I have been a patient with Lafayette Dental Excellence for several years. Until a couple days ago,…read moreit was just for the standard cleaning and maintenance needs. On Monday (8/10/26) I needed to have two cavities filled which I have not needed in 20+ years. I was understandably anxious after some poor experiences at other practices. Dr Leo was a consummate professional and his "chairside" manner immediately put me at ease. Throughout the procedure he and his assistant Jane were comforting and checked in with me often to ensure I was calm and relaxed. They clearly focus on patient care in what can be a very nerve wracking environment. I will continue to recommend this practice to all my friends and family. THANK YOU, Dr Leo and team, for making what could have been a nightmare a quick and painless experience!

We had a long conversation and got things sorted out. My main concern was that this rescheduling was a tiny blip on the radar and what would happen if there was a bigger issue? We have agreed for everyone to move on and act like this never happened. My kids are rescheduled for September. I will take my review down completely after their appointment. I'm hoping everything goes well and we have all actually moved on from this situation.

I came in needing a root canal and was nervous, but they made me feel incredibly comfortable from start to finish. Dr. Woods reassured me the whole time, even when I told him I usually pass out after shots--something that's caused other dentists to stop working on me in the past. Not here. He kept going, stayed calm, and made sure I was okay. The procedure was quick and painless, and honestly, I couldn't believe how smooth it went. I've never felt this relaxed in a dentist's office. Highly recommend!

Unlike so many other dentists, I never felt rushed or talked down to. We came to a mutual decision that I felt comfortable with, and I never doubted that Dr. Wood had my best interests at heart, even if it meant turning down business for him. The lady answering billing questions was not very helpful and at times pretty short. Insurance can be scary and uncertain, and as a patient I want to know (1) what the procedure is going to cost, and (2) if there's uncertainty around costs, what they are, and how they might be resolved. Having a patient and empathetic billing person would go a long way to helping this.

I do feel the need to be honest and share that I wouldn't feel comfortable returning. The last…read moredental cleaning I went to the dental hygienist was obviously put out and had an attitude about me missing the previous appointment. I can understand that to an extent, but you what - life happens! I paid the fee for missing the appointment, and it's her responsibility to get over it and still provide excellent care. It felt so ackward! Then - at the end of the teeth cleaning, this was the only dentist appoitnment I have ever been to EVER where a dentist did not come in and talk to me about my teeth, if I had any cavities, any concerns I had etc. I actually had to ask the dental hygenist to confirm that I didn't have any cavities. Finally - at the end of the appoitnment the dental hygentist was so obviously judgmental towards me when talking with the front desk worker about how I had private insurance...there's no need for that and really - what's it to her? I will never return here and do not reccomend.

I was referred to Boulder Total Dentistry by a friend. My first visit was fine. They did a basic exam and took some X-rays. The exam indicated that I had several minor problems: A cavity, and a loose implant. I returned to the office to fix the cavity and the loose implant. Dr. Hinsberger managed to destroy the tooth with the cavity. She removed enough tooth material that she decided that she could not fix the cavity, and I would need to extract the remaining tooth and have an implant and crown built. ($6500 out of my pocket) The tooth that she destroyed was not causing any problems. At no time did she indicate that fixing the cavity might cause the loss of the tooth. She did not address the loose implant. I left their office that day, and have not returned. I went to my wife's dentist, who cleaned up the damaged tooth and was able to build a crown for that tooth. Conclusion: If you go to Boulder Total Dentistry, avoid Dr. Hinsberger. Rog Smith

We got a surprise bill of almost double the out-of-pocket cost that was given to us in an estimate…read morewith no explanation. They up-charge for fluoride which no other dentist I've been to has ever done. They add a 3% fee if you use a credit card. Current or future customers, do not believe their estimates from your dental insurance will be accurate. Call your insurance plans yourself since Boulder Canyon Dental will not! Get the correct price from your insurer and THEN decide if you want BCD to do the treatment or not. Our bill went from about $570 to about $1,100! BCD will not take the time to do a "special request" with your insurance company because BCD is a "small family-owned business" and cannot ask insurers specific questions about your dental history. By the way BCD had our dental history from past dentists, but also didn't have time to go over it, same excuse. The insurance person sure had time to give long, professional responses to my email complaints, mostly blaming our dental insurance for the estimate mismatch but she didn't have time to call them to see what the actual cost would be. We had already changed dentists before all of this occurred too. The bill came after we had our records moved to another dentist since BCD dropped our dental insurance and would charge us high prices for just fillings and X-Rays. I have felt BCD has been money hungry since starting to go there. Our friend was overbilled by $500 extra, but he fought and won a check back from BCD for the errant billing. Ours was unfortunately correct, just a bad estimate.

I copied my review from Google to make sure my story gets out:…read more I used to really like this dentist. They fixed a broken tooth with a filling that broke in 6 months, which they fixed. Then the same filling broke again after ~4 years. I complained every cleaning that the filling was lose. Their excuse is that the average filling lasts 2 years. So? Are you saying you should be held to the standard of average? I want above average care. I went to canyon dental because I trusted them. Now I don't. I expected them to stand by their customers, especially loyal ones who recommend them. But I guess not. When I did a simple Google search the average filling should last between 5 and 20 years depending on material. So either the dentist lied to me or is out of touch with recent studies from the NIH that say they last atleast 5 years. On top of this they forgot to finish a tooth extraction properly for a friend I recommended, resulting in dry socket. I left the review at two stars because of their previous service. Which is reflected in my original review below, only because of the hygienist they had working: Great dentist!! Cyndi is the best hygienist I have ever had. Empathetic for any sort of pain you might have. Just has a super light hand that always leaves my teeth sparkling with minimal discomfort. I highly recommend Boulder canyon dental, especially if you have had past issues with dentists. They are very accommodating and understanding. Ask for Cyndi!!

I had two implant surgeries at their practice last year. I have no complaints about the surgeries themselves, Dr. Dodge's bedside manner is great and he treats his assistants in a polite manner. However, the office is very disorganized. I had an appointment to pick something up, but when I arrived, I was told it wasn't ready. On another occasion, I came in for a suture removal appointment and asked a simple medical question, only to be told to come back another day because Dr. Dodge was not in the office that day. There were other appointments like that which made me feel like my time was not respected. They are getting paid while I'm there; my full time job doesn't pay me to be there. Additionally, I paid $550 for a flipper that I never received. I asked for it on at least three separate occasions, but my requests were denied. Following the advice of credit card companies, I tried to work with their office to get a refund for the service that was never provided, but my concerns were dismissed. Due to their delays, I missed the 60-day window to open a credit card dispute, and now it's been over 118 days and Chase told me that for legal reasons there was absolutely nothing they could do about it after this period of time. Lesson learned.
