again. The Italiano sub was another good choice that everyone enjoyed. The antipasto salad was ok but I think next time we will get the Caesar. They have a weekly rotation of a unique flavor that you can find out about if you subscribe via email. It is a little pricier but that's usually the case for fancier, tastier pizza. We ordered the white pie, meat lovers, and a pie with half cheese half pepperoni - all of which we got well done for an extra crisp bite to it. The girl in the front was patient with us as we were trying to figure out what to order and the Tuesday bogo deal! White Pie (4/5): I've never really been a huge fan of white pizzas, but this one was really special in that you could really taste how herbaceous it was. I enjoyed it on its own, but what really elevates it is getting some red pepper and hot honey on it. Half cheese & half pepp (4/5): solid cheese slices and pepperoni slices. Personally enjoyed the pepperoni more. Meat lover (5/5): I thought the meat lovers was the best pie. Very generous amount of toppings and went really well with a bit of ranch. This is an unfortunate review to write, but I have been a loyal customer from the beginning on 4th street and since the new owners I have been disappointed with the food and service. Multiple mistakes on food orders and tonight was the last straw. Ordered a slice of pizza for my daughter an hour in advance, received notice it was ready, got to the restaurant and they ran out. And instead of offering something they told me they will issue a refund, meanwhile my kids in the car, has been waiting to eat. I ordered awhile in advance because the last time this happened and then I guess I must have looked disappointed because the woman offered me a drink. Well how about the actual food.? It pains me to write a two-star review for Little Coyote because it would have been five stars two years ago. The pizza game in Long Beach has come up a lot in the past three years, and, unfortunately, I feel that Little Coyote is dropping behind. My past two visits here have been lackluster. Pictured in this review is my Margherita pizza ($24.00). In the past, this pizza was prepared perfectly - the crust had nice chew, there was nice texture from cornmeal on the bottom of the crust, and there was nice balance in the ingredients. Sadly, things have dropped off a bit in that the center of the pizza was less evenly cooked, there was no sign of the cornmeal, and there were a few slices that barely had any ingredients. A margherita pizza, with its limited ingredients, are where small issues can be especially noticeable. In my last experience, I ordered one of their white pizzas. The balance was off for us - the proportion of ricotta to everything else was so high, that the pizza was too rich to enjoy more than one slice. We ended up not eating the majority of the pizza. For a price point of $24-$28, you expect that the pizza will be top quality. When it falls short of that, the higher price point is what makes it harder to excuse. When Little Coyote was on top of it's game, then I never had an issue with its price point. With outstanding pizza places like Pizza Parlor and Speak Cheezy located down the street, I truly hope that Little Coyote will step up. Lastly, I don't complain about customer service often, but I was disappointed that I had expiring loyalty credits that weren't able to be applied because the cashier didn't know how to do it. If you take note, little coyote's most recent reviews in September and October are less than enthusiastic, citing similar complaints of quality, decreased value, and degrading customer service. I hope that they can turn it around because this used to be my favorite place in LB for a slice. If it does, then look for an update to this review as I will be more than happy to update it. Update: After looking into this further, I found that the original owners sold their business to new ownership in May 2024. This said, I wish Little Coyote luck in the future. I still hope to see them turn it around as there is room for improvement in the short term. read more

LOCATION: It was Friday night, but man, this parking lot and the pick up counter inside seemed like a sh** show. People cutting each other off, double parked, inside the phone was ringing, the online order bells were going off, the door has a "Hello! Welcome!" automatic voice that goes off every time someone touches the door, so every 3.5 seconds. I don't know how they tune it out. It was a wild experience. Like being in the stock market. TLDR; I placed my order online at 4:45pm and did not receive my pizza until 1.5 hours later. Food okay, not worth the price. Service was extremely inattentive to customer needs. Long story: I placed my order online at around 4:45pm, and it said my expected pick up time was at 5:15pm. I arrived at 5:20pm. They said that my pie was just going in the oven and to wait for about 10 more minutes and that I would get a text when my order was ready. I go in to check again at around 5:40pm, and they had told another customer ahead of me to wait for the text. I go outside and wait patiently for a text. At this time, there were at least 8 parties who have also been waiting for a LONG time just like me. We were all feeling frustrated and extremely irritated. It's 6:10pm, and I am so incredibly over it. Along with many others, we ask how much longer we would have to wait. Everytime we have asked, they kept brushing us off and saying about 5-10 minutes longer. Anyway, when I got to the counter to ask, my pizza had already been ready, and I stated that I had never gotten a text. "That's weird." He gave me a can of soda as a consolation. Only AFTER I picked up my pizza, I got the text that my order was ready. It baffles me why they did not come outside to tell me that my order is ready, knowing that I was outside waiting. There was no space inside for us to wait. As a customer, I would have appreciated transparency about how long my order would actually take, so I could plan accordingly and run some errands in the meantime instead of wasting my time waiting outside the restaurant. Many others felt the same. Yes, they probably got slammed with a bunch of orders at the same time, so I can give them some sympathy but not enough to forgive the way they handled the situation. After reading some similar experiences by others on Yelp, they definitely need to adjust and plan accordingly. For example, do a lot more prep beforehand if they know they will get a lot of orders, especially on sports game nights. Maybe they need to get more pizza ovens to keep up with demand. As for the actual food, the pies were ok. Definitely not worth the wait and price. The papa joe was greasy and soggy.
