This is a review for the current owners & Dr Schulte…read more I can assure you this is the WORST Endodontic office you could possibly consider. If you choose to go here, you do so at your own physical and financial peril. Below is my wife's story, I feel absolutely awful that I haven't shared this sooner because we just found out that a dear friend went here for a root canal that also ended up getting infected, and they used one of the other Doctors in the practice. Clearly, the entire office is incompetent. Boulder area folks - do yourself a favor and avoid this office at all costs. Head 15 minutes right up diagonal highway and go to Endodontic Specialists of Northern Colorado instead. Dr. Milroy has been an absolute Godsend in helping my wife out of the horror that Dr. Schulte inflicted. I'll share the kicker to the whole story after you read my wife's experience, but just know that our experience landed my wife in the Hospital with out of pocket medical bills of almost 7 thousand dollars. Enjoy: ------ The negligence I experienced from Dr Schulte and his practice was every person's nightmare of a horrendous dental experience. I would NEVER use this doctor or practice again and feel it is my duty to warn others as well. While Dr Schulte is a nice man his root canal and after care landed me in the hospital for four days culminating in an invasive surgery on my jaw, mouth and neck. What began as a routine root canal ended up in over three months of procedures and appointments. During my appointment he used a novocaine technique that was extremely invasive and that my current endo says she uses only as a last resort and ALWAYS follows up with an antibiotic. I had bleeding that would not stop and the procedure that normally takes 30-45 minutes took over two hours. The instant my novocaine wore off I knew something was wrong. I called his office the next morning asking about infection. Many times he insisted I did not have one. I was given steroids which not only aggravated the pain but caused me several sleepless nights. My pain was off the charts. I went back in and he did another xray. Checking both that tooth and the other near it. He once again said that he felt there was no infection and sent me home with pain meds. When the pain meds did not touch the pain I called again. He told me I had to get through the weekend and that it was likely that I was just super sensitive. I asked again about infection and he said no. Woke up next day to swelling. And then the next day my face was three times normal size and I had 104.7' fever. We called the on call doctor who put me on antibiotics. Never once did Schulte call himself. We had to call the office several times on Monday and call the on call Dr again (who is in a different practice) to even get a call back. He then recommended I stay on this though I was no better. Next day we called again to get him to change the meds. When my throat began to feel swollen we went to the ER. A CT scan showed three abscesses and my fever was still 103. I was transported to a hospital an hour away by ambulance where I received countless rounds of IV antibiotics for a septic like infection and a surgery and drains placed in my neck to drain the infection. I am still undergoing care for the damage done to my mouth and jaw. To say it was a nightmare is an understatement. We amicably asked for his help in paying the outrageous hospital bills and have been given the run around much like his after care! While I am aware that infection is a risk it is not the fact that I got one that is my issue. It is the fact that he neglected to listen to me when I told him something was clearly wrong. I had three abscesses by the time I got to the hospital in my jaw, neck and mouth. He was completely negligent yet insists I received the standard of care he would give his family. Wow. He must not like his family!! Clearly I would NOT recommend this practice! ------ Here's the nail in the coffin to this horror tale - only in our after care post surgery X-rays did we come to find out that HE DID THE ROOT CANAL ON THE WRONG TOOTH! You've been warned

Enter Lafayette Dental Excellence. Dr. Leo, Jane, Mary, and Barb are everything I'd hoped to find, but never thought I would. Dr. Leo excels in the traits I value most in a dentist: patience, attention to detail, and outstanding knowledge of the most up-to-date advances in dentistry - in addition to foundational knowledge from experience, of course. Oh and, of equal import, compassion for my terror of anything remotely related to dental issues. Dr. Leo's assistant, Jane, could not be more kind and efficient. Mary, the office manager, is incredibly knowledgeable as well, so kind (must be a prerequisite for the office), and just fun to talk to - even in the midst of a painful dental emergency. Finally, Barb, my very first introduction to the office when I called, is warm and engaging. She sold me on giving the office a try, and I am so glad I did. Highly recommend this team.

I came in needing a root canal and was nervous, but they made me feel incredibly comfortable from start to finish. Dr. Woods reassured me the whole time, even when I told him I usually pass out after shots--something that's caused other dentists to stop working on me in the past. Not here. He kept going, stayed calm, and made sure I was okay. The procedure was quick and painless, and honestly, I couldn't believe how smooth it went. I've never felt this relaxed in a dentist's office. Unlike so many other dentists, I never felt rushed or talked down to. We came to a mutual decision that I felt comfortable with, and I never doubted that Dr. Wood had my best interests at heart, even if it meant turning down business for him. The lady answering billing questions was not very helpful and at times pretty short. Insurance can be scary and uncertain, and as a patient I want to know (1) what the procedure is going to cost, and (2) if there's uncertainty around costs, what they are, and how they might be resolved. Having a patient and empathetic billing person would go a long way to helping this.

