Threatened With Higher Bill for Questioning a Billing Error…read moreI've been a patient here for years. Before my September 2025 appointment, I specifically asked if I was in-network. Their office called Anthem, got a reference number, and confirmed I was covered. I even timed my appointment to make sure my x-rays would be covered. Weeks later, I got a bill--they said I was out-of-network. When I questioned it, they admitted: They had verified I was in-network before my appointment The claim was submitted under a provider I never even saw I paid the bill to avoid problems--before they even filed an appeal. Their appeal letter to Anthem acknowledges these errors and threatens to file with the Colorado Division of Insurance if Anthem didn't fix it. To my knowledge, they never followed through. Anthem denied the appeal despite their own error, but the dentist got paid either way--so they just passed the cost to me instead of standing up for their patient. When I kept asking questions, they told me they "reserve the right to adjust the balance to full patient responsibility"--implying they could charge me more for disputing their mistake. Also: their billing department has no phone number. Everything goes through a portal, making it nearly impossible to resolve anything. If you come here, get everything in writing. I did everything right and still got billed for their error--then faced pressure when I pushed back.

I was complaining of some pain (cold sensitivity) and expected to need a crown. She took the time to explain everything that was likely to happen and made sure I was informed and comfortable with everything. Erin is very pleasant and extremely competent. By the time Dr. Britt came over I felt like Erin has been a friend for years. And the whole experience was made even better once I saw Dr. Britt. He was very kind and thorough with his examination and explained everything he was seeing until I understood what was going on. And the bonus... he actually recommended I not get the expensive and invasive crown and offered me a more appropriate treatment that cost me nothing! What a pleasure to have a dentist who's more interested in providing me proper care than making a quick buck. I couldn't be happier with my experience seeing Dr. Britt and his team. The office is well-decorated and cozy with accent walls and aesthetically-pleasing black and white photos of people with ridiculously white teeth. The exam/cleaning rooms all have nice, big windows, so you can look out the window or watch TV while you are having work done, your choice. Also, you have the option of dipping your hands in a paraffin wax bath for a nice hand treatment as you get your teeth done. Absolutely genius ... I mean, if you're sitting there for an extended period of time anyway, why not? Everyone I interacted with there was very pleasant, but, most importantly, honest. Dr. Alber has a very frank, here's-how-it-is personality, which I really appreciated. He told me I should consider having my wisdom teeth out in the near future, and when I admitted that I thought I would be doing that on my next visit to Peru, he encouraged me. "Heck, they can do it for a lot cheaper than I can -- and they have good dentists!" he said. I really appreciated that because he could have said something like "Well, the only way you can be SURE to have it done well is to go through me." I loved the no-upsale approach. She took care to make sure she knew my relevant medical and dental history, before examining and doing an x-ray to diagnose my gum infection and sinus problem, not exactly a dental issue. She and her staff are also skilled in periodontal maintenance and took care of my fairly minor issue within the hour. They were careful to check in about pain. Then the same filling broke again after ~4 years. I complained every cleaning that the filling was lose. Their excuse is that the average filling lasts 2 years. So? Are you saying you should be held to the standard of average? I want above average care. I went to canyon dental because I trusted them. Now I don't. I expected them to stand by their customers, especially loyal ones who recommend them. But I guess not. When I did a simple Google search the average filling should last between 5 and 20 years depending on material. So either the dentist lied to me or is out of touch with recent studies from the NIH that say they last atleast 5 years. On top of this they forgot to finish a tooth extraction properly for a friend I recommended, resulting in dry socket. I left the review at two stars because of their previous service. Which is reflected in my original review below, only because of the hygienist they had working: Great dentist!! Cyndi is the best hygienist I have ever had. Empathetic for any sort of pain you might have. Just has a super light hand that always leaves my teeth sparkling with minimal discomfort.
