He's very personable and gently honest if he thinks a treatment may be needed for things like failing fillings, of which I have an abundance. He also was the dentist that I used after receiving a dental implant on a lower molar. He was all set to cement it in place, but didn't like the gap in the fit. Food could get stuck there and be a problem. He sent it (the crown) back to the lab for a better fit and a week later, I had it fit in place beautifully. I didn't receive anesthetic for it because it was unnecessary and I didn't feel any pain. I had a filling replaced and a root covered up (he recommended a new crown but after implant surgery and the new crown, I couldn't afford it). I opted for a composite and was told that they often fail but who knows when. He wanted to offer the best dentistry possible. He also fixed a crown on my Left side molar that had failed (the gold filling developed a hole and had started to create a an uncomfortable edge on the cheek side. I was given back the old gold from the tooth in a cute treasure chest box. I haven't gone to any goldsmith's places to try to sell it yet, though. I feel kind of weird trying to sell a gold crown. His office staff is so friendly and efficient. One, his assistant whose name I fail to remember, has been there since it was owned by another dentist years ago. She's very nice. Prices are competitive with the area and parking is easy. It's at 2919 29th Street on the right side with ample parking. Oh, and as far as pain injections, he first uses a topical anesthetic and you can't feel the needle going in. He injected the anesthetic slowly which is why it seems to take forever! He told me that any pain I might feel would be the pressure of the infection fluid creating space in the gums... pressure. That if you inject slowly, it reduces the pain. I just hate having the sensation afterwards of a fat lip! After the pain injection wore off, thank God, nothing hurt.

I only review extraordinary businesses, so if you are looking for a dentist in Boulder, I found…read moreone! And I live in Chicago! Okay here goes... As embarrassing as it might be, I am an expert in regard to dentists, I have had so much dental work done on my teeth over the years that I am quite certain that I have paid for dentists' children to go through dental school! On that note... So I'm at O'Hare airport in Chicago, minding my own business, enjoying some premium popcorn I bought while waiting for my plane and........CRACK! Allow me to back up a bit.... I'm in O'Hare airport, waiting for a plane to visit my daughter who attends Boulder (Sco' Buffs!) for the weekend and I cracked my temporary (#19 to be specific) which was protecting my implant "and attached to" my #20 implant (I told you, I spent/spend a lot of money on dentists!) So here I am, at O'Hare waiting for my plane, googling boulder dentists on my phone. I already knew that I would arrive in Denver at 3:30 and it would be less than an hour to boulder, so I was trying to schedule a last minute emergency visit for 4:30pm on a Friday. I'll be honest, the first dentist that came up was booked, but they referred me to Dr Bogan. I called Dr Bogan's office and, after checking with the doctor, they told me the dentist would wait for me for a 4:30 appt. When I got there, the receptionist tried to get me through the paperwork fast; first time a medical employee actually helped me fill out a form which was very comforting. Fast forward... I'm in the chair and both doctor and nurse are looking at the damage and coming to the same conclusion my regular dentist came up with; specifically, If he replaced one cap, since it was on an implant, would probably fall off "should he use temporary cement." And.....should Dr Bogan use a stronger cement, crown removal would not be so easy; so the temporary need be attached to another temporary.... but there's more..... Considering the height of my tooth (I am a grinder and in process of rebuilding my bite; I know TMI ), a pre-made temporary would not work very well.... Dr Bogan had to custom the temporaries which is a more time consuming procedure which, based on my observations, Dr Bogan was trying to avoid extra costs for me, since it was only a temp that would be discarded sooner than later. I gotta tell ya'; in the end, Dr Bogan created and mounted a perfectly structured temporary set that actually fit better than the original temporaries; ESPECIALLY THE BITE. And, when it came time to pay the bill; it was more than reasonable, especially based on the time "and workmanship" performed by Dr Bogan and his nurse. Another side note.... Should my daughter need a dentist, I will send her there... In closing, I would highly recommend Dr Bogan, he is one of the few dentists I have come across that can actually be considered a "workmanship dentist;" he obviously has plenty of years experience that you should take advantage of... Okay, one more time: "Sco' Buffs!"