The last…read moredental cleaning I went to the dental hygienist was obviously put out and had an attitude about me missing the previous appointment. I can understand that to an extent, but you what - life happens! I paid the fee for missing the appointment, and it's her responsibility to get over it and still provide excellent care. It felt so ackward! Then - at the end of the teeth cleaning, this was the only dentist appoitnment I have ever been to EVER where a dentist did not come in and talk to me about my teeth, if I had any cavities, any concerns I had etc. I actually had to ask the dental hygenist to confirm that I didn't have any cavities. Finally - at the end of the appoitnment the dental hygentist was so obviously judgmental towards me when talking with the front desk worker about how I had private insurance...there's no need for that and really - what's it to her? I will never return here and do not reccomend.

I was referred to Boulder Total Dentistry by a friend. My first visit was fine. They did a basic exam and took some X-rays. The exam indicated that I had several minor problems: A cavity, and a loose implant. I returned to the office to fix the cavity and the loose implant. Dr. Hinsberger managed to destroy the tooth with the cavity. She removed enough tooth material that she decided that she could not fix the cavity, and I would need to extract the remaining tooth and have an implant and crown built. ($6500 out of my pocket) The tooth that she destroyed was not causing any problems. At no time did she indicate that fixing the cavity might cause the loss of the tooth. She did not address the loose implant. I left their office that day, and have not returned. I went to my wife's dentist, who cleaned up the damaged tooth and was able to build a crown for that tooth. Conclusion: If you go to Boulder Total Dentistry, avoid Dr. Hinsberger. Rog Smith

I copied my review from Google to make sure my story gets out:…read more I used to really like this dentist. They fixed a broken tooth with a filling that broke in 6 months, which they fixed. Then the same filling broke again after ~4 years. I complained every cleaning that the filling was lose. Their excuse is that the average filling lasts 2 years. So? Are you saying you should be held to the standard of average? I want above average care. I went to canyon dental because I trusted them. Now I don't. I expected them to stand by their customers, especially loyal ones who recommend them. But I guess not. When I did a simple Google search the average filling should last between 5 and 20 years depending on material. So either the dentist lied to me or is out of touch with recent studies from the NIH that say they last atleast 5 years. On top of this they forgot to finish a tooth extraction properly for a friend I recommended, resulting in dry socket. I left the review at two stars because of their previous service. Which is reflected in my original review below, only because of the hygienist they had working: Great dentist!! Cyndi is the best hygienist I have ever had. Empathetic for any sort of pain you might have. Just has a super light hand that always leaves my teeth sparkling with minimal discomfort. I highly recommend Boulder canyon dental, especially if you have had past issues with dentists. They are very accommodating and understanding. Ask for Cyndi!!

The front office staff, Dalese and Berenice, were incredibly friendly, helpful, and easy to communicate with. They consistently followed up with me to ensure all my questions and concerns were addressed, and they provided detailed information regarding my insurance coverage. His dental assistant, Salina, was also very attentive and made sure I was well taken care of. The collaborative effort of the whole team made me feel safe during my visit. I was scheduled for a two-hour appointment, and I was genuinely impressed that Dr. Smith was able to complete both the root canal and the placement of the final crown during that single visit--no temporary crown was necessary. The result is amazing; the crown on my molar looks exactly like my other teeth. I am extremely happy with my treatment and highly recommend this practice. They did an exceptional job and were wonderful to work with.

I had two implant surgeries at their practice last year. I have no complaints about the surgeries themselves, Dr. Dodge's bedside manner is great and he treats his assistants in a polite manner. However, the office is very disorganized. I had an appointment to pick something up, but when I arrived, I was told it wasn't ready. On another occasion, I came in for a suture removal appointment and asked a simple medical question, only to be told to come back another day because Dr. Dodge was not in the office that day. There were other appointments like that which made me feel like my time was not respected. They are getting paid while I'm there; my full time job doesn't pay me to be there. Additionally, I paid $550 for a flipper that I never received. I asked for it on at least three separate occasions, but my requests were denied. Following the advice of credit card companies, I tried to work with their office to get a refund for the service that was never provided, but my concerns were dismissed. Due to their delays, I missed the 60-day window to open a credit card dispute, and now it's been over 118 days and Chase told me that for legal reasons there was absolutely nothing they could do about it after this period of time.