Dentist Guabatz is shockingly unprofessional when it comes to empathy, especially in regard to…read morehaving any understanding of low-income challenges I would assume most of his patients experience given that he works at a Comfort Dental. He also had zero skills for working with someone recently widowed and the anxiety I have around dental work being further exasperated by grief. My husband died from a heart attack partly caused by a combination of poverty and Medicaid not covering his dental needs until one heart event finally justified the MEDICAL need to cover getting all his teeth pulled. Instead of apologizing to me for his prior insensitivity, and working to do better our next appointment, he refused to proceed with treatment which meant I lost money because I had to miss work to come in plus pay for gas to get from Longmont to Boulder. Furthermore, he didn't explain what treatment would look like to get fitted for a bridge. He also did not go over my options very well, usually only covering the bare minimum details after I'd received nitrous and the trauma of treatment which made it difficult to understand or absorb. He is obviously a privileged white man who doesn't care enough to learn the bedside manner patients deserve. He might also refrain from talking about his vacations to the assistant in front of patients like me who can't afford the same luxuries he takes for granted. Finally he is the first dentist to ever make me feel self-conscious about fluoride stains on my teeth I can't help, and went as far as to suggest ruining the enamel on perfectly healthy teeth to put crowns on them for cosmetic purposes when he already knew I am scraping money together to pay for the medically necessary work I need. I worry that Comfort Dental might be a scam but I'm going to try one in Longmont because I don't have any other choice. I have heard good things about some Comfort Dentals so that is also why I'm going to try another plus I already purchased their "gold plan" which I guess saves me quite a bit but I'm worried that not everything is absolutely necessary.

I developed Ludwig's Angina, a fast-moving, hard-to-treat, and potentially deadly infection after…read moregetting two dental fillings with Coleman Eich on 11/2/23. I had to undergo emergency surgery and spent five nights in the hospital. Coleman Eich injected me with two shots of novocaine and started drilling after only a few minutes. I raised my hand as I could feel the drilling, but he injected me two more times with novocaine and started drilling again. When I raised my hand again, he used another injection device to inject the novocaine downwards towards the root of my tooth. He stated that he hardly ever injects novocaine in this way, in the final location. A decent dentist would have waited for the novocaine to kick in, instead of injecting me 5 times! It takes about 20-40 minutes for novocaine to fully kick in. Coleman Eich's schedule was more important to him than his patient. He was hitting his tools against my other teeth while working, and he was overall careless and aggressive. I went to Coleman Eich's office unannounced on 11/10/23 because I was in pain. I had visible swelling. I told his staff that I felt assaulted by his aggressive approach to my mouth. The other dentist in his office saw me and told me to wait ten more days. If antibiotics had been prescribed at this point, I might not have developed Ludwig's Angina. On 11/18/23, I went to Longmont's UC Health Emergency room, but the doctor dismissed the dangerous situation I was in and assumed that I was looking for pills, but wrote me a script for antibiotics. On Sunday 11/19/23, Coleman Eich met me at his office to take x-rays. He didn't see any sign of infection and referred me to some endodontists. The next day, I went to see an endodontist who could fit me in immediately. I could barely drive myself to the appointment. My mouth was swollen shut. The endodontist also saw no signs of infection on a 3D x-ray. I told her I planned to go to the ER, she also advised me to go to the ER. I went to the Boulder's BCH ER, and they immediately wheeled me into emergency surgery. I was being asked about the dentist who had treated me as my condition was so severe! I spent five days in the hospital on IV steroids and saline solution, and my blood was tested regularly for infection, even at night while I was sleeping. I had to have the infection removed through an incision in my neck and inside my cheek. I lost a lot of weight as a result of this ordeal. The infection was caused by bacteria from Coleman Eich's office that entered my body due to his careless and lazy approach to injecting the novocaine. I saw a local endodontist six weeks and ten weeks after my surgery to check on my teeth. Remarkably, the teeth themselves did not become infected and will be okay. Our best guess is that I got a needle-track infection from the novocaine injections. Only 15% of Ludwig Angina cases happen for reasons other than an infected tooth, I fell into that 15%. Boulder Community Hospital tested a sample of my infection, which was likely caused by staph bacteria. I am a young and healthy mother who almost lost her life due to negligence by a dentist. It has been a traumatic experience, and I am grateful to be alive. I hope my story will help raise awareness about the importance of proper dental care and the potential dangers of careless dental practices.
